Third, multi-scale CNN with different binding motif lengths is used to automatically learn and mine the influence of internal attributes and hidden complex relations between the fusion sequence features and make full use of the complementary advantages of extracted CNN features to predict DPB. First, the effect of particle concentration on the contact line dynamics during the evaporation of a sessile droplet is investigated. It is shown that increasing the particle concentration leads to an increase in pinning time and ring width, whereas the droplet's initial and dynamic contact angle remains unchanged. Afterward, the effect of different concentrations of surfactant is studied for different particle concentrations. It is concluded that the surfactant concentration at which the CRE is suppressed is dependent on the initial particle concentration of the colloid, and it increases as the particle concentration increases. Furthermore, as adding surfactant with a concentration lower than this critical concentration results in an unsuppressed CRE, it is shown that surpassing this concentration will result in a depletion of particles in the contact line. The study examines whether and why parental job loss may stifle early child development, relying on cohort data from the population of children born in Ireland in 2007-2008 (N = 6,303) and followed around the time of the Great Recession (2008-2013). A novel approach to mediation analysis is deployed, testing expectations from models of family investment and family stress. Parental job loss exacerbates problem behavior at ages 3 and 5 (.05-.08 SDs), via the channels of parental income and maternal negative parenting. By depressing parental income, job loss also hampers children's verbal ability at age 3 (.03 SDs). This is tied to reduced affordability of formal childcare, highlighting a policy lever that might tame the intergenerational toll of job loss.ACE inhibitors (ACEis) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) are standard-of-care treatments for hypertension and diabetes, common comorbidities among hospitalized patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study integrated available information about the renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS) and effects of SARS-CoV-2 and its comorbidities on ACE2 into a mechanistic mathematical model and aimed to quantitatively predict effects of ACEi/ARBs on the RAAS pro-inflammatory/anti-inflammatory balance. RAAS blockade prior to SARS-CoV-2 infection is predicted to increase the mas-AT1 receptor occupancy ratio up to 20-fold, indicating that in patients already taking an ACEi/ARB before infection, the anti-inflammatory arm is already elevated while the pro-inflammatory arm is suppressed. Predicted pro-inflammatory shifts in the mas-AT1 ratio due to ACE2 downregulation by SARS-CoV-2 were small relative to anti-inflammatory shifts induced by ACEi/ARB. Post-partum follow up testing of women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is important. All women, and their family doctors, receive written reminders. There are no recent major Australian reviews of the efficacy and compliance with this advice conducted in an ethnically representative population and using the current diagnostic criteria.
The aim was to examine a cohort of women with recently diagnosed GDM and a completed pregnancy to determine what proportion had been tested and what were the difficulties in having testing carried out.
Women who were diagnosed with gestational diabetes and attended the Diabetes Service in 2017 were followed up in 2019. Attempted contact was made using an unidentified land line, an identifiable mobile phone and a postal survey. Compliance with testing advice was the major parameter considered.
There were 714 women with GDM, 75 were excluded 64 after pass one and 11 after pass two. In total, only 339/639 (53.1%) could be contacted. Of these women, 334 agreed to be surveyed; 207 (62.0%) had a post-partum test. Of the 127 women who had not had a test, 113 agreed to have an HbA1c. Only 13/113 (11.5%) had this done within a month.
Contacting women, even within a short time after the pregnancy, is difficult. The number of post-partum tests carried out is suboptimal. Written advice to all women and their doctors does not appear to be working. A review of the cost effectiveness of this approach and development of new methods may be worthwhile.

To describe the incidence of term and preterm neonatal cerebral sinovenous thrombosis (CSVT) and identify perinatal risk factors.
This was a national capture-recapture calculation-corrected surveillance and nested case-control study. Infants born preterm and at term with magnetic resonance imaging-confirmed neonatal CSVT were identified by surveillance in all paediatric hospitals in Germany (2015-2017). Incidence was corrected for underreporting using a capture-recapture method in one federal state and then extrapolated nationwide. We reviewed PubMed for comparisons with previously reported incidence estimators. We used a population-based perinatal database for quality assurance to select four controls per case and applied univariate and multivariable regression for risk factor analysis.
Fifty-one newborn infants (34 males, 17 females; 14 born preterm) with neonatal CSVT were reported in the 3-year period. The incidence of term and preterm neonatal CSVT was 6.6 (95% confidence interval [CI] 4.4-8.7) per 100000 live births. Median age at time of confirmation of the diagnosis was 9.95 days (range 0-39d). In the univariate analysis, male sex, preterm birth, hypoxia and related indicators (umbilical artery pH <7.1; 5-minute Apgar score <7; intubation/mask ventilation; perinatal asphyxia), operative vaginal delivery, emergency Caesarean section, and pathological fetal Doppler sonography were associated (p<0.05) with neonatal CSVT. Multivariable regression yielded hypoxia (odds ratio=20.3; 95% CI 8.1-50.8) as the independent risk factor.

To obtain high thermal performance composite phase change materials (PCMs), various other supporting materials have been utilized to encapsulate organic PCMs. In this study, four carbon materials (biochar, activated carbon, carbon nanotubes, and expanded graphite) were introduced to support heptadecane. The composite PCMs were designed using vacuum impregnation techniques. Venous aneurysms are long-term complications of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) for hemodialysis with an estimated incidence rate of around 5-6%. The purpose of our study is to investigate the role of immunosuppressive therapy in the development of AVF aneurysms in renal transplant patients, and to determine whether AVF closure following transplantation is necessary.
Forty-six patients with symptomatic venous AVF aneurysms underwent ligation and resection of their fistulas between January 2013 and January 2020. Immunohistochemical expression of CD3, CD4, and CD8 was assessed on the surgical specimens to characterize lymphocytic infiltrate in the aneurysm wall. Patients were subdivided into "Group A"-kidney transplant patients undergoing immunosuppressive therapy which was comprised of 39 patients and "Group B"-patients who had not undergone kidney transplant which was comprised of 7 patients. The 2 groups did not significantly differ in age, sex nor risk factors for aneurysms.

While the first task requires the use of contrasting left/right spatial codes for response selection, the second task does not require the use of these codes. In line with previous evidence, in the SNARC task N+ patients displayed a significant asymmetry in Reaction Times (RTs), with slower RTs to number "4", that was immediately precedent to the numerical reference "5", with respect to the number "6", that immediately followed the same reference. This RTs asymmetry was correlated with lesion of white matter tracts, i.e. Fronto-Occipital-Fasciculus, that allows prefrontal Ba 8 and 46 to regulate the distribution of attention on sensory and memory traces in posterior occipital, temporal and parietal areas. In contrast, no similar RTs asymmetry was found in the Go/No-Go task. These findings suggest that while in the SNARC task numbers get mentally organised from left-to-right as a function of their increasing magnitude, so that N+ patients display a delay in the processing of number-magnitudes that are immediately smaller than a given numerical reference, in the Go/No-Go task no left-to-right organization is activated. These results support the idea that it is the use of contrasting left/right spatial codes, whether motor or conceptual, that triggers the generation of a spatially left-to-right organised MNL and that the representation of number magnitude is not endowed with an inherent spatial component.
To obtain high thermal performance composite phase change materials (PCMs), various other supporting materials have been utilized to encapsulate organic PCMs. In this study, four carbon materials (biochar, activated carbon, carbon nanotubes, and expanded graphite) were introduced to support heptadecane. The composite PCMs were designed using vacuum impregnation techniques. Hotspot histone H3 mutations have emerged as drivers of oncogenesis in cancers of multiple lineages. The role of other parameters, such as sea surface temperature (SST), remains controversial. Here, we show that higher SST promotes SSA mass generation at a wide range of wind speed levels over the remote Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, in addition to demonstrating the wind-driven SSA production mechanism. The results are from a global scale dataset of airborne SSA measurements at 150 to 200 m above the ocean surface during the NASA Atmospheric Tomography Mission. Statistical analysis suggests that accounting for SST greatly enhances the predictability of the observed SSA concentration compared to using wind speed alone. Our results support implementing SST into SSA source functions in global models to better understand the atmospheric burdens of SSA.Acetogenic bacteria use cellular redox energy to convert CO2 to acetate using the Wood-Ljungdahl (WL) pathway. We have developed a nanoparticle-microbe hybrid system in which chemically synthesized cadmium sulfide nanoparticles (CdS-NPs) are displayed on the cell surface of the industrial acetogen Clostridium autoethanogenum The hybrid system converts CO2 into acetate without the need for additional energy sources, such as H2, and uses only light-induced electrons from CdS-NPs. To elucidate the underlying mechanism by which C. autoethanogenum uses electrons generated from external energy sources to reduce CO2, we performed transcriptional analysis. Our results indicate that genes encoding the metal ion or flavin-binding proteins were highly up-regulated under CdS-driven autotrophic conditions along with the activation of genes associated with the WL pathway and energy conservation system. Furthermore, the addition of these cofactors increased the CO2 fixation rate under light-exposure conditions. To provide the atomic details of OapB-OLE RNA interaction and to potentially reveal previously uncharacterized protein-RNA interfaces, we determined the structure of OapB from Bacillus halodurans alone and in complex with an OLE RNA fragment at resolutions of 1.0 Å and 2.0 Å, respectively. The structure of OapB exhibits a K-shaped overall architecture wherein its conserved KOW motif and additional unique structural elements of OapB form a bipartite RNA-binding surface that docks to the P13 hairpin and P12.2 helix of OLE RNA. These high-resolution structures elucidate the molecular contacts used by OapB to form a stable RNP complex and explain the high conservation of sequences and structural features at the OapB-OLE RNA-binding interface. The submitting complaint was a drastic drop in hatchability. This operation has its own breeder birds that are housed in outside pens. This hatch occurred in the latter third of the production cycle. Typical hatchability for this operation is around 75% (± 3%). The hatchability of this hatch was between 14%-15%. Approximately 30,000 eggs were set with an expected hatchability of about 23,000 birds. The number of birds from this hatch was less than 4500, with a net loss approaching 20,000 chicks. All unhatched eggs submitted were in late stage development. The chick embryos had pipped through the shell but died before hatching. Approximately 5000 eggs originating from an outside breeder source were also set at the same time in the same machines and experienced a normal hatch. The exterior surfaces of the eggshells of the unhatched eggs experiencing low hatchability were swabbed and submitted for bacteriologic evaluation. Additionally, embryos from some of the unhatched eggs were removed aseptically from their eggshells, and their internal organs were harvested and submitted for bacteriologic evaluation. The bacteriology results identified no pathogenic bacteria from the eggshells. However, the embryo samples revealed large quantities of Enterococcus faecalis. In discussions with the producer, the only factor identified was an unusually warm period followed by an atypically cold and wet period during the time of egg collection for those eggs experiencing low hatchability.The avian pathogen Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale (ORT) has been implied in the etiology of poultry respiratory disease in recent years. To evaluate whether Whatman® Flinders Technology Associates (FTA®) cards can be used for hazard-free transport and storage of ORT samples for posterior DNA amplification, a controlled assay was performed. Three 10-fold dilutions of an ORT culture suspension were spotted on FTA cards and stored at room temperature (RT) for 6 mo. Sterile swabs were immersed in the same three 10-fold culture dilutions and stored at RT and 4 and -20 C without storage medium for the same time. DNA was extracted from both the FTA cards and swabs 1 day, 1 and 6 wk, and 6 mo following sample preparation and stored at -20 C. At the end of the experiment, real-time PCR amplification of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene was performed from DNA extracted throughout a 6-mo period from all ORT samples stored on both FTA cards and swabs. The obtained threshold cycle values for each ORT DNA extraction date were within the same range for all samples in a dilution-dependent fashion, regardless of storage temperature or used material. Pure ORT colonies could be reisolated 1 day after sample preparation from the swab dilutions stored at all temperatures but not from the FTA cards. We conclude that the efficiency of ORT DNA amplification from samples stored on FTA cards or in swabs is similar. However, FTA cards have the advantage of preventing microorganism growth, thus allowing safe transport and storage, for at least 6 mo, for bacterial dilutions down to at least 104-105 colony-forming units/ml.Field visits at two different farms suggest a correlation between commercial turkey (Meleagridis gallopavo) flocks having increased mortality from blackhead disease (histomoniasis) if they suffer from poor poult quality at placement and coccidiosis (Eimeria spp.) before age 6 wk. In both cases, the flocks were all-in/all-out with curtain-sided houses and received a coccidiosis vaccine on day of hatch. At Farm I 2018, poults from different hatcheries were placed in two houses on the same farm (Houses 1 and 2). House 2 had poults considered poor quality and suffered from mortality associated with coccidiosis at 2 and 4 wk of age. At 8 wk, blackhead disease was diagnosed in both houses by postmortem examination. House 2 had mortality of >2000 poults, and the subpopulation of necropsied poults had gross lesions characteristic of histomoniasis. Gross lesions associated with blackhead disease were only found in eight poults in House 1, which was populated with good-quality poults and did not have a second spike in mortality due to coccidiosis. The Farm II 2020 poults were delivered from the same hatchery onto a three-house farm (Houses A, B, and C). House C had poults that were considered poor quality and had mortality associated with coccidiosis at 3 wk of age. At 8-9 wk, House C had mortality approaching 1000 birds, with all poults examined postmortem having clinical signs of blackhead disease. Houses A and B were populated with good-quality poults and had no diagnosed mortality from coccidiosis or blackhead disease. The similarity of these two cases suggest that poult quality at placement coupled with coccidiosis before 6 wk of age can influence the severity of blackhead disease in commercial turkey flocks.Routine asymptomatic testing strategies for COVID-19 have been proposed to prevent outbreaks in high-risk healthcare environments. Typical hatchability for this operation is around 75% (± 3%). The hatchability of this hatch was between 14%-15%. Approximately 30,000 eggs were set with an expected hatchability of about 23,000 birds. The number of birds from this hatch was less than 4500, with a net loss approaching 20,000 chicks. All unhatched eggs submitted were in late stage development. The chick embryos had pipped through the shell but died before hatching. Approximately 5000 eggs originating from an outside breeder source were also set at the same time in the same machines and experienced a normal hatch. The exterior surfaces of the eggshells of the unhatched eggs experiencing low hatchability were swabbed and submitted for bacteriologic evaluation. Additionally, embryos from some of the unhatched eggs were removed aseptically from their eggshells, and their internal organs were harvested and submitted for bacteriologic evaluation. The bacteriology results identified no pathogenic bacteria from the eggshells. However, the embryo samples revealed large quantities of Enterococcus faecalis. To evaluate whether Whatman® Flinders Technology Associates (FTA®) cards can be used for hazard-free transport and storage of ORT samples for posterior DNA amplification, a controlled assay was performed. Three 10-fold dilutions of an ORT culture suspension were spotted on FTA cards and stored at room temperature (RT) for 6 mo. Sterile swabs were immersed in the same three 10-fold culture dilutions and stored at RT and 4 and -20 C without storage medium for the same time. DNA was extracted from both the FTA cards and swabs 1 day, 1 and 6 wk, and 6 mo following sample preparation and stored at -20 C. At the end of the experiment, real-time PCR amplification of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene was performed from DNA extracted throughout a 6-mo period from all ORT samples stored on both FTA cards and swabs. The obtained threshold cycle values for each ORT DNA extraction date were within the same range for all samples in a dilution-dependent fashion, regardless of storage temperature or used material. Pure ORT colonies could be reisolated 1 day after sample preparation from the swab dilutions stored at all temperatures but not from the FTA cards. We conclude that the efficiency of ORT DNA amplification from samples stored on FTA cards or in swabs is similar. However, FTA cards have the advantage of preventing microorganism growth, thus allowing safe transport and storage, for at least 6 mo, for bacterial dilutions down to at least 104-105 colony-forming units/ml.Field visits at two different farms suggest a correlation between commercial turkey (Meleagridis gallopavo) flocks having increased mortality from blackhead disease (histomoniasis) if they suffer from poor poult quality at placement and coccidiosis (Eimeria spp.) before age 6 wk. In both cases, the flocks were all-in/all-out with curtain-sided houses and received a coccidiosis vaccine on day of hatch. At Farm I 2018, poults from different hatcheries were placed in two houses on the same farm (Houses 1 and 2). House 2 had poults considered poor quality and suffered from mortality associated with coccidiosis at 2 and 4 wk of age. At 8 wk, blackhead disease was diagnosed in both houses by postmortem examination. House 2 had mortality of >2000 poults, and the subpopulation of necropsied poults had gross lesions characteristic of histomoniasis. Gross lesions associated with blackhead disease were only found in eight poults in House 1, which was populated with good-quality poults and did not have a second spike in mortality due to coccidiosis. The Farm II 2020 poults were delivered from the same hatchery onto a three-house farm (Houses A, B, and C). House C had poults that were considered poor quality and had mortality associated with coccidiosis at 3 wk of age. At 8-9 wk, House C had mortality approaching 1000 birds, with all poults examined postmortem having clinical signs of blackhead disease. Houses A and B were populated with good-quality poults and had no diagnosed mortality from coccidiosis or blackhead disease. While behavior is important during the prospective adopter/owner's interaction with the dog, it is still not the most important criterion in making a decision.Background Radium 223 (RA223) is currently administered as part of a therapeutic sequence with the other life-prolonging agents (LPAs) for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Patients & methods We retrospectively reviewed the clinical records of patients who had received at least three LPAs including RA223. Results Median overall survival (OS) from the start of first-line treatment was 39.8 months, with the patients who completed all six planned courses of RA223 having a longer OS than those who did not (53.2 vs 29.5 months; p less then 0.0001). Conclusions Our study confirms the activity of RA223 regardless of the treatment line in which it is administered and suggests that patient selection plays a central role in maximizing this activity.The "community cat program (CCP)" is a non-lethal control measure in which stray cats are owned and cared for as community cats at high welfare standards, while the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) or Trap-Test-Vaccinate-Alter-Return-Monitor (TTVARM) event is performed. To evaluate the correlation between Best Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA) and the following parameters in Stargardt Disease (STGD) Central Retinal Thickness (CR-T), Central Outer Nuclear Layer Thickness (C-ONL-T), Areas of macular Photoreceptor loss (PHRa), and Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE) loss (RPEa).
A total of 64 eyes of 32 STGD patients were included in the study. All patients received a comprehensive ophthalmological examination, color fundus photographs, fundus auto-fluorescence imaging, and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). The CR-T and C-ONL-T were evaluated from standard SD-OCT scans. The PHRa and RPEa were calculated from enface OCT scans (sub RPE slab and photoreceptor slab). The collected OCT parameters were evaluated for possible association with BCVA.
The mean macular PHRa and RPEa was 16.16 ± 13.36 and 12.05 ± 12.57 mm

We recognize this is becoming a growing problem that needs to be addressed; therefore, we have carried out a quality improvement project (QIP) that can save clinicians time. We have developed the "Stockport Foot and Ankle Questionnaire," a novel preconsultation questionnaire to gather information about patient history and symptoms. We found that the average time required for consultation reduced from a mean of 22 minutes, without questionnaires, to a mean of 15 minutes with the questionnaire, effectively saving 7 minutes per consultation. The preconsultation questionnaire in foot and ankle clinics is a novel technique to improve efficiency, productivity, and standardization in outpatient clinics. It is a patient-centered approach that identifies where effective changes can be implemented in how outpatient services are run. We recommend routine use of these questionnaires to save valuable clinician time.Levels of Evidence Level II.Our study aimed to estimate how a pediatric patient's health condition status influences parents' perceptions of patient- and family-centered care (PFCC). We analyzed five years (2013-2017) of Medical Expenditure Panel Survey data in efforts to expand understanding of the family influence in pediatric health encounters, using family systems theory as our theoretical lens. The sample included 36,675 parents of children with developmental or chronic health conditions who reported visiting a health-care provider within the past 12 months. The independent variable was a combined measure of any developmental or chronic health conditions previously diagnosed in the child being assessed. Dependent variables included parent reports of communication variables related to how often providers listened; showed respect; spent enough time; and explained things well. Multivariable logistic regression was used to evaluate the odds of receiving PFCC using a dichotomous measure of PFCC quality and separate domains. Results found that 1) the dichotomous variable of PFCC showed that parents of children with health conditions were less likely to report their provider always performed all elements of PFCC compared to parents whose children did not have any health conditions; 2) parents of children with developmental or chronic health conditions were less likely to report their provider always explained things well compared to parents whose children did not have any health conditions. Efforts to improve PFCC should focus on training providers to demonstrate high-quality practices to improve health outcomes for pediatric patients with developmental or chronic conditions.

We performed a nationwide cohort study using Medicare claims data (parts A, B and D for 2008-2017). RA was identified with a validated algorithm using RA diagnosis codes and DMARD prescription. RA-ILD was identified with a validated algorithm using ILD diagnosis codes by a rheumatologist/pulmonologist. RA-ILD was categorized as prevalent or incident relative to the initial RA observation (baseline/index date). We compared the total mortality of RA-ILD to RA without ILD using multivariable Cox regression, adjusting for baseline covariates. For cause-specific mortality, Fine and Gray subdistribution hazard ratios (sdHRs) were estimated to handle competing risks of alternative mortality causes.
Among 509787 RA patients (mean age 72.6 years, 76.2% female), 10306 (2.0%) had prevalent RA-ILD at baseline. After baseline, 13372 (2.6%) developed RA-ILD during 1873127 person-years of follow-up (median 3.0 years/person). During follow-up, 38.7% of RA-ILD patients died compared with 20.7% of RA patients without ILD. In this study, we identified 1830 transcripts regulated by HOXA10 in ESCs by RNA interference (RNAi) and RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis, of which 980 were positively regulated by HOXA10 and 850 were negatively regulated by HOXA10. Interestingly, matrix metallopeptidase-11 was downregulated by HOXA10 in stromal cells verified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis. Pathway analysis demonstrated that the target genes were enriched in various pathways, including cellular metabolism, DNA replication and repair, cell junction, and lysosome and signal transduction. However, no specific measurement approach has been proposed for old age. The aim of this study is to augment the existing HLS-EU-Q16 scale (16 items) by items sensitive to age-specific aspects of health literacy to ensure validity and reliability for use in old age. In a first step, the HLS-EU-Q16 was administered in a sample of 463 individuals aged 72 - 92 years. Psychometric properties were evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis and item-response-theory item fit statistics. Scale reliability was found to be poor in this population segment. In a second step, age-specific items were developed based on qualitative in-depth interviews with older persons. In a third step, we tested if the additional set of age-specific items was able to enhance a valid and reliable measurement of health literacy in a second sample of older adults (N = 107, 49 - 91 years). With the inclusion of an eight-item add-on, it was possible to measure health literacy in old and very old age with both high validity and satisfying precision (reliability = 0.80). The study contributes to a population-specific measurement of health literacy.
While childhood social risk factors appear to be associated with adult obesity, it is unclear whether exposure to multiple childhood social risk factors is associated with accelerated weight gain during adulthood.
We used the Medical Research Council National Survey of Health and Development, a British population-based birth cohort study of participants born in 1946, height and weight were measured by nurses at ages 36, 43, 53 and 60-64 and self-reported at 20 and 26 years. The 9 childhood socioeconomic risk factors and 8 binary childhood psychosocial risk factors were measured, with 13 prospectively measured at age 4 years (or at 7 or 11 years if missing) and 3 were recalled when participants were age 43. Multilevel modelling was used to examine the association between the number of childhood social risk factors and changes in body mass index (BMI) with age.

In this study, we identified 1830 transcripts regulated by HOXA10 in ESCs by RNA interference (RNAi) and RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis, of which 980 were positively regulated by HOXA10 and 850 were negatively regulated by HOXA10. Interestingly, matrix metallopeptidase-11 was downregulated by HOXA10 in stromal cells verified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis. The aim of this study is to augment the existing HLS-EU-Q16 scale (16 items) by items sensitive to age-specific aspects of health literacy to ensure validity and reliability for use in old age. In a first step, the HLS-EU-Q16 was administered in a sample of 463 individuals aged 72 - 92 years. Psychometric properties were evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis and item-response-theory item fit statistics. Scale reliability was found to be poor in this population segment. In a second step, age-specific items were developed based on qualitative in-depth interviews with older persons. In a third step, we tested if the additional set of age-specific items was able to enhance a valid and reliable measurement of health literacy in a second sample of older adults (N = 107, 49 - 91 years). With the inclusion of an eight-item add-on, it was possible to measure health literacy in old and very old age with both high validity and satisfying precision (reliability = 0.80). The study contributes to a population-specific measurement of health literacy. To evaluate if a values clarification workshop conducted at Catholic hospital training programs influenced obstetrics and gynecology residents' abortion attitudes.
Between 2018 and 2019, we provided a values clarification workshop focused on abortion care to 47 obstetrics and gynecology residents at five Catholic programs that do not provide abortion training. Participants received a pre-survey eliciting participant characteristics, and training experiences. On pre- and post-surveys, we asked participants to respond to abortion scenarios using a five-point Likert scales (1 = strongly disagree, 2 = somewhat disagree 3 = neither agree nor disagree, 4 = somewhat agree, 5 = strongly agree). We calculated descriptive frequencies, report the proportions agreeing with the statements (Likert ≥4) before and after the workshop, and compared median Likert responses using Wilcoxon matched pair test.
Forty-one participants (87%) completed both surveys. Twelve (29%) reported Catholic religion, six (15%) reported thei and gynecology residents at Catholic hospitals experience limited training in abortion care. The lipid synthesis and metabolism-related genes represented by TFAP2 and PLD1 were differentially expressed in aged laying breeders. Experimental finisher diets consisted of 5 increasing levels of apparent nitrogen corrected ME (2,800, 2,925, 3,050, 3,175, and 3,300 kcal/kg set at 19.5% crude protein and 1.0% dLys at each level) to represent 80, 90, 100, 110, and 120% ME of Evonik AminoChick energy level giving 2 × 5 factorial design and were fed from 22-42 d. All other amino acid levels in diets were formulated to a fixed ratio of dLys level. There were nine replicate pens for each diet and each line. The experiment was conducted twice-once in hot season (barn averages 77.55 ˚F and 86.04% RH) and another in cool season (barn averages 69.91 ˚F and 63.98% RH) of the year. Wooden breast myopathy upregulated expressions of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and the phosphorylation of Smad 2 and 3, thereby activating TGF-β-mediated Smad signaling pathway, which further enhanced the transcription of profibrotic mediators. In addition, regulators involved in collagen biosynthesis and cross-linking including prolyl 4-hydroxylase, lysyl oxidase, lysyl hydroxylase, and decorin were increased in the WB muscle. Finally, the expressions of both matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMP) were increased in the WB muscle, which might be related with reduced ECM remodeling. During 0-19 d of age, the inclusion of the prime hulls at 3 levels had no significant effects on growth performance, but the California-type hulls at 9% increased feed intake (P = 0.02) and feed conversion ratio (P less then 0.01), compared with control. The prime hulls at 9% decreased (P less then 0.01) ileal dry matter and ileal nitrogen digestibility, and the California-type hulls at 9% only decreased ileal dry matter digestibility, but both prime hulls and California-type hulls at 6% had no effects on ileal dry matter digestibility and nitrogen-corrected apparent metabolizable energy compared to control. In addition, inclusion of prime hulls at 3% decreased (P less then 0.01) AMEn compared with control group. In this experiment, a total of 264 AA commercial male broilers (21 d old) were assigned to 4 treatment groups with 6 replicates of 11 chickens for a 21-day trial period, the frequency of head-scratching and head-shaking behavior at the initial stage (2, 24, and 72 h) of ammonia exposure were recorded, and the production performance indices and the lung pathological changes after 21 d of ammonia exposure were observed. The correlation analysis was established between head behavior and production performance indices. Results showed that head-scratching behavior increased under 15 ppm ammonia for 72 h, head-shaking behavior increased when exposure to 15 ppm ammonia for 2, 24, and 72 h, and lung tissue was injured when exposure to 15 ppm ammonia for 21 d. However, exposure to 15 ppm ammonia did not influence growth performance.

The correlation analysis was established between head behavior and production performance indices.
