To assess the success of a human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination program among adolescent girls aged 9-14 years in Haiti and to understand predictors of completion of a two-dose HPV vaccination series.
Data collection was conducted during HPV vaccination campaigns in Port-au-Prince between August 2016 and April 2017. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression models were used to examine characteristics associated with vaccination series completion of school based and non-school based vaccination delivery modalities.
Of the 2,445 adolescent girls who participated in the awareness program, 1,994 participants (1,307 in non-school program, 687 in school program) received the first dose of the vaccine; 1,199 (92%) in the non-school program and 673 (98%) in the school program also received the second dose. Menarche (OR 1.87; 95% CI, 1.11-3.14), if the participant was a prior patient at the GHESKIO clinics (OR 2.17; 95% CI, 1.32-3.58), and participating in the school-based program (OR 4.17; 95% CI, 2.14-8.12) were significantly associated with vaccination completion.
Vaccination in school- and non-school-based settings was successful, suggesting that a nationwide HPV vaccination campaign using either approach would be successful using either approach.

Kinetic data obtained during gait can be used to clarify the biomechanical pathogenesis of osteoarthritis of the lower extremity. This study aimed to investigate the difference in ankle varus moment between the varus angulation and medial translation types of medial ankle osteoarthritis, and to identify the radiographic measurements associated with ankle varus moment.

The lateral talo-first metatarsal angle, being significantly associated with the ankle varus moment, should be considered for correction during motion-preserving surgeries for medial ankle osteoarthritis to restore the biomechanical balance of the ankle.Mudstone interlayer is a weak layer in rock engineering. When it is subjected to continuous stress higher than its damage threshold, due to the dislocation of particles in mudstone crystals and the expansion of cracks, mudstone strength is gradually damaged and deteriorated and the strain gradually increases, thus accelerating the phenomenon of creep damage. In order to describe the characteristics of the whole process of mudstone aging deformation, based on the damage evolution of strength parameters (cohesion and internal friction coefficient) with stress and time in mudstone creep tests, a novel damage nonlinear viscoelastoplastic body (D-NVPB) is proposed through improving traditional plastic element. D-NVPB describes the nonlinear characteristics of the accelerated creep stage of mudstone. With the element combination method, D-NVPB is connected with the Burgers model in series to form a new nonlinear damage creep model (D-NVEP model). The analysis results of creep characteristics theoretically verified the rationality of the model in describing the instantaneous elasticity, viscoelasticity, and nonlinear viscoplastic characteristics of the complete creep curve of mudstone. With the data obtained in the uniaxial compression creep test of mudstone under the action of a stress level of 14 MPa, based on the Levenberg-Marquardt nonlinear least squares method, the fitting calculation was performed through piecewise fitting and overall fitting. The correlation coefficient was 0.9909, which verified the applicability of the model. The obtained model parameters by the identification were used to predict the mudstone creep curve under the stress levels of 13 MPa and 15 MPa. The good prediction results further verified the feasibility of the model. Compared with the traditional creep model, the D-NVEP model can better describe the nonlinear characteristics of the accelerated creep stage and quantitatively display the strength damage evolution process of rock in the creep failure process.Low performance of high school students and repeating a year are major problems in the education system. Low performance in the classroom generates negative emotions in young people and has been related to development of school burnout. The objective of this study was to analyze the repercussions of academic performance on burnout in high school students, and establish the role of emotional intelligence in this relationship. The sample was made up of 1287 high school students aged 14 to 18, who filled out questionnaires for evaluation of these variables. The results showed that youths who had failed a subject or had repeated a year showed more exhaustion and cynicism than their classmates with better performance and higher academic efficacy. A relationship was also found between school burnout and emotional intelligence in these adolescents, positive for self-efficacy and negative for cynicism and exhaustion. The model results showed that low academic performance affected burnout level, and that stress management and mood in emotional intelligence acted as a mediator in this relationship.

Many problems with primary care physicians' psychosocial working conditions have been documented. Many studies on working condition have used the Effort-Reward-Imbalance (ERI) model, which posits that poor health and well-being may result from imbalances between the level of effort employees perceive that they put into their work and the rewards they receive. The model has not been used in qualitative research or applied to investigate primary care physicians' working conditions. The aim of this study was to apply the ERI model to explore the perceived efforts and rewards by primary care physicians in Sweden and approaches they take to cope with potential imbalances between these efforts and rewards.
The study has a qualitative design, using semi-structured interviews. A purposeful sampling strategy was used to achieve a heterogeneous sample of primary care physicians who represented a broad spectrum of experiences and perceptions. We recruited 21 physicians; 15 were employed in public health care and 6 b be useful to explore physicians' primary care work and working conditions but its applicability likely depends on the type of work or professions being studied.
16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing (16S analysis) is widely used to analyze microbiota with next-generation sequencing technologies. Here, we compared fecal 16S analysis data from 192 Japanese volunteers using the modified V1-V2 (V12) and the standard V3-V4 primer (V34) sets to optimize the gut microbiota analysis protocol.
QIIME1 and QIIME2 analysis revealed a higher number of unclassified representative sequences in the V34 data than in the V12 data. The comparison of bacterialcomposition demonstrated that at the phylum level, Actinobacteria and Verrucomicrobia were detected at higher levels with V34 than with V12. Among these phyla, we observed higher relative compositions of Bifidobacterium and Akkermansia with V34. To estimate the actual abundance, we performed quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assays for Akkermansia and Bifidobacterium. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/bms-986365.html We found that the abundance of Akkermansia as detected by qPCR was close to that in V12 data, but was markedly lower than that in V34 data. Ovarian cancer is a common cancer type in women and is often associated with onset of malnutrition. Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) is a nutritional intervention method that has been reported to have controversial effect on cancer patients. In the present retrospective study, we sought to explore the prevalence of malnutrition assessed by the Nutritional Risk Index (NRI) and its association with survival in advanced stage ovarian cancer patients. We also compared the post-operative outcome of the malnourished patients treated with either TPN or conservative management.
A total of 415 patients with advanced stage ovarian cancer were separated into 4 nutrition groups based on the NRI scores. We found that a number of factors were significantly different among the 4 nutrition groups, including age, serum albumin level, BMI and NRI; among which serum albumin level and NRI were identified to be independent predictors of progression-free and overall survival. In the moderately and severely malnourished patients, those who were treated with TPN had significantly shorter hospitalization period, lower serum albumin level and lower BMI after surgery. In addition, serum albumin level, use of TPN and number of patients with complications were closely related to the hospital stay duration.
Malnutrition status is closely associated with survival of advanced stage ovarian cancer patients. These patients may benefit from TPN treatment for reduced hospitalization, especially with the onset of hypoalbuminemia.

Preterm birth, defined as parturition before 37 completed weeks of gestation, is associated with an increased risk of neonatal complications and death, as well as poor health and disease later in life. Epigenetics could contribute to the mechanism underlying preterm birth.
Genome-wide DNA methylation analysis of whole blood cells from 10 women (5 term and 5 preterm deliveries) was performed using an Illumina Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChips array. We identified 1,581 differentially methylated CpG sites in promoter regions between term and preterm birth. Although the differences were not significant after correcting for multiple tests, seven CpGs on the genomically imprinted vault RNA2-1 (VTRNA2-1; also known as non-coding RNA, nc886 or miR-886) showed the largest differences (range 26-39 %). Pyrosequencing verification was performed with blood samples from pregnant women recruited additionally (39 term and 43 preterm deliveries). In total, 28 (34.1 %) samples showed hypomethylation of the VTRNA2-1 psed by the pro-inflammatory cytokines. Further studies are needed to confirm the association of VTRNA2-1 methylation with preterm birth in a large population, and to elucidate the underlying mechanism.
A social mobilization (SM) initiative contributed to India's success in polio elimination. This was the CORE Group Polio Project (CGPP) India, a partner of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) SM Network and which continued its SM activities, even during the polio-free period through a network of multi-level social mobilizers. This paper assesses the effects of this community-level SM (CLSM) intervention on the extent of community engagement and performance of polio Supplementary Immunization Activity campaigns (SIAs) during the post-polio-endemic period (i.e., from March 2012 to September 2017).

We used secondary, cluster-level data from CGPP India's Management Information System, including 52 SIAs held from January 2008 to September 2017, covering 56 blocks from 12 districts of UP. We computed various indicators and performed Generalized Estimating Equations based analysis to assess the statistical significance of differences between the outcomes of intervention and non-intervention areas.

During aging, hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) lose progressively both their self-renewal and differentiation potential. The precise molecular mechanisms of this phenomenon are not well established. To uncover the molecular events underlying this event, we have performed a bioinformatics analysis of 650 single-cell transcriptomes.
Single-cell transcriptome analyses of expression heterogeneity, cell cycle, and cell trajectory in human cell compartment enriched in hematopoietic stem cell compartment were investigated in the bone marrow according to the age of the donors. Identification of aging-related nodules was identified by weighted correlation network analysis in this primitive compartment.
The analysis of single-cell transcriptomes allowed to uncover a major upregulation of EGR1 in human-aged lineage-CD34+CD38- cells which present cell cycle dysregulation with reduction of G2/M phase according to less expression of CCND2 during S phase. EGR1 upregulation in aging hematopoietic stem cells was found to lated transcriptional program in aged human HSCs. EGR1 and its program were found to be connected to the aging of human HSC with dissociation of quiescence property and cell cycle phase progression in this primitive hematopoietic compartment.
EGR1 was found to be connected to the aging of human HSC and highlighted a specific cell trajectory contributing to the dysregulation of an inflammatory and leukemia-related transcriptional program in aged human HSCs. Reproductive genetic carrier screening is a type of genetic testing available to those planning a pregnancy, or during their first trimester, to understand their risk of having a child with a severe genetic condition. There is a lack of consensus for 'what to measure' in studies on this intervention, leading to heterogeneity in choice of outcomes and methods of measurement. Such outcome heterogeneity has implications for the quality and comparability of these studies and has led to a lack of robust research evidence in the literature to inform policy and decision-making around the offer of this screening. As reproductive genetic carrier screening becomes increasingly accessible within the general population, it is timely to investigate the outcomes of this intervention.
The development of a core outcome set is an established methodology to address issues with outcome heterogeneity in research. We aim to develop a core outcome set for reproductive genetic carrier screening to clarify and standardise outcomdevelopment process and its novel application in the setting of genetic testing. This core outcome set will support the standardisation of outcome reporting in reproductive carrier screening research and contribute to an evolving literature on outcomes to evaluate genetic testing and genetic counselling as health interventions. Tonsillectomy is one of the most frequently performed surgeries in children and young adults worldwide. For decades, tonsillectomy was the surgical treatment of choice for recurrent acute tonsillitis. Tonsillotomy was used in some countries as an alternative to tonsillectomy only for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea in young children. In recent years, an increase of tonsillotomy also to treat recurrent acute tonsillitis can be observed. Therefore, the German Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG) was commissioned by the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) to investigate whether tonsillotomy offers advantages compared to tonsillectomy. The meta-analysis of the IQWiG including studies until 2016 revealed that the long-term benefits and harms of tonsillotomy compared to tonsillectomy are unclear. During aging, hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) lose progressively both their self-renewal and differentiation potential. The precise molecular mechanisms of this phenomenon are not well established. To uncover the molecular events underlying this event, we have performed a bioinformatics analysis of 650 single-cell transcriptomes. Single-cell transcriptome analyses of expression heterogeneity, cell cycle, and cell trajectory in human cell compartment enriched in hematopoietic stem cell compartment were investigated in the bone marrow according to the age of the donors. Identification of aging-related nodules was identified by weighted correlation network analysis in this primitive compartment. The analysis of single-cell transcriptomes allowed to uncover a major upregulation of EGR1 in human-aged lineage-CD34+CD38- cells which present cell cycle dysregulation with reduction of G2/M phase according to less expression of CCND2 during S phase. EGR1 upregulation in aging hematopoietic stem cells was found to lated transcriptional program in aged human HSCs. EGR1 and its program were found to be connected to the aging of human HSC with dissociation of quiescence property and cell cycle phase progression in this primitive hematopoietic compartment. To investigate the association of oral health condition with the occurrence of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) in a cancer population.
A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted with cancer patients exposed to bisphosphonates for at least 7months. Dental and periodontal conditions were assessed by epidemiological indices.
The sample consisted of 80 patients under bisphosphonate therapy, nine of which were allocated to group 1 (with MRONJ) and 71 to group 2 (without MRONJ). Osteonecrosis cases presented 19 decayed, missing, and filled teeth on average. Moderate gingival inflammation was noted in both groups and together with severe inflammation exceeded 50% of the groups. The presence of dental calculus was detected in about half of the individuals in both groups. Shallow periodontal pockets were detected in about 25% of both groups. Deep periodontal pockets were more prevalent among patients with osteonecrosis. Vascular changes were assessed using a photoplethysmograph that aimed to detect changes in pelvic vasocongestion. An important advantage of detecting sexual response within the anal canal is that the device, its anatomical placement, and the data output are identical for women and men, therefore facilitating gender comparisons of response patterns. In this study, the vaginal photoplethysmograph (VPP), the most common measure of genital response in women, was administered intra-anally as an anal photoplethysmograph (APG) to examine its validity and sensitivity as an indicator of sexual response. The final sample comprised 20 women and 20 men who were exposed to 12, 90-s sexual and nonsexual film clips while their APG responses were recorded. Participants also rated their sexual arousal and affective responses to the stimuli. There was evidence that APG responses were specific to sexual stimuli and were sensitive to erotic intensity in women. The degree of discrimination between sexual and nonsexual stimuli was lower in men. Unlike most sexual psychophysiological studies, the positive correlation between physiological and self-reported sexual arousal was stronger in women than in men. There was a relatively high number of data artifacts and the waveform morphology was uncharacteristic of that typically observed with VPP. The potential role of anal musculature interference on the APG signal is discussed, as well as avenues for future research.
To assess the performance change and physiological adaptations following nine sessions of short high-intensity interval training (HIIT) or sprint-interval training (SIT) in sprint kayakers.
Twelve trained kayakers performed an incremental test and 3 time trials (200m, 500m and 1000m) on a kayak ergometer. Oxygen consumption (V̇O
) and muscle oxygenation of the latissimus dorsi, biceps brachii, and vastus lateralis were measured. Athletes were then paired for sex and V̇O
max and randomized into a HIIT or a SIT training group, and performed nine training sessions before repeating the tests.
Training improved performance in HIIT (200m + 3.8 ± 3.1%, p = 0.06; 500m + 2.1 ± 4.1%, p = 0.056; 1000m + 3.0 ± 4.6%, p = 0.13) but changes in performance remained within the smallest worthwhile change in SIT (200m + 0.8 ± 4.1%, p = 0.59; 500m + 0.5 ± 4.1%, p = 0.87; 1000m + 1.3 ± 4.6%, p = 0.57). In the 1000m, training led to a greater deoxygenation in the biceps brachii and vastus lateralis in HIIT, and in the latissimus dorsi in SIT.

Variations in cage design, material, and graft shape can affect osteointegration and adjacent segment range of motion (ROM) and stress after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the biomechanical properties of a novel dynamic cervical cage design in both titanium (Ti) and polyether ether ketone (PEEK) with variations in bone graft shape using a single level ACDF (FE) model.
A 3-dimensional C3-C6 FE model was developed using computed tomography scan data from a healthy male subject. The novel S-shaped dynamic interbody fusion cage with a zero-profile fixation was inserted at the C4-C5 level with 4 different bone graft shapes (square, circular, rectangular, and elliptical). Changes in segmental ROM and maximum von Mises stresses at the fusion and adjacent segments were analyzed.

Detection of multiple intracranial aneurysms (MIAs) in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is common and the optimal management of the additional unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIA) is often a matter of debate. We calculate the incidence and the factors associated with subsequent aSAHs from untreated additional aneurysms in a single-center group of patients with aSAH and MIAs.
Charts of patients with MIAs admitted to our neurosurgery department for aSAH between January 2000 and March 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Incidence rate and factors associated with subsequent aSAHs were calculated with univariable and multivariable analyses.
Of the unruptured aneurysms, 50% were preventively treated. During a median follow-up of 3 years, 20 of 174 patients (11.5%) presented with a second aSAH. Incidence of rupture of an additional untreated aneurysm was 18.05 per 1000 person/years (confidence interval, 10.69-30.47). When common hemostatic methods, such as suturing, cautery, and compression, fail to arrest bleeding during surgery, various local hemostatic agents are used. We aimed to evaluate the hemostatic efficacy and safety of CollaStat (Dalim Tissen Co. Ltd., Seoul, Korea), a novel thrombin-containing, collagen-based topical haemostatic agent used in spinal surgery, by comparing it with Floseal (Baxter Healthcare, Deerfield, Illinois, USA).
We performed a randomized controlled trial in 78 patients who underwent spinal surgery. The participants were randomly assigned to either an intervention group (use of CollaStat) or a control group (use of Floseal). We compared successful haemostasis rate, time to hemostasis, length of hospital stay, amount of fluid drainage, and rate of adverse events between the 2 groups.

Considering the wide spectrum of clinical features in those with mucopolysaccharidosis type IVA, individualized multidisciplinary treatment is recommended.
Antimicrobial sonodynamic therapy (aSDT) is an adjunctive modality, which uses ultrasound irradiation to kill microbial cells by the activation of a sonosensitizer. The aim of this study was to evaluated the synergistic biocidal effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) and titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO NPs) as the metal oxide nanoparticles (MONPs)-assisted ultrasound irradiation against Streptococcus mutans biofilms. Following preparation and characterization of MONPs, cellular uptake and generation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) were assessed. After determination of the sub-significant reduction (SSR) doses of ZnO NPs, TiO NPs, ZnO/TiO NPs, and ultrasound intensity against S. mutans, anti-biofilm effects of aSDT were assessed using colorimetric assay, plate counting, and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) analysis. Also, the metabolic activity of S. mutans and the expression levels of glucosyltransferase B (gtfB) as a main virulence factor of S. mutans welabs. We show that compared with its DNA-bound state, apo Polζ displays enhanced flexibility that correlates with concerted motions associated with expansion of the Polζ DNA-binding channel upon DNA binding. We also identified a lysine residue that obstructs the DNA-binding channel in apo Polζ, suggesting a gating mechanism. The Polζ subunit Rev7 is a hub protein that directly binds Rev1 and is a component of several other protein complexes such as the shieldin DNA double-strand break repair complex. We analyzed the molecular interactions of budding yeast Rev7 in the context of Polζ and those of human Rev7 in the context of shieldin using a crystal structure of Rev7 bound to a fragment of the shieldin-3 protein. Our data indicate that the nuclear translocation of Rad17 is functionally linked to the proteasomal degradation. The ATP-binding activity of Rad17, but not hydrolysis, is essential for the nuclear translocation, and the ATPase domain orchestrates the nuclear translocation, the proteasomal degradation, as well as the interaction with the 9-1-1 complex. The Rad17 mutant that lacked a nuclear localization signal was proficient in the interaction with the 9-1-1 complex, suggesting cytosolic association of Rad17 and the 9-1-1 complex. Finally, we identified two tandem canonical and noncanonical destruction boxes in the N-terminus of Rad17 as the bona fide destruction box, supporting the role of anaphase-promoting complex in the degradation of Rad17. Vitamin D deficiency is considered as a risk factor in many conditions, and there is growing evidence of its potential role in the severity of COVID-19 outcomes. However, an alarmingly high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency is reported in many regions, and vitamin D supplementation is commonly recommended, particularly during wintertime. To reduce the risk for vitamin D deficiency in the Slovenian population during the COVID-19 pandemic, we conducted mass media intervention with an educational campaign. The objective of this study was to investigate vitamin D supplementation practices in Slovenia before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to determine the effects of the educational intervention on supplementation practices. Two data collections were conducted using an online panel with quota sampling for age, sex, and geographical location. A pre-intervention (N = 602, April 2020) and post-intervention (N = 606, December 2020) sampling were done during the first and second COVID-19 lockdown, respectively. We also focused on the identification of different factors connected to vitamin D supplementation, with a particular emphasis on vitamin D-related knowledge. Study results showed significant increase in vitamin D supplementation in the population. Penetration of the supplementation increased from 33% in April to 56% in December 2020. The median daily vitamin D intake in supplement users was 25 μg, with about 95% of supplement users taking safe vitamin D levels below 100 μg/daily. Vitamin D-related knowledge (particularly about dietary sources of vitamin D, the health-related impact of vitamin D, and the prevalence of deficiency) was identified as a key independent predictor of vitamin D supplementation. Based on the study findings, we prepared recommendations to support the development of effective awareness campaigns for increasing supplementation of vitamin D.Objectives To describe the adherence of the children to the Swiss Society for Nutrition (SSN) dietary guidelines, assess determinants of adherence, and compare these findings with a previous study in the same population. Methods Data from 312 children ages 5-12 were collected through a survey and a 2-day food record. Results SSN guidelines were not met for any food category, although there were improvements vegetables (4.5% in this study vs. 0% in the previous study), sweets, snacks, and soft drinks (SSD) (12.5 vs. 9.5%), and fruit (45.5 vs. 10.4%). Higher Body Mass Index (BMI) in children was associated with higher adherence to guidelines for protein intake. Higher parental BMI was associated with higher adherence to vegetables. Parental lower educational level was associated with higher adherence for cereal. Dietary protein patterns were calculated based on the sources of protein. The data of infant eczema was assessed at 6 months of age using the symptom questionnaire of eczema. Logistic regression was carried out to examine the associations between maternal dietary protein patterns and infant eczema. Results The cumulative incidence of infant eczema at 6 months of age was 51.19%. However, an alarmingly high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency is reported in many regions, and vitamin D supplementation is commonly recommended, particularly during wintertime. To reduce the risk for vitamin D deficiency in the Slovenian population during the COVID-19 pandemic, we conducted mass media intervention with an educational campaign. The objective of this study was to investigate vitamin D supplementation practices in Slovenia before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to determine the effects of the educational intervention on supplementation practices. Two data collections were conducted using an online panel with quota sampling for age, sex, and geographical location. A pre-intervention (N = 602, April 2020) and post-intervention (N = 606, December 2020) sampling were done during the first and second COVID-19 lockdown, respectively. We also focused on the identification of different factors connected to vitamin D supplementation, with a particular emphasis on vitamin D-related knowledge. Study results showed significant increase in vitamin D supplementation in the population. Penetration of the supplementation increased from 33% in April to 56% in December 2020. The median daily vitamin D intake in supplement users was 25 μg, with about 95% of supplement users taking safe vitamin D levels below 100 μg/daily. Vitamin D-related knowledge (particularly about dietary sources of vitamin D, the health-related impact of vitamin D, and the prevalence of deficiency) was identified as a key independent predictor of vitamin D supplementation. Based on the study findings, we prepared recommendations to support the development of effective awareness campaigns for increasing supplementation of vitamin D.Objectives To describe the adherence of the children to the Swiss Society for Nutrition (SSN) dietary guidelines, assess determinants of adherence, and compare these findings with a previous study in the same population. Methods Data from 312 children ages 5-12 were collected through a survey and a 2-day food record. The associations of children- and parent-related factors with adherence of the children to guidelines were assessed by logistic regression analyses. Results SSN guidelines were not met for any food category, although there were improvements vegetables (4.5% in this study vs. 0% in the previous study), sweets, snacks, and soft drinks (SSD) (12.5 vs. 9.5%), and fruit (45.5 vs. 10.4%). Higher Body Mass Index (BMI) in children was associated with higher adherence to guidelines for protein intake. Higher parental BMI was associated with higher adherence to vegetables. Parental lower educational level was associated with higher adherence for cereal. Conclusion Despite improvements since the last eating behavior assessment in this population, children consume too little fruit, vegetables, cereal, and milk and dairy products, and too much SSD and proteins. Further efforts are needed to promote healthy eating to children and achieve adherence to guidelines.Background Previous studies have suggested that maternal dietary protein was associated with allergic diseases in offspring, but few studies have evaluated the influence of dietary protein patterns. Maternal dietary protein was estimated using a validated face-to-face food frequency questionnaire at 20-28 weeks' gestation from 2017 to 2018. Dietary protein patterns were calculated based on the sources of protein. The data of infant eczema was assessed at 6 months of age using the symptom questionnaire of eczema. Logistic regression was carried out to examine the associations between maternal dietary protein patterns and infant eczema. The placement of the PEG tube along with tracheostomy in patients with COVID-19 and prolonged VDRF may expedite discharge planning and increase the availability of ICU beds for other patients. Nickel has been widely researched in the electrooxidation of borohydride due to its low cost and abundant reserves, but its catalytic activity and stability need to be improved for practical application. In this work, a Ni and P deposited nickel foam (Ni-P@NF) catalyst electrode with a unique hierarchical structure is prepared by a simple one-step electrodeposition method. The structure, morphology, and catalytic performances of Ni-P@NF are investigated systematically. The results show that Ni-P@NF exhibits excellent catalytic activity, stability, and durability during borohydride electrooxidation. On the Ni-P@NF catalyst electrode, the current density for borohydride oxidation can reach 225 mA cm-2; the fuel utilization is up to 84% and 97% of the initial current is maintained even after 500 cycles of cyclic voltammetry (CV), while a traditional H-type direct sodium borohydride fuel cell (DBFC) assembled with a Ni-P@NF catalyst anode can deliver a maximum power density of 52.5 mW cm-2 and an open circuit potential of 1.87 V. These merits can be attributed to the unique hierarchical structure of the Ni-P catalyst and the introduction of phosphorus. Cyclodextrins (CDs) are edible and biocompatible natural cyclic compounds that can encapsulate essential oils, flavours, volatile aroma compounds, and other substances. Complexation with CD-based materials improves the solubility and stability of volatile compounds and protects the bioactivity of the core materials. Therefore, the development of CD/volatile compound nanosystems is a key research area in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. This review briefly introduces the main types of natural CD; preparation methods of CD-based materials as carriers for aromatic substances or essential oils; characterisation methods used to calculate the interaction between CDs and volatile aroma compounds; molecular docking and simulation methods; and the application of CD-based nanosystems in different industries. The review aims to provide guidance for relevant practitioners in selecting appropriate CD materials and characterisation methods.Bio-based aerogel (polysaccharide cryogel) have led to a growing interest because of eco-friendliness, sustainability and excellent thermal insulation properties. The ester cross-linking of polysaccharide component achieved strong web-like entangled structure when using 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid and sodium hypophosphite as eco-friendly co-additives, meanwhile significantly improved flame retardancy of SCC-B due to phosphorylation. The thermal kinetic behavior of SCC-B was investigated by Flynn-Wall-Ozawa and Kissinger models. Results indicated that peak heat release rate and total heat release of SCC-B decreased from 30 W/g to 20 W/g and 15 kJ/g to 10 kJ/g, respectively. Furthermore, the second-degree burn time of SCC-B reached up to 87.1 s under heat exposure of 11.3 kW/m2. Hydrogels containing WGO swelled less than pristine hydrogels. Samples with 1% WGO and no WGO showed swelling of 5.9 and 10.5 g/g after 8 h. WGO inclusion resulted in reduced, but more stable fluid handling properties, with more uniform pore distribution (100-200 μm). Wheat germ oil (WGO) loaded hydrogels have successfully formed on textile nonwovens by cross-linking sodium alginate (SA) with poly(ethylene glycol) diglycidyl ether (PEGDGE). Following freeze-drying, textile-hydrogel composites have been examined according to their physical properties, pH, fluid handling capacity, water vapour permeability, morphology, chemical structure, and cytotoxicity. Hydrogels containing WGO swelled less than pristine hydrogels. Samples with 1% WGO and no WGO showed swelling of 5.9 and 10.5 g/g after 8 h. WGO inclusion resulted in reduced, but more stable fluid handling properties, with more uniform pore distribution (100-200 μm). Moreover, the proliferation of NIH/3T3 cells significantly improved with 1% WGO contained hydrogels. Also, commercial self-adhesive dressings that secure the hydrogels to the wound area were investigated regarding transfer properties.
