Of 47 infants, there were eight stillbirths. There were 40 (85.1%) female infants, and eight (17.0%) had Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome. Of 39 live births, 23 (59.0%) were associated with premature induction of labor or cesarean section for obstetric indications related to FGR. Eighteen (46.2%) neonates had complications. PMD-affected placentas were pathologically heterogeneous in both grossly PMD-affected and non-affected areas.

    A total of 1324 patients underwent follow-up in a dedicated cardio-oncology clinic from April 2012 to October 2017. Special care was given to the identification and control of CV risk factors. Clinical data, blood samples, and echocardiographic parameters were prospectively collected according to protocol, at baseline before cancer therapy and then at 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 1.5 years, and 2 years after initiation of cancer therapy. At baseline, 893 patients (67.4%) presented at least one risk factor, with a significant number of patients newly diagnosed during follow-up. Individual risk factors were not related with worse prognosis during a 2-year follow-up. However, a higher Systemic Coronary Risk Estimation (SCORE) was significantly associated with higher rates of severe cardiotoxicity (CTox) and all-cause mortality [hazard ratio (HR) 1.79 (95% confidence interval, CI 1.16-2.76) for SCORE 5-9 and HR 4.90 (95% CI 2.44-9.82) for SCORE ≥10 when compared with patients with lower SCORE (0-4)].

    Tens of millions of people worldwide use opiates but little is known about their potential role in causing cardiovascular diseases. We aimed to study the association of long-term opiate use with cardiovascular mortality and whether this association is independent of the known risk factors.

    In the population-based Golestan Cohort Study-50045 Iranian participants, 40-75 years, 58% women-we used Cox regression to estimate hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals (HRs, 95% CIs) for the association of opiate use (at least once a week for a period of 6 months) with cardiovascular mortality, adjusting for potential confounders-i.e. age, sex, education, wealth, residential place, marital status, ethnicity, and tobacco and alcohol use. To show independent association, the models were further adjusted for hypertension, diabetes, waist and hip circumferences, physical activity, fruit/vegetable intake, aspirin and statin use, and history of cardiovascular diseases and cancers. In total, 8487 participants (72.2% men) were opiate users for a median (IQR) of 10 (4-20) years. During 548940 person-years-median of 11.3 years, >99% success follow-up-3079 cardiovascular deaths occurred, with substantially higher rates in opiate users than non-users (1005 vs. 478 deaths/100000 person-years). Opiate use was associated with increased cardiovascular mortality, with adjusted HR (95% CI) of 1.63 (1.49-1.79). Overall 10.9% of cardiovascular deaths were attributable to opiate use. The association was independent of the traditional cardiovascular risk factors.

    Declining childhood immunization represents a serious public health problem globally and in New Zealand. To guide efforts to increase immunization coverage, this study monitors nationwide change in immunization coverage since the introduction of the National Immunisation Register (NIR) in 2005 and spatiotemporal patterns of immunization coverage from 2006 to 2017.

    This retrospective study analyzed the medical records of 175 patients with various types of benign parotid tumor who underwent partial parotidectomy via BI (97 patients) or mFLI (78 patients). Tumors were divided into five categories depending on their location anterior, superior, inferior, middle, and deep lobe tumors. The outcomes of operation were analyzed accordingcation. Use of the mFLI is feasible for the resection of most benign parotid tumors located anteriorly or superiorly.
    This study aimed to describe our experience with a protocol based on sevoflurane sedation to control pain and agitation during botulinum toxin-A (BoNT-A) infiltration in children with cerebral palsy (CP), especially in terms of safety and efficacy.

    We conducted a retrospective observational study of patients diagnosed with CP who underwent BoNT-A infiltration with sevoflurane sedation from November 2012 to December 2019. Demographic, clinical and functional characteristics, the effectiveness of sedation, adverse events (AE) and professional satisfaction were reviewed.

    A total of 387 sedations were successfully performed in 74 patients. Effective sedation was achieved in 100% of procedures, facilitating collaboration during infiltration and improving professional satisfaction. AE were reported in 6.02% of the procedures, the most frequent being nausea and vomiting (3.88%) and transient hypoxemia (2.07%). There were no severe AE. No association was found between the incidence of AE and the clinical and functional variables or risk before anaesthesia.

Western blots were also performed to evaluate gene expression. A total of 50 DEGs were obtained by intersecting the RF and SVM models. A seven-gene signature (RNASET2, EZH2, FXYD5, KIF18A, NAT8, CDCA7, and WNT7B) was constructed by LASSO regression. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses showed that the seven-gene signature was an independent prognostic factor for kidney cancer. Finally, a predictive nomogram was established in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohort and validated internally.   • For patients with metastatic colorectal cancer, stratification for treatment (surgery or chemotherapy) is often based on crude clinicopathological characteristics like tumour size and number of lesions. Circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) acts as a potential biomarker of disease trajectory and biology, allowing better stratification. This study aims to systematically review ctDNA in stage IV colorectal cancer to assess its potential role as a prospective biomarker to guide management decisions.

    To assess the efficacy and safety of DOACs versus LMWH for thromboprophylaxis in orthopedic surgery.

    We searched MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Collaboration Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception until April 2020, for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing DOACs with LMWH for thromboprophylaxis in orthopedic surgery.

    Twenty-five RCTs met inclusion criteria, including 40,438 patients, with a mean age of 68years and 50% were males. Compared to LMWH, DOACs were associated with a significant reduction of major VTE; defined as the composite events of proximal deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and VTE-related mortality (RR 0.33; 95% CI 0.20-0.53; P<0.01), and total DVT (RR 0.59; 95% CI 0.48-0.73; P<0.01), but not PE (RR 0.81; 95% CI 0.49-1.34; P=0.42).     For patients with metastatic colorectal cancer, stratification for treatment (surgery or chemotherapy) is often based on crude clinicopathological characteristics like tumour size and number of lesions. Circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) acts as a potential biomarker of disease trajectory and biology, allowing better stratification. This study aims to systematically review ctDNA in stage IV colorectal cancer to assess its potential role as a prospective biomarker to guide management decisions. A literature search was performed to identify studies where the measurement of ctDNA in stage IV colorectal cancer was correlated with a clinical outcome (radiological response, secondary resection rate, PFS, DFS or OS). Twenty-eight studies were included, reporting on 2823 patients. Circulating tumour DNA was detectable in between 80% and 90% of patients prior to treatment. Meta-analysis identified a strong correlation between detectable ctDNA after treatment (surgery or chemotherapy) and overall survival (HR 2.2, 95y. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a serious complication of orthopedic surgery. Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) has been the standard of care for thromboprophylaxis in this population. However, direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are increasingly being used as alternatives. To assess the efficacy and safety of DOACs versus LMWH for thromboprophylaxis in orthopedic surgery. We searched MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Collaboration Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception until April 2020, for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing DOACs with LMWH for thromboprophylaxis in orthopedic surgery. Twenty-five RCTs met inclusion criteria, including 40,438 patients, with a mean age of 68years and 50% were males. Compared to LMWH, DOACs were associated with a significant reduction of major VTE; defined as the composite events of proximal deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and VTE-related mortality (RR 0.33; 95% CI 0.20-0.53; P<0.01), and total DVT (RR 0.59; 95% CI 0.48-0.73; P<0.01), but not PE (RR 0.81; 95% CI 0.49-1.34; P=0.42). There was no statistically significant difference between both groups on the incidence of major bleeding (RR 0.99; 95% CI 0.77-1.27; P=0.92), clinically relevant non-major bleeding (RR 1.04; 95% CI 0.92-1.17; P=0.52), all-cause mortality (RR 1.06; 95% CI 0.64-1.76; P=0.83), VTE-related mortality (RR 0.84; 95% CI 0.40-1.74; P=0.64) and bleeding-related mortality (RR 1.24; 95% CI 0.30-5.18; P=0.77). For patients undergoing orthopedic surgery, thromboprophylaxis with DOACs is associated with a significant reduction of major VTE and DVT, compared to LMWH. Safety outcomes were not significantly different between both treatment groups. BTZ was extracted from the dye with ethanol, resulting in a crude extract enriched to a concentration of over 60%. BTZ was then separated from a portion of the enriched extract by high-speed counter-current chromatography using a spiral-tube assembly column with intermittently pressed tubing of 60 ml capacity. It was the first reported use of such a column to separate a small, moderately hydrophobic compound. The two-phase solvent system was also moderately hydrophobic, consisting of hexane-ethyl acetate-methanol-water (5252), and the retention of the organic stationary phase measured after the separation was 83.3%. Here, we performed strand-specific RNA sequencing at three developmental stages of a novel PTGMS line Wuxiang S (WXS). A total of 3,948 lncRNAs were identified; 622 of these were detected as differentially expressed lncRNAs (DE-lncRNAs) between male-sterile WXS (WXS-S) and male-fertile WXS (WXS-F). A large proportion of lncRNAs differentially expressed at the stage of pollen mother cells meiosis, suggested that it may be the most critical stage for fertility transition of WXS. Furthermore, functional annotation of the cis- and trans- targets of DE-lncRNAs showed that 150 targets corresponding to 141 DE-lncRNAs were identified as involved in anther and pollen development. Moreover, computational analysis predicted 97 lncRNAs as precursors for 72 miRNAs, and 94 DE-lncRNAs as potential endogenous target mimics (eTMs) for 150 miRNAs. Finally, using the dual luciferase reporter assays, we demonstrated that two lncRNAs act as eTMs to regulate the expression of the SPL and GRF genes by competing for the shared osa-miR156 and osa-miR396, respectively.   • We report on the enhanced conductivity of the benzoic-acid-treated poly(3,4-ethlenedioxythiophene)poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOTPSS) electrode for use in highly flexible, organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). The conductivity of the benzoic-acid-treated PEDOTPSS electrode increased from 1 to 1583.2 S/cm, in comparison with that of the pristine PEDOTPSS electrode, due to a complex factor of the H+ mole % and the dielectric constant of the benzoic solution. Among the post-treatment methods of the PEDOTPSS electrodes, the operating voltage at 1000 cd/m2 of OLEDs fabricated utilizing the PEDOTPSS electrode with the benzoic acid treatment has the lowest value, and its maximum luminance is 24,400 cd/m2, which are 1.54 and 2.15 times higher than those of OLEDs using PEDOTPSS electrodes treated with dimethyl sulfoxide and methanol, respectively. The luminance of a flexible OLED with a benzoic-acid-treated PEDOTPSS electrode after 1400 bending cycles decreased to 83% of the initial luminance, resulting in excellent mechanical stability.Optical microscopy techniques for plant inspection benefit from the fact that at least one of the multiple properties of light (intensity, phase, wavelength, polarization) may be modified by vegetal tissues. Paradoxically, polarimetric microscopy although being a mature technique in biophotonics, is not so commonly used in botany. Importantly, only specific polarimetric observables, as birefringence or dichroism, have some presence in botany studies, and other relevant metrics, as those based on depolarization, are underused. We present a versatile method, based on a representative selection of polarimetric observables, to obtain and to analyse images of plants which bring significant information about their structure and/or the spatial organization of their constituents (cells, organelles, among other structures). We provide a thorough analysis of polarimetric microscopy images of sections of plant leaves which are compared with those obtained by other commonly used microscopy techniques in plant biology. Our results show the interest of polarimetric microscopy for plant inspection, as it is non-destructive technique, highly competitive in economical and time consumption, and providing advantages compared to standard non-polarizing techniques.Alveolar macrophages (AMs) are critical for defense against airborne pathogens and AM dysfunction is thought to contribute to the increased burden of pulmonary infections observed in individuals living with HIV-1 (HIV). While HIV nucleic acids have been detected in AMs early in infection, circulating HIV during acute and chronic infection is usually CCR5 T cell-tropic (T-tropic) and enters macrophages inefficiently in vitro. The mechanism by which T-tropic viruses infect AMs remains unknown. We collected AMs by bronchoscopy performed in HIV-infected, antiretroviral therapy (ART)-naive and uninfected subjects. We found that viral constructs made with primary HIV envelope sequences isolated from both AMs and plasma were T-tropic and inefficiently infected macrophages. However, these isolates productively infected macrophages when co-cultured with HIV-infected CD4+ T cells. In addition, we provide evidence that T-tropic HIV is transmitted from infected CD4+ T cells to the AM cytosol. We conclude that AM-derived HIV isolates are T-tropic and can enter macrophages through contact with an infected CD4+ T cell, which results in productive infection of AMs. CD4+ T cell-dependent entry of HIV into AMs helps explain the presence of HIV in AMs despite inefficient cell-free infection, and may contribute to AM dysfunction in people living with HIV.Active vision reconstruction is widely used in industrial manufacturing and three-dimensional inspection. However, the epidemiological characteristics of cancer in ESKD patients remain unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of cancer in ESKD patients and the differences based on the renal replacement therapy provided. Data on ESKD patients were obtained from the South Korean nationwide cohort Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service database. This study included 58,831 eligible patients of the total 813,907 patients diagnosed with ESKD between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2017. Of the 58,831 ESKD patients, 3292 (5.6%) were newly diagnosed with cancer. The average duration between the diagnosis of ESKD and cancer was 3.3 ± 1.9 years (mean ± standard deviation), with no differences between hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplant groups. The most commonly observed cancer sites in ESKD patients were the colorectum, lung, and liver. The incidence of cancer increased progressively among patients undergoing kidney transplant, peritoneal dialysis, and hemodialysis in that order. Hemodialysis patients were found to have an increased risk of digestive tract cancer compared with kidney transplant patients (adjusted hazard ratio = 1.9; 95% confidence interval 1.31-2.81; P  less then  0.001). We present a versatile method, based on a representative selection of polarimetric observables, to obtain and to analyse images of plants which bring significant information about their structure and/or the spatial organization of their constituents (cells, organelles, among other structures). We provide a thorough analysis of polarimetric microscopy images of sections of plant leaves which are compared with those obtained by other commonly used microscopy techniques in plant biology. Our results show the interest of polarimetric microscopy for plant inspection, as it is non-destructive technique, highly competitive in economical and time consumption, and providing advantages compared to standard non-polarizing techniques.Alveolar macrophages (AMs) are critical for defense against airborne pathogens and AM dysfunction is thought to contribute to the increased burden of pulmonary infections observed in individuals living with HIV-1 (HIV). While HIV nucleic acids have been detected in AMs early in infection, circulating HIV during acute and chronic infection is usually CCR5 T cell-tropic (T-tropic) and enters macrophages inefficiently in vitro. The mechanism by which T-tropic viruses infect AMs remains unknown. We collected AMs by bronchoscopy performed in HIV-infected, antiretroviral therapy (ART)-naive and uninfected subjects. We found that viral constructs made with primary HIV envelope sequences isolated from both AMs and plasma were T-tropic and inefficiently infected macrophages. However, these isolates productively infected macrophages when co-cultured with HIV-infected CD4+ T cells. In addition, we provide evidence that T-tropic HIV is transmitted from infected CD4+ T cells to the AM cytosol. We conclude that AM-derived HIV isolates are T-tropic and can enter macrophages through contact with an infected CD4+ T cell, which results in productive infection of AMs. CD4+ T cell-dependent entry of HIV into AMs helps explain the presence of HIV in AMs despite inefficient cell-free infection, and may contribute to AM dysfunction in people living with HIV.Active vision reconstruction is widely used in industrial manufacturing and three-dimensional inspection. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of cancer in ESKD patients and the differences based on the renal replacement therapy provided. Data on ESKD patients were obtained from the South Korean nationwide cohort Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service database. This study included 58,831 eligible patients of the total 813,907 patients diagnosed with ESKD between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2017. Of the 58,831 ESKD patients, 3292 (5.6%) were newly diagnosed with cancer. The average duration between the diagnosis of ESKD and cancer was 3.3 ± 1.9 years (mean ± standard deviation), with no differences between hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplant groups. The most commonly observed cancer sites in ESKD patients were the colorectum, lung, and liver. The incidence of cancer increased progressively among patients undergoing kidney transplant, peritoneal dialysis, and hemodialysis in that order.   • Background The aging is a multi-faceted process comprising both-the physical and mental alterations. Thus, the aim of the study was to evaluate the variables affecting the psychophysical state of the elderly people using wheelchairs and living in nursing homes (NH). Methods 165 older wheelchair users were included in the study after meeting the inclusion criteria and expressing written consent. The assessment involved cognitive functioning, depression, body balance and flexibility, lung capacity and upper limbs dexterity, strenght and endurance. The results showed negative correlation between depression and balance, upper limb dexterity and endurance and shoulder flexion. A positive correlation between cognitive functioning and balance, upper limb dexterity, strenght and endurance, lung capacity and joint mobility was determined. Also, the study proved positive correlation between daily functioning and functional fitness, muscle strength and endurance, body flexibility, joint mobility. The regression analysis showed that better scores in balance test and joint mobility implied with higher scores in cognitive functioning. The most important determinants of functional fitness were balance, hand grip strenght and joint mobility. Conclusion The future study should be focused on developing interventions aimed at senior wheelchair users living in NHs to prevent the deterioration of their mental and physical fitness.Incorporating safety risk into the design process is one of the most effective design sciences to enhance the safety of metro station construction. Then, a structured interview is used to collect safety risk cases of metro construction projects. Next, a developed support vector machine (SVM) model based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) is presented to predict the safety risk in metro construction, in which the multi-class SVM prediction model with an improved binary tree is designed. The results show that the average accuracy of the test sets is 85.26%, and the PSO-SVM model has a high predictive accuracy for non-linear relationship and small samples. The accuracy of cancer prognosis prediction will greatly benefit clinical management of cancer patients. The improvement of biomedical translational research and the application of advanced statistical analysis and machine learning methods are the driving forces to improve cancer prognosis prediction. Recent years, there is a significant increase of computational power and rapid advancement in the technology of artificial intelligence, particularly in deep learning. In addition, the cost reduction in large scale next-generation sequencing, and the availability of such data through open source databases (e.g., TCGA and GEO databases) offer us opportunities to possibly build more powerful and accurate models to predict cancer prognosis more accurately. In this review, we reviewed the most recent published works that used deep learning to build models for cancer prognosis prediction. Deep learning has been suggested to be a more generic model, requires less data engineering, and achieves more accurate prediction when working with large amounts of data. The application of deep learning in cancer prognosis has been shown to be equivalent or better than current approaches, such as Cox-PH. With the burst of multi-omics data, including genomics data, transcriptomics data and clinical information in cancer studies, we believe that deep learning would potentially improve cancer prognosis.

This paper presents a method, developed as a stand-alone software application, DFIQI ("Defense Fingerprint Image Quality Index"), which measures the clarity of friction ridge features (locally) and evaluates the quality of impressions (globally) across three different scales value, complexity, and difficulty. Performance was evaluated using a variety of datasets, including datasets designed to simulate casework and a dataset derived directly from casework under operational conditions. The results show performance characteristics that are consistent with experts' subjective determinations. This method provides fingerprint experts (1) a more rigorous approach by providing an empirical foundation to support their subjective determinations from the Analysis phase of the examination methodology, (2) a framework for organizations to establish transparent, measurable, and demonstrable criteria for Value determinations, (3) and a means of flagging impressions that are vulnerable to erroneous outcomes or inconsistency between experts (e.g., higher complexity and difficulty), and (4) a method for quantitatively summarizing the overall quality of impressions for ensuring representative distributions for samples used in research designs, proficiency testing and error rate testing, and other applications by forensic science stakeholders.
    Primary chest wall sarcoma is a rare entity. It can be classified based on its origin, as bone sarcomas or soft tissue sarcomas. Various prognostic factors have been studied in different case series like age, sex, tumor histology, grade, resection margin status, adjuvant treatment, and others. The present study aimed to analyze common histological types, their management by resection and reconstruction and prognosis, in cases presenting at a regional cancer center in western India.

    This was an observational study from a prospectively maintained database. 57 patients with chest wall sarcoma treated with curative intent between January 2016 till January 2019 with a minimum follow-up of 3 months were included in the study. The goals of surgical treatment were to obtain a wide resection margin of 3-4cm, preserve the function of the chest wall and provide stability and rigidity to protect intrathoracic organs.
