Photodynamic therapy presents a therapeutic choice that can be utilized to treat diverse neoplasms. In this technique, the critical element is a photosensitive molecule that absorbs light energy and transfers it to molecular oxygen or biological molecules to form reactive oxygen species, thus inducing irreversible damage to target cells and ultimately leading to cell death. Bacteriochlorin derivatives are employed as photosensitizers (PSs), possessing light-absorbing capacity in the near-infrared region. The objective of this study was to prepare a semi-synthetic bacteriochlorin from Rhodopseudomonas faecalis and adding Trizma® to improve solubility. Cell viability tests, flow cytometry (apoptotic and necrotic cells were identified by Annexin V and propidium iodide), and confocal microscopy were used to evaluate the photoactivity of bacteriochlorin-Trizma (Bchl-T) in fibroblast (HFF-1-control cells) and breast cancer (MCF-7 cells-target cells) cells. At concentrations above 0.5 μM, Bchl-T demonstrated 80 % cell death, presenting the highest PS interaction (via fluorescence microscopy) with lysosomes, mitochondria, and the endoplasmic reticulum; the cell death type was revealed as apoptosis (via cytometry). Our findings indicated the suitability of Bchl-T for future application in photodynamic therapy against cancer cells by inducing apoptosis.The 106-residue protein Q4DY78 (UniProt accession number) from Trypanosoma cruzi is highly conserved in the related kinetoplastid pathogens Trypanosoma brucei and Leishmania major. Given the essentiality of its orthologue in T. brucei, the high sequence conservation with other trypanosomatid proteins, and the low sequence similarity with mammalian proteins, Q4DY78 is an attractive protein for structural characterization. Here, we solved the structure of Q4DY78 by solution NMR and evaluated its backbone dynamics. Q4DY78 is composed of five α -helices and a small, two-stranded antiparallel β-sheet. The backbone RMSD is 0.22 ± 0.05 Å for the representative ensemble of the 20 lowest-energy structures. Q4DY78 is overall rigid, except for N-terminal residues (V8 to I10), residues at loop 4 (K57 to G65) and residues at the C-terminus (F89 to F112). Q4DY78 has a short motif FPCAP that could potentially mediate interactions with the host cytoskeleton via interaction with EVH1 (Drosophila Enabled (Ena)/Vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP) homology 1) domains. Albeit Q4DY78 lacks calcium-binding motifs, its fold resembles that of eukaryotic calcium-binding proteins such as calcitracin, calmodulin, and polcacin Bet V4. We characterized this novel protein with a calcium binding fold without the capacity to bind calcium.Protein aggregation is indicative of failing protein quality control systems. These systems are responsible for the refolding or degradation of aberrant and misfolded proteins. Heat stress can cause proteins to misfold, triggering cellular responses including a marked increase in the ubiquitination of proteins. This response has been characterized in yeast, however more studies are needed within mammalian cells. Herein, we examine proteins that become ubiquitinated during heat shock in human tissue culture cells using diGly enrichment coupled with mass spectrometry. A majority of these proteins are localized in the nucleus or cytosol. Proteins which are conjugated under stress display longer sequence lengths, more interaction partners, and more hydrophobic patches than controls but do not show lower melting temperatures. Furthermore, heat-induced conjugation sites occur less frequently in disordered regions and are closer to hydrophobic patches than other ubiquitination sites; perhaps providing novel insight SILAC-based mass spectrometry with computational analyses to reveal features associated to proteins ubiquitinated while under heat shock. Interestingly, we found that conjugation sites induced by the stress are less often located within disordered regions and more often located near hydrophobic patches. Our study showcases how proteomics can reveal distinct feature associated to a cohort of proteins that are modified post translationally and how the ubiquitin conjugation sites are preferably selected in these conditions. Our work opens a new path for delineating the molecular mechanisms leading to the heat stress response and the regulation of protein homeostasis.
To evaluate the effect of primary needling at the time of ab interno gelatin microstent insertion on postoperative needling rates.
Retrospective, interventional cohort study.
Eighty-six eyes of 74 patients with no prior incisional surgery.
Consecutive eyes with open-angle glaucoma refractory to medical treatment that underwent ab interno gelatin microstent insertion (XEN; Allergan Inc.) with or without primary needling.
Primary outcome measure was the proportion of eyes requiring postoperative needling. Secondary outcome measures included the mean reduction in intraocular pressure (IOP), topical glaucoma medication use, complications, reoperations, and number of follow-up clinic visits over 12 months.
Fifty-one eyes (42 patients, median age 74 years) underwent XEN surgery with primary needling at the time of surgery, and 35 eyes (32 patients, median age 73 years) underwent XEN surgery without routine primary needling. Eyes that received routine primary needling had an 84.8% lower rate of postoperad for postoperative needling and postoperative clinic visits. A call to governments to enact a strategy for a sustainable food system is high on the global agenda. A sustainable food system presupposes a need to go beyond a view of the food system as linear and narrow, to comprehend the food system as dynamic and interlinked, which involves understanding social, economic and ecological outcomes and feedbacks of the system. As such, it should be accompanied by strategic, collaborative, transparent, inclusive, and reflexive agenda-setting process. The concepts of, directionality relating to an agreed vision for a future sustainable food system, and, reflexivity which describes the capacity for critical deliberation and responsiveness, are particularly important. Based on those concepts, this paper proposes an evaluative framework to assess tools and instruments applied during the agenda-setting stage. We apply the evaluative framework to recent food policy processes in Finland and Sweden, revealing that their agenda-setting design cannot be assessed as fully addressing both directionality and reflexivity, thus possibly falling short of the policy design needed for enable more transformative policy approaches.The 'food system' urgently needs a sustainable transformation. Two major challenges have to be solved the food system has to provide food security with healthy, accessible, affordable, safe and diverse food for all, and it has to do so within the safe operating space of the planetary boundaries, where the pollution from reactive nitrogen turned out to be the largest bottleneck. Here we argue that thinking strategically about how to balance nitrogen flows throughout the food system will make current food systems more resilient and robust. Looking from a material and a governance perspective on the food system, we highlight major nitrogen losses and policy blind spots originating from a compartmentalization of food system spheres. We conclude that a participatory and integrated approach to manage nitrogen flows throughout the food system is necessary to stay within regional and global nitrogen boundaries, and will additionally provide synergies with a sustainable and healthy diet for all.
Virus-associated malignancies are a global health burden, constituting 10-12% of cancers worldwide. As these tumors express foreign viral antigens that can elicit specific T cell responses, virus-directed immunotherapies are a promising treatment strategy. Specifically, adoptive cell transfer of virus-specific T cells (VSTs) has demonstrated the potential to eradicate cancers associated with certain viruses.
Initial studies in 1990s first showed that VSTs specific for the Epstein-Barr virus (EBVSTs) can induce complete remissions in patients with post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease. Since then, studies have validated the specificity and safety of VSTs in multiple lymphomas and solid malignancies. However, challenges remain to optimize this platform for widespread use, including enhancing potency and persistence, overcoming the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, and streamlining manufacturing processes that comply with regulatory requirements.
This review focuses on data from clinical trials evaluating VSTs directed against three viruses (EBV, HPV and MCPyV), as well as recent preclinical and clinical advances, and potential future directions.

With the advent of highly active and combination antiretroviral therapy have substantially increased the life expectancy of patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, this has brought into sharp contrast the incidence of several 'Non-acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) diseases such as NeuroAIDS which identifies a group of neurological disorders caused primarily by HIV-mediated damage to the central and peripheral nervous systems. Given the patients depleted immune condition, the use and abuse of drug and addictive substances such as tobacco smoking can further deteriorates their overall health and accelerate the progression and severity of the disease. In this review we detail the pathogenesis, progression and characteristics of HIV and the impact of tobacco smoking as a risk factor for the progression of the disease to NeuroAIDS. This is a poorly understood aspect of HIV-related complications that needs to be addressed.

Iran has well-established networks for primary care staffed by general practitioners who provide services to patients across the lifespan. Iran recently established collaborative care networks to build general practitioners' capacity to provide adult mental health services. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/abbv-2222.html In an NIH-funded study, we are designing and evaluating a training program for general practitioners (GPs) to extend this collaboration to include services for children and adolescents. In the formative phase of this project, we conducted a qualitative study to obtain information relevant to the design of the training program.
We conducted semi-structured individual interviews with 28 stakeholders; including 15 GPs working in a collaborative care network, 6 parents and 4 adolescents who had received child mental health care from a GP, and 3 policymakers. We also held a focus group discussion with 8 school teachers and counselors. All interviews were transcribed during the interviews' sessions and then were thematically analyzed.
GPs reported seeing a range of child emotional and behavioral problems but felt the need for additional training in diagnosis and management, especially in skills for interviewing and communicating with children.

We found that rosiglitazone has different binding affinities for the same binding pockets of PPARγ and PPFP, and the optimal compound for PPFP can differ from that of PPARγ. This suggests the need for the development of drugs targeting PPFP that allow for the fusion, rather than focusing on the PPARγ side of PPFP and searching for the best compounds for that pocket. Our findings are expected to lead to the development of new therapies for thyroid tumors.
Two pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies were conducted to evaluate the potential drug-drug interaction between elagolix, an oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor antagonist, and an oral contraceptive (ethinylestradiol [EE] 0.035 mg and norgestimate 0.18/0.215/0.25 mg) or progestin-only contraceptive (norethindrone 0.35 mg) in healthy premenopausal women.
These phase I studies used a two-period, sequential design, where period 1 included treatment with oral contraceptives, followed by period 2 with contraceptives coadministered with elagolix 150 mg once daily.
In study 1, pharmacokinetic exposures for EE in period 2 increased by 30% and the norgestimate metabolites decreased by approximately 15% when coadministered with elagolix. Mean hormone exposure appeared lower for follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH; 31%), luteinizing hormone (LH; 38%), and estradiol (E2; 16%). The percentage of women with consecutive progesterone (P) concentrations above 5 nmol/L was similar in both periods. Norethindrone, and E2 exposures were observed during coadministration, with ovulatory P concentrations also comparable in both periods. Furthermore, animal models can provide valuable knowledge of genetic alterations and metabolic pathway disturbances in PCOS. They can also be used for testing novel treatments in pre-clinical stages. Therein, the current knowledge of PCOS and investigation about the potential role of regenerative medicine in developing new and more efficient treatments for PCOS are summarized here.

The six attributes were patient age, profession, guardianship, risk-conscious behavior on a societal level, health-conscious behavior, and expected ICU length of stay. These phase I studies used a two-period, sequential design, where period 1 included treatment with oral contraceptives, followed by period 2 with contraceptives coadministered with elagolix 150 mg once daily. Orthodontic treatment can lead to microbial-induced gingival inflammation and aseptic periodontal inflammations. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between salivary pro-inflammatory cytokines levels with gingival health status and oral microbe loads among patients undergoing orthodontic treatment.The present investigation was a cross-sectional study among a sample of 111 consecutive orthodontic patients (mean age 18.4 ± 4.4 years). Clinical examinations were conducted to assess the gingival health status employing the Modified Gingival Index, Gingival Bleeding Index, and Plaque Index. Salivary microbiological assessments of total aerobic and anaerobic bacteria count, streptococci count, and lactobacilli count were undertaken. Saliva immunological assessments included Interleukin-1Beta (IL-1β) and macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) ELISA assays.The mean ± standard deviation of salivary IL-1β was 83.52 ± 85.62 pg/ml and MIF was 4.12 ± 0.96 ng/ml. Moderate positive correlationsels and Bleeding Index (r = 0.216, P less then .05).The level of salivary IL-1β positively correlates with oral bacterial load among orthodontic patients; the relationship between inflammatory cytokines and oral microflora deserved further study.
Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has received **** attention in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 recently. However, it can cause irreversible vision loss. Few cases have been reported in pediatric patient with HCQ-related adverse reactions. Appropriate administration and early disease recognition are important for reducing the adverse drug reactions of HCQ.
We report a case of a 14-year-old Chinese girl who sought treatment for rapidly decreasing vision in the left eye over 3 days. The simulation results of the population pharmacokinetic model of HCQ revealed that the plasma concentration of HCQ abnormally increased before the visual acuity of the eye decreased.
She was diagnosed as HCQ related drug adverse reaction.
The daily dose of HCQ for this patient was adjusted from 100 mg/d to 50 mg/d.
Follow-up for 6 months showed no more vision loss recurrence. However, the existing decreased visual acuity of the eye did not recover either.

The CD34+ cell count increased 26-fold after mobilization. During large volume leukapheresis (LVL), the number of CD34+ cells in peripheral blood increased from 51.29 CD34+/μL at the start to 62.3 CD34+/μL at the end. A negative correlation between CD34+ cell count after leukapheresis and age (r = -0.32, P = 0.02) was observed. Neither the CD34+ baseline count nor sex correlated with the CD34+ count in peripheral blood immediately at the end of apheresis. Clinical diagnosis, based on suggestive symptoms and laryngoscopic signs of inflammation, should be acceptable, as long as diligent differential diagnosis is sought. In order to minimize subjectivity, a number of diagnostic instruments have been proposed, being the most common the Reflux Symptom Index and the Reflux Finding Score (RFS). The latter has been translated into several languages including Portuguese, but it still has not been properly validated in this language. OBJECTIVE To validate the Brazilian Portuguese version of the RFS. MATERIAL AND METHOD For validity and internal consistency, 172 adults were studied (106 with LPR and 66 healthy controls). Flexible transnasal laryngoscopy images were randomly examined twice by each of the two experienced otolaryngologists with a 72-hour interval. Strict exclusion criteria were applied to avoid other possible known causes of chronic laryngitis. For assessment of reproducibility and temporal stability, a random sample of 108 subjects (53 patients and 55 controls) were tested and retested. RESULTS A statistically significant difference was observed in the mean RFS between patients with LPR (10.26 ± 3.58) and controls (5.52 ± 1.34) (P less then 0.001). The interclass correlation coefficient comparing test and retest for both raters was high (R1 = 0.956; R2 = 0.948). CONCLUSION The Brazilian Portuguese version of the RFS proved to be a reliable and reproducible instrument for the diagnosis of LPR with a sensitivity of 82.08%, a specificity of 93.94%, a positive predictive value of 95.60%, and a negative predictive value was 76.54%. OBJECTIVE The subglottic area and trachea are important parts of the upper airway, and can be visualized easily using transnasal flexible laryngoscopy (TFL). The aim of this study was to develop a clinical grading system to assist in documentation of the subglottic area and trachea with TFL, and to demonstrate the basic principles of visualization of these anatomic areas as a laryngology practice. METHODS The TFL videos of 100 randomized patients were evaluated by three laryngologists. The simple head extension (SHE) position and flexion position (FP) were applied to the patients during the visualization of the subglottic area and trachea. A paired t test was used to compare the grades of the subglottic and tracheal view according to the SHE and FP scores. RESULTS This study examined 50 male and 50 female patients ranging in age from 28 to 83 years (mean age 50.09 ± 13.05 years). For the SHE and FP, the numbers of patients constituting grade 1 were 2 and 35, grade 2 were 2 and 37, grade 3 were 30 and 19, and grade 4 were 41 and 9, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference between SHE and FP (P less then 0.05). The k score was 0.785 between the ratings of observer 1 and observer 2; 0.771 between observer 1 and observer 3; and 0.757 between observer 2 and observer 3 (P less then 0.001). CONCLUSION This new grading system for the visualization of the subglottis and trachea can help physicians assess and identify the upper airways, and FP provides a better subglottic and tracheal view than SHE. Listeners were divided into four groups (nonmusicians, music ensemble participants, music students, and music professionals). We analyzed data relative to cell content in 88 consecutive patients receiving HLA haploidentical bone marrow (BM) transplants with post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PT-CY). Median age was 54.5 (range, 17-72); diagnoses were acute leukemia (n = 46), lymphoproliferative disorders (n = 24), myelofibrosis (n = 11) and myelodysplastic syndromes (n = 5). Clinical diagnosis, based on suggestive symptoms and laryngoscopic signs of inflammation, should be acceptable, as long as diligent differential diagnosis is sought. In order to minimize subjectivity, a number of diagnostic instruments have been proposed, being the most common the Reflux Symptom Index and the Reflux Finding Score (RFS). The latter has been translated into several languages including Portuguese, but it still has not been properly validated in this language. OBJECTIVE To validate the Brazilian Portuguese version of the RFS. MATERIAL AND METHOD For validity and internal consistency, 172 adults were studied (106 with LPR and 66 healthy controls). Flexible transnasal laryngoscopy images were randomly examined twice by each of the two experienced otolaryngologists with a 72-hour interval. Strict exclusion criteria were applied to avoid other possible known causes of chronic laryngitis. For assessment of reproducibility and temporal stability, a random sample of 108 subjects (53 patients and 55 controls) were tested and retested. RESULTS A statistically significant difference was observed in the mean RFS between patients with LPR (10.26 ± 3.58) and controls (5.52 ± 1.34) (P less then 0.001). The interclass correlation coefficient comparing test and retest for both raters was high (R1 = 0.956; R2 = 0.948). CONCLUSION The Brazilian Portuguese version of the RFS proved to be a reliable and reproducible instrument for the diagnosis of LPR with a sensitivity of 82.08%, a specificity of 93.94%, a positive predictive value of 95.60%, and a negative predictive value was 76.54%. The aim of this study was to develop a clinical grading system to assist in documentation of the subglottic area and trachea with TFL, and to demonstrate the basic principles of visualization of these anatomic areas as a laryngology practice. METHODS The TFL videos of 100 randomized patients were evaluated by three laryngologists. The simple head extension (SHE) position and flexion position (FP) were applied to the patients during the visualization of the subglottic area and trachea. A paired t test was used to compare the grades of the subglottic and tracheal view according to the SHE and FP scores. RESULTS This study examined 50 male and 50 female patients ranging in age from 28 to 83 years (mean age 50.09 ± 13.05 years). For the SHE and FP, the numbers of patients constituting grade 1 were 2 and 35, grade 2 were 2 and 37, grade 3 were 30 and 19, and grade 4 were 41 and 9, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference between SHE and FP (P less then 0.05). The k score was 0.785 between the ratings of observer 1 and observer 2; 0.771 between observer 1 and observer 3; and 0.757 between observer 2 and observer 3 (P less then 0.001). Physical frailty has previously been associated with adverse clinical outcomes in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). This study aimed to determine whether impaired physical performance at baseline is associated with the incidence of ESRD, using a nationwide database.
The timed up-and-go (TUG) test was used to assess physical frailty in 1,552,781 66-year-old individuals, using health examination database records from the Korean National Health Insurance Service. As a primary endpoint, incident ESRD was defined operationally using healthcare claims data from the Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.
Our results showed that baseline kidney function was significantly worse in individuals with TUG results of > 10 s compared to individuals with an intact TUG performance (≤10 s). Kaplan-Meier analysis showed a stepwise dose-response relationship between baseline physical performance and the incidence rate of ESRD (log-rank test P-value of < 0.001). An increasing ESRD incidence rate trend with poor physical performance remained significant after adjusting for characteristics such as baseline glomerular filtration rate and proteinuria.

Primary hyperoxaluria(PH)is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disease that contains three subtypes (PH1, PH2 and PH3). Approximately 80% of PH patients has been reported as subtype PH1, this subtype of PH has been related to a higher risk of renal failure at any age. Several genetic studies indicate that the variants in gene AGXT are responsible for the occurrence of PH1. However, the population heterogeneity of the variants in AGXT makes the genetic diagnosis of PH1 more challenging as it is hard to locate each specific variant. It is valuable to have a complete spectrum of AGXT variants from different population for early diagnosis and clinical treatments of PH1.

Furthermore, we searched 110 pathogenic variants of AGXT that have been reported worldwide in healthy local Chinese population, none of these pathogenic variants was detected in the local genomes.

The research into the recurrence of cough variant asthma (CVA) in congenital heart disease (CHD) are few in number. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of CHD on the risk of the recurrence of CVA.
This study was a retrospective cohort study of 489 children with CVA aged between one and 14years, of whom 67 had CHD complicated with CVA and 134 had CVA without CHD at a ratio of 12 according to age, sex and index year. The adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) of CVA recurrence in both the CHD cohort and the non-CHD cohort was determined by multivariate analysis using the Cox proportional hazard regression model.
Adjusting for CHD classification, Mycoplasma pneumonia (MP) infection and immunoglobulin E (IgE) sensitization, the recurrence hazard of CVA in the complex congenital heart disease (CCHD) group (aHR = 3.281; 95% CI 1.648-6.530; P < 0.01) was significantly higher than that in the simple congenital heart disease group (aHR = 2.555; 95% CI 1.739-3.752; P < 0.01). Further, children with IgE sensitization (aHR = 2.172; 95% CI 1.482-3.184; P < 0.01) had a higher recurrence hazard of CVA than those without IgE sensitization, and children with MP infection (aHR = 1.777; 95% CI 1.188-2.657; P < 0.01) had a higher recurrence hazard of CVA than those without the MP infection.

Genetic analysis have shown complement C3 gene mutations, which hints the co-existence of lupus nephritis with aHUS, a form of complement-mediated TMA. Although initial treatment with haemodialysis, plasma exchange, and conventional immunosuppressive therapy (steroid and cyclophosphamide) did not appreciably improve kidney function and thrombocytopaenia, the patient was able to respond to eculizumab therapy.

This study aimed to assess health-promoting lifestyles among university medical students and to investigate whether such lifestyles are associated with students' academic achievement.
A cross-sectional descriptive investigative study was performed on 576 medical college students of King Saud University (KSU) in March 2019. Data were collected using the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP II) scale, which includes six dimensions (health responsibility, spiritual growth, physical activity, interpersonal relationships, nutrition, and stress management). The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics at a significance level of P < 0.05.
A mean score of 3.39 for total health-promoting behaviors was reported. To determine etiology and outcome of children with lower gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB).
This was a prospective study conducted at the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Children's Hospital and The Institute of Child's Heath, Multan, Pakistan, from July 2019 to March 2020. A total of 148 cases presented with bleeding per rectum and underwent colonoscopy, were included. Children of both genders and aged three month to 15 years were included. Detailed history, clinical examination, laboratory studies, colonoscopy and histopathology were done in all cases. Study information like demographics, complaints, general clinical examination, colonoscopy and histopathological findings were recorded.
Overall, mean age was noted to be 7.20±1.83 years. Abdominal pain was reported in 41 (27.7%), diarrhea 36 (24.3%), fever 12 (8.1%) and constipation in 4 (2.7%). Pallor was noted among 68 (45.9%), weight loss 39 (26.3%) and tachycardia 31 (20.9%). Colonoscopy revealed juvenile colonic / rectal polry few were found resistant to treatment.
To compare the effects of Cranio cervical flexion training with and without pressure biofeedback on deep cervical muscular endurance in patients with mechanical chronic neck pain.
A randomized control trial was conducted at Railway General Hospital Rawalpindi, from May to December 2019. It consisted of thirty participants with the age ranging from 25 to 40 years, and having chronic mechanical neck pain. The participants were randomly allocated into two groups Group-A received Craniocervical flexion training with pressure biofeedback and Group-B received Craniocervical flexion training without pressure biofeedback. The intervention was applied for four weeks (3 sessions per week). Assessments were taken at Pre, Post intervention and after six weeks of follow up. Data analysis was done using SPSS-21 version.
The mean age of Group-A and Group-B was 29.40±3.08 and 31.33±4.95 respectively. Between-group analyses has shown statistically and clinically significant improvement in Group-A regarding deep neck muscles endurance (p<0.05). Whereas within group analysis of both groups A & B showed a statistical and clinically significant difference (p=0.00) for deep neck muscles endurance.

Gastric cancer is among the most common human cancers with high mortality rates. ADAM10, a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase) family has also been found to be associated with gastric carcinoma and has been suggested as a potential therapeutic target. Here, we investigated the association of ADAM10 expression with prognosis in gastric adenocarcinoma patients that underwent gastric resection with D2 lymph node dissection.
Total 86 consecutive patients that underwent resection for gastric adenocarcinoma were included. Immunohistochemical ADAM10 expression and its association with clinicopathological parameters were analyzed. Univariate and multivariate analyses and survival analyses were performed using SPSS ver.22.
High grade tumors, advanced stage tumors and diffuse type tumors showed significantly worse prognosis. A statistically significant association between ADAM10 expression and overall survival (OS) was observed in the univariate analysis, however, this association did not maintain its significance in the multivariate analysis. No statistically significant association was found ADAM-10 expression and clinicopathological parameters.

It consisted of thirty participants with the age ranging from 25 to 40 years, and having chronic mechanical neck pain. The participants were randomly allocated into two groups Group-A received Craniocervical flexion training with pressure biofeedback and Group-B received Craniocervical flexion training without pressure biofeedback. The intervention was applied for four weeks (3 sessions per week). Assessments were taken at Pre, Post intervention and after six weeks of follow up. Data analysis was done using SPSS-21 version. The mean age of Group-A and Group-B was 29.40±3.08 and 31.33±4.95 respectively. Between-group analyses has shown statistically and clinically significant improvement in Group-A regarding deep neck muscles endurance (p<0.05). Whereas within group analysis of both groups A & B showed a statistical and clinically significant difference (p=0.00) for deep neck muscles endurance. ADAM10, a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase) family has also been found to be associated with gastric carcinoma and has been suggested as a potential therapeutic target. Here, we investigated the association of ADAM10 expression with prognosis in gastric adenocarcinoma patients that underwent gastric resection with D2 lymph node dissection. Total 86 consecutive patients that underwent resection for gastric adenocarcinoma were included. Immunohistochemical ADAM10 expression and its association with clinicopathological parameters were analyzed. Univariate and multivariate analyses and survival analyses were performed using SPSS ver.22. High grade tumors, advanced stage tumors and diffuse type tumors showed significantly worse prognosis. A statistically significant association between ADAM10 expression and overall survival (OS) was observed in the univariate analysis, however, this association did not maintain its significance in the multivariate analysis. No statistically significant association was found ADAM-10 expression and clinicopathological parameters. We present our experience with pediatric ABO-incompatible liver transplantation in India. Data of patients 64 requiring plasmapheresis. All 8 patients survived without rejection/biliary issues. Mean (range) of post-transplant hospital stay was 19.1 (13-22) d and follow-up period was 38.1 (7.1-84.4) mo. Pediatric ABO-incompatible liver transplantation can be successfully performed using plasmapheresis with optimal immune-suppression and vigilant post-op monitoring.We report on 16 children with ingestion of magnetic foreign bodies, who were identified by a medical record review of our hospital data for the time period between January, 2017 and May, 2018. Digestive tract wall was sandwiched in 13 (75%) children and 11 (74%) had gaptic intestinal perforation.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) guidelines are updated every five years and the new 2020 guidelines were issued recently. We briefly review the important changes in terms of rates of rescue breaths, timing of epinephrine, resuscitation in septic shock, use of extracorporeal therapies, and the new component in the chain of survival - recovery.
The IAP last published the guidelines "Comprehensive Management of Diarrhea" in 2006 and a review in 2016. The WHO in 2002 and the Government of India in 2004 recommended low osmolarity rehydration solution (LORS) as the universal rehydration solution for all ages and all forms of dehydration. However, the use of LORS in India continues to be unacceptably low at 51%, although awareness about ORS has increased from a mere 14% in 2005 to69% in 2015. Availability of different compositions of ORS and brands in market added to the confusion.
The Indian Academy of Pediatrics constituted a panel of experts from the fields of pediatrics, pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition to update on management of dehydration in children with particular reference to LORS and issue a current practice guideline. The committee met twice at CIAP HQ to review all published literature on the aspect. Brief presentations were made, followed by discussions. The draft paper was circulated by email. All relevant inputs and suggestioncare providers across all systems of medicine. LORS can also be useful in managing dehydration in non-diarrheal illness. More research is required to modify ORS further to make it safe and effective in neonates, severe acute malnutrition, renal failure, cardiac and other co-morbidities. There is an urgent need to discourage production and marketing all forms of ORS not in conformity with WHO approved LORS, under a slogan "One India, one ORS".

Literature search was conducted in PubMed. Key search terms included Pseudoseizure* OR PNES OR [(non-epileptic or nonepileptic or psychogenic or non-epileptic attack disorder) AND (seizure*)], resulting in 3,236 articles. Filters included human, ages 1-18 years, English language and last 15 years (2004-2019), resulting in 533 articles. We reviewed 33 articles, which included 19 articles that involved children (1-18 years), with 10 or more children with PNES in their study group. 21 articles obtained in cross references that were outside the filter setting (including time frame and age range) were also reviewed, for a total of 54 articles.
Majority of the studies were retrospective. To study the vaccine-induced measles specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) response in children aged 4-12 years immunized with two doses of measles containing vaccine in infancy.
This cross-sectional study was done in a tertiary care centre for a period of 18 months from January, 2017. Measles specific IgG levels were assessed using ELISA technique in 80 children of age 4-12 years, [mean (SD) age, 7.5 (2065)] who had received two doses of measles vaccine in infancy. Measles-specific IgG levels >11 NTU were considered protective.
Protective levels of measles specific IgG were found in 86.4%. Significant association was found between negative immune response to measles vaccine and low socioeconomic status (P=0.03), under-nutrition (P=0.001), anemia (P=0.03), lack of exclusive breast feeding till 5 months of age (P=0.007) and higher parity (P=0.002).

The median (IQR) age of the first clinical manifestation and lag time in diagnosis was 10 (27) and 11 (18) months, respectively. Twenty-seven children (24%) were diagnosed during their first presentation. Thirty-six (32%) children had phagocytic disorders, 20 (17.8%) had combined/cellular defects, 18 (16%) had predominant antibody deficiencies and 17 (15%) had disorders of immune dysregulation. Non-infectious manifestations were seen in 54 (48%). Eight children underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, 44 (39%) children were on antimicrobial prophylaxis and supportive therapy, 36 (32%) were lost to follow-up and 24 (21%) children died.

Radon (Rn) can easily leak into the environment through groundwater owing to its high water solubility. Therefore, studying the chemical factors influencing the content and removal of Rn from groundwater is crucial for the evaluation and mitigation of its radiological risks to public health. In this study, we conducted a redundancy analysis (RDA) of Rn in groundwater and performed batch sorption experiments for efficient Rn removal from the groundwater collected from Daejeon using natural zeolite (NZ) and fluorine-functionalized natural zeolite (FFNZ) sorbents. The redundancy analysis revealed a positive correlation between the concentrations of Rn and fluorine (F) in groundwater, indicating that F can support the long-term retention of Rn in groundwater. NZ and FFNZ achieved ~40% and ~70% removal of Rn, respectively, following 24 h of treatment, indicating a significant impact of F (in FFNZ) toward Rn removal from groundwater. Based on the results, Rn is considered to interact with F through the van der Waals force, which limits the volatilization of Rn from the solution. Similarly, the fluorine-functionalized sorbent would interact preferentially with Rn, thereby enhancing its sorption and removal from groundwater.Radioactive 85Kr is a major gaseous fission product emitted into the air by the nuclear fuel reprocessing industry. Cephalosporinase-overproducer (COPE) strains were significantly more resistant to temocillin (37.7%) than ESBL-producer (ESBL-PE) (23.5%) (P less then 0.01). The rate of temocillin resistance was correlated to the number of inactive beta-lactams. The rate of resistance to temocillin trend to increase from 13.9% in 2014 to 23.9% in 2017 (P less then 0.01). The analysis shows that the risk of duodenal ulcer is 1.97-fold higher (CI = 1.18-3.30) in patients infected by strains cagA+/cagE+. And the risk of gastric cancer is 5.19-fold higher (CI = 1.18-22.70) in patients harboring strains cagE+/2EPIYA-C. To address these problems, we developed CTD, "Connect the Dots", a fast algorithm based on data compression that detects highly connected subsets within S. CTD provides information-theoretic upper bounds on p-values when S contains a small fraction of nodes in G without requiring computationally costly permutation testing. Understanding the mechanisms that regulate the Glioblastoma invasion front is a major challenge with preeminent potential clinical relevances. In the infiltration front, the key features of tumor dynamics relate to biochemical and biomechanical aspects, which result in the extension of cellular protrusions known as tumor microtubes. The coordination of metalloproteases expression, extracellular matrix degradation, and integrin activity emerges as a leading mechanism that facilitates Glioblastoma expansion and infiltration in uncontaminated brain regions. We propose a novel multidisciplinary approach, based on in vivo experiments in Drosophila and mathematical models, that describes the dynamics of active and inactive integrins in relation to matrix metalloprotease concentration and tumor density at the Glioblastoma invasion front. The mathematical model is based on a non-linear system of evolution equations in which the mechanisms leading chemotaxis, haptotaxis, and front dynamics compete with the movement induced by the saturated flux in porous media. This approach is able to capture the relative influences of the involved agents and reproduce the formation of patterns, which drive tumor front evolution. These patterns have the value of providing biomarker information that is related to the direction of the dynamical evolution of the front and based on static measures of proteins in several tumor samples. Furthermore, we consider in our model biomechanical elements, like the tissue porosity, as indicators of the healthy tissue resistance to tumor progression.Anatomically and biophysically detailed data-driven neuronal models have become widely used tools for understanding and predicting the behavior and function of neurons. Due to the increasing availability of experimental data from anatomical and electrophysiological measurements as well as the growing number of computational and software tools that enable accurate neuronal modeling, there are now a large number of different models of many cell types available in the literature. These models were usually built to capture a few important or interesting properties of the given neuron type, and it is often unknown how they would behave outside their original context. In addition, there is currently no simple way of quantitatively comparing different models regarding how closely they match specific experimental observations. This limits the evaluation, re-use and further development of the existing models. Further, the development of new models could also be significantly facilitated by the ability to rapidly test the behavior of model candidates against the relevant collection of experimental data.
