To evaluate the effects of sleep restriction on cue-induced alcohol seeking, reinstatement tests were conducted after 6-h of total (slow wave + rapid eye movement [REM]) sleep restriction using the gentle handling method or after 6-h of REM sleep-only restriction using the flower pot method. Relevant control conditions also were evaluated. The results showed that acute restriction of total sleep, but not REM sleep primarily, significantly augmented cue-induced reinstatement of alcohol seeking. This increase was specific to total sleep restriction conditions and cannot be attributed to differences in alcohol intake, responding, or days to extinction. Our findings imply that acute slow wave sleep restriction is necessary and/or sufficient for the enhancement of cue-induced alcohol seeking and, further, suggest that decreased slow wave sleep in AUD patients places individuals at a unique risk for relapse.
The efficacy and safety of his-purkinje system pacing (HPSP) upgrades in patients with pacing-induced cardiomyopathy (PICM) and atrial fibrillation (AF) are still unknown.
Patients with PICM were continuously enrolled from January 2018 to March 2020. We performed between-task correlations within domain (pertaining to convergent validity), and between domain (pertaining to discriminant validity) at both the behavioral and neural level and found that neural convergent validity was positively associated with behavioral convergent validity. In examining neural validity across the lifespan, we found significant reductions in both within- and between-domain task correlations, with a significant decrease in construct validity (convergent or discriminant) with age. Furthermore, the effect of age on total cognition was significantly mediated by neural construct validity. Here, we analysed the effects of HOPX-knockdown and overexpression on SCC tumorigenicity in vitro and in vivo. Our data demonstrate that HOPX-knockdown in SCC cells inhibits their proliferative and invasive activity through the acceleration of apoptosis. We established that methylation of two alternative HOPX-promoters leads to differential expression of HOPX-transcripts in normal keratinocytes and SCC cells. However, the expression and significance of PD-1 on skin-infiltrating CD8+ T cells in human psoriasis is not known. By analyzing skin-infiltrating T cells from human psoriasis, we found that active psoriatic epidermis contained PD-1 expressing CD8+CD103+ T cells that correlated with the disease severity and histopathology. PD-1+CD8+CD103+ T cells possessed a canonical psoriasis-specific resident memory phenotype with IL-23R expression and produced IL-17A, whereas PD-1-CD8+CD103+ T cells preferentially produced IFN-γ. The diversity of skin-infiltrating T cells was dominated by CD4+ T cells, while CD8+ T cells, especially CD8+CD103+T cells, represented an oligoclonal population in active psoriasis. In addition, PD-1+CD8+CD103+T cells used different TCR Vβs from PD-1-CD8+CD103+T cells counterpart. In the early resolved lesion, the composition and functional status of PD-1+CD8+CD103+T cells were markedly altered, while PD-1-CD8+CD103+ T cells population was minimally changed. Collectively, PD-1 expression delineates a putative pathogenic subset of epidermal CD8+CD103+ T cells, which possibly play a role in psoriasis pathogenesis.

Emerging studies propose that conduction system pacing either by His bundle pacing or bundle branch pacing is advantageous in this population. The anatomical abnormality of CCTGA conveniently positions the left bundle branches on the easily accessible right ventricular septal side. We present a case of a young female CCTGA patient with exercise-induced heart block who received left bundle branch area pacing with the ventricular lead implanted at the conventional right ventricular septal approach without the need for 3-dimensional electroanatomical mapping.
Longitudinal monitoring of sometimes subtle waveform changes of the 12‑lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is complicated by patient-specific and technical factors, such as the inaccuracy of electrode repositioning. This feasibility study uses a 3D camera to reduce electrode repositioning errors, reduce ECG waveform variability and enable detailed longitudinal ECG monitoring.
Per subject, three clinical ECGs were obtained during routine clinical follow-up. Additionally, two ECGs were recorded guided by two 3D cameras, which were used to capture the precordial electrode locations and direct electrode repositioning. ECG waveforms and parameters were quantitatively compared between 3D camera guided ECGs and clinical ECGs. Euclidian distances between original and repositioned precordial electrodes from 3D guided ECGs were measured.
Twenty subjects (mean age 65.1 ± 8.2 years, 35% females) were included. The ECG waveform variation between routine ECGs was significantly higher compared to 3D guided ECGs, for both the clinical practice.Currently, the therapeutic options for treatment of liver failure are very limited. As mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 4 (MKK4) has recently been identified by in vivo RNAi experiments to be a major regulator in hepatocyte regeneration, we pursued the development of a small molecule targeting this protein kinase. Starting from the approved BRAFV600E inhibitor vemurafenib (8), that showed a high off-target affinity to MKK4 in an initial screening, we followed a scaffold-hopping approach, changing the core heterocycle from 1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine to 1H-pyrazolo[2,3-b]pyridine (10). Affinity to MKK4 could be conserved while the selectivity against off-target protein kinases was slightly improved. Further modifications led to 58 and 59 showing high affinity to MKK4 in the low nanomolar range and excellent selectivity profile from mandatory multiparameter-optimization for the essential anti-targets (MKK7, JNK1) and off-targets (BRAF, MAP4K5, ZAK) in the MKK4 pathway. SPMs are predominately synthesized from the n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) acids. Therefore, one viable strategy to promote inflammation resolution would be to increase dietary intake of EPA/DHA, which are deficient in select populations. However, there are inconsistencies between the use of EPA/DHA as dietary or pharmacological supplements and improved inflammatory status. Herein, we review the literature on the relationship between the high n-6/n-3 PUFA ratio, downstream SPM biosynthesis, and inflammatory endpoints. We highlight key studies that have investigated how dietary intake of EPA/DHA increase tissue SPMs and their effects on inflammation. We also discuss the biochemical pathways by which EPA/DHA drive SPM biosynthesis and underscore mechanistic gaps in knowledge about these pathways which include a neglect for host genetics/ethnic differences in SPM metabolism, sexual dimorphism in SPM levels, and potential competition from select dietary n-6 PUFAs for enzymes of SPM synthesis. Here we examined the level of 5-HT and expression of NOX4 and TRPM2, and their roles in pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) proliferation and migration. NOX4 and TRPM2 were upregulated in pulmonary arteries of CHPH rats, which were associated with elevated levels of 5-HT and ROS, and enhanced proliferation and migration in PASMCs. The increase in ROS, and the enhanced proliferation and migration of PASMCs from CHPH rats were mimicked by treating normoxic PASMCs with 5-HT.

In contrast, this paper presents a smart video surveillance system executing AI algorithms in low power consumption embedded devices. The computer vision algorithm, typical for surveillance applications, aims to detect, count and track people's movements in the area. This application requires a distributed smart camera system. The proposed AI application allows detecting people in the surveillance area using a MobileNet-SSD architecture. In addition, using a robust Kalman filter bank, the algorithm can keep track of people in the video also providing people counting information. We describe a collaborative process to inform the design of evidence-based, user-centred physical activity resources which reflect diverse experiences of pregnancy and early parenthood. Two iterative, collaborative phases involving patient and public involvement (PPI) workshops, a scoping survey (n = 553) and stakeholder events engaged women and maternity, policy and physical activity stakeholders to inform pilot resource development. These activities shaped understanding of challenges experienced by maternity and physical activity service providers, pregnant women and new mothers in relation to supporting physical activity. Working collaboratively with women and stakeholders, we co-designed pilot resources and identified important considerations for future resource development. Outcomes and lessons learned from this process will inform further work to support physical activity during pregnancy and beyond, but also wider health research where such collaborative approaches are important. In contrast, this paper presents a smart video surveillance system executing AI algorithms in low power consumption embedded devices. The computer vision algorithm, typical for surveillance applications, aims to detect, count and track people's movements in the area. This application requires a distributed smart camera system. The proposed AI application allows detecting people in the surveillance area using a MobileNet-SSD architecture. In addition, using a robust Kalman filter bank, the algorithm can keep track of people in the video also providing people counting information. We describe a collaborative process to inform the design of evidence-based, user-centred physical activity resources which reflect diverse experiences of pregnancy and early parenthood. Two iterative, collaborative phases involving patient and public involvement (PPI) workshops, a scoping survey (n = 553) and stakeholder events engaged women and maternity, policy and physical activity stakeholders to inform pilot resource development. These activities shaped understanding of challenges experienced by maternity and physical activity service providers, pregnant women and new mothers in relation to supporting physical activity. Working collaboratively with women and stakeholders, we co-designed pilot resources and identified important considerations for future resource development. Outcomes and lessons learned from this process will inform further work to support physical activity during pregnancy and beyond, but also wider health research where such collaborative approaches are important. To investigate the differences in survival between lobectomy and sub-lobar resection for elderly stage I non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registry.
The data of stage IA elderly NSCLC patients (≥ 70 years) with tumors less than or equal to 3cm in diameter were extracted. Propensity-matched analysis was used. Lung cancer-specific survival (LCSS) was compared among the patients after lobectomy and sub-lobar resection. The proportional hazards model was applied to identify multiple prognostic factors.

Lung cancer represents the first cause of cancer-related death in the world. Radiomics studies arise rapidly in this late decade. The aim of this review is to identify important recent publications to be synthesized into a comprehensive review of the current statusof radiomics in lung cancer at each step of the patients' care.
A literature review was conducted using PubMed/Medline for search of relevant peer-reviewed publications from January 2012 to June 2020.
We identified several studies at each point of patient's care detection and classification of lung nodules (n=16), determination of histology and genomic (n=10) and finally treatment outcomes predictions (=23). We reported the methodology of those studies and their results and discuss the limitations and the progress to be made for clinical routine applications.
Promising perspectives arise from machine learning applications and radiomics based models in lung cancers, yet further data are necessary for their implementation in daily care. Multicentric collaboration and attention to quality and reproductivity of radiomics studies should be further consider.

Tumor samples from patients with **, AMC, or AC were analyzed using next-generation sequencing. ** had a molecular signature distinct from that of AC; genomic features were similar between AMC and ** but not between AMC and AC. HER2 amplification and TP53 and APC mutation rates were lower, whereas SMAD4, PIK3CA, ACVR2A, KMT2D, LRP1, TGFBR2, GRIN2A, BRAF V600E, PTEN, and BRCA2 mutation rates were higher in ** than in AC. We studied the TME of CRC with single-cell sequencing and consequently found that Bcl9 depletion caused a pro-tumor effect of CAFs, while inhibition of abnormal activation of Wnt/β-catenin signal through Bcl9 depletion benefited T-cell-mediated antitumor immune responses. We also identified and evaluated four types of CAFs in CRC with liver metastasis. In summary, we demonstrate cell type landscape and transcription difference upon BCL9 suppression in CAFs, as well as how CAF affects cancer associated immune surveillance by inhibition of Wnt signaling.

Patient navigation programs can help people overcome barriers to outpatient care. Patient experiences with these programs are not well understood. The goal of this study was to understand patient experiences and satisfaction with an emergency department (ED)-initiated patient navigation (ED-PN) intervention for US Medicaid-enrolled frequent ED users.
We conducted a mixed-methods evaluation of patient experiences and satisfaction with an ED-PN program for patients who visited the ED more than four times in the prior year. Participants were Medicaid-enrolled, English- or Spanish-speaking, New Haven-CT residents over the age of 18. Pre-post ED-PN intervention surveys and post-ED-PN individual interviews were conducted. We analyzed baseline and follow-up survey responses as proportions of total responses. Interviews were coded by multiple readers, and interview themes were identified by consensus.

After receiving ED-PN, participants reported high satisfaction, fewer barriers to medical care, and increased confidence in their ability to coordinate and manage their medical care. Four main themes emerged from 11 interviews 1) PNs were perceived as effective navigators and advocates; 2) health-related social needs were frequent drivers of and barriers to healthcare; 3) primary care utilization depended on clinic accessibility and quality of relationships with providers and staff; and 4) the ED was viewed as providing convenient, comprehensive care for urgent needs.

Wrestling is one of the fastest-growing sports among females in the United States (US). However, female wrestling injuries remain poorly characterized. In this study we describe historical and projected national estimates of female wrestling injuries, and compare injury characteristics with those of male wrestlers.
We queried the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) database (2005-2019) to compare national weighted estimates and injury characteristics of male vs female wrestlers presenting to US emergency departments (ED) and projected annual female wrestling injuries expected by 2030.
Our analyses demonstrated a significant (P < 0.001) increase in female wrestling injuries between 2005 (N = 1500; confidence interval [CI], 923 - 2,078) and 2019 (N = 3,404; CI 2,296 - 4,513). Linear regression (R2 = 0.69; P < 0.001) projected 4,558 (CI, 3104 - 6033) such injuries in 2030. Of female wrestling injuries 50.1% (CI, 44.1 - 56.2) occurred in patients 14-18 years of age. Compared with agnt of injuries and specific training strategies aimed at prevention may help to reduce the projected increase of female wrestling-associated injuries as the popularity of the sport continues to rise.
The handover process in the emergency department (ED) is relevant for patient outcomes and lays the foundation for adequate patient care. The aim of this study was to examine the current prehospital to ED handover practice with regard to content, structure, and scope.
We carried out a prospective, multicenter observational study using a specifically developed checklist. The steps of the handover process in the ED were documented in relation to qualification of the emergency medical services (EMS) staff, disease severity, injury patterns, and treatment priority.
We documented and evaluated 721 handovers based on the checklist. According to ISBAR (Identification, Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation), MIST (Mechanism, Injuries, Signs/Symptoms, Treatment), and BAUM (Situation [German Bestand], Anamnesis, Examination [German Untersuchung], Measures), almost all handovers showed a deficit in structure and scope (99.4%). The age of the patient was reported 339 times (47.0%) at the time of handovee transfer of information. A "hand-off bundle" must be created to standardize the handover process, consisting of a uniform mnemonic accompanied by education of staff, training, and an audit process.
Emergency department (ED) patients are frequently ventilated with excessively large tidal volumes for predicted body weight based on height, which has been linked to poorer patient outcomes. We hypothesized that supplying tape measures to respiratory therapists (RT) would improve measurement of actual patient height and adherence to a lung-protective ventilation strategy in an ED-intensive care unit (ICU) environment.
On January 14, 2019, as part of a ventilator-associated pneumonia prevention bundle in our ED-based ICU, we began providing RTs with tape measures and created a best practice advisory reminding them to record patient height. We then retrospectively collected data on patient height and tidal volumes before and after the intervention.
We evaluated 51,404 tidal volume measurements in 1,826 patients over the 4 year study period; of these patients, 1,579 (86.5%) were pre-intervention and 247 (13.5%) were post-intervention. The intervention was associated with a odds of the patient's height beinive strategy more frequently after an intervention reminding RTs to measure actual patient height and providing a tape measure to do so. In this study we describe historical and projected national estimates of female wrestling injuries, and compare injury characteristics with those of male wrestlers. We queried the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) database (2005-2019) to compare national weighted estimates and injury characteristics of male vs female wrestlers presenting to US emergency departments (ED) and projected annual female wrestling injuries expected by 2030. Our analyses demonstrated a significant (P < 0.001) increase in female wrestling injuries between 2005 (N = 1500; confidence interval [CI], 923 - 2,078) and 2019 (N = 3,404; CI 2,296 - 4,513). Linear regression (R2 = 0.69; P < 0.001) projected 4,558 (CI, 3104 - 6033) such injuries in 2030. Of female wrestling injuries 50.1% (CI, 44.1 - 56.2) occurred in patients 14-18 years of age. The handover process in the emergency department (ED) is relevant for patient outcomes and lays the foundation for adequate patient care. The aim of this study was to examine the current prehospital to ED handover practice with regard to content, structure, and scope. We carried out a prospective, multicenter observational study using a specifically developed checklist. The steps of the handover process in the ED were documented in relation to qualification of the emergency medical services (EMS) staff, disease severity, injury patterns, and treatment priority. We documented and evaluated 721 handovers based on the checklist. According to ISBAR (Identification, Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation), MIST (Mechanism, Injuries, Signs/Symptoms, Treatment), and BAUM (Situation [German Bestand], Anamnesis, Examination [German Untersuchung], Measures), almost all handovers showed a deficit in structure and scope (99.4%). We retrospectively reviewed carotid body tumor patients diagnosed in our institution from January 2015 to May 2020. The demographics, comorbidities, lesion location, anatomic characteristics, complications, and postoperative outcomes were evaluated. Carotid body tumor measurements were determined from computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and carotid arteriography examination. We described and compared the clinical features of carotid body tumors in our institution and other reports.
We totally identified 122 carotid body tumor cases for the present analysis. The mean age was 50.26 years, with the majority being female (82%). The commonestid body tumors. Percutaneous dialysis access interventions are routinely used to maintain the patency of dialysis access despite the lack of data regarding their long-term effectiveness. This retrospective study was undertaken to study the effectiveness and safety of percutaneous dialysis access interventions in arm fistulas and bridge grafts in an office-based endovascular center.
Patients who had a percutaneous dialysis access intervention in their upper extremity access site, performed at a single office-based endovascular center over a nine-year period (2007-2016) were included in this study. The patients' demographic factors, patency, and complications were analyzed. Patients were entered in the study after first percutaneous dialysis access intervention.
A total of 298 limbs in 259 patients had 913 procedures carried out over a nine-year period. There were 190 access arteriovenous fistulas and 108 arteriovenous grafts. The two most common arteriovenous fistulas were the brachiocephalic fistula (
= 74, 39%) and orer outcomes as compared to men.
This data support the use of repeated percutaneous dialysis access intervention to maintain long-term patency of dialysis access sites in an office-based endovascular center. Overall, fistulas have longer patency than grafts and women have poorer outcomes as compared to men.

Bacterial pathogens have evolved multiple strategies to disassemble epithelial cell apical junctional complexes (AJCs) and infect epithelial cells. Leptospirosis is a widespread zoonotic infection, mainly caused by Leptospira interrogans, and its dissemination across host cell barriers is essential for its pathogenesis. However, the mechanism of bacterial dissemination across epithelial cell barriers remains poorly characterised. In this study, we analysed the interaction of L. interrogans with renal proximal tubule epithelial cells (RPTECs) and found that at 24 hr post-infection, L. interrogans remain in close contact with the plasma membrane of the RPTEC by extracellularly adhering or crawling. Leptospira interrogans cleaved E-cadherin and induced its endocytosis with release of the soluble N-terminal fragment into the extracellular medium. Concomitantly, a gradual decrease in transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER), mislocalisation of AJC proteins (occludin, claudin-10, ZO-1, and cingulin) and cytoskeletal rearrangement were observed. Inhibition of clathrin-mediated E-cadherin endocytosis prevented the decrease in TEER. We showed that disassembly of AJCs in epithelial cells and transmigration of bacteria through the paracellular route are important for the dissemination of L. interrogans in the host.

The study aimed to identify social factors predicting improvement of frailty in community-dwelling older adults after 2 years using a population-based cohort study.
We analyzed data from the 2016 and 2018 Korean Frailty and Aging Cohort Study. The participants of this study were 1428 community-dwelling older adults aged 70-84 years who were recruited from 10 medical centers across different regions. Frailty was measured using the five-item FRAIL scale, which evaluates fatigue, resistance, ambulation, illness and weight loss. Multilevel logistic regression analysis was used to examine baseline social factors that predict frailty improvement after 2 years by frailty status.
In frail older adults, higher participation in social activities (odds ratio [OR] 1.17, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.02-1.34) was significantly associated with frailty improvement. In pre-frail older adults, there were no significant social factors predicting the improvement of frailty status; however, other modifiable factors such as high and moderate levels of physical activity (OR 1.17, 95% CI 1.07-1.28, OR 1.13, 95% CI 1.03-1.25, respectively) and low depressive symptoms (OR 0.88, 95% CI 0.84-0.91) were associated with pre-frail improvements. High levels of physical activity (OR 1.16, 95% CI 1.02-1.33) were also associated with improvements of frailty.

The study aimed to identify social factors predicting improvement of frailty in community-dwelling older adults after 2 years using a population-based cohort study. We analyzed data from the 2016 and 2018 Korean Frailty and Aging Cohort Study. The participants of this study were 1428 community-dwelling older adults aged 70-84 years who were recruited from 10 medical centers across different regions. Frailty was measured using the five-item FRAIL scale, which evaluates fatigue, resistance, ambulation, illness and weight loss. Multilevel logistic regression analysis was used to examine baseline social factors that predict frailty improvement after 2 years by frailty status. In frail older adults, higher participation in social activities (odds ratio [OR] 1.17, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.02-1.34) was significantly associated with frailty improvement. In pre-frail older adults, there were no significant social factors predicting the improvement of frailty status; however, other modifiable factors such as high and moderate levels of physical activity (OR 1.17, 95% CI 1.07-1.28, OR 1.13, 95% CI 1.03-1.25, respectively) and low depressive symptoms (OR 0.88, 95% CI 0.84-0.91) were associated with pre-frail improvements. High levels of physical activity (OR 1.16, 95% CI 1.02-1.33) were also associated with improvements of frailty. Different strategies depending on the level of frailty are necessary to improve frailty status. Despite the proven benefits of dexamethasone in hospitalized COVID-19 patients, the optimum time for the administration of dexamethasone is unknown. We investigated the progression of COVID-19 pneumonia based on the timing of dexamethasone administration.
A single-center, retrospective cohort study based on medical record reviews was conducted between June 10 and September 21, 2020. We compared the risk of severe COVID-19, defined as the use of a high-flow nasal cannula or a mechanical ventilator, between groups that received dexamethasone either within 24 hours of hypoxemia (early dexamethasone group) or 24 hours after hypoxemia (late dexamethasone group). Hypoxemia was defined as room-air SpO2 <90%.
Among 59 patients treated with dexamethasone for COVID-19 pneumonia, 30 were in the early dexamethasone group and 29 were in the late dexamethasone group. There was no significant difference in baseline characteristics, the time interval from symptom onset to diagnosis or hospitalization, or the use of antiviral or antibacterial agents between the two groups. The early dexamethasone group showed a significantly lower rate of severe COVID-19 compared to the control group (75.9% vs 40.0%, P-value=0.012). Further, the early dexamethasone group showed a significantly shorter total duration of oxygen supplementation (10.45 d vs. 21.61 d, P-value=0.003) and length of stay in the hospital (19.76 d vs. 27.21 d, P-value=0.013). However, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and in-hospital mortality rates were not significantly different between the two groups.

This article explores how merging affected the perceived legitimacy of independent community health organisations in Victoria, Australia, in providing comprehensive PHC services.
A longitudinal follow-up study (2-3 years post-merger) of two amalgamations among independent community health organisations from the state of Victoria, Australia, was conducted. This article explores the perceived effects of merging on (1) the pragmatic, normative and cognitive legitimacy of studied organisations and (2) the collective legitimacy of these organisations in Victoria's health care system. Data were collected through 19 semi-structured interviews with key informants and subjected to template and thematic analyses.
Merging enabled individual organisations to gain greater overall legitimacy as regional providers of comprehensive PHC services and thus retain some capacity to operationalise a social model of health.

Growing evidence indicates that systemic immune inflammation index (SII) can predict the prognosis of various solid tumors. The objective of this study aimed to investigate the efficacy of SII in predicting the prognosis of gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) patients after radical surgery.
A consecutive series of 93 patients with GBC who underwent radical resection were enrolled in the retrospective study. The cutoff value for the SII was calculated using the time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis by overall survival (OS) prediction. The associations between the SII and the clinicopathologic characteristics were analyzed using Pearson's χ
test and Fisher's exact test. Survival curves were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Univariate analysis was performed to evaluate the prognostic relevance of preoperative parameters. The multivariate Cox regression proportional hazard model was used to assess variables significant on univariate analysis.
The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and the multivariate analysis of patients with GBC who received radical resection showed SII independently predicted OS. The univariate analysis showed that the TNM stage, SII, CA19-9, ALP, prealbumin, NLR, MLR, lymph node metastasis, and histopathological type were all associated with overall survival. In time-dependent ROC analysis, the area of the SII-CA19-9 under the ROC curve (AUC) was higher than that of the preoperative SII or CA19-9 levels for the prediction of OS.
Our results demonstrate that high SII was a predictor of poor long-term outcomes among patients with GBC undergoing curative surgery. SII-CA19-9 classification may be more effective in predicting the postoperative prognosis of GBC patients.

This article discloses a method to manipulate the orientation and curvature of 3D matrix pattern by redesigning the top wall of microfluidic chamber and the technique to create a 3D longitudinal pattern along preinserted polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) rods. Experimental results showed a good agreement with model predictions. This research can actively contribute to the development of better organs-on-chips platforms with capability of controlling cell architecture and density. This was largely because management also affected microclimate (e.g., spring temperatures of 5.9°C in managed coniferous, 6.7 in managed deciduous, and 7.0°C in unmanaged deciduous plots), which in turn affected phenology, with plants flowering later on colder and moister forest stands (+4.5 d per -1°C and 2.7 d per 10% humidity increase). Among forest characteristics, the percentage of conifers had the greatest influence on microclimate, but also the age, overall crown projection area, structural complexity and spatial distribution of the forest stands. Our study indicates that forest management alters plant phenology, with potential far-reaching consequences for the ecology and evolution of understorey communities.
