As we evaluate in 20,084 individuals from distinct asymptomatic (Framingham Heart Study, NLST) and stable and acute chest pain (PROMISE, ROMICAT-II) cohorts, the automated score is a strong predictor of cardiovascular events, independent of risk factors (multivariable-adjusted hazard ratios up to 4.3), shows high correlation with manual quantification, and robust test-retest reliability. Our results demonstrate the clinical value of a deep learning system for the automated prediction of cardiovascular events. Implementation into clinical practice would address the unmet need of automating proven imaging biomarkers to guide management and improve population health.Here we benchmark device-to-device variation in field-effect transistors (FETs) based on monolayer MoS2 and WS2 films grown using metal-organic chemical vapor deposition process. Our study involves 230 MoS2 FETs and 160 WS2 FETs with channel lengths ranging from 5 μm down to 100 nm. We use statistical measures to evaluate key FET performance indicators for benchmarking these two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayers against existing literature as well as ultra-thin body Si FETs. Our results show consistent performance of 2D FETs across 1 × 1 cm2 chips owing to high quality and uniform growth of these TMDs followed by clean transfer onto device substrates. We are able to demonstrate record high carrier mobility of 33 cm2 V-1 s-1 in WS2 FETs, which is a 1.5X improvement compared to the best reported in the literature. Additionally, we present recent studies that link MuSC function with cellular heterogeneity, highlighting the complex regulation of self-renewal in regeneration, muscle disorders and aging. Finally, we discuss MuSC metabolism and its role, as well as the multifaceted regulation of MuSCs by their niche. The presented conceptual advances in the MuSC field impact on our general understanding of stem cells and their therapeutic use in regenerative medicine.Optical computing holds significant promise of information processing with ultrahigh speed and low power consumption. Recent developments in nanophotonic structures have generated renewed interests due to the prospects of performing analog optical computing with compact devices. As one prominent example, spatial differentiation has been demonstrated with nanophotonic structures and directly applied for edge detection in image processing. However, broadband isotropic two-dimensional differentiation, which is required in most imaging processing applications, has not been experimentally demonstrated yet. Here, we establish a connection between two-dimensional optical spatial differentiation and a nontrivial topological charge in the optical transfer function. Based on this connection, we experimentally demonstrate an isotropic two-dimensional differentiation with a broad spectral bandwidth, by using the simplest photonic device, i.e. a single unpatterned interface. Our work indicates that exploiting concepts from topological photonics can lead to new opportunities in optical computing.Multi-welled energy landscapes arising in shells with nonzero Gaussian curvature typically fade away as their thickness becomes larger because of the increased bending energy required for inversion. Motivated by this limitation, we propose a strategy to realize doubly curved shells that are bistable for any thickness. We then study the nonlinear dynamic response of one-dimensional (1D) arrays of our universally bistable shells when coupled by compressible fluid cavities. We find that the system supports the propagation of bidirectional transition waves whose characteristics can be tuned by varying both geometric parameters as well as the amount of energy supplied to initiate the waves. However, since our bistable shells have equal energy minima, the distance traveled by such waves is limited by dissipation. To overcome this limitation, we identify a strategy to realize thick bistable shells with tunable energy landscape and show that their strategic placement within the 1D array can extend the propagation distance of the supported bidirectional transition waves.

  • Hemagglutinin is a major surface protein in influenza A virus (IAV), and HA2 is relative conserved among different IAVs. It will be meaningful to identify broad-spectrum epitopes based on the HA2 protein.

    Overlapping peptides of the HA2 protein of the H5N1 IAV A/Mallard/Huadong/S/2005 were synthesized and loaded on modified silica gel film to form a microarray, and antisera against different subtypes of IAVs were used to screen universal epitopes. The selected epitope was further confirmed by western blotting using anti-peptide immune serum and viruses rescued with amino acid substitution. The results showed that 485-FYHKCDNECME-495 of the H5 14th peptide in HA2 had broad-spectrum binding activity with antisera against H1, H3, H4, H5, H6, H7, H8, H9, and H10 subtype IAV. Substitution of amino acids (K or D) in rescued viruses resulted in decreased serum binding, indicating that they were critical residues for serum binding activity. In Immune Epitope Database, some epitopes containing 14-4 peptide were confirmed as ****II-restricted CD4 T cell epitope and had effects on releasing IL-2 or IFN.

    In the EMPA-REG OUTCOME trial (Empagliflozin Cardiovascular Outcome Event Trial) treatment with the sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor empagliflozin significantly reduced heart failure hospitalization (HHF) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) and established cardiovascular disease. The early separation of the HHF event curves within the first 3months of the trial suggest that immediate hemodynamic effects may play a role. However, hitherto no data exist on early effects of SGLT2 inhibitors on hemodynamic parameters and cardiac function. Thus, this study examined early and delayed effects of empagliflozin treatment on hemodynamic parameters including systemic vascular resistance index, cardiac index, and stroke volume index, as well as echocardiographic measures of cardiac function.

    In this placebo-controlled, randomized, double blind, exploratory study patients with T2D were randomized to empagliflozin 10mg or placebo for a period of 3months. Hemodynamic and echocardiographic parine 9.2 ± 2.6; day 1 8.5 ± 2.2; p = 0.005) and remained apparent throughout the study. This was primarily attributable to reduced early mitral inflow velocity E (baseline 0.8 ± 0.2m/s; day 1 0.73 ± 0.2m/sec; p = 0.003).

    Evidence showed that Tai Chi may have beneficial effects among hypertensive individuals, although the results are not convincing. We aim to conduct a high-quality clinical trial with 24-h BP measurement to provide robust evidence of Tai Chi for essential hypertension.

    This is an open-label single-center randomized controlled trial with 3 parallel arms. We will compare Tai Chi with walking and waiting-list control. We will recruit 234 hypertensive patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension and randomly assign them to 3 different groups. Participants in Tai Chi group will receive a group-format Yang style 24-form Tai Chi exercise program, 3 sessions per week for 12 weeks. The walking group will be asked to walk, 3 sessions per week for 12 weeks. The waiting-list group will not receive any interventions and/or exercise training. The primary outcome is the change in average 24-h systolic blood pressure (SBP) between baseline and 12 weeks after randomization. The secondary outcomes include 24-h Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP), average SBP and average DBP during the daytime and night-time, blood pressure (BP) variability, SBP load and DBP load, circadian rhythm of BP, and morning BP surge, endothelial functional indicators, home measured BP, quality of life, adverse events and so on.

    We expect findings of this trial will provide important insight into application of Tai Chi as an effective and acceptable method for hypertensive patients. Successful completion of this proposed study will also contribute to promotion of Tai Chi in the community in the future.

    We surveyed general medicine providers and specialists in a large academic health center (AHC) and its affiliated VHA in the Mid-South in 2017 to determine the cross-sectional association of healthcare system in which the provider practiced (exposure AHC versus VHA) with self-reported provision of evidence-based smoking cessation treatment (delivery of counseling plus smoking cessation medication or referral) at least once in the past 12 months (composite outcome). Multivariable logistic regression with adjustment for specialty was performed in 2017-2019.

    Of 625 healthcare providers surveyed, 407 (65%) responded, and 366 (59%) were analyzed. Most respondents practiced at the AHC (273[75%] vs VHA 93[25%]) and were general internists (215[59%]); pulmonologists (39[11%]); hematologists/oncologists (69[19%]); and gynecologists (43[12%]).

  • Although centromeres have conserved function, centromere-specific histone H3 (CenH3) and centromeric DNA evolve rapidly. The centromere drive model explains this phenomenon as a consequence of the conflict between fast-evolving DNA and CenH3, suggesting asymmetry in female meiosis as a crucial factor. We characterized evolution of the CenH3 protein in three closely related, polyploid mitotic parthenogenetic species of the Meloidogyne incognita group, and in the distantly related meiotic parthenogen Meloidogyne hapla. We identified duplication of the CenH3 gene in a putative sexual ancestral Meloidogyne. We found that one CenH3 (αCenH3) remained conserved in all extant species, including in distant Meloidogyne hapla, whereas the other evolved rapidly and under positive selection into four different CenH3 variants. This pattern of CenH3 evolution in Meloidogyne species suggests the subspecialization of CenH3s in ancestral sexual species. Immunofluorescence performed on mitotic Meloidogyne incognita revealed a dominant role of αCenH3 on its centromere, whereas the other CenH3s have lost their function in mitosis. The observed αCenH3 chromosome distribution disclosed cluster-like centromeric organization. The ChIP-Seq analysis revealed that in M. incognita αCenH3-associated DNA dominantly comprises tandem repeats, composed of divergent monomers which share a completely conserved 19-bp long box. Conserved αCenH3-associated DNA is also confirmed in the related mitotic Meloidogyne incognita group species suggesting preservation of both centromere protein and DNA constituents. In a previous study, we found that amphipol A8-35 could substitute sodium deoxycholate (DOC), a conventional electrophoretic carrier, in clear-native (CN)-PAGE. In this study, we present the optimization of amphipol-based CN-PAGE. We found that the ratio of amphipol A8-35 to α-dodecyl maltoside, a detergent commonly used to solubilize photosynthetic complexes, was critical for resolving photosynthetic machinery in CN-PAGE. In addition, LHCII dissociation from PSII-LHCII was effectively prevented by amphipol-based CN-PAGE compared with that of DOC-based CN-PAGE. Our data strongly suggest that majority of the PSII-LHCII in vivo forms C2S2M2 at least in Arabidopsis and Physcomitrella. The centromere drive model explains this phenomenon as a consequence of the conflict between fast-evolving DNA and CenH3, suggesting asymmetry in female meiosis as a crucial factor. We characterized evolution of the CenH3 protein in three closely related, polyploid mitotic parthenogenetic species of the Meloidogyne incognita group, and in the distantly related meiotic parthenogen Meloidogyne hapla. We identified duplication of the CenH3 gene in a putative sexual ancestral Meloidogyne. We found that one CenH3 (αCenH3) remained conserved in all extant species, including in distant Meloidogyne hapla, whereas the other evolved rapidly and under positive selection into four different CenH3 variants. This pattern of CenH3 evolution in Meloidogyne species suggests the subspecialization of CenH3s in ancestral sexual species. Immunofluorescence performed on mitotic Meloidogyne incognita revealed a dominant role of αCenH3 on its centromere, whereas the other CenH3s have lost their function in mitosis. Methods This retrospective analysis involved 313 morbidly obese patients (body Mass Index [BMI] ≥40) who underwent laparoscopic BS at three medical centers between September 2018 and June 2019. During the trial, no inducement was given to use antibiotics, and the centers had chosen whether to use prophylaxis. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-2016 criteria were used for the diagnosis of SSI. Results Antibiotic prophylaxis was given to 181 patients, and the SSI rate in the entire series was 4.5% (14/313). In adjusted analyses, when patients perceived their provider always knew their medical history, patients were more likely to report taking prescribed medication (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 3.2; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.6, 6.6). Knowledge of medical history (aOR 2.8, 95% CI 1.4, 5.8), spending enough time (aOR 2.3, 95% CI 1.2, 4.4), and providing easily understandable information (aOR 2.2, 95% CI 1.0, 4.7) were significantly associated with report of following physical activity advice. The relationship between pressure distribution and pulse-jet cleaning parameters was established. The results showed that peak positive pressure on the corresponding sintered plastic filter inner wall increased with the increasing tank pressure. With the increasing jet distance, peak pressure first increased, then decreased, and with the increasing nozzle diameter, the optimum jet distance decreased gradually. At the optimum jet distance, the peak pressure with a nozzle diameter of 6 mm was the best, which was confirmed through the jet flow photographed by schlieren. The mathematical model obtained by curve fitting was s = (d - a)/2 tan 0.37275 d 2 - 1.33545 d + 35.95005 2 . These results indicated that there was a direct relationship between the peak pressure and the parameters of pulse-jet cleaning in a sintered plastic filter. We find that while all FP indicators have some disadvantages, the official SDG indicator has some properties that severely limit its usefulness for global monitoring purposes. We included a total of 9 studies (3 cohort, 4 cross-sectional, and 2 case-control) involving 30123 participants and 3237 cases. The pooled RR of GDM comparing highest versus lowest category of dietary cholesterol intake was 1.49 (95% CI, 1.18-1.88). The dose-response relationship showed that the risk of GDM increased by 32% (RR = 1.32; 95% CI, 1.20-1.45) for every increase of 100 mg per day in dietary cholesterol intake.

In addition, we tested the probiotic effect of a newly selected Apilactobacillus kunkeei V18 in an in situ experiment in bee colonies. We found antibacterial activity against P. larvae in four isolates. Biofilm formation activity of varying intensity was noted in six of the seven isolates in the presence of different sugars. The strongest biofilm formation (OD570 ≥ 1) was noted in A. kunkeei V18 in the presence of fructose; moreover, this isolate strongly inhibited the growth of P. larvae under laboratory conditions. Inhibition of P. larvae and Melissococcus plutonius by A. kunkeei V18 in situ was confirmed in a pilot study.
    Anxiety is an extremely prevalent condition, and yet, it has received notably less attention than depression and other mental health conditions from a research, clinical, and public health perspective. The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated growing concerns about the burden of anxiety due to the confluence of physical health risks, economic stressors, social isolation, and general disruption of daily activities.

    This study examines differences in anxiety outcomes by care modality (coaching, teletherapy and telepsychiatry, and combined care) within an on-demand mental health system. We also explore the association between levels of engagement within each care modality and odds of improvement in symptoms of anxiety.

    We conducted a retrospective observational study of individuals who accessed ******, an on-demand mental health system. Data were collected from 1611 ****** members between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2019. We used logistic regression to assess the association between care modality ay, there is a promising observation that those engaged in combined care (teletherapy and text-based coaching) had the greatest odds of anxiety improvement. Future directions include more detailed classifications of utilization patterns and an exploration of explanations and solutions for lower-utilization members.

In our study we tested inhibitory activity against Paenibacillus larvae and the biofilm formation activity by various lactic acid bacteria isolated from honey bee guts or fresh pollen samples in the presence of different sugars added to the cultivation media. In addition, we tested the probiotic effect of a newly selected Apilactobacillus kunkeei V18 in an in situ experiment in bee colonies. We found antibacterial activity against P. larvae in four isolates. Biofilm formation activity of varying intensity was noted in six of the seven isolates in the presence of different sugars. The strongest biofilm formation (OD570 ≥ 1) was noted in A. kunkeei V18 in the presence of fructose; moreover, this isolate strongly inhibited the growth of P. larvae under laboratory conditions. We also explore the association between levels of engagement within each care modality and odds of improvement in symptoms of anxiety. We conducted a retrospective observational study of individuals who accessed Ginger, an on-demand mental health system. Data were collected from 1611 Ginger members between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2019. We used logistic regression to assess the association between care modality ay, there is a promising observation that those engaged in combined care (teletherapy and text-based coaching) had the greatest odds of anxiety improvement. Future directions include more detailed classifications of utilization patterns and an exploration of explanations and solutions for lower-utilization members. The most common side-effect is gastrointestinal (GI) distress which may be associated with changes in the microbiome. Dysbiosis of the microbiome can have numerous health-related consequences. To understand the effect of PrEP on dysbiosis, we evaluated 27 individuals; 14 were taking PrEP for an average of 171 weeks. Sequencing of 16S rRNA was performed using self-collected rectal swabs. Mixed beta diversity testing demonstrated significant differences between PrEP and non-PrEP users with Bray-Curtis and unweighted UniFrac analyses (p = 0.05 and 0.049, respectively). At the genus level, there was a significant reduction in Finegoldia, along with a significant increase in Catenibacterium and Prevotella in PrEP users. Prevotella has been associated with inflammatory pathways, insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease, while Catenibacterium has been associated with morbid obesity and metabolic syndrome. Overall, these results suggest that PrEP may be associated with some degree of microbiome dysbiosis, which may contribute to GI symptoms. Among 79 transgender persons, identified anal cancer risk factors included smoking, STI history, anoreceptive intercourse, and inconsistent condom use. Nearly half (43%) reported little to no knowledge of anal cancer. The vast majority (82%) had little to no perceived risk of developing anal cancer. Twenty-eight percent had heard of anal cytology, and few (17%) had undergone it. The Phomopsis/Diaporthe strains were isolated amongst a total of 62 endophytic fungi from the aerial parts of the herbaceous perennial American plant Peperomia obtusifolia (Piperaceae) along with Fusarium, Septoria, Colletotrichum, Alternaria and Roussoella genera among others. Phomopsis/Diaporthe isolates were identified as Diaporthe infecunda (12 isolates), Diaporthe sackstoni (1 isolate), Diaporthe cf. brasiliensis (4 isolates) and Phomopsis cf. tuberivora (7 isolates). All the Phomopsis/Diaporthe strains antagonized A. rabiei strain AR2 with a mean of inhibition (% I) of 86.59 ± 1.49% in dual cultures. The metabolic characterization of the Phomopsis/Diaporthe strains showed groups in three clusters which were in agreement with the taxonomic identification. Bioautographic evaluation of organic extracts showed that those of D. cf. brasiliensis and D. infecunda were better as inhibitors. Strain Po 45 was one of the most active (cluster 1, 96.87% I), and its ethyl acetate extract inhibited A. rabiei growth in a bioautographic assay until at least 10 μg/mm applied showing a specific chromatographic band as the responsible of the A. rabiei inhibition.
    Binocular visual impairment related to unilateral idiopathic epiretinal membranes (uiERM) and its association with vision-related quality of life (VR-QoL) has not yet been investigated. This study aimed to explore binocular visual parameters (distance binocular best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), aniseikonia, stereopsis) and VR-QoL in patients with uiERM.

    We carried out a prospective single-centre cohort study.     In subjects presenting uiERM, aniseikonia is frequently found and stereopsis is constantly impaired. We advocate quantitative testing of metamorphopsia and aniseikonia in addition to BCVA for the assessment of global visual function. Further investigations are needed to evaluate the effect of vitrectomy on these parameters and VR-QoL.

    With therapeutic advances, central nervous system (CNS) involvement in leukemia has become more common. Leukemic optic disc infiltration, often a clinical diagnosis, can present as an isolated finding in primary or relapsed CNS disease and therefore requires early recognition. Not previously well appreciated, we report here signs of intraocular inflammation accompanying leukemic optic disc infiltration, suggesting infectious or non-infectious uveitis as an alternative diagnosis. We describe a novel optical coherence tomography (OCT) sign favoring leukemic infiltration.

    Retrospective consecutive case series of all leukemic patients with disc edema (5 patients, 6 eyes) presenting to the University of Michigan's Ocular Oncology Clinic between October 2019 and March 2020.

    We report five leukemic patients (6 eyes) who were evaluated for disc edema and vitritis and eventually diagnosed with leukemic papillopathy. All five patients initially had a bland lumbar puncture (LP), and allfour patients who underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) had no retrobulbar nerve involvement.

On the basis of the polyphasic taxonomic study, strain CJ210T represents a novel species in the genus Myroides, for which name Myrodies fluvii sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CJ210T (=KACC 19954T=JCM 33306T).A novel Gram-negative bacterium, designated G2-14T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil sample collected from apple orchard in Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Republic of Korea. Strain G2-14T was a strictly aerobic, non-spore-forming, non-motile and short-rod-shaped bacterium. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain G2-14T was closely related to Mucilaginibacter myungsuensis HMD1056T (96.9 %) and Mucilaginibacter boryungensis BDR-9T (96.8 %). The major cellular fatty acids (>10 %) of strain G2-14T were summed feature 3 (C161 ω6с and/or C161 ω7с) and iso-C150. The predominant quinone and the major polar lipid were menaquinone-7 and phosphatidylethanolamine, respectively. Strain G2-14T produced acetic acid. The DNA G+C content based on whole genome sequences was 46.4 mol%. On the basis of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic data, strain G2-14T represents a novel species in the genus Mucilaginibacter, for which the name Mucilaginibacter mali sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is G2-14T (=KCTC 72533T=NBRC 114179T).Wheat blue dwarf (WBD) is one of the most economically damaging cereal crop diseases in northwestern PR China. The agent associated with the WBD disease is a phytoplasma affiliated with the aster yellows (AY) group, subgroup C (16SrI-C). Since phytoplasma strains within the AY group are ecologically and genetically diverse, it has been conceived that the AY phytoplasma group may consist of more than one species. This communication presents evidence to demonstrate that, while each of the two 16 rRNA genes of the WBD phytoplasma shares >97.5 % sequence similarity with that of the 'Candidatus Phytoplasma asteris' reference strain, the WBD phytoplasma clearly represents an ecologically separated lineage the WBD phytoplasma not only has its unique transmitting vector (Psammotettix striatus) but also elicits a distinctive symptom in its predominant plant host (wheat). In addition, the WBD phytoplasma possesses molecular characteristics that further manifest its significant divergence from 'Ca. P. asteris'. Such molecular characteristics include lineage-specific antigenic membrane proteins and a lower than 95 % genome-wide average nucleotide identity score with 'Ca. P. asteris'. These ecological, molecular and genomic evidences justify the recognition of the WBD phytoplasma as a novel taxon, 'Candidatus Phytoplasma tritici'.Three Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacteria, BA1T, Q614T and PB68.1T, isolated from the digestive system of Heterorhabditis entomopathogenic nematodes, were biochemically and molecularly characterized to clarify their taxonomic affiliations. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of these strains suggest that they belong to the Gammaproteobacteria, to the family Morganellacea, and to the genus Photorhabdus. Deeper analyses using whole genome-based phylogenetic reconstructions suggest that BA1T is closely related to Photorhabdus akhursti, that Q614T is closely related to Photorhabdus heterorhabditis, and that PB68.1T is closely related to Photorhabdus australis. In silico genomic comparisons confirm these observations BA1T and P. akhursti 15138T share 68.8 % digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH), Q614T and P. heterorhabditis SF41T share 75.4 % dDDH, and PB68.1T and P. australis DSM 17609T share 76.6  % dDDH. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the prevalence rate of common NIASs and contributing occupational factors among manufacturing workers in Brunei Darussalam. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain G2-14T was closely related to Mucilaginibacter myungsuensis HMD1056T (96.9 %) and Mucilaginibacter boryungensis BDR-9T (96.8 %). The major cellular fatty acids (>10 %) of strain G2-14T were summed feature 3 (C161 ω6с and/or C161 ω7с) and iso-C150. The predominant quinone and the major polar lipid were menaquinone-7 and phosphatidylethanolamine, respectively. Strain G2-14T produced acetic acid. The DNA G+C content based on whole genome sequences was 46.4 mol%. On the basis of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic data, strain G2-14T represents a novel species in the genus Mucilaginibacter, for which the name Mucilaginibacter mali sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is G2-14T (=KCTC 72533T=NBRC 114179T).Wheat blue dwarf (WBD) is one of the most economically damaging cereal crop diseases in northwestern PR China. The agent associated with the WBD disease is a phytoplasma affiliated with the aster yellows (AY) group, subgroup C (16SrI-C). Since phytoplasma strains within the AY group are ecologically and genetically diverse, it has been conceived that the AY phytoplasma group may consist of more than one species. This communication presents evidence to demonstrate that, while each of the two 16 rRNA genes of the WBD phytoplasma shares >97.5 % sequence similarity with that of the 'Candidatus Phytoplasma asteris' reference strain, the WBD phytoplasma clearly represents an ecologically separated lineage the WBD phytoplasma not only has its unique transmitting vector (Psammotettix striatus) but also elicits a distinctive symptom in its predominant plant host (wheat). In addition, the WBD phytoplasma possesses molecular characteristics that further manifest its significant divergence from 'Ca. P. asteris'. Such molecular characteristics include lineage-specific antigenic membrane proteins and a lower than 95 % genome-wide average nucleotide identity score with 'Ca. P. asteris'. These ecological, molecular and genomic evidences justify the recognition of the WBD phytoplasma as a novel taxon, 'Candidatus Phytoplasma tritici'.Three Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacteria, BA1T, Q614T and PB68.1T, isolated from the digestive system of Heterorhabditis entomopathogenic nematodes, were biochemically and molecularly characterized to clarify their taxonomic affiliations.     Pyrotinib, a new oral irreversible pan-ErbB tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), has been approved in China for the treatment of HER2-positive advanced or metastatic breast cancer. This study aimed to conduct a population pharmacokinetics (PK) analysis of pyrotinib and to evaluate the impact of patient characteristics on pyrotinib's PK.

    A total of 1152 samples, provided by 59 adult female patients from two phase I clinical trials, were analyzed by nonlinear mixed-effects modeling. Monte Carlo simulation was conducted to assess impact of covariates on the exposure to pyrotinib.

    The PK of pyrotinib was adequately described by a one-compartment model with first-order absorption and elimination. Patient's age and total protein levels could affect pyrotinib's apparent volume of distribution, and concomitant use of montmorillonite could decrease the bioavailability of pyrotinib by 50.3%. No PK interactions were observed between capecitabine and pyrotinib.

  • Viruses cause many life threatening human diseases. Recently, COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the health care systems worldwide. As a disease preventive approach and to bring relief to the severity of the symptoms, a infusion termed as Bhabha Anti-Viral Infusion-23 ('BhAVI-23') was conceptualized and formulated which comprised of 23 selected spices and herbals.

    The present study was conducted to assess the invitro antiviral potential of the formulation, BhaAVI-23.

    The in-vitro anti-viral potential of BhAVI-23 was assessed through inhibition of HIV1 reverse transcriptase (RT) as well as through a novel P1 (virulent) bacteriphage based screening assay system. Anti-diabetic potential was assessed by non-enzymatic glycosylation of haemoglobin and the bioactive volatile components were detected through headspace gas chromatography followed by molecular docking analysis.

Colonic bowel wall thickness was a median of 4.6 mm (range 4.2-5.6 mm) in those responding to steroids compared with 6.2 mm (6-7.9 mm) in those requiring salvage therapy (p = 0.009). Any colonic segment with a bowel wall thickness of >6 mm was associated with the need for salvage therapy (p = 0.033). Its prevalence was significantly higher than that of the marginal strong echo (89/172, 51.7%, p less then 0.001), posterior acoustic enhancement (103/172, 59.9%, p = 0.031) and chameleon sign (100/172, 58.1%, p = 0.013).     To report radiographic characteristics of anterior and posterior ankle arthritis, which demonstrates the eccentric narrowing of either aspect of the tibiotalar joint in the sagittal plane.

    Radiographic analysis of 19 ankles with anterior arthritis and 16 ankles with posterior arthritis was performed, which were defined as having both (1) eccentric narrowing of the anterior or posterior tibiotalar joint space on lateral radiographs and (2) talar tilt angle less than 4 degrees on anteroposterior radiographs. Measured radiographic parameters were Talar tilt angle, medial distal tibial angle (MDTA), talar center migration (TCM), anterior distal tibial angle (ADTA), tibial axis-to-talus ratio (TT ratio), talo-first metatarsal (Meary) angle, hindfoot alignment angle (HAA), hindfoot moment arm, and mechanical axis deviation (MAD). An Intergroup comparison analysis, including a normal control group, was also performed.

    The TT ratio was significantly different between each group, indicating a distinct talus posimedial translation of the talus and anterior opening of the tibial plafond. Posterior ankle arthritis was associated with the lower medial longitudinal arch and hindfoot valgus, indicating an association with flatfoot deformity. Both anterior and posterior ankle arthritis were associated with varus lower limb alignment.

    A 39-year-old woman presented with primary sterility and deep infiltrating endometriosis, and an EZIAN score of A2,B2,C3. A nodule was located 9 cm from the anus and was 38 × 9 mm in size. This included an intramural fibroma of 6 cm and a left-sided ovarian endometriotic cyst of 6 cm. Her pain on the visual analogue scale were dysmenorea 6, dyspareunia 5-6, dyschezie 7, dysuria 0, and acyclic pain5.

    The primary objective was to replace the linear-stapler resection with two simple, strictly circularly placed sutures, to cut the intestinal wall between them, and to form the end-to-end anastomosis with a circular stapler. The one-stapler technique consisted of the following steps intestinal wall cleansing as in the limited segmental resection; placement of one strictly circular suture just below the DIE nodule, without fixation; placement of the first circular suture just below the DIE nodule, ideally with at least three full-thickness "bites" of the intestinal wall; placement of the second circular stitch approximately 2 cm below the first one in a similar manner (three full-thickness "bites"); interruption of the intestinal wall with a harmonic scalpel; end-to-end intestinal anastomosis with a circular stapler; and airtightness test of the anastomosis.

Radiographic analysis of 19 ankles with anterior arthritis and 16 ankles with posterior arthritis was performed, which were defined as having both (1) eccentric narrowing of the anterior or posterior tibiotalar joint space on lateral radiographs and (2) talar tilt angle less than 4 degrees on anteroposterior radiographs.
