To discuss the current referral pathway with the aim of improving general dental practitioner (GDP) understanding of indications for surgical endodontics via the referral process.Methodology A three-year retrospective review of all surgical endodontic referrals made to Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead was completed. This was inclusive of all referrals made via the National Health Service (NHS) Vantage Rego e-referral system and GDP referral letters. The quality of referrals was analysed as indicated or contraindicated in accordance with the Royal College of Surgeons guidelines for surgical endodontics and periradicular surgery.Results Out of the 34 referrals included in data analysis, 50% contained one or more contraindication for surgical intervention. The most commonly recorded contraindications to treatment were poor-quality root canal treatment, periodontal disease compromising the long-term success of treatment and a poor coronal seal deeming the tooth unrestorable post-surgical intervention.Conclusions A more efficient surgical endodontic referral system will aid resource allocation within the NHS. These results are a first step to aiding necessary modification of the primary care referral pathway to achieve a more effective service for patients, with improved acceptance rate of referrals and better surgical outcomes.Objectives The oral cavity is a potential reservoir for respiratory pathogens which can predispose patients to bacterial super-infection. This database was created by oral and maxillofacial surgery trainees in 2017 and records over 400 variables in 1,002 individual patients admitted to hospital with severe odontogenic infection.Results Records were available for 1,002 patients with cervicofacial infection (456 females and 546 males). There were significant differences between recorded gender in those presenting with airway compromise (male 7% vs female 2%, p = 0.001), severe inflammatory response syndrome (male 60% vs female 39%, p = 0.007) and requirement for awake fibre-optic intubation on admission (male 4% vs female 1%, p = 0.014).Discussion These results suggest that male patients access healthcare later in their disease than female patients, and with more severe systemic compromise. This may be due to prevalent cultural and behavioural norms. As equality of access is the responsibility of the administrator, we discuss methods which might improve timely presentation in males with cervicofacial infections.To mitigate the adverse effects of elevated temperatures, conventional rigid devices use bulky radiators, heat sinks and fans to dissipate heat from sensitive components. Here, we design fluidic elastomer actuators that autonomically perspire at elevated temperatures. This strategy incurs operational penalties (i.e., decreased actuation efficiency and loss of hydraulic fluid) but provides for thermoregulation in soft systems. In this bioinspired approach, we 3D-print finger-like actuators from smart gels with embedded micropores that autonomically dilate and contract in response to temperature. During high-temperature operation, the internal hydraulic fluid flows through the dilated pores, absorbs heat and vaporizes. Upon cooling, the pores contract to restrict fluid loss and restore operation.

Pregnancy is a rare condition in women with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis, but its incidence has increased in recent years. Despite being a high-risk condition for both mother and fetus, there has been an improvement in care due to the increased number of cases described and the experience gained in dialysis therapy. We report the case of a multiparous 32-years-old women with chronic hypertension and chronic kidney disease with 10 years of evolution and difficult control, with a diagnosis of dichorionic/diamniotic twin pregnancy, 4 months after beginning hemodialysis. Pregnancy was managed by a multidisciplinary team, hemodialysis sessions were clinically and hemodynamically well tolerated, with good blood pressure and analytical control, as well as adequate development of both fetuses. She went into labor at 34 weeks and 6 days, so a caesarean section was performed, with 2 boys born with adequate weight for gestational age.
The aim of this study is to explore the validation of the Resilience Scale in its long and brief versions (25 items and 14 items). This instrument assesses the individual's ability to withstand stressors, thrive and make sense of vital challenges.
The sample included 511 Portuguese physicians. Both versions were validated through the study of internal structure validity, reliability, and convergent validity. The validity of the internal structure was analysed using the principal component analysis technique. Reliability was verified by the internal consistency study. For convergent validity, the correlation coefficients between these versions of the Resilience Scale and other scales validated to measure depression, anxiety, stress, and life satisfaction were calculated.
Both versions of Resilience Scale showed good internal consistency. For each of the versions, one factor was retained in the principal component analysis. Convergent validity was verified by significant positive correlations between Resilience Scale (25 and 14) and a life satisfaction scale and significant negative correlations between Resilience Scale and depression, anxiety, and stress subscales.
The results show the one-dimensional character of both versions of the Resilience Scale and support their usefulness and validity in the physician's class.
This is the first validation study of this scale in a group of physicians. Its results are very satisfactory, and its use in this specific group is recommended.

Although poverty associated with severe mental illness (SMI) has been documented in many studies, little long-term evidence of social drift exists. This study aimed to unravel the poverty transitions among persons with SMI in a fast change community in China.
Two mental health surveys, using the International Classification of Disease (ICD-10), were conducted in the same six townships of Xinjin county, Chengdu, China in 1994 and 2015. A total of 308 persons with SMI identified in 1994 were followed up in 2015. The profiles of poverty transitions were identified and regression modelling methods were applied to determine the predictive factors of poverty transitions.
The poverty rate of persons with SMI increased from 39.9% to 49.4% in 1994 and 2015. A larger proportion of them had fallen into poverty (27.3%) rather than moved out of it (17.8%). Those persons with SMI who had lost work ability, had physical illness and more severe mental disabilities in 1994, as well as those who had experienced negative changes on these factors were more likely to live in persistent poverty or fall into poverty. Higher education level and medical treatment were major protective factors of falling into poverty.
This study shows long-term evidence on the social drift of persons with SMI during the period of rapid social development in China. Further targeted poverty alleviation interventions should be crucial for improving treatment and mental recovery and alleviating poverty related to SMI.

Australia is ranked 71st on the Global Terrorism Index (GTI; 2019), a scoring system of terrorist activities. While it has a relatively low terrorist risk, events globally have wide-ranging repercussions putting first responders and emergency health workers at risk. Counter-Terrorism Medicine (CTM) is rapidly emerging as a sub-specialty needed to address these threats on the front line. This study aims to provide the epidemiological context for the past decade, detailing the unique injury types responders are likely to encounter, and to develop training programs utilizing these data.
The Global Terrorism Database (GTD) was searched for all attacks in Australia from the years 2009-2019. Attacks met inclusion criteria if they fulfilled the following terrorism-related criteria as set by the GTD. Ambiguous events were excluded when there was uncertainty as to whether the incident met all of the criteria for inclusion as a GTD terrorist incident. The grey literature was reviewed, and each event was cross-match were the most commonly chosen methodology, followed by firearms, bladed weapons, and explosive/bombings/dynamite attacks.
In the decade from 2009 to 2019, terrorist attacks on Australian soil have been manageable, small-scale incidents with well-understood modalities. Out of 220 articles retrieved, nine controlled trials were included (follow-up period range, six months to 12 years, 3137 patients, and low risk of bias). The analysis favored the high dose for remnants ablation, odd ratio, 0.73, 95% CI, 0.50-1.07; P-value for the overall effect was 0.10. Primary nerve reconstruction procedures are more effective if performed within six months from the injury. A comprehensive systematic search of the MEDLINE, EMBASE, AMED, PubMed, and Cochrane databases was conducted in line with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Data, including demographic information, time to surgery, the extent of brachial plexus injury, surgical techniques, follow-up duration, and functional outcomes were collected and tabulated. Seven studies were eligible to be included in this review, with a total of 218 patients. The average patient age was 28.39 ± 3 years, with a mean time to surgery of 29.87 ± 18 months. Forty-six (46) patients (21.10%) were treated as delayed presentation and 172 patients (78.89%) had muscle transfer performed as a secondary procedure. The mean time at follow-up was 18.86 ± 13.5 months. Upper trapezius muscle transfer was the most common transferred muscle (100%) either in isolation (n=159, 72.93%) or in combination with lower trapezius transfer (n=59, 27.06%). The mean preoperative and postoperative shoulder abduction were 12.22 ± 10.09 degrees and 58.36 ± 32.33 degrees, respectively (p less then 0.05). Meta-analysis shows a statistically significant difference (CI at 95%, p less then 0.05) favoring postoperative shoulder abduction. IAD remains a huge burden on both the health facility and for the managing healthcare provider. In this report, we present the case of a patient with IAD, which has been managed for the past five years with recurrent visits to the physician with no resolution of signs and symptoms. Despite extensive medical workup over this period, which repeatedly showed normal test results, the patient continued to have anxiety over his ill health and complained of recurrent mild somatic symptoms. After his most recent appointment, he got very upset and booked a flight to his home country to have a second opinion to validate his illness. Physicians are encouraged to build a therapeutic alliance with patients with IAD, rather than ordering expensive or unnecessary diagnostic tests or treatment.Objective The purpose of this study was to compare two different sizes of an endotracheal tube (ETT), with inner diameters (ID) of 6.5 mm and 7.5 mm, for the frequency of postoperative sore throat in patients undergoing elective breast cancer surgery. Methodology This study was a randomized controlled trial conducted in the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center from December 3, 2016, to February 3, 2017. This study included 110 patients, 55 from each group, who were selected from the elective surgery list fulfilling the inclusion criteria. Group A patients were intubated with 6.5-mm ID ETTs and group B patients with 7.5-mm ID ETTs. All patients were carefully extubated in the operating room when fulfilling extubation criteria. Any concerns of sore throat were recorded 24 hours postoperatively. All relevant data were recorded on a pro forma. Out of 220 articles retrieved, nine controlled trials were included (follow-up period range, six months to 12 years, 3137 patients, and low risk of bias). The analysis favored the high dose for remnants ablation, odd ratio, 0.73, 95% CI, 0.50-1.07; P-value for the overall effect was 0.10. However, the results were limited due to the significant heterogeneity observed (56%, P-value 0.03). High-dose RAI was better for DTC remnants ablation. Further studies focusing on intermediate-risk DTC and adjusting for preoperative and postoperative factors are recommended.Brachial plexus injuries usually result in significant upper limb disabilities and shoulder joint instability. Primary nerve reconstruction procedures are more effective if performed within six months from the injury. Secondary procedures, including muscle transfers, are usually indicated for delayed presentation (>6 months) or when the outcomes of primary procedures are unsatisfactory. A comprehensive systematic search of the MEDLINE, EMBASE, AMED, PubMed, and Cochrane databases was conducted in line with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Data, including demographic information, time to surgery, the extent of brachial plexus injury, surgical techniques, follow-up duration, and functional outcomes were collected and tabulated. Meta-analysis was conducted using Review Manager (RevMan) 5.4 software ([Computer program]. Version 5.3. Copenhagen The Nordic Cochrane Centre, The Cochrane Collaboration, 2014). Seven studies were eligible to be included in this review, with a total of 218 patients. The average patient age was 28.39 ± 3 years, with a mean time to surgery of 29.87 ± 18 months. Forty-six (46) patients (21.10%) were treated as delayed presentation and 172 patients (78.89%) had muscle transfer performed as a secondary procedure. The mean time at follow-up was 18.86 ± 13.5 months. Upper trapezius muscle transfer was the most common transferred muscle (100%) either in isolation (n=159, 72.93%) or in combination with lower trapezius transfer (n=59, 27.06%). The mean preoperative and postoperative shoulder abduction were 12.22 ± 10.09 degrees and 58.36 ± 32.33 degrees, respectively (p less then 0.05). Meta-analysis shows a statistically significant difference (CI at 95%, p less then 0.05) favoring postoperative shoulder abduction. Muscle transfers especially upper trapezius transfer could be a satisfactory secondary procedure to restore shoulder abduction and enhance shoulder joint stability.Illness anxiety disorder (IAD) is defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-V) as the preoccupation with having or acquiring a serious illness, in the absence of somatic symptoms (or, if present, symptoms that are only mild in severity). IAD remains a huge burden on both the health facility and for the managing healthcare provider. In this report, we present the case of a patient with IAD, which has been managed for the past five years with recurrent visits to the physician with no resolution of signs and symptoms. Despite extensive medical workup over this period, which repeatedly showed normal test results, the patient continued to have anxiety over his ill health and complained of recurrent mild somatic symptoms. After his most recent appointment, he got very upset and booked a flight to his home country to have a second opinion to validate his illness. This study included 110 patients, 55 from each group, who were selected from the elective surgery list fulfilling the inclusion criteria. Group A patients were intubated with 6.5-mm ID ETTs and group B patients with 7.5-mm ID ETTs. All patients were carefully extubated in the operating room when fulfilling extubation criteria. Part 1 will provide a background of common mental health conditions, common symptoms, underlying complaints, along with helpful resources for multiple audiences. Part 2 will continue with a focus on mental health assessment in the school setting, including the use of screening tools with a review of the most common medications prescribed for youth with anxiety and depression.Objective. Diabetes mellitus (DM) causes structural central nervous system (CNS) impairment, and this situation can be detected by quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) findings before cognitive impairment is clinically observed. The main aim of this study is to uncover the effect of DM on brain function. Since QEEG reflects the CNS functioning, particularly in cognitive aspects, we expected electrophysiological clues to be found for prevention and follow-up in DM-related cognitive decline. Since a majority of the psychiatric population have cognitive dysfunction, we have given particular attention to those people. It was stated that a decrease was observed in the posterior cortical alpha power due to the hippocampal atrophy by several previous studies and we hypothesize that decreased alpha power will be observed also in DM. Methods. This study included 2094 psychiatric patients, 207 of whom were diagnosed with DM and 1887 of whom were not diagnosed with DM, and QEEG recordings were performed. Eyes-closed electroencephalography data were segmented into consecutive 2 s epochs. Fourier analysis was performed by averaging across 2 s epochs without artifacts. The absolute alpha power in the occipital regions (O1 and O2) of patients with and without DM was compared. Results. In the DM group, a decrease in the absolute alpha, alpha 1, and alpha 2 power in O1 and O2 was observed in comparison with the control group. It was determined that the type of psychiatric diagnosis did not affect QEEG findings. Conclusion. The decrease in absolute alpha power observed in patients diagnosed with DM may be related to the CNS impairment in DM. QEEG findings in DM can be useful while monitoring the CNS impairment, diagnosing DM-related dementia, in the follow-up of the cognitive process, constructing the protocols for electrophysiological interventions like neurofeedback and transcranial magnetic stimulation and monitoring the response to treatment.A short form version of the Ethno-Cultural Identity Conflict Scale (ECIS-SF) was developed and validated to address item redundancy in the original scale and to increase its utility in comparative studies and applied settings. In Study 1, the EICS-SF was derived and validated using data from Chinese (n = 232) and Greek (n = 139) New Zealanders. Study 2 confirmed the factor structure, measurement equivalence and discriminant validity of the EICS-SF with Chinese Canadians (n = 199) and British Indians (n = 190). Study 3 provided additional evidence for the test-retest reliability and temporal consistency of the EICS-SF's association with criterion measures in Indian New Zealanders (n = 147). The EICS-SF is psychometrically sound and easy to administer with diverse populations. The fragmentation pathways of GD-based protein adducts were investigated for the first time using electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Three abundant natural loss product ions, [M+2H-54]2+ (loss of two carbon cations), [M+2H-72]2+ (loss of tert-butyl and methyl moieties), and [M+2H-84]2+ (loss of the pinacolyl moieties), were observed in each of the GD-labeled adducts, and the product ions were independent of protein structure and exposure route. A unique mechanism for the formation of product ions involving GD-protein adducts is proposed here. These findings support the development of a simple and precise forensic analysis technique to rapidly verify GD poisoning using these three GD-related product ions.C-peptide is co-secreted with insulin and is not subject to hepatic clearance and thus reflects functional β-cell mass. Patients and families with limited English proficiency (LEP) face barriers to health care service access, experience lower quality care, and suffer worse health outcomes. LEP is an independent driver of health disparities and exacerbates other social determinants of health. Disparities due to language are particularly unjust because LEP is morally irrelevant and a source of unfair, unnecessary disadvantage. Clinicians and health care organizations have duties to intervene, which this article describes.Language and cultural barriers can impede communication between patients and clinicians, exacerbating health inequity. Additional complications can arise when family members, intending to protect their loved ones, ask clinicians to lie or not disclose to patients their diagnoses, prognoses, or intervention options. Clinicians must express respect for patients' and families' cultural, religious, and social norms regarding health care decision making, but they might also be ethically troubled by some decisions' effects on patients' health outcomes. This article suggests strategies for clinicians trying to overcome linguistic and cultural barriers to equitable patient care.This article examines the care of a Spanish-speaking woman with end-stage renal disease who returns repeatedly to the emergency department with complications related to missing hemodialysis. Her life circumstances suggest that she has been making difficult but rational decisions in an untenable situation, which is then readily resolved with the assistance of her care team. The case illustrates the pernicious effect of judgmentalism on patients from poor and marginalized communities, which exacerbates health inequity and illuminates the ethical importance of contextualizing patients' care.
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD) have several similarities and it is difficult to distinguish these disorders in adolescents. We aimed to identify the unique correlates of mentalization abilities that may distinguish these two disorders, and to investigate the mentalization abilities of adolescents with ADHD, BPD and ADHD + BPD in an inpatient sample to determine the effect of co-morbidity on mentalization abilities.
We have explored the relationship between Child Eye Test (CET) scores, Movie for the Assessment of Social Cognition (MASC) subscales, and ADHD and BPD symptoms in adolescent inpatients. In addition, we compared ADHD, BPD and ADHD + BPD groups in terms of their mentalization abilities.
Correct MASC scores were negatively associated with both ADHD and BPD symptoms in girls, and negatively associated with ADHD symptoms in boys. In addition, hypermentalization scores were associated with BPD symptoms in girls, and hypomentalization and no mentalization scores were associated with ADHD symptoms in girls. CET scores were negatively associated with ADHD symptoms in girls, but no relations with BPD were found. Group comparisons revealed no significant difference among groups.
We included only inpatient sample without considering their medication condition, we did not compare the mentalization scores of the patient groups with healthy controls and we used self-report measures for several assessments.

Taking a One Health perspective, we used interviews to explore with 20 women living on low income in Kenya their gendered hygiene practices and daily contact with animals; how and why they access water and sanitation facilities for themselves, their families, and any livestock; and their understandings of (zoonotic) health risks and disease transmission within their local environments. The women described how they worked every day to keep bodies and homes clean by washing bodies, surfaces and clothes. Women's hygiene practices focussed on removing visible dirt partly because of concerns for health but also to support their families' social standing in their community. While they were less aware of any 'invisible' risks to health through contact with animals or other hazards present in their daily living environments, most exercised care to source and manage water for drinking. Contaminated water was recognised as a risk to health suggesting that in this case, women accepted that there were 'invisible risks' to health, even in clear water, and took steps to mitigate them.The Taiwan issue continually haunts WHO. Yet, there are beneficial political gains in its call for inclusion. Taiwan's recent leveraging and amplification of its COVID-19 success story is thus an extension of its health diplomacy. Sinistral portal hypertension results from obstruction or stenosis of the splenic vein and is characterized by normal portal vein pressures and liver function tests. Gastrointestinal bleeding is the most common presentation and indication for treatment. Although sinistral portal hypertension-related chylous ascites is rare, several cases have described successful treatment with portal venous, rather than splenic venous, recanalization. Splenectomy is effective in the treatment of sinistral portal hypertension-related bleeding, although recent studies have evaluated splenic vein stenting and splenic arterial embolization as minimally-invasive treatment alternatives. Splenic vein stenting may be a viable option for other presentations of sinistral portal hypertension.

Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 (CIGS) thin-film solar cells have attracted considerable interest in the field of photovoltaic devices due to their high efficiency and great potential for diverse applications. While CdS has been the most favorable n-type semiconductor because of its excellent lattice-match and electronic band alignment with p-type CIGS, its narrow optical band gap (∼2.4 eV) has limited light absorption in underlying CIGS absorber films. Reducing the thickness of CdS films to increase the short-circuit current-density has been less effective due to the following decrease in the open-circuit voltage. To overcome this trade-off between the main parameters, we controlled the formation mechanism of CdS films in chemical bath deposition and established its direct correlation with the properties of p-n junctions. Interestingly, a heterogeneous CdS film formation was found to have a synergetic effect with its ammonia bath solution, effectively reducing charge carrier loss from the shunt paths and interface recombination of CIGS/CdS junctions. With these electrical benefits, the trade-off was successfully alleviated and our best device achieved a power conversion efficiency of 15.6%, which is one of the state-of-the-art CIGS thin-film solar cells prepared using solution-processing techniques.Composite solid electrolytes (CSEs) hold great promise toward safe lithium metal batteries with high energy density, due to integration of the merits of polymer matrixes and fillers. The hydrogel was used as a flexible wearable sensor to detect human motion signals in real time. IBM's Watson for Oncology (WFO) is an artificial intelligence tool that trains by acquiring data from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and learns from test cases and experts. This study aimed to analyze the adequacy and effectiveness of WFO in determining the treatment method for patients with thyroid carcinoma.
We retrospectively enrolled 50 patients with thyroid cancer who underwent surgery in 2018 and entered their clinical data into WFO. The WFO treatment recommendations were compared with the surgical procedures and recommended treatments performed according to the Korean Thyroid Endocrine Surgery Association guidelines.
The overall concordance rate between WFO-recommended treatments and actual surgical treatments was 48%, and for patients with stage I, II, and III disease, these rates were 52.4, 50, and 16.7%, respectively. A lower concordance rate was observed with respect to treatment for advanced thyroid cancer.

It is hypothesized that increased EFV exposure suppresses weight gain. We investigated the effect of EFV mid-dose plasma concentration (C12) on long-term weight change among virologically suppressed people living with HIV (PLWH).
Participants in a prospective EFV pharmacokinetic study were included if they had been taking EFV-containing combination antiretroviral therapy for more than 240 weeks and had 3 or more weight measurements. The weight changes and time to ≥5% of weight gain over 192 weeks were compared between PLWH with higher and those with lower EFV C12 (using mean population C12 as the cutoff). EFV C12 and CYP2B6 516G>T polymorphism were examined in generalized estimating equations and in a Cox proportional hazards model for associations with weight gain, after adjustments for age, sex, companion antiretroviral agent, CD4 lymphocyte count, and plasma HIV RNA.

Participants were recruited and retained through early, extensive community engagement. Eligible participants were randomized 111 to 10 mg/kg or 30 mg/kg of VRC01 or saline placebo. Visits occurred monthly, with intravenous (IV) infusions every 8 weeks over 2 years, for a total of 10 infusions. Participants were followed for 104 weeks after first infusion.
The median HVTN 704/HPTN 085 participant age was 28 years; 99% were assigned male sex; 90% identified as cisgender men, 5% as TG women and the remaining as other genders. Thirty-two percent were White, 15% Black, and 57% Hispanic/Latinx. Twenty-eight percent had a sexually transmitted infection at enrollment. More than 23,000 infusions were administered with no serious IV administration complications. Overall, retention and adherence to the study schedule exceeded 90%, and the dropout rate was below 10% annually (7.3 per 100 person-years) through week 80, the last visit for the primary end point.

We assessed the impact of health literacy and hepatitis C (HCV) knowledge on HCV treatment willingness among people living with HIV (PLWH) at an academic HIV clinic.
Cross-sectional analysis of PLWH coinfected with HCV who completed health literacy, HIV literacy, and HCV knowledge inventories. We estimated the prevalence of low health literacy, HIV knowledge, and HCV knowledge sampled from 3-comparison groups PLWH not referred for HCV, referred but who "not showed" to the HCV clinic, and referred and attended the HCV clinic. We used mixed-model linear and logistic regression to ascertain predictors of low health literacy, HIV knowledge, HCV knowledge, and predictors of willingness to start HCV treatment.
We enrolled 151 PLWH; 17% were female, 38% non-White, and 60% without a high-school education. Approximately, 68% were men who have sex with men, of whom 62% used intravenous drugs. The prevalence of low health, HIV knowledge, and HCV knowledge was 10%, 32%, and 29%, respectively. Predictors of low health literacy were being Hispanic, cirrhotic, and not completing high-school education.

The expression of HprS is under tight transcriptional control of the TetR21 via direct binding to the promoter region of hprS. The R116C mutation in TetR21 significantly reduced its DNA binding affinity. Moreover, natural phenazine antibiotics (phenazine-1-carboxylic acid and pyocyanin) and a HP analog (HP-22) are ligands for the TetR21, regulating its repressor activity. A faster gas departure enabled continuous participation of the electrocatalyst surface in hydrogen evolution, leading to a stable electrochemical behavior of the electrocatalyst and a decrease in the overpotential at a given current density. Owing to the excellent photothermal effect of MXene nanosheets, increased interlayer spacing favoring intercalation/deintercalation of water molecules and its caused reversible volume change, and the asymmetric microstructure, this film exhibits light-driven deformation with a macroscopic and fast response. Based on it, a soft bimorph actuator with ultrahigh response to solar energy is fabricated, showing natural sunlight-driven actuation with ultralarge amplitude and fast response (346° in 1 s). By utilizing continuous bending deformation of the bimorph actuator in response to the change of natural sunlight intensity and biomimetic design of an inchworm to rectify the repeated bending deformation, an inchwormlike soft robot is constructed, achieving directional self-locomotion without any artificial energy and control. Moreover, soft arms for lifting objects driven by natural sunlight and wearable smart ornaments that are combined with clothing and produce three-dimensional deformation under natural sunlight are also developed. A total of 232 (49.9%) were isolated from foods, 102 (21.9%) from environmental, 87 (18.7%) from clinical, 27 (5.8%) from PIF, one from water (0.2%) and 16 (3.5%) from unknown sources. A total of five species were represented Cronobacter sakazakii (374, 80.4%), Cronobacter malonaticus (41, 8.8%), Cronobacter dublinensis (29, 6.2%), Cronobacter turicensis (16, 3.5%) and Cronobacter muytjensii (5, 1.1%). The strains with complete MLST profile (n = 345) were assigned to 98 STs, a ratio of 3.5 strain by ST found and the calculated Simpson`s index was 0.93. The strains showed a high diversity and after eBURST analysis, 30 STs (n = 189) formed 12 single and/or double-locus variant clonal complexes (CC). A total of 38 STs (38.7%) were associated with clinical cases of infection, including well established C. sakazakii CC 1, 4, 8 and 83; C. malonaticus ST60, 307, 394 and 440; and C. sakazakii ST 12 and 494.
Renal denervation (RDN) is effective at lowering blood pressure. However, it is unknown if ablative procedures elicit sympathetic denervation of the kidneys in humans. The aim of this investigation was to assess sympathetic innervation of the renal cortex following perivascular chemical RDN, which may be particularly effective at ablating perivascular efferent and afferent nerves.
Seven hypertensive patients (4F3M; 50-65 years) completed PET-CT sympathetic neuroimaging of the renal cortex using 11C-Methylreboxetine ( 11C-MRB, norepinephrine transporter ligand) and 6-[ 18F]-fluorodopamine ( 18F-FDA; substrate for the cell membrane norepinephrine transporter) before and 8-weeks after chemical RDN (Peregrine System Infusion Catheter, Ablative Solutions; n=4; 2F2M) or control renal angiography (n=3; 2F1M). Patients completed physiological phenotyping including 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure, hemodynamics, muscle sympathetic nerve activity, and 24-hour urine collection.

In our study, we applied Oxford Nanopore and Illumina technologies to assemble complete genomes of two widely used members of a distinct laboratory yeast lineage, the Peterhof Genetic Collection (PGC), and investigate the structural features of these genomes including transposable element content, copy number alterations, and structural rearrangements. We identified numerous notable structural differences between genomes of PGC strains and the reference S288C strain. We discovered a substantial enrichment of mid-length insertions and deletions within repetitive coding sequences, such as in the SCH9 gene or the NUP100 gene, with possible impact of these variants on protein amyloidogenicity. High contiguity of the final assemblies allowed us to trace **** the history of reciprocal unbalanced translocations between chromosomes I, VIII, IX, XI, and XVI of the PGC strains. We show that formation of hybrid alleles of the FLO genes during such chromosomal rearrangements is likely responsible for the lack of invasive growth of yeast strains.
