Mitochondria isolated from the hippocampus of synGLT-1 KO **** exhibited a lower oxygen consumption rate in the presence of oligomycin A, indicative of a decreased proton leak across the mitochondrial membrane, whereas the ATP production rate was unchanged. Electron microscopy revealed reduced mitochondrial inter-cristae distance within excitatory synaptic terminals in the hippocampus and striatum of the synGLT-1 KO. Finally, dilution of 13C-labelling originating from [U-13C]glucose, caused by metabolism of unlabelled glutamate, was reduced in hippocampal synGLT-1 KO synaptosomes, suggesting that neuronal GLT-1 provides glutamate for synaptic tricarboxylic acid cycle metabolism. Stimulation parameters and fertility preservation outcomes were compared among the following receptor-specific profile groups (1) estrogen receptor positive (ER+) versus estrogen receptor negative (ER-), (2) triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) versus estrogen and progesterone receptor positive (ER+/PR+), and (3) TNBC versus non-TNBC. Primary outcome was the total number of mature oocytes. Secondary outcomes included the number of retrieved oocytes, the peak estradiol level, and the number of follicles > 14 mm on the final oocyte maturation trigger day. RESULTS A total of 155 cycles were included in the final analysis. These were divided into the exposure groups of ER+ (n = 97), ER- (n = 58), ER+/PR+ (n = 85), TNBC (n = 57), and non-TNBC (n = 98). Cycle outcomes revealed similar number of retrieved oocytes and follicles > 14 mm on the trigger day. Women with TNBC had significantly lower number of mature oocytes compared with those with ER + PR+ (7 (5-11) versus 9 (7-15); p = 0.02) and non-TNBC (7 (5-11) versus 9 (7-16); p = 0.01) status. METHODS Primary TKA patients (n = 125) were randomized into the following four groups group A to receive placebo; group B to receive a single dose of 20 mg kg-1 IV-TXA and 20 mg of intravenous dexamethasone (IV-DXM); group C to receive six doses of IV-TXA (total dosage > 6 g); and group D to receive six doses of IV-TXA combined with three doses of IV-DXM (total dosage = 40 mg). The primary outcomes were C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin (IL)-6 levels and the secondary outcomes were complement C3 and C4 and T-cell subset levels, which were measured preoperatively and at 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, and 2 weeks postoperatively. Ring finger protein 180 (RNF180) is an important member of the E3 ubiquitin ligase family. As a tumor suppressor gene, RNF180 is significantly associated with the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer (GC) and can inhibit the proliferation, invasion, and migration of GC cells. Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) are considered one of the most common oncogenes in human cancers with a key role in GC progression. In this study, we explored the molecular signaling pathways by which RNF180 could potentially regulate STAT3 through transcriptomics and proteomics experiments. Here, we found RNF180 overexpression could suppress STAT3 phosphorylation in GC cells. Ubiquitin label-free experiments showed that the ubiquitination level of Ras homolog gene family member C (RhoC) is significantly increased in GC cells transfected with an RNF180 expression vector (RNF180-GFP vector) compared with cells transfected with an empty vector (vehicle vector). We subsequently demonstrated that RNF180 could directly combine with RhoC and promote the ubiquitination and degradation of RhoC protein in GC cells. The phosphorylation level of STAT3 significantly decreased in GC cells after RhoC knockdown using small hairpin RNA (shRNA). Together, these results reveal RNF180 could inhibit GC progression by reducing the phosphorylation of STAT3 via the ubiquitination and degradation of RhoC protein in GC cells. Treatment with different tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) revealed that, in both FGFR1 mutation and Pten deletion-mediated resistance, sustained Akt activation in resistant cells leads to compromised Puma activation, resulting in suppression of TKI-induced apoptosis. This suppression of Puma is achieved as a result of sequestration of inactivated p-Foxo3a in the cytoplasm. CRISPR/Cas9 mediated knockout of Puma in leukemic cells led to an increased drug resistance in the knockout cells demonstrating a direct role in TKI resistance. Since Puma promotes cell death by targeting Bcl2, TKI-resistant cells showed high Bcl2 levels and targeting Bcl2 with Venetoclax (ABT199) led to increased apoptosis in these cells. In vivo treatment of **** xenografted with resistant cells using ABT199 suppressed leukemogenesis and led to prolonged survival. Here, we investigate the origins of the excess positive charges incurred on water droplets that are dispensed from capillaries made of polypropylene, perfluorodecyltrichlorosilane-coated glass, and polytetrafluoroethylene. Results demonstrate that the magnitude and sign of electrical charges vary depending on the hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity of the capillary; the presence/absence of a water reservoir inside the capillary; the chemical and physical properties of aqueous solutions such as pH, ionic strength, dielectric constant and dissolved CO2 content; and environmental conditions such as relative humidity. Based on these results, we deduce that common hydrophobic materials possess surface-bound negative charge. Thus, when these surfaces are submerged in water, hydrated cations form an electrical double layer. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the primary role of hydrophobicity is to facilitate water-substrate separation without leaving a significant amount of liquid behind. These results advance the fundamental understanding of water-hydrophobe interfaces and should translate into superior materials and technologies for energy transduction, electrowetting, and separation processes, among others.

In vitro, IL11 activated ERK signaling, but inhibited STAT3 activity, and caused VSMC phenotypic switching to a similar extent as TGFβ1 or angiotensin II (ANGII) stimulation. Genetic or therapeutic inhibition of IL11 signaling reduced TGFβ1- or ANGII-induced VSMC phenotypic switching, placing IL11 activity downstream of these factors. Aortas of **** with Myh11-driven IL11 expression were remodeled and had reduced contractile but increased matrix and inflammatory genes expression. In two models of arterial pressure loading, IL11 was upregulated in the aorta and neutralizing IL11 antibodies reduced remodeling along with matrix and pro-inflammatory gene expression.

Total hip replacement (THR) is a surgical procedure indicated for patients affected by severe hip osteoarthritis. Although this technique has proved to be effective in relieving pain and restoring function, gait limitations may persist following this procedure. In total, 440 papers were retrieved after removal of duplicates, and with further screening, 11 papers were included in the systematic review and 6 papers were considered appropriate for meta-analysis. Analysis of the data showed evidence of a modest improvement in functional outcome at mid-term follow-up with use of imageless computer navigation assistance compared with conventional instrumented total knee replacement with a total score point estimate of 3.36 confidence interval (CI) (- 0.583, 7.298), objective score point estimate of 1.45 CI (0.11, 2.799), and functional score point estimate of 2.4, CI (- 1.174, 5.977). The predominant risk of bias was from random allocation and attrition. There is evidence of a modest improvement in functional outcome with the use of imageless computer navigation assistance compared with conventional instrumented total knee replacement at mid-term follow-up.
There has been an exponential increase in knee arthroplasty over the past 20 years. This has led to a quest for improvement in outcomes and patient satisfaction. While the last decade of last century proved to be the decade for Computer-Assisted Surgery (CAS) or Computer Navigation wherein the technology demonstrated a clear benefit in terms of improving mechanical axis alignment and component positioning, this decade is likely to belong to Robotics. Robotics adds an independent dimension to the benefits that CAS offers. The article deals with the generation of robots, technical steps in robotics, advantages and downsides of robotics and way forward in the field of knee arthroplasty.
The review article was designed and edited by six different authors reviewing 32 relevant pubmed-based articles related to robotics in arthroplasty and orthopaedics. The concept, design and the definition of the intellectual content were based on the internationally published literature and insightful articles. The review is of young surgeons to these computers and robotics, as they grow in with confidence with technology from residency days to offer better precision in future.Anti-coronavirusdisease-2019 (COVID-19; anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)) antibodies against nucleoprotein (NP) were purified from pig sera. Following the separation of the antibody fraction using a protein-A column, the final yield of the purified antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 NPs was estimated to be 0.26 ± 0.05 % (absolute amount of 143.4 ± 25.2 ng, n=5) from 1 mL of pig sera. The binding activities of the isolated antibodies were confirmed using immunoassay and immunostaining. Based on the specific binding activity to NPs, a quantitative assay was performed using a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor. From the doseresponse curve, the binding constant (Kd) was calculated to be 185 pM and the limit of detection was estimated to be 1.02 pM. The SPR biosensor with the isolated antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 NPs was applied for the detection of SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV, and CoV strain 229E in culture fluid.

To systematically evaluate the prevalence of diabetes among COVID-19 patients in China and its impact on clinical outcomes, including ICU admission, progression to severe cases, or death.
We searched studies published in PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE from December 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020 to identify relevant observational study that investigated the prevalence of diabetes among COVID-19 patients or its impact on clinical outcomes. We used a random-effects or fixed-effects model to estimate the pooled prevalence of diabetes and risk ratio (RR) and its 95% confidence interval (CI) of diabetes on outcomes. Funnel plots were used to evaluate the publication bias and the heterogeneity was evaluated by

nd greater extension ROM deficits at 3 and 6months following ACLR using all-soft tissue QT autografts. Female sex, higher BMI, and loss of extension ROM were independent predictors of poorer quadriceps strength at 6months. There were no early graft failures, and laxity remained within normal ranges for both males and females. Surgeons and rehabilitation clinicians should be aware of the increased risk of postoperative loss of extension ROM in females and its implications on quadriceps strength recovery.

III.The aims of this study were to (i) evaluate the bone alterations following maxillary molar extraction and (ii) identify the factors associated with bone alterations using a tomographic analysis. Cone Beam Computer Tomographies (CBCTs) of 17 subjects with 25 maxillary molars were analyzed, before and, in average, 12 months following extraction. Fifty CBCTs were segmented as 3D models that were used as reference for analysis. Cross-sectional planes were established to measure the dimensional changes in the vertical, horizontal aspects, and the area of the alveolar bone. Associations between root divergence, initial bone location related to the maxillary sinus, and the thickness of buccal and palatal bone at baseline was assessed using mixed-effect models. Overall, the average reduction in vertical bone height was 35.23% (2.61 ± 1.76 mm). The mean reduction of area of alveolar process and horizontal bone width were 18.89% (56.08 ± 44.23 mm2) and 65.10% (8.33 ± 4.51 mm), respectively. There was a marginal significant association between horizontal bone changes and the thickness of palatal bone (p = 0.05). The results of the present study indicated that following maxillary molar extraction, significant dimensional changes occur in both the vertical and horizontal directions. The vertical changes were mainly attributed to remodeling on the coronal aspect of the alveolar ridge and sinus pneumatization was rare.The aim of this study was to evaluate the shaping characteristics of Protaper Universal (PTU; Dentsply Tulsa Dental Specialties, Johnson City, TN), Hero Shaper (HS; MicroMega, Besacon, France) and Hyflex CM (HCM; Coltene-Whaledent, Allstetten, Switzerland) nickel-titanium systems with various apical sizes and tapers in second mesiobuccal (MB2) canal instrumentation using micro-computed tomographic imaging. A total of 27 maxillary first molars with independent patent MB2 canals were selected and randomly assigned to three groups according to the 3-dimensional morphologic aspects obtained from preoperative micro-computed tomographic scans. Canals were first negotiated with a size 8 K-file and finally prepared to F1, F2, and F3 with PTU and to sizes 20.04 taper, 25.04 taper, and 30.04 taper with HS and HCM. Postoperative scans were performed after each instrumentation with the same parameters used in the initial scan. The canal volume, canal transportation, untouched canal surface and wall thickness were measured and calculated using Mimics 10.01 software (Image Works, Materialise, Belgium). Statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance post hoc LSD tests. PTU removed more dentin than HS and HCM in all sections when instrumented to the same apical size (P less then 0.05). HS and HCM presented a lower mean value of canal transportation than PTU in all measured sizes and sections. PTU presented a lower mean value of distal wall thickness than HS and HCM at the level of 1 and 2 mm below the furcation region in all measured sizes. This study explores two sites in Bombali, Sierra Leone, where human populations have had close contact with microchiropteran bats via household infestations and fruit bats by hunting practices. Through interviews and focus groups, we identify the knowledge, beliefs, perceptions, and behaviors that may potentially protect or expose individuals to zoonotic spillover through direct and indirect contact with bats. III.The aims of this study were to (i) evaluate the bone alterations following maxillary molar extraction and (ii) identify the factors associated with bone alterations using a tomographic analysis. Cone Beam Computer Tomographies (CBCTs) of 17 subjects with 25 maxillary molars were analyzed, before and, in average, 12 months following extraction. Fifty CBCTs were segmented as 3D models that were used as reference for analysis. Cross-sectional planes were established to measure the dimensional changes in the vertical, horizontal aspects, and the area of the alveolar bone. Associations between root divergence, initial bone location related to the maxillary sinus, and the thickness of buccal and palatal bone at baseline was assessed using mixed-effect models. Overall, the average reduction in vertical bone height was 35.23% (2.61 ± 1.76 mm). The mean reduction of area of alveolar process and horizontal bone width were 18.89% (56.08 ± 44.23 mm2) and 65.10% (8.33 ± 4.51 mm), respectively. There was a marginal significant association between horizontal bone changes and the thickness of palatal bone (p = 0.05). The results of the present study indicated that following maxillary molar extraction, significant dimensional changes occur in both the vertical and horizontal directions. A total of 27 maxillary first molars with independent patent MB2 canals were selected and randomly assigned to three groups according to the 3-dimensional morphologic aspects obtained from preoperative micro-computed tomographic scans. Canals were first negotiated with a size 8 K-file and finally prepared to F1, F2, and F3 with PTU and to sizes 20.04 taper, 25.04 taper, and 30.04 taper with HS and HCM. Postoperative scans were performed after each instrumentation with the same parameters used in the initial scan. The canal volume, canal transportation, untouched canal surface and wall thickness were measured and calculated using Mimics 10.01 software (Image Works, Materialise, Belgium). Statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance post hoc LSD tests. PTU removed more dentin than HS and HCM in all sections when instrumented to the same apical size (P less then 0.05). HS and HCM presented a lower mean value of canal transportation than PTU in all measured sizes and sections. Biomolecules like proteins, peptides and nucleic acids widely emerge in pharmaceutical applications, either as synthetic active pharmaceutical ingredients, or from natural products as in traditional Chinese medicine. Liquid-phase chromatographic methods (LC) are widely employed for the analysis and/or purification of such molecules. On another hand, to answer the ever-increasing requests from scientists involved in biomolecules projects, other chromatographic methods emerge as useful complements to LC. In particular, there is a growing interest for chromatography with a mobile phase comprising pressurized carbon dioxide, which can be named either (i) supercritical (or subcritical) fluid chromatography (SFC) when CO2 is the major constituent of the mobile phase, or (ii) enhanced fluidity liquid chromatography (EFLC) when hydro-organic or purely organic solvents are the major constituents of the mobile phase. Despite the low polarity of CO2, supposedly inadequate to solubilize such biomolecules, SFC and EFLC were both employed in many occasions for this purpose. This paper specifically reviews the literature related to the SFC/EFLC analysis of free amino acids, peptides, proteins, nucleobases, nucleosides and nucleotides. The analytical conditions employed for specific molecular families are presented, with a focus on the nature of the stationary phase and the mobile phase composition. We also discuss the potential benefits of combining SFC/EFLC to LC in a single gradient elution, a method sometimes designated as unified chromatography (UC). Finally, detection issues are presented, and more particularly hyphenation to mass spectrometry.Capillary electrophoresis has been investigated to evaluate the performances of new transdermal formulations containing antiemetics. After optimization of the background electrolyte (sodium phosphate buffer (pH 2.5; 60 mM) containing 12% of ethanol (v/v)), domperidone, diphenhydramine, haloperidol, metoclopramide and promethazine were base-line resolved in 10 min. This method was found convenient for quality control of extemporaneous ready-to-use transdermal formulations with recoveries ranging from 91.2-107.8%. However, using hydrodynamic injection, limits of quantitation in the 0.3-2.6 μg.mL-1 range, were not low enough to evaluate the permeation rate of antimetics through epidermis. Field amplified sample injection was used to improve both sensitivity and quantitation thresholds. Several parameters (nature and concentration of the protonation agent, composition of the injected solvent, applied voltage and duration of the injection) have been optimized using a multivariate approach. In the optimized conditions, signal-to-noise ratios were improved by a 600- to 2000-fold factor, regarding the antiemetic. However, the presence of salts in the simulated body fluid solution, used as receptor medium to perform permeation kinetic study, was improper to allow the stacking effect. Therefore, a liquid-liquid extraction has been developed and applied on simulated body fluid solution. Finally, this new method has been shown strongly useful to evaluate the permeation kinetic of metoclopramide through pig epidermis.Antigen-presenting cells participate and are implicated in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis. We evaluated peripheral blood from relapsing-remitting patients treated with IFN-β in remission and relapse phases and from healthy subjects. In remission, we observed a decrease of ****pDC ratio and a return to normal values in relapse. In both phases the frequency of non-classical monocytes decreases. Due to the complex pathogenesis of MS, drugs to treat MS often show partial effectiveness. Earlier experiments have demonstrated that both atorvastatin and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) may ameliorate experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), which is known as a classical model of MS, via different protective mechanisms. Since combination therapy can exhibit more beneficial effects than monotherapy, we observed the protective effects of combined treatment of atorvastatin and NAD+ in EAE ****. Our results showed that the combined treatment of these two drugs at half of their optimal dosages had synergistic effect to alleviate the severity of EAE in **** than treatment with each alone. The combined treatment of EAE **** with atorvastatin plus NAD+ relieved the clinical signs and histologic changes, increased the proportion of Treg cells, attenuated IL-17 production, reduced proinflammatory cytokine secretion of Th17 cells, and increased cytokine secretion of Treg cells. Torque teno virus (TTV) is a widespread anellovirus that establishes persistent infections in humans and represents the most abundant component of the human virome. TTV encodes microRNAs (miRNA) which are found both in viremic and not viremic subjects being potentially ideal tools for the virus to evade the immune system response and to maintain chronic infection in the host.
To investigate TTV-DNA loads and TTV-miRNAs expression in cerebrospinal fluids (CSF) from subjects under analysis for the assessment of neurological diseases.
Detection of TTV-DNA and TTV-miRNAs (e. g. miRNA t1a, t3b, and tth8) were carried out from CSF samples of 93 subjects with neurological diseases by using universal real-time PCR, real-time RT-PCR, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) analyses.
TTV-DNA was detected in 11 of 93 (12 %) CSFs with a mean TTV load of 155 copies/mL. Conversely, 29 CSF samples (31 %) were positive for at least one TTV-miRNA, while 15 (16 %) CSFs contained all the TTV-miRNAs examined. Overall, TTV-miRNA tth8 was detected in 62 % of samples, followed by TTV miRNA t3b (56 %), and t1a (29 %).

Although machine learning methods were widely used in computationally identifying PAS, the need for tremendous amounts of annotation data hinder applications of existing methods in species without experimental data on PAS. Therefore, cross-species PAS identification, which enables the possibility to predict PAS from untrained species, naturally becomes a promising direction. In our works, we propose a novel deep learning method named Poly(A)-DG for cross-species PAS identification. Poly(A)-DG consists of a Convolution Neural Network-Multilayer Perceptron (CNN-MLP) network and a domain generalization technique. It learns PAS patterns from the training species and identifies PAS in target species without re-training. To test our method, we use four species and build cross-species training sets with two of them and evaluate the performance of the remaining ones. We sought to identify seasonal variation in physical activity that different physical activity measurement tools can capture in children with congenital heart disease.
Data were collected as part of a prospective cohort study at ** Children's Hospital, Vancouver, Canada. Daily step counts of children aged 9-16 years with moderate-to-severe CHD were assessed continuously for 1-year via a commercial activity tracker (Fitbit Charge 2™). Physical activity levels were also assessed conventionally at one time-point via accelerometers (ActiGraph) and physical activity questionnaires.
156 children (mean age 12.7±2.4 years; 42% female) participated in the study. Fitbit data (n = 96) over a 1-year period clearly illustrated seasonal peaks (late spring and autumn) and dips (winter and summer school holidays) in physical activity levels, with group mean values being below 12,000 steps per day throughout the year. According to conventional accelerometry data (n = 142), 26% met guidelines, which tended to differ according to season of measurement (spring 39%, summer 11%, fall 20%, winter 39%; p-value = 0.053). Questionnaire data (n = 134) identified that the most widely reported activities were walking (81%) and running (78%) with walking being the highest in summer and fall and running in winter and spring. Furthermore, regardless of overall activity levels the children exhibit similar seasonal variation.
We demonstrated that physical activity level changes across seasons in children with CHD. It is important to be aware of these fluctuations when assessing and interpreting physical activity levels. Season specific counselling for physical activity may be beneficial in a clinical setting.

Therefore, cross-species PAS identification, which enables the possibility to predict PAS from untrained species, naturally becomes a promising direction. In our works, we propose a novel deep learning method named Poly(A)-DG for cross-species PAS identification. Poly(A)-DG consists of a Convolution Neural Network-Multilayer Perceptron (CNN-MLP) network and a domain generalization technique. It learns PAS patterns from the training species and identifies PAS in target species without re-training. To test our method, we use four species and build cross-species training sets with two of them and evaluate the performance of the remaining ones. Data were collected as part of a prospective cohort study at BC Children's Hospital, Vancouver, Canada. Daily step counts of children aged 9-16 years with moderate-to-severe CHD were assessed continuously for 1-year via a commercial activity tracker (Fitbit Charge 2™). Physical activity levels were also assessed conventionally at one time-point via accelerometers (ActiGraph) and physical activity questionnaires. 156 children (mean age 12.7±2.4 years; 42% female) participated in the study. Fitbit data (n = 96) over a 1-year period clearly illustrated seasonal peaks (late spring and autumn) and dips (winter and summer school holidays) in physical activity levels, with group mean values being below 12,000 steps per day throughout the year. According to conventional accelerometry data (n = 142), 26% met guidelines, which tended to differ according to season of measurement (spring 39%, summer 11%, fall 20%, winter 39%; p-value = 0.053). Scope of practice of family physicians (FPs) has been decreasing overall. Our objective was to determine if the distribution of declining scope occurs across urban and rural settings.
We used secondary data from practicing FPs collected on the American Board of Family Medicine examination registration demographic questionnaire from 2014 to 2016 on scope of practice merged with county-level data from the Area Health Resources File. Rurality was assigned using 4 population-based groupings from the Rural Urban Continuum Codes. Outcome measures were scope of practice score (0-30, higher score reflecting broader scope) and provision of specific types of care/procedures. Bivariate statistics assessed changes in scope of practice over time. Adjusted regression models tested associations between time, physician, practice, and county characteristics with scope of practice score.

The hard negative mining algorithm significantly boosted both classification (p<.001) and localization (p<.001) performance of the model by reducing false-positive predictions.

The new compounds can serve as molecular probes to dissect the multifunctional mechanisms of ALLINIs to inform the discovery of new allosteric inhibitors. The free energy protocol developed here can be more broadly applied to study quantitatively the effects of small molecules on modulating the strengths of protein-protein interactions.
Electronic clinical decision support (CDS) for treatment of community-acquired pneumonia (ePNa) is associated with improved guideline adherence and decreased mortality. How rural providers respond to CDS developed for urban hospitals could shed light on extending CDS to resource-limited settings.
ePNa was deployed into 10 rural and critical access hospital emergency departments (EDs) in Utah and Idaho in 2018. We reviewed pneumonia cases identified through ICD-10 codes after local deployment to measure ePNa utilization and guideline adherence. ED providers were surveyed to assess quantitative and qualitative aspects of satisfaction.
ePNa was used in 109/301 patients with pneumonia (36%, range 0%-67% across hospitals) and was associated with appropriate antibiotic selection (93% vs 65%, P < .001). Fifty percent of survey recipients responded, 87% were physicians, 87% were men, and the median ED experience was 10 years. Mean satisfaction with ePNa was 3.3 (range 1.7-4.8) on a 5-point Likert scale. Providers with a favorable opinion of ePNa were more likely to favor implementation of additional CDS (P = .005). Satisfaction was not associated with provider type, age, years of experience or experience with ePNa. Ninety percent of respondents provided qualitative feedback. The most common theme in high and low utilization hospitals was concern about usability. Compared to high utilization hospitals, low utilization hospitals more frequently identified concerns about adaptation for local needs.

We performed a meta-analysis to analyze perioperative outcomes and complications of ICUD compared to ECUD following RARC. This study is registered at International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) CRD42020164074. A systematic literature review was conducted using PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases in August 2019. A total of six studies comparing ICUD vs ECUD were identified and meta-analysis was conducted on these studies. In addition, a cumulative analysis was also performed on 83 studies that reported perioperative outcomes after RARC and ICUD or ECUD. The Weighed Mean Difference of operative time and blood loss between ICUD and ECUD group was (16; 95% confidence interval - 34 to 66) and (- 86; 95% confidence interval - 124 to - 48), respectively. ICUD and ECUD had comparable early (30-day) and mid-term (30-90-day) complication rate (RR 1.19; 95% confidence interval 0.71-2.0; p = 0.5) and (RR 0.91; 95% confidence interval 0.71-1.15 p = 0.4) respectively. Tissue-specific ApDXS gene expression by quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) revealed maximum fold expression in the leaves followed by stem and roots. Further, the differential gene expression profile of Jasmonic acid (JA)-elicited in vitro adventitious root cultures showed enhanced ApDXS expression compared to untreated control cultures. A. paniculata 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (ApHMGR) gene expression was also studied where it was up-regulated by JA elicitation but showed lower expression compared to ApDXS. The highest expression of both genes was found at 25 µm JA elicitation followed by 50 µm. HPLC data indicated that the transcription levels were correlated with increased andrographolide accumulation. The present study aimed to assess the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of uterine sarcoma cases. A retrospective cohort study with 122 women recruited between 2001 and 2016 was performed. The data regarding epidemiology, clinical presentation, treatment and follow-up were analyzed based on the following histological types Carcinosarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS) and adenosarcoma. Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics, logistic regression and survival curves. Air pollution, green space and smoking are known to affect human health. However, less is known about their underlying biological mechanisms. One of these mechanisms could be biological aging. In this study, we explore the mediation of biomarkers of exposure and biological aging to explain the associations between environmental exposures, health behavior and mental health.
The study population of this cross-sectional study (
= 1168) is a subsample of the Belgian 2018 Health Interview Survey (BHIS). Mental health indicators including psychological and severe psychological distress, life satisfaction, vitality, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, subjective health and depressive and anxiety disorders, demographics and health behavior such as smoking are derived from the BHIS. Urine and blood samples are collected to measure respectively the biomarkers of exposure (urinary black carbon (**) and (hydroxy)cotinine) and the biomarkers of biological aging (mitochondrial DNA content (mtDNAc) and telomere lengthpectively 1130, 1120 and 985 participants.
By use of personal markers of air pollution and smoking, as well as biological aging, we will gain knowledge about the association between environmental exposures, health behavior, and the mental health status. Ethiopia is currently planning to introduce Social Health Insurance (SHI) that will lead to universal health coverage and assist a country to achieve its health system's objectives and to prevent the catastrophic health expenditure. But there is no evidence until now about the level of acceptance of the proposed SHI among government-owned companies' employees. Therefore, this study was intended to assess the acceptance of SHI and associated factors among government-owned companies' employees in northwest Ethiopia.
An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted from February 1 to April 30, 2019. A randomly selected 541 government-owned companies' employees were participated in the study. A pretested self-administered structured questionnaire was used that consisted sociodemographic and economic, health status-related factors, attitude (measured by 12 items), organizational related factors and knowledge about SHI (measured by 11 items). Finally, binary logistic regression analysis was performed anors that affect acceptance of the proposed SHI among the government-owned company employees. Therefore, policymakers should devise a plan to promote the benefit packages of SHI for the formal sector employees to start the implementation.

Background Patient safety is a fundamental component of health care quality and medical errors continue to occur, placing patients at risk. Medical error reporting systems could help reduce the errors. Purpose This study assessed "Medical error reporting among Physicians and Nurses in Uganda". The objectives were; (1) identify the existing medical error reporting systems. (2) Assess the types of medical errors that occurred. (3) Establish factors influencing error reporting. Methods A cross-sectional, descriptive study in Kisubi and Entebbe hospitals between March to August 2013, with quantitative methods. Results Medical errors occurred in the two hospitals (53.2%), with overdoses (42.9%) leading. Neither hospital had a medical error reporting system. More than two thirds, 42(64.6%), would not report. Almost half, 29(44.6%) believe reporting a medical error is a medical obligation. This is partly due to the lack of empirical data pertinent to traditional healer training that could inform the accreditation process. Objective To determine core competencies acquired by Traditional Health Practitioners (THP) of KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa during their apprenticeship. Materials and methods Purposeful, convenient and snowballing sampling and the sequential data collection methods of questionnaires, journaling and focus groups was used to collect data from the THP tutors and their trainees in rural, peri-urban and urban areas of eThekwini and uThungulu Districts of Kwa Zulu Natal (KZN). Results Eleven core competencies were identified consultation, diagnoses, holistic patient care and treatment, integrative and holistic healing, application of healing procedures and cultural rituals, spiritual development, ethical competencies, problem solving, herbalism, ancestral knowledge and end of life care. Conclusion The apprenticeship of THPs in KZN is based on eleven core competencies. These competencies are fundamental pillars for critical health care provided by THPs and are crucial for setting standards for the accreditation of traditional training in South Africa if the THP Act 22 of 2007 is to achieve its purpose of providing for the management of and control over the registration, training and conduct of the practitioners. Multiple stressors contribute to the stress of doctors resulting in negative consequences. Objective The objective of the current study was to determine, categorize and to rank the existing stressors according to their significance for medical healthcare professionals in Pakistan. Method A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from 327 doctors. 47.2% were males while 52.8% were females. A structured questionnaire was developed and convenience sampling technique was applied to collect the data from the different positions of healthcare professionals. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed to categorize and to analyse the underlying structure of stressors. Finally, the stressors were ranked according to their significance. Results Appropriateness of factor model was judged through Kaiser, Meyer and Olkin (KMO) index which was 0.905, and by Bartlett's Test of Sphericity which resulted significant (Approx. Chi- Square= 1111.529, Df =136, Sig.=0.000). Seventeen stressors were converted into four categories by factor analysis and were supported by both scree plot and eigen values. The variance explained by the first, second, third and fourth component was 20.89%, 19.09%, 16.33%, and 11.72% respectively. The 4 components cumulatively explained 68.03% of the total variability in the data, hence supported the extraction of 4 components. Conclusion There are number of factors which enhance the stress of healthcare professionals. In Pakistan, the major stressor of medical healthcare professionals is "career & reward prospects" followed by "workplace environmental stressor". Method A 6 year retrospective study was conducted to find out the clinical presentation and physiotherapy management of cerebral palsy patients in ESUT Teaching Hospital Enugu, Nigeria, between June 2009 and May, 2015. Result 146(30.2%) cases of cerebral palsy were noted out of 483 children seen within the period. There was male predominance n- 86(58.9%) and the commonest cause of cerebral palsy was birth asphyxia n- 56(38.4%).Several physiotherapy treatment modalities were applied, the common ones being neurodevelopment therapy, trans-cutaneous electric nerve stimulation, and passive and active exercise modules.Majority of the patients' accessed treatment less than 5 times n- 86(59%) and were lost to follow up subsequently. Slightly more than 10% of the patients accessed treatment consistently for 3 months.
