  • We studied population genomics of 486 Neisseria meningitidis isolates causing meningitis in the Netherlands during the period 1979-2003 and 2006-2013 using whole-genome sequencing to evaluate the impact of a hyperendemic period of serogroup B invasive disease. The majority of serogroup B isolates belonged to ST-41/44 (41 %) and ST-32 complex (16 %). Comparing the time periods, before and after the decline of serogroup B invasive disease, there was a decrease of ST-41/44 complex sequences (P=0.002). We observed the expansion of a sub-lineage within ST-41/44 complex sequences being associated with isolation from the 1979-2003 time period (P=0.014). Isolates belonging to this sub-lineage expansion within ST-41/44 complex were marked by four antigen allele variants. These sequences were associated with 4CMenB vaccine coverage (Fisher's exact test, P less then 0.001). Outside of the sub-lineage expansion, isolates with markedly lower levels of predicted vaccine coverage clustered in phylogenetic groups showing a trend towards isolation in the 2006-2013 time period (P=0.08). In conclusion, we show the emergence and decline of a sub-lineage expansion within ST-41/44 complex isolates concurrent with a hyperendemic period in meningococcal meningitis. The expansion was marked by specific antigen peptide allele combinations. We observed preliminary evidence for decreasing 4CMenB vaccine coverage in the post-hyperendemic period.
    High blood pressure is one of the leading preventable causes of cardiovascular death worldwide. In this regard, several studies have shown interest in the benefits of isometric exercise on blood pressure regulation.

    To assess whether low-intensity isometric handgrip exercise (LI-IHE) is an effective strategy to lower blood pressure levels in prehypertensive and hypertensive patients.

    This study was conducted according to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) statement and registered with PROSPERO. Potentially eligible studies were identified after a systematic search conducted on 4 international databases PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PEDro, and SPORTDiscus.

    We included randomized controlled trials that comprised patients who received LI-IHE.

The participants seek affordable and inclusive housing options. They identified that access to transportation is paramount in maintaining social support and accessing healthcare. Findings underscore the need for strategies to serve the housing needs of low-income SGM-identified older adults in a nondiscriminatory way, train housing providers in culturally responsive care, meet transportation needs, and provide SGM-inclusive community-based services that reduce isolation.
    The treatment of trigeminal neuralgia (TN) involves first- and second-generation anticonvulsants. However, side effects (SEs) impair compliance with treatment, especially in elderly patients. Lacosamide (LCM) is a third-generation anticonvulsant with a mechanism of action that is not completely clear. It has few SEs and has been considered in the treatment of neuropathic pain.

    LCM was prescribed as a monotherapy for a 60-year-old female with TN who had proven refractory to previous treatments in terms of both the absence of any pain relief and the appearance of severe leukopenia. The treatment dosage was 100 mg twice daily. Pain relief was obtained after three weeks of treatment without any SEs. Currently, the patient takes a maintenance dosage of 100 mg/daily, remaining in a state of complete well-being.

    This study investigated the synergistic repair effects of Prontosan hydrogel and carbon photon therapy in a rat full-thickness wound model.

    The wavelength distribution of the photon source was determined. Dehydration of the Prontosan hydrogel and fibroblast viability were analyzed following exposure to different durations of light exposure at different distances from the source. EGF/EGFR signaling is recognized as an important molecular target in cancer therapy. However, cancer cells often become tolerant to EGF/EGFR signaling-targeted therapies. In the tumor microenvironment, the tumor incites inflammation and the inflammation-derived cytokines make a considerable impact on cancer development. In addition, hyperosmolarity is also induced, but the role of osmotic stress in cancer development has not been fully understood. This study demonstrates molecular insights into hyperosmolarity effect on OSCC development and shows that NFAT5 transcription factor plays an important functional role in enhancing the oral cancer cell proliferation by inducing the EGFR translocation from the endoplasmic reticulum to the plasma membrane through increase the expression of DPAGT1, an essential enzyme for catalyzing the first committed step of N-linked protein glycosylation. These results suggest that hyperosmolarity-induced intra-nuclear translocation of NFAT5 essential for DPAGT1 activation and EGFR subcellular translocation responsible for OSCC tumor progression.Intractable gastrointestinal (GI) diseases often develop during infancy. Our group previously reported that natriuretic peptide receptor B (NPR-B)-deficient Npr2slw/slw **** exhibit severe intestinal dysfunction, such as stenosis and distention, which resembles the dysfunction observed in Hirschsprung's disease-allied disorders. However, the root cause of intestinal dysfunction and the detailed of pathophysiological condition in the intestine are not yet clear. Here, we report that the intestine of preweaning Npr2slw/slw **** showed bloodless blood vessels, and nodes were found in the lymphatic vessel. Additionally, the lacteals, smooth muscle, blood vessel, and nerves were barely observed in the villi of preweaning Npr2slw/slw ****. Moreover, intramuscular interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC-IM) were clearly reduced. In contrast, villi and ICC-IM were developed normally in surviving adult Npr2slw/slw ****. However, adult Npr2slw/slw **** exhibited partially hypoplastic blood vessels and an atrophied enteric nervous. Furthermore, adult Npr2slw/slw **** showed markedly reduced white adipose tissue. These findings suggest that the cause of GI dysfunction in preweaning Npr2slw/slw **** is attributed to defective intestinal development with microcirculation disorder. Thus, it is suggested that NPR-B signaling is involved in intestinal development and control of microcirculation and fat metabolism.     Active surveillance (AS) provides appropriate prostate cancer (PCa)-specific survival while minimizing morbidity, but underlying worry of PCa can generate anxiety. The aim of the study is to evaluate anxiety levels in men on AS and how anxiety relates to disease characteristics and treatment decision-making.

    A retrospective analysis was conducted using all 302 subjects from the Reduction by Dutasteride of clinical progression Events in Expectant Management (REDEEM) study. Prostate biopsies were obtained at 18 and 36 months. Anxiety was measured at baseline and 3, 6, 12, 18, and 36 months post-randomization using the MAX-PC (Memorial general anxiety scale for PCa) questionnaire. Univariable and multivariable analysis of the association of disease aggressiveness (PSA levels, percentage of positive cores, and maximum core involvement) and anxiety levels were performed. Cox regression was used to analyze time to progression to discontinuation of active surveillance as a function of baseline anxiety.

The effect of neratinib on HSC was evaluated in transforming growth factor (TGF-β)-incubated LX-2 cells and culture-activated primary human HSCs. In vivo study results indicated that neratinib inhibited the inflammatory response, HSC differentiation, and collagen accumulation induced by CCl4. Moreover, the anti-fibrotic effects of neratinib were not associated with the HER2 signaling pathways.

The disease "coronavirus disease 2019" (COVID-19) was caused by SARS-CoV-2. As virus isolates are unavailable so the public laboratories are now facing a challenge for detecting the virus because there is growing evidence of the outbreak which is more widespread than initially thought. We aimed here to discuss about the current diagnostic methodology for detecting the SARS-CoV-2 in health laboratories. Here we use the Novel Corona virus (2019-nCoV) Nucleic Acid Diagnostic Kit (PCR-Fluorescence Probing) which is a real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) test. A total of 230 samples in the department of microbiology, Mymensingh Medical College from 1st, April 2020 were selected for this study. Among them 20(8.69%) were positive for SARS CoV-2 and remaining were negative. Among the positive samples 55% could amplify both the ORF 1ab and N genes. The single gene ORF 1ab or N was positive in 15% and 30% cases respectively. The Ct values ( less then 38) of ORF 1ab gene indicated by FAM dye was 92.8% and N gene curve indicated by ROX dye was 100%. The presence of IC gene curve with Ct values ( less then 38) indicated by CY5 dye among the positives were 70% and 100% in negatives. The Ct values (38-40) of IC (CY5) among the positives were 15%. Choice of a treatment modality and its success largely depend on the accurate assessment of severity of disease especially the extent and distribution of calcification. Echocardiography has a key role in the determination of the severity of mitral stenosis as well as assessment of details calcification. Conventionally 2 dimensional and Doppler echocardiography is used. Now a days, 3D echocardiography offers better cardiac imaging for detail evaluation. The heart being a complex structure, the 3D evaluation would certainly offer better imaging foal echocardiography has promising prospects in detecting severity & extent of rheumatic calcification.Type 2 diabetes considered as a compound of metabolic syndrome. It can cause both micro and macrovascular complications. Diabetes is a strong risk factor in the development of atherosclerosis and likewise carotid artery disease. Carotid artery stenosis may cause stroke. Doppler ultrasound is the most common imaging technique for the diagnosis of carotid disease. Objective of the study was to assess the percentage of atherosclerotic carotid disease in asymptomatic Type 2 diabetics (T2D) by Doppler sonography and to find out the association of different risk factors of diabetic patient with atherosclerosis. A cross sectional study was done. A total of 43 type 2 diabetic patients (27 male, 16 female) referred from the out patient department and admitted patients in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (****) during January 2017 to December 2017 for the purpose of evaluation of intima media thickness (IMT) and carotid artery stenosis by Duplex color Doppler ultrasonography examination were enrolled in this study. Patients with previous history of recent stroke or transient ischemic attack (10 years, hypertension, history of ischaemic heart disease and history of diabetic retinopathy were found to be associated with carotid atherosclerosis as well as carotid stenosis. In control group all the standard protocol of wound closure following appendicectomy was followed and in experimental group along with the standard protocol the subcutaneous tissue was irrigated by pressure with normal saline and all the data were recorded in individual case record form. Among the sample most of the patients were between 10-19 years of ages and the male female ratio was 1.

The disease "coronavirus disease 2019" (COVID-19) was caused by SARS-CoV-2. As virus isolates are unavailable so the public laboratories are now facing a challenge for detecting the virus because there is growing evidence of the outbreak which is more widespread than initially thought. We aimed here to discuss about the current diagnostic methodology for detecting the SARS-CoV-2 in health laboratories. Here we use the Novel Corona virus (2019-nCoV) Nucleic Acid Diagnostic Kit (PCR-Fluorescence Probing) which is a real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) test. A total of 230 samples in the department of microbiology, Mymensingh Medical College from 1st, April 2020 were selected for this study. Among them 20(8.69%) were positive for SARS CoV-2 and remaining were negative. Among the positive samples 55% could amplify both the ORF 1ab and N genes. The single gene ORF 1ab or N was positive in 15% and 30% cases respectively. The Ct values ( less then 38) of ORF 1ab gene indicated by FAM dye was 92.8% and N gene curve indicated by ROX dye was 100%. The presence of IC gene curve with Ct values ( less then 38) indicated by CY5 dye among the positives were 70% and 100% in negatives. The Ct values (38-40) of IC (CY5) among the positives were 15%.   • Importance Body fat contouring procedures have increasingly grown in popularity over the years. As such, there is a need for inexpensive, minimally invasive, and simple fat reduction/contouring technique. Objective To examine the acid-base and histological changes in ex vivo human adipose tissue after electrochemolipolysis (ECL). Design, Setting, and Participants Panniculus tissue specimens obtained after abdominoplasty procedures were tumesced with normal saline. Two platinum needle electrodes were inserted into each sample and connected to a DC power supply. Voltage (3-6 V) was varied and applied for 5 min. Specimens were sectioned through a sagittal midline across both electrode insertion sites and immediately stained with pH-sensitive dye. A numerical algorithm was used to calculate the area of the dye color change for each dosimetry pair. Samples were also evaluated utilizing light microscopy (hematoxylin and eosin). An ex vivo human adipose tissue model was used for evaluating the effects of ECL. Resultnonsurgical fat reduction as an ultralow cost alternative to current lipolytic devices and pharmaceuticals. In the last two decades, numerous studies have explored CM cell cycle regulatory mechanisms to enhance myocardial regeneration post myocardial infarction (MI). Pyruvate kinase muscle isozyme 2 (Pkm2) is an isoenzyme of the glycolytic enzyme pyruvate kinase. The role of Pkm2 in CM proliferation, heart development and cardiac regeneration is unknown. Methods We investigated the effect of Pkm2 in CM through models of loss (CM-specific Pkm2 deletion during cardiac development) or gain using CM-specific Pkm2 modified mRNA (CMSPkm2 modRNA) to evaluate Pkm2 function and regenerative affects post-acute or -chronic MI in ****. Results Here, we identify Pkm2 as an important regulator of the CM cell cycle. We show that Pkm2 is expressed in CMs during development and immediately after birth but not during adulthood. Loss of function studies show that CM-specific Pkm2 deletion during cardiac development resulted in significantly reduced CM cell cycle, CM numbers and myocardial size. In addition, using CMSPkm2 modRNA, our novel CM-targeted strategy, following acute or chronic MI resulted in increased CM cell division, enhanced cardiac function and improved long-term survival. We mechanistically show that Pkm2 regulates the CM cell cycle and reduces oxidative stress damage through anabolic pathways and β-catenin. Maternal depressive symptoms and intervention status were tested as moderators of associations between paternal depressive symptoms and child maladjustment.Method The sample (n = 264, 48% female, 62% White, 14% Black, 14% bi-racial, 11% another racial group, and 86% non-Hispanic/Latinx) represented a subsample of families from the Early Steps Multisite Study, a clinical randomized trial testing the effectiveness of the Family Check-Up among low-income families using Women, Infants, and Children Nutritional Supplement Services in three communities varied in urbanicity. Fathers and mothers reported their levels of depressive symptoms at child age 2, primary caregivers (mostly mothers) contributed measures of child adjustment at ages 5, 8.5, and 9.5, and teachers completed questionnaires about child adjustment at ages 8.5 and 9.5.Results Direct relations were found between paternal depressive symptoms and primary caregivers' reports of children's preschool and school-age internalizing problems. Furthermore, higher levels of paternal depression were associated with higher levels of children's later adjustment problems at preschool-age when maternal depressive symptoms were mild or higher. The Family Check-Up attenuated relations between paternal depressive symptoms and children's internalizing problems at school-age.Conclusions These findings have important implications for future research on preventing children's early-emerging problem behaviors at home, suggesting that addressing paternal depressive symptoms in early childhood may be an important intervention target, especially in the context of maternal depression.

  • The purpose of this study was to synthesize research evidence from studies on the relationships among the BDNF Val66Met polymorphism, regular exercise, and cognition in human subjects. PubMed, CINAHL, and Web of Science were searched systematically. Search limiters applied in these databases included humans, English language, time limits from 2009 to 2019, and peer-reviewed journal articles. Eight studies were included in the current review. While there was some evidence to tentatively suggest that greater levels of exercise were associated with certain forms of memory in Val/Val homozygotes than Met carriers, more research is needed to corroborate these findings. Regarding attention/information processing speed, executive function as well as global cognition, the evidence is either inconsistent or sparse and does not allow for tentative conclusions. Compelling evidence from high-quality clinical trials is needed to re-examine the relationship between the BDNF Val66Met polymorphism, exercise, and cognition.This paper investigates the fate of natural organic matter (NOM) during the full-scale drinking water treatment plant supplied by Danube river bank filtration. After the recent reconstruction of the plant, special attention was devoted to the effects of ozone dose and granulated activated carbon (GAC) filtration on the formation and behaviour of oxidation by-products (carbonyl compounds and bromate), as well as carbonaceous and nitrogenous chlorination by-products. For the oxidation of aromatic NOM moieties that absorb light at UV254, a lower ozone dose (1.0 g O3/m3) is sufficient, whereas to achieve a measurable reduction (about 20%) of total organic carbon, an ozone dose of 1.5 g O3/m3 is required. The content of carbonyl compounds in the water after ozonation increases relative to the content before oxidation treatment, and is up to 12 times higher in the case of aldehydes and up to 2 times higher in the case of carboxylic acids. Seasonal variations, including changes in temperature and the amount of precipitation, were also shown to affect the content of organic matter in the raw water, with slight effects on the quality of the treated water. In the winter, the organic matter content is slightly higher, meaning their transformation products aldehydes and carboxylic acids, are also higher during the winter than the summer.Clinical judgment, one's ability to think like a nurse, is an essential skill for safe nursing practice. With the rise of simulation to replace clinical experiences, there is limited evidence regarding the effectiveness of simulation on the development of clinical judgment. This study explored differences in clinical judgment in maternal-newborn courses between undergraduate nursing students participating exclusively in simulation and those participating in hospital-based clinical experiences. Following completion of the clinical rotation, students participated in an evaluative maternal-newborn high-fidelity simulation experience that was recorded and evaluated using the Lasater's Clinical Judgment Rubric (2007). Lasater's Clinical Judgment Rubric scores between the simulation and clinical practice groups were compared using an independent sample t-test. There was no statistical difference in clinical judgment scores between the simulation and hospital-based clinical groups (t = -1.056, P = .295). Our findings suggest that simulation may be a comparable alternative to clinical experience in nursing education.The study was conducted with the objective of leading a situational assessment of Pune city with regard to Bio medical waste management, exploring knowledge, attitude & practices (KAP) of healthcare workers, and identifying challenges of stakeholders. Results revealed 69.2% of the hospitals had a biomedical waste management facility. Facilities like incineration, shredder, sharp pit, encapsulation, deep burial, and chemical disinfection were non- existing in 60% to 90% of hospitals. Bivariate analysis on questions with the type of employees and (KAP) was calculated. The utilization of the existing services and noncompliance are the major findings from the study.We examined the relationship between a patient's spirituality and satisfaction with physicians during hospitalization. Data were collected using the Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES), the Tool to Assess Inpatient Satisfaction with Care from Hospitalists (TAISCH) and a five-question, internally-developed, patient satisfaction questionnaire (5QS). Scores were rescaled from 0 to 100 for easy comparison. Results showed a statistically significant increase in patient satisfaction with increasing spirituality. In the unadjusted model, each 1% increase in DSES score (or 1% decrease in spirituality) was associated with 0.21% (p  less then  0.001) and 0.14% (p = 0.002) decrease in patient satisfaction with physicians as measured by 5QS and TAISCH respectively. The results were consistent after adjustment for the patient's age, gender, and race. A search was performed using the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Scopus, and KoreaMed, covering the period from 2003 to 2018. A total 267 articles were identified, and 24 articles were analyzed for this review. Compelling evidence from high-quality clinical trials is needed to re-examine the relationship between the BDNF Val66Met polymorphism, exercise, and cognition.This paper investigates the fate of natural organic matter (NOM) during the full-scale drinking water treatment plant supplied by Danube river bank filtration. After the recent reconstruction of the plant, special attention was devoted to the effects of ozone dose and granulated activated carbon (GAC) filtration on the formation and behaviour of oxidation by-products (carbonyl compounds and bromate), as well as carbonaceous and nitrogenous chlorination by-products. For the oxidation of aromatic NOM moieties that absorb light at UV254, a lower ozone dose (1.0 g O3/m3) is sufficient, whereas to achieve a measurable reduction (about 20%) of total organic carbon, an ozone dose of 1.5 g O3/m3 is required. The content of carbonyl compounds in the water after ozonation increases relative to the content before oxidation treatment, and is up to 12 times higher in the case of aldehydes and up to 2 times higher in the case of carboxylic acids. Seasonal variations, including changes in temperature and the amount of precipitation, were also shown to affect the content of organic matter in the raw water, with slight effects on the quality of the treated water. In the winter, the organic matter content is slightly higher, meaning their transformation products aldehydes and carboxylic acids, are also higher during the winter than the summer.Clinical judgment, one's ability to think like a nurse, is an essential skill for safe nursing practice. This study explored differences in clinical judgment in maternal-newborn courses between undergraduate nursing students participating exclusively in simulation and those participating in hospital-based clinical experiences. Following completion of the clinical rotation, students participated in an evaluative maternal-newborn high-fidelity simulation experience that was recorded and evaluated using the Lasater's Clinical Judgment Rubric (2007). Lasater's Clinical Judgment Rubric scores between the simulation and clinical practice groups were compared using an independent sample t-test. There was no statistical difference in clinical judgment scores between the simulation and hospital-based clinical groups (t = -1.056, P = .295). Our findings suggest that simulation may be a comparable alternative to clinical experience in nursing education.The study was conducted with the objective of leading a situational assessment of Pune city with regard to Bio medical waste management, exploring knowledge, attitude & practices (KAP) of healthcare workers, and identifying challenges of stakeholders. A search was performed using the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Scopus, and KoreaMed, covering the period from 2003 to 2018. A total 267 articles were identified, and 24 articles were analyzed for this review. Both sites revealed a similar history covering 6400 years. Half of the charcoal layers were less than 2500 years old in both sites, indicating that they had been subjected to the same fire history. Data indicated a stable plant composition and richness, although the percentage of Pinus decreased slightly over 4000 years (decreasing rate 1% per century). The fungus Cenococcum geophilum was consistently present, with a stochastic abundance. The vegetation grew under natural fire conditions and soil dryness since 6000 years. The formation of ZnO is realized simply by mixing reactants through two inlet flows, one containing zinc nitrate and the other sodium hydroxide. The structures of ZnO are tuned by choosing appropriate flow rates and reactant concentrations of two inlet fluids. The formation mechanism behind microfluidics is proposed. The photocatalysis, cytotoxicity, and piezoelectric capabilities of as-synthesized ZnO from microreactors are further examined, and the structure-dependent efficacy is observed, where higher surface area ZnO structures generally behave better performance. These results bring new insights not only in the rational design of functional micro-/nanoparticles from microfluidics, but also for deeper understanding of the structure-efficacy relationship when translating micro-/nanomaterials into practical applications.Deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) regulate the removal of the polyubiquitin chain from proteins targeted for degradation. The goal of this work was to develop a novel peptide-based biosensor of DUB activity that is cell permeable, protease-resilient, fluorescent, and specific to DUBs. The biosensor consists of an N-terminal β-hairpin motif that acts as both a 'protectide' to increase intracellular stability and a cell penetrating peptide (CPP) to facilitate the uptake into intact cells. The β-hairpin was conjugated to a C-terminal substrate consisting of the last four amino acids in ubiquitin (LRGG) to facilitate DUB mediated cleavage of a C-terminal fluorophore (AFC). The kinetics of the peptide reporter were characterized in cell lysates by dose response and inhibition enzymology studies. Inhibition studies with an established DUB inhibitor (PR-619) confirmed the specificity of both reporters to DUBs.

This study aims to determine the frequency of the different types of medical consultations for neurocognitive disorders and the predictors for requiring consultation since the beginning of the lockdown.

    We performed a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study based on data collected through an online survey.

    Data were collected on 324 participants, with 165 (50.9%) having had at least one medical consultation. Consultations were held by telephone in 109 cases (33.6%), by e-mail in 62 (19.1%), by video conference in 30 (9.3%), and at the emergency department in 23 (7.1%). Predictors of requiring consultation were Clinical Dementia Rating scores ≥1 (P<.001) and diagnosis of Alzheimer disease (P=.017). Higher Neuropsychiatric Inventory scores were found in the group of respondents who did require medical consultation (P<.001), but no significant differences were found between groups for Zarit Burden Interview scores.

Fifteen rats were randomly selected for sham group, MI group and ischemia-reperfusion (IR) group (N = 5 for each group). The ultrasound radiofrequency data of the PSAX view of rat heart were acquired. After polar transformation of the data, the infarcted myocardium with the change of mechanical property was tracked over one myocardial systolic phase by the proposed method in comparison with fast normalized cross-correlation (FNCC) and dynamic programming analytic minimization (DPAM). To obtain a clear visualization of the myocardium, the inverse polar transformation was performed. The results indicated that the use of FNCCGLAM refined the myocardial displacements to obtain high-quality myocardial elastographic map with a higher contrast-to-noise ratio and dynamically tracked the infarcted myocardial segment with a higher success rate in comparison with FNCC and DPAM. It was found that the radial systolic motion of the infarcted anterior segment in the MI group reduced significantly (p less then 0.05) in comparison with the sham group, while the systolic function of that myocardial segment in the IR group recovered at some extent. Fifteen rats were randomly selected for sham group, MI group and ischemia-reperfusion (IR) group (N = 5 for each group). The ultrasound radiofrequency data of the PSAX view of rat heart were acquired. After polar transformation of the data, the infarcted myocardium with the change of mechanical property was tracked over one myocardial systolic phase by the proposed method in comparison with fast normalized cross-correlation (FNCC) and dynamic programming analytic minimization (DPAM). To obtain a clear visualization of the myocardium, the inverse polar transformation was performed. The results indicated that the use of FNCCGLAM refined the myocardial displacements to obtain high-quality myocardial elastographic map with a higher contrast-to-noise ratio and dynamically tracked the infarcted myocardial segment with a higher success rate in comparison with FNCC and DPAM. It was found that the radial systolic motion of the infarcted anterior segment in the MI group reduced significantly (p less then 0.05) in comparison with the sham group, while the systolic function of that myocardial segment in the IR group recovered at some extent. METHODS A total of 465 Chinese community-dwelling elderly (age ≥ 60 years) with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) were recruited into this investigation. At baseline, enrolled participants were assessed for Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), mini-psychiatric examination. They were also subjected to categorical language fluency test, list learning and delayed recall. We assessed the NPS severity by Neuropsychological Inventory (NPI). The global cognitive status (GCS) of the participants at the end of the 3-year study period were measured with the CDR. RESULTS Approximately 41.6% of subjects had 1 or more NPS (total NPI score ≥ 1) at baseline. The most common NPSs were nocturnal behavior (20.8%), depression (17.3%), apathy (12.7%) and anxiety (13.2%). At the end of 3-year follow-up, 26.9% of baseline depressed patients developed AD, while 15.2% of baseline non-depressed patients developed AD (χ2 = 4.86, P=0. 04). Abnormal motor behavior was significantly correlated with cognitive deterioration as well (χ2 = 5.75, P=0. 03). Logistic regression analysis revealed that depression was considered as a risk factor for AD progression at baseline (95% CI 1.12-5.67, OR=2.37, P=0.03).   • T-cell directing/engaging bispecifics (TDBs) enable a powerful mode of action by activating T-cells through the creation of artificial immune synapses. Their pharmacological response involves the dynamic inter-relationships among T-cells, tumor cells, and TDBs. This results in complex and challenging issues in understanding pharmacokinetics, tissue distribution, target engagement, and exposure-response relationship. Dosing strategy plays a crucial role in determining the therapeutic window of TDBs because of the desire to maximize therapeutic efficacy in the context of known mechanism-related adverse events, such as cytokine release syndrome and neurological adverse events. Such adverse events are commonly reported as the most prominent events during the initial treatment cycles and dissipate over time. Therefore, the kinetic characterization of the inter-relationships between exposure/target engagement and safety/efficacy outcomes is crucial in designing the optimal dosing regimen to maximize the benefit/risk of TDB agents. In this review, we discuss the key clinical pharmacological considerations in drug discovery and development for TDBs and provide a summary of TDBs currently in clinical development. We also propose forward-looking perspectives and opportunities to derive insights through quantitative clinical pharmacology approaches.Hypertension continues to be a health crisis, with multiple approaches attempting to define best practices for management. The objective of our hypertension group education program is to improve patient health outcomes through engaging a multidisciplinary health professional team. A 6-hour group curriculum was created with a focus on nutrition, lifestyle, and medication approaches to hypertension management, while incorporating personally identified behavior change goals and barriers. Outcomes were tracked pre-program, at program completion, and 6 and 12 months post-program completion. Program participants demonstrated immediate and sustained improvements in blood pressure readings and attainment of personal behavior change goals. Group hypertension education classes are an effective way to care for patients.     Autologous peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) transplantation has become a standard treatment option for many oncology patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of two cell separators, Spectra Optia (Terumo BCT, Japan) and Amicus (Fresenius-Kabi) for autologous PBSC collection.

    We retrospectively evaluated 56 apheresis by Spectra Optia with Continuous Mononuclear Cell Collection (cMNC) from 20 patients, and 50 apheresis by Amicus from 27 patients between December 2018 and December 2019. CD34+ collection efficiency (CE2) and platelet (PLT) loss were evaluated.

    There was no significant difference in CD34+ CE2 between Spectra Optia with cMNC (median, 28.8%) and Amicus (median, 33.1%; P = 0.537). PLT loss was significantly lower in Amicus (median, 28.6%) than in Spectra Optia with cMNC (median, 37.8%; P = 0.009).

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report comparing autologous PBSC collection of the Spectra Optia and Amicus. Here, we describe the effective and uncomplicated treatment of AD with dupilumab over a 23-month period in a patient with HIV. Throughout the treatment duration, the patient demonstrated marked improvement in AD severity, while maintaining stable CD4 T cell counts and viral load. These results suggest that dupilumab represents a safe and effective treatment option for AD in patients with HIV.Living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) has increased availability of liver transplantation, particularly in countries with limited access to deceased organ donors. It is unclear how individual countries address the financial impact of donation for potential living donors. Herein, living liver donor financial supports were examined, focusing on countries performing ≥10 LDLT per year in the World Health Organization Transplant Observatory.
