This was examined by TTO application to banana plants challenged by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc, Race 1) causing Fusarium wilt and to tomato plants challenged by Xanthomonas campestris. Parameters to assess resistance induction included disease development, enzymatic activity, defense genes expression correlated to systemic acquired resistance (SAR) and induced systemic resistance (ISR) and priming effect. Spraying TTO on field-grown banana plants infected with Foc and greenhouse tomato plants infected with Xanthomonas campestris led to resistance induction in both hosts. Several marker genes of salicylic acid, jasmonic acid and ethylene pathways were significantly up-regulated in parallel with symptoms reduction. For tomato plants, we have also recorded a priming effect following TTO treatment.   • Paenibacillus polymyxa is a Gram-positive, non-pathogenic soil bacterium that has been extensively investigated for the production of R-,R-2,3-butanediol in exceptionally high enantiomeric purity. Rational metabolic engineering efforts to increase productivity and product titers were restricted due to limited genetic accessibility of the organism up to now. By use of CRISPR-Cas9 mediated genome editing, six metabolic mutant variants were generated and compared in batch fermentations for the first time. Downstream processing was facilitated by completely eliminating exopolysaccharide formation through the combined knockout of the sacB gene and the clu1 region, encoding for the underlying enzymatic machinery of levan and paenan synthesis. Spore formation was inhibited by deletion of spoIIE, thereby disrupting the sporulation cascade of P. polymyxa. Optimization of the carbon flux towards 2,3-butanediol was achieved by deletion of the lactate dehydrogenase ldh1 and decoupling of the butanediol dehydrogenase from its natural regulation via constitutive episomal expression. The improved strain showed 45 % increased productivity, reaching a final concentration of 43.8 g L-1 butanediol. A yield of 0.43 g g-1 glucose was achieved, accounting for 86 % of the theoretical maximum.
    The aim of this study was to identify dosimetric parameters that predict late small bowel (SB) toxicity after neoadjuvant long course chemoradiation (CRT) for rectal cancer.

    Four hundred eighty-six consecutive patients with locally advanced rectal cancers (clinical T3/T4 or N1/N2) who received CRT followed by surgery and had dosimetric data available for analysis were included in this study. The dose-volume relationship between small bowel irradiation and late small bowel toxicity was evaluated and a mathematical model to predict for late SB toxicity was derived.

    Among the 486 patients with a median follow-up of 60 months from completion of radiation, 36 (7.4%) patients experienced ≥ grade 2 and 21 (4.3%) developed ≥ grade 3 late SB toxicity. A statistically significant association between the development of grade ≥3 late small bowel toxicity and the volume of small bowel irradiated was found at each dose level from 5 to 40 Gy (P < .001 for all dose volumes) in 5 Gy intervals. In the present study, we performed a 35 K SNP genotyping assay on association panel of 135 diverse wheat genotypes evaluated for vegetative stage tolerance in hydroponics. The assembly is 1.09 Gb, with a scaffold N50 of 12.1 Mb and 17,475 annotated protein coding genes. We compare the proteome of W. v. nigrigula to several other passerines, and produce annotations for two additional antbird genomes in order to identify genes under lineage-specific positive selection and gene families with evidence for significant expansions in antbirds.   • The OWLS is a screening tool for prescription opioid use disorder designed for use in primary care. This study aimed to confirm the optimal wording, scoring methods, and cutoff for the OWLS.

    Cross-sectional analysis of an online sample.

    Participants comprised those with chronic noncancer pain who regularly used prescription opioids.

    Eligible participants self-completed an online version of the OWLS prescription opioid use disorder screening tool and the Composite International Diagnostic Interview Substance Abuse module. Receiver operating characteristics were calculated for three scoring methods for the OWLS, and these were compared with DSM-5 classification of any use disorder and moderate to severe opioid use disorder.

    Among the sample (N = 324), utilizing scoring method (i) (i.e., positive endorsement ≥ response option "a little bit") and a cutoff of 3 increased the percentage of correctly classified participants, with concurrent increases in specificity and decreases in false discovery rate, and false positive rate.

    OWLS utilizing scoring method (i) with a cutoff of 3 was shown to be the optimal version and scoring method of this tool. This represents a time-efficient, simple scoring method, allowing for quick and accurate screening for opioid use disorder to occur.

    Although adjuvant analgesics are used to treat opioid-refractory cancer pain, there is insufficient evidence to support this practice and limited data to guide the choice depending on cancer pain pathophysiology, dose titration and starting dose. This survey aimed to clarify the current use of adjuvant analgesics for treating opioid-refractory cancer pain.

    In this cross-sectional study, we sent an online survey questionnaire to 208 certified palliative care specialists. Primary outcomes were (i) effective pathophysiological mechanism of cancer pain and (ii) initiating doses and time period to the first response to each adjuvant analgesic therapy.

    In total, 87 (42%) palliative care specialists responded. Of all patients with cancer pain, 40% of patients (median) with refractory cancer pain were prescribed adjuvant analgesics. Additionally, 94.3, 93.1 and 86.2% of palliative care specialists found dexamethasone/betamethasone effective for neuropathic pain caused by tumor-related spinal cord compression, pregabalin effective for malignant painful radiculopathy and dexamethasone/betamethasone effective for brain tumor or leptomeningeal metastases-related headache, respectively. The median starting dose of pregabalin, dexamethasone/betamethasone, lidocaine and ketamine were 75, 4, 200, and 50mg/day, respectively, and the median time to the first response of those medications were 5, 3, 2 and 3days, respectively.

    The OWLS is a screening tool for prescription opioid use disorder designed for use in primary care. This study aimed to confirm the optimal wording, scoring methods, and cutoff for the OWLS. Cross-sectional analysis of an online sample. Participants comprised those with chronic noncancer pain who regularly used prescription opioids. Eligible participants self-completed an online version of the OWLS prescription opioid use disorder screening tool and the Composite International Diagnostic Interview Substance Abuse module. Receiver operating characteristics were calculated for three scoring methods for the OWLS, and these were compared with DSM-5 classification of any use disorder and moderate to severe opioid use disorder. Among the sample (N = 324), utilizing scoring method (i) (i.e., positive endorsement ≥ response option "a little bit") and a cutoff of 3 increased the percentage of correctly classified participants, with concurrent increases in specificity and decreases in false discovery rate, and false positive rate. OWLS utilizing scoring method (i) with a cutoff of 3 was shown to be the optimal version and scoring method of this tool. This represents a time-efficient, simple scoring method, allowing for quick and accurate screening for opioid use disorder to occur. Although adjuvant analgesics are used to treat opioid-refractory cancer pain, there is insufficient evidence to support this practice and limited data to guide the choice depending on cancer pain pathophysiology, dose titration and starting dose. This survey aimed to clarify the current use of adjuvant analgesics for treating opioid-refractory cancer pain. In this cross-sectional study, we sent an online survey questionnaire to 208 certified palliative care specialists. Primary outcomes were (i) effective pathophysiological mechanism of cancer pain and (ii) initiating doses and time period to the first response to each adjuvant analgesic therapy. In total, 87 (42%) palliative care specialists responded. Of all patients with cancer pain, 40% of patients (median) with refractory cancer pain were prescribed adjuvant analgesics. Additionally, 94.3, 93.1 and 86.2% of palliative care specialists found dexamethasone/betamethasone effective for neuropathic pain caused by tumor-related spinal cord compression, pregabalin effective for malignant painful radiculopathy and dexamethasone/betamethasone effective for brain tumor or leptomeningeal metastases-related headache, respectively. The median starting dose of pregabalin, dexamethasone/betamethasone, lidocaine and ketamine were 75, 4, 200, and 50mg/day, respectively, and the median time to the first response of those medications were 5, 3, 2 and 3days, respectively.   • A total of 482 veal cutlet, 555 ground veal, and 540 ground beef samples were purchased from retail establishments in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States over a noncontiguous 2-year period between 2014 and 2017. Samples (325 g each) were individually enriched and screened via real-time PCR for all seven regulated serogroups of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC). Presumptive STEC-positive samples were subjected to serogroup-specific immunomagnetic separation and plated onto selective media. Up to five isolates typical for STEC from each sample were analyzed via multiplex PCR for both the virulence genes (i.e., eae, stx1 and/or stx2, and ehxA) and serogroup-specific gene(s) for the seven regulated STEC serogroups. The recovery rates of non-O157 STEC from veal cutlets (3.94%, 19 of 482 samples) and ground veal (7.03%, 39 of 555 samples) were significantly higher (P < 0.05) than that from ground beef (0.93%, 5 of 540 samples). In contrast, only a single isolate of STEC O157H7 was recovered; this isolate originated from 1 (0.18%) of 555 samples of ground veal. Recovery rates for STEC were not associated with state, season, packaging type, or store type (P > 0.05) but were associated with brand and fat content (P < 0.05). Pulsed-field subtyping of the 270 viable and confirmed STEC isolates from the 64 total samples testing positive revealed 78 pulsotypes (50 to 80% similarity) belonging to 39 pulsogroups, with ≥90% similarity among pulsotypes within pulsogroups. Multiple isolates from 43 (67.7%) of 64 samples testing positive had an indistinguishable pulsotype. STEC serotypes O26 and O103 were the most prevalent serogroups in beef and veal, respectively. These findings support related findings from regulatory sampling studies over the past decade and confirm that recovery rates for the regulated STEC serogroups are higher for raw veal than for raw beef samples, as was observed in the present study of meat purchased at food retailers in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States.
    The treatment of patients with progressive metastatic follicular cell-derived and medullary thyroid cancers that do not respond to standard therapeutic modalities presents a therapeutic challenge. As a deeper understanding of the molecular drivers for these tumors has occurred and more potent and specific compounds are developed, the number of Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved treatments for thyroid cancer has expanded. In addition, with the advent of disease-agnostic target-directed FDA approvals an ever-broadening number of therapeutic options are available for clinicians and patients. However, to date, complete remissions are rare, the average durations of response are relatively modest, and toxicities are common. These factors accentuate the need for further understanding of the mechanisms of resistance that result in treatment failures, the development of biomarkers that can improve patient selection for treatment earlier in the disease process, and the continued need for new therapeutic strategies. In this article, recent approvals relevant to thyroid cancer will be discussed along with selected new potential avenues that might be exploited for future therapies.
    The International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN) is a global network of national food safety authorities from 190 countries, managed jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization, which facilitates the rapid exchange of information during food safety incidents. Until now, INFOSAN has not been characterized or examined as a functional community of practice, and its value, as understood from the perspective of its members, has not been determined in a systematic or rigorous way. The purpose of this study was to explore and describe the experiences and opinions of INFOSAN members to better understand the role of the network in improving food safety and mitigating the burden of foodborne illness globally. There were four main research questions (i) How is the INFOSAN Community Website being used to support network activities? (ii) What are the barriers to active participation in INFOSAN? (iii) Do INFOSAN members believe that participation in the network prevents foodborne illness and saves lives? and (iv) Does participation in INFOSAN create value for members, and if so, through what mechanisms does this occur? To answer these questions, an online questionnaire was developed and adapted from English into French and Spanish before being disseminated to INFOSAN members. Responses were received from 239 INFOSAN members in 137 countries over a 10-week period between August and October 2019. This study represents the first to explore and describe the experiences of INFOSAN members with respect to their participation in network activities to improve global food safety and prevent foodborne diseases and to describe the characteristics of INFOSAN as a community of practice. The results suggest that INFOSAN is a valued tool, used globally to reduce the burden of foodborne illness and save lives. The INFOSAN Secretariat could use the results to prioritize future activities to further strengthen the network and support participation of members.
    Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is characterized by neonatal hypotonia, developmental delay and hyperphagia/obesity. This disorder is caused by the absence of paternally expressed gene products from chromosome 15q11-q13. We previously demonstrated that knocking out ZNF274, a Kruppel-associated box-A-domain zinc finger protein capable of recruiting epigenetic machinery to deposit the H3K9me3 repressive histone modification, can activate expression from the normally silent maternal allele of SNORD116 in neurons derived from PWS induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). However, ZNF274 has many other targets in the genome in addition to SNORD116. Depleting ZNF274 will surely affect the expression of other important genes and disrupt other pathways.   • Interpretation of fibre evidence at activity level requires extensive knowledge of all the possible transfer mechanisms that may explain the presence of fibres on a recipient surface of interest. Herein, we investigate a transfer method that has been largely understudied in previous literature contactless transfer between garments through airborne travel. Volunteers were asked to wear UV-luminescent garments composed of different textile materials and situate themselves in a semi-enclosed space (elevator) for a pre-determined period of time with other participants, who wore non-luminescent recipient garments. The latter were then inspected for fibres using UV-luminescent photographic techniques. Results showed that contactless transfer between garments is possible. Indeed, a number of fibres were observed after most of the experiments. As many as 66 and 38 fibres were observed in the experiments involving cotton and polyester donor garments, compared to 2 and 1 fibres in those involving acrylic and wool donor garments, respectively. In this regard, the type of donor garment was found to be a significant factor. Multifactorial ANOVA supported these observations (p less then 0.001) and further indicated a statistically significant influence of elevator door opening/closing (p less then 0.001), people entering/exiting (p=0.078) and the recipient garment (p=0.030). Therefore, contactless transfer of fibres between garments can occur and can do so in (ostensibly) high numbers. This should be taken into consideration when interpreting fibre evidence at activity level and may have a major implication for the assignment of evidential values in some specific cases.
    Malnutrition is a devastating condition which disproportionally affects the elderly population. Malnutrition furthers the pre-existing elevated risk for osteoarthritis in this population, thus exacerbating joint damage in patients and furthering the need for total joint arthroplasty (TJA). A marker for malnutrition is a low body mass index (BMI). The purpose of this study is to investigate whether low BMI status increased the risk for 2-year mortality or reoperation, 90-day readmission, or extended length of stay (LOS) following TJA.

    A retrospective study was performed using the Partners Arthroplasty Registry which contains data from 2016 to 2019. The registry was queried for primary total hip and primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients that had a minimum of 2-years follow-up data. Demographic, surgical, and clinical outcome variables were obtained from these patients. The association between underweight BMI and objective outcomes of reoperation, 90-day readmission, mortality, and LOS was evaluated by univariate analysis followed by multiple logistic and linear regression analyses.

    The final cohort used for analysis consisted of 4802 TJA cases. After accounting for potential confounders, underweight BMI was found to be independently associated with increased risk of mortality within 2 years following TJA (odds ratio 8.77) (95% confidence interval 2.14-32.0) and increased LOS of 0.44 days (95% confidence interval 0.02-0.86).

    Our findings demonstrate that TJA patients with an underweight BMI experience an 8 times increased risk of 2-year mortality and an increased LOS of 0.44 days. Orthopedic surgeons should consider nutritional consultation and medical optimization in these high-risk patients prior to surgery.

    Many U.S. health systems are grappling with how to safely resume elective surgery amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We used online crowdsourcing to explore public perceptions and concerns toward resuming elective surgery during the pandemic, and to determine factors associated with the preferred timing of surgery after health systems reopen.

    A 21-question survey was completed by 722 members of the public using Amazon Mechanical Turk. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to determine factors associated with the timing of preferred surgery after health systems reopen.

    Most (61%) participants were concerned with contracting COVID-19 during the surgical process, primarily during check-in and in waiting room areas, as well as through excessive interactions with staff. Overall, 57% would choose to have their surgery at a hospital over an outpatient surgery center. About 1 in 4 (27%) would feel comfortable undergoing elective surgery in the first month of health systems reopening. After multivarigestion and unnecessary face-to-face interactions may prove most effective in reducing public anxiety and concerns over the safety of resuming elective care.
    Concerns exist that minorities who utilize more resources in an episode-of-care following total hip (THA) and knee arthroplasty (TKA) may face difficulties with access to quality arthroplasty care in bundled payment programs. The purpose of this study is to determine if African American patients undergoing TKA or THA have higher episode-of-care costs compared to Caucasian patients.

The purpose of this study is to determine if the reimbursement is justified by comparing the difference in facility costs between inpatient and outpatient TKAs.

    We identified 4496 consecutive primary TKA procedures performed at 2 hospitals from 2015 to 2019. Itemized facility costs were calculated using a time-driven activity-based costing algorithm. Outpatient procedures were defined as those with a length of stay of less than 2 midnights (3851, 86%). Patient demographics, comorbidities, and itemized costs were compared between groups. A multivariate regression analysis was performed to determine the independent effect of outpatient status on true facility costs.

    Interpretation of fibre evidence at activity level requires extensive knowledge of all the possible transfer mechanisms that may explain the presence of fibres on a recipient surface of interest. Herein, we investigate a transfer method that has been largely understudied in previous literature contactless transfer between garments through airborne travel. Volunteers were asked to wear UV-luminescent garments composed of different textile materials and situate themselves in a semi-enclosed space (elevator) for a pre-determined period of time with other participants, who wore non-luminescent recipient garments. The latter were then inspected for fibres using UV-luminescent photographic techniques. Results showed that contactless transfer between garments is possible. Indeed, a number of fibres were observed after most of the experiments. As many as 66 and 38 fibres were observed in the experiments involving cotton and polyester donor garments, compared to 2 and 1 fibres in those involving acrylic and wool donor garments, respectively. In this regard, the type of donor garment was found to be a significant factor. Multifactorial ANOVA supported these observations (p less then 0.001) and further indicated a statistically significant influence of elevator door opening/closing (p less then 0.001), people entering/exiting (p=0.078) and the recipient garment (p=0.030). Therefore, contactless transfer of fibres between garments can occur and can do so in (ostensibly) high numbers. This should be taken into consideration when interpreting fibre evidence at activity level and may have a major implication for the assignment of evidential values in some specific cases. Malnutrition is a devastating condition which disproportionally affects the elderly population. Malnutrition furthers the pre-existing elevated risk for osteoarthritis in this population, thus exacerbating joint damage in patients and furthering the need for total joint arthroplasty (TJA). A marker for malnutrition is a low body mass index (BMI). The purpose of this study is to investigate whether low BMI status increased the risk for 2-year mortality or reoperation, 90-day readmission, or extended length of stay (LOS) following TJA. A retrospective study was performed using the Partners Arthroplasty Registry which contains data from 2016 to 2019. The registry was queried for primary total hip and primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients that had a minimum of 2-years follow-up data. Demographic, surgical, and clinical outcome variables were obtained from these patients. The association between underweight BMI and objective outcomes of reoperation, 90-day readmission, mortality, and LOS was evaluated by univariate analysis followed by multiple logistic and linear regression analyses. The final cohort used for analysis consisted of 4802 TJA cases. After accounting for potential confounders, underweight BMI was found to be independently associated with increased risk of mortality within 2 years following TJA (odds ratio 8.77) (95% confidence interval 2.14-32.0) and increased LOS of 0.44 days (95% confidence interval 0.02-0.86). Our findings demonstrate that TJA patients with an underweight BMI experience an 8 times increased risk of 2-year mortality and an increased LOS of 0.44 days. Many U.S. health systems are grappling with how to safely resume elective surgery amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We used online crowdsourcing to explore public perceptions and concerns toward resuming elective surgery during the pandemic, and to determine factors associated with the preferred timing of surgery after health systems reopen. A 21-question survey was completed by 722 members of the public using Amazon Mechanical Turk. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to determine factors associated with the timing of preferred surgery after health systems reopen. Most (61%) participants were concerned with contracting COVID-19 during the surgical process, primarily during check-in and in waiting room areas, as well as through excessive interactions with staff. Overall, 57% would choose to have their surgery at a hospital over an outpatient surgery center. About 1 in 4 (27%) would feel comfortable undergoing elective surgery in the first month of health systems reopening. Our results indicate that besides the most-discussed specific surface area (or nanostructure), the enhanced electronic conductivity, the controllable interlamellar spacing distance, and the ion-transporting route as intrinsic origin also greatly affect their pseudocapacitive enhancement. First, the ultralong single-crystal wire structure can apparently enhance the electrons transport; second, the unique [001] facet orientation along the wire direction enlarges the interlamellar spacing distance and shortens the Li+ inserting route, thus facilitating the redox reactions by providing fast channels for charge carrier intercalation. Variability in the addition of fibular periosteum augmentation and whether an orthopaedic surgeon or podiatrist performed the procedure did not account for these findings. With one third of patients reporting very-poor-to-fair results after these reconstructions, and many patients lost to follow-up, we recommend surgeons counsel their servicemember patients accordingly before surgery. Specifically, that there is a one third chance they will need permanent restrictions or have to leave the military postoperatively; analogously, we believe that our findings may apply to similarly active patients outside the military, and we question whether these procedures may not be serving such patients as well as previously believed.

Quantum-chemical calculations indicate the importance of stereochemistry on the optical activity, pointing towards further design improvements in such types of complexes.

    Biopsies of brainstem lesions are performed to establish a diagnosis in the setting of an atypical clinical or radiological presentation, or to facilitate molecular studies. A better understanding of the safety and diagnostic yield of brainstem biopsies would help guide appropriate patient selection.

    All patients who underwent biopsy of a brainstem lesion during the period from January 2011 to June 2019 were reviewed. Demographic, radiological, surgical, and outcome data were collected.

    A total of 58 patients underwent 65 brainstem biopsies during the study period. Overall, the median age was 7.6 years (IQR 3.9-14.2 years). Twenty-two of the 65 biopsies (34%) were open, 42 (65%) were stereotactic, and 1 was endoscopic. In 3 cases (5%), a ventriculoperitoneal shunt was placed, and in 9 cases (14%), a posterior fossa decompression was performed during the same operative session as the biopsy. An intraoperative MRI (iMRI) was performed in 28 cases (43%). In 3 of these cases (11%), the biopsy was off target and additional samples were obtained during the same procedure. New neurological deficits were noted in 5 cases (8%), including sensory deficits, ophthalmoparesis/nystagmus, facial weakness, and hearing loss; these deficits persisted in 2 cases and were transient in 3 cases. A pseudomeningocele occurred in 1 patient; no patients developed a CSF leak or infection. In 8 cases (13%) an additional procedure was needed to obtain a diagnosis.

The search was performed in April 2019 in nine databases. Only randomized/quasi-randomized controlled trials with participants with idiopathic PD were included. The meta-analysis of the 11 articles included, with 13 results, showed that the 211 participants with PD, who belonged to the group performing dance, had a standardized mean difference of postural control 0.82 [0.52, 1.12] greater than the 182 participants who were in a control situation. The statistically significant results of this meta-analysis indicate that dance can improve postural control in people with PD in a short period of time and therefore contribute to the prevention of falls.
    To analyze the effects of 2 combined training methods on the cardiometabolic risk factors in adolescents.

    A total of 76 adolescents (16.1 [1.1]y, n = 44 female) were randomized into groups of moderate-intensity continuous training combined with resistance training (**** + RT), high-intensity interval training combined with resistance training (HIIT + RT), or control. The training sessions were performed twice weekly for 12weeks. The outcomes evaluated included body fat percentage, waist circumference, fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin, total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, glycated hemoglobin, insulin resistance index, blood pressure, peak oxygen consumption (VO2peak), and cardiometabolic risk Z score.

    The intervention groups presented a significant reduction in the cardiometabolic risk Z score after 12weeks of the combined exercise program. In relation to the cardiometabolic risk Z score between groups, the HIIT + RT group presented a significant intervention effect when compared with the control group (Cohen d = 0.23; P < .05). The statistically significant results of this meta-analysis indicate that dance can improve postural control in people with PD in a short period of time and therefore contribute to the prevention of falls. To analyze the effects of 2 combined training methods on the cardiometabolic risk factors in adolescents. A total of 76 adolescents (16.1 [1.1]y, n = 44 female) were randomized into groups of moderate-intensity continuous training combined with resistance training (MICT + RT), high-intensity interval training combined with resistance training (HIIT + RT), or control. The training sessions were performed twice weekly for 12weeks. In recent years, some biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), including interleukin 10 (IL-10), microRNAs, CXC chemokine ligand 13 (CXCL13), have been reported to be associated with PCNSL. The S-Detect system, EU-TIRADS, and mixed MODELs 1-5 for the diagnosis of thyroid cancer showed a sensitivity of 89.4%, 90.9%, 84.9%, 95.5%, 93.9%, 78.9% and 93.9%; a specificity of 80.6%, 61.2%, 88.1%, 53.7%, 73.1%, 89.6% and 80.6%; a positive predictive value of 81.9%, 69.8%, 87.5%, 67%, 77.5%, 88.1% and 82.7%; a negative predictive value of 88.5%, 87.2%, 85.5%, 92.3%, 92.5%, 81.1% and 93.1%; and an accuracy of 85%, 75.9%, 86.5%, 74.4%, 83.5%, 84.2%, and 87.2%, respectively. Comparison showed superiority of the similar MODELs 1 and 5 over other mixed models as well as EU-TIRADS and S-Detect used alone (p-value less then 0.05). S-Detect software is characterized with high sensitivity and good specificity, whereas EU-TIRADS has high sensitivity, but rather low specificity. The best diagnostic performance in malignant thyroid nodule (TN) risk stratification was obtained for the combined model of S-Detect ("possibly malignant" nodule) and simultaneously obtaining 4 or 5 points (MODEL 1) or exactly 5 points (MODEL 5) on the EU-TIRADS scale.

DHM allowed also to identify an important pathway for substances to penetrate into the skin through canyons surrounding the clusters. Overall, 22 FAAs were determined in substrates and mushrooms, including all the essential amino acids, the neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and ornithine. On a dry weight (dw) basis, total FAAs ranged from 17.37 mg/g in P. nebrodensis to 130.12 mg/g in P. ostreatus samples, with alanine, leucine, glutamine, valine and serine predominating. Similar distribution patterns were followed by the monosodium glutamate (MSG)-like, sweet and bitter FAAs. Significant differences in FAAs level were observed among the species examined and among the cultivation substrates used. To assess the risk of bias and the quality of evidence, the Cochrane Collaboration tool and the GRADE method were used, respectively. Twenty-two studies were included in the systematic review and 12 studies in the meta-analysis, making a total of 14 intervention groups with a sample of 827 workers. Cognitive behavioral therapy was the most widely used intervention. According to the estimated difference between the means, a moderate effect for the reduction of insomnia symptoms after the intervention (MD -2.08, CI 95% [-2.68, -1.47]) and a non-significant degree of heterogeneity were obtained (p = 0.64; I2 = 0%). The quality of the evidence and the risk of bias were moderate. The results suggest that interventions on insomnia in the workplace are effective for improving workers' health, and that improvements in the quality of sleep and a decrease in the symptoms of insomnia are produced, thanks to an increase in weekly sleeping hours and a reduction in latency at sleep onset.   • The subjects felt hotter and more uncomfortable, and they found indoor air quality was more difficult to accept. The subjects are acclimatized to hot environments and more tolerant to heat. Therefore, the results are applicable to the acclimated people living in hot-humid climate.
    The policy enforcing visiting restriction during the COVID-19 pandemic may cause feelings of social isolation among residents in long-term care facilities. This study aimed to explore family members' concerns for their relatives during the lockdown period, assess their level of acceptance of the visiting restriction policy and determine the associated factors.

    From the 156 family members interviewed, demographic data, satisfaction with overall care quality, worry and concerns for their relatives, acceptance of the visiting restriction and arrangement for the residents if cluster infections occur in the facility were recorded.

    Among the members interviewed, 83 (53.2%) were men; mean age of members was 56.3 ± 9.8; most were offspring of residents in the facility (n = 121, 77.6%), most visited the residents at least once a week (n = 113, 72.4%) before the lockdown. The most common concerns of the family members for their relatives were psychological stress (38.5%), followed by nursing care (26.9%) and daily members, and this might mitigate the tension between the family members and staff during a major crisis. Campylobacter jejuni (n=55) and Campylobacter coli (n=31) were identified by multiplex-PCR in meat, faeces and human clinical samples while Campylobacter fetus (n=3) was exclusively detected in the latter. Fingerprinting by flaA-RFLP and PFGE revealed 68 different genotypes from the 89 isolates with a Biodiversity Simpson's index of 0·98. The 86·5% of the isolates were resistant to ciprofloxacin, 85·4% to tetracycline and 49·4% to erythromycin; only three genotypes were susceptible to the three antimicrobial drugs. Multidrug resistance was detected in the 40·7% of the isolates.

Importantly, the underexplored alkynediyl sulfide functionality incorporates a rigidifying structural element and opens new opportunities for diversification of macrocyclic frameworks through S oxidation, halide addition and azide-alkyne cycloaddition chemistries to integrate sulfones, halides or valuable fluorophores (7 examples, 37→92 % yields).Co-infection of apple trees with several viruses/viroids is common and decreases fruit yield and quality. Accurate and rapid detection of these viral pathogens helps to reduce losses and prevent virus spread. Current molecular detection assays used for apple viruses require specialized and expensive equipment.
