Midlife Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is associated with a greater risk of dementia in later life. Peripheral inflammation and its impact on cognition is proposed as one of the pathological mechanisms mediating this link. However, studies have primarily focused on older individuals with established cognitive impairment and a long duration of T2DM. Importantly, knowledge of which individuals with midlife T2DM who are at greatest risk of later cognitive decline is lacking. We examined the cross-sectional relationship between serum levels of 8 pro-inflammatory markers (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-8, MCP-1, CXCL10, IL-12p70, CRP) and performance on a detailed neuropsychological assessment battery in middle-aged adults with uncomplicated T2DM (N = 89; 52 ± 8.1 years, 47% female) and matched healthy controls (N = 50; 52 ± 8.3 years, 59% female). Linear regression was used to analyze associations between serum markers and cognitive performance in the overall cohort, followed by a T2DM∗protein concentration interaction analysis to identify any T2DM-specific effects. We observed a significant T2DM-specific association between serum TNF-α levels and scores on the Paired Associates Learning (PAL) task (β -3.16, SE 1.32, p = 0.01, Std. Beta -0.94), a task with significant working memory demands previously implicated in T2DM-related cognitive dysfunction. However, this did not persist on controlling for multiple testing. We provide exploratory evidence for a significant T2DM-specific relationship between serum TNF-α and memory performance. These findings require further replication and longitudinal analysis with the aim of selecting-out individuals with midlife T2DM at risk of future cognitive decline for potential preventative interventions.This study aimed to investigate the effect of 12 weeks of dual-task training on cognitive status, physical performance, and brain oscillation of patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). There was a significant improvement after training protocol in cognitive function, particularly in short-term and working memory, attention, and executive function (p less then 0.01). Besides, there were substantial improvements in depression status (GDS scale), aerobic fitness (6 min walking), flexibility (chair sit and reach) functional ability (chair stand, timed up and go test), strength (knee extensions, preacher biceps curl, handgrip) in TG compared to CG. These signs of progress were associated with a significant increase (p less then 0.05) in the frequency of brain oscillation and a decrease in the theta/alpha ratio. In addition to physical performance, the regular combined training with visual stimulation improves brain health as indicated by improving cognitive function and reducing the theta/alpha ratio. Demographic aging is in rapid progress in China. Up-to-date estimates of AD and PD prevalence have not been provided. Methods Studies that reported the prevalence of AD and PD in China were identified via a systematic database search from 1985 to 2018. Meta-analysis, local polynomial regression and autoregressive integrated moving average model were used for analyses. Results A total of 99 studies were included in the study with populations of 385,312 and 227,228, respectively for AD and PD. The overall prevalence of AD and PD following age standardization was 3.20% [95% confidence interval (CI) = 3.17-3.23] and 1.06% (95% CI = 1.02-1.10), respectively in individuals over 60 years old. The rates increased drastically for every 10-years increment of age. The yearly prevalence of AD was predicted to increase from 3.81 to 6.17% in the next 5 years. Significant differences were observed between genders [male to female odds ratio (OR) for AD = 0.57, 95% CI = 0.51-0.64; OR for PD = 1.25, 95% CI = 1.06-1.46], and between education levels (Illiterate to non-illiterate OR for AD = 2.99, 95% CI = 2.38-3.75), but not between urban and rural settings. Conclusion Our results provide an updated insight into the epidemiology of AD and PD in China and their associated rates and ratios. The findings may facilitate China policy makers and health professionals mitigate the related health issues.Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have recently been discovered as a novel type of endogenous non-coding RNA that may regulate gene expression in mammals. In the central nervous system (CNS), circRNAs are relevant to many neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we attempted to identify an aberrant circRNA, hsa_circ_0003391, which is significantly downregulated in the peripheral blood of patients with AD, and to explore the relationship between hsa_circ_0003391 and the clinical manifestation of AD. The expression of hsa_circ_0003391 had a specific decrease in the peripheral blood of patients with AD compared to those with other types of dementia. To evaluate the potential diagnostic value of the circRNA, we performed a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. We found a potential correlation between the expression of hsa_circ_0003391 and the clinical manifestations of AD. Furthermore, microRNAs targeted by hsa_circ_0003391 were successfully detected, and miR-574-5p had an expected elevation in the AD groups, suggesting that miR-574-5p might be a potential microRNA target for hsa_circ_0003391. Our results suggest that the downregulation of hsa_circ_0003391 in the peripheral blood has a potential relationship with AD. Our findings not only provide an important latent biomarker but also highlight an important perspective for the following study into AD pathogenesis. This may promote the process of novel therapeutics targeting non-coding RNA.

According to the monogenic model, the number of genes involved to induce sulfoxaflor resistance revealed that sulfoxaflor resistance was polygenic in nature. The realized heritability (h
) value for sulfoxaflor resistance was 0.2. The synergists experiment indicated that esterases were involved in the sulfoxaflor resistance mechanism in DCB.
The current results indicate that there is autosomal, incompletely dominant and polygenic inheritance of sulfoxaflor resistance in DCB. Our results would be helpful in delaying sulfoxaflor resistance against DCB in the field. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

As the extensor digitorum brevis muscle is a small muscle in the most distal part of the legs, its atrophy (EDBA) might reflect symmetric polyneuropathy (SPN). We aimed to clarify the EDBA-related factors and the usefulness of bilateral EDBA detection for diagnosing SPN, especially diabetic SPN (DSPN).
In 1,893 participants from the Japanese general population (investigationI) and 133 established diabetes patients (investigationII), relationships between EDBA and various factors including the traditional sitting style called "seiza'" (kneeling and sitting on one's heels) were investigated. Analyses were carried out by univariate and multivariate analysis, and SPN or DSPN was diagnosed by the criteria of "Probable DSPN" of the Toronto Consensus. The validity of EDBA detection for diagnosing SPN/DSPN was also evaluated.
InvestigationI EDBA was more prevalent in women than men (44% vs 20%). Significant EDBA-related factors were aging and seiza habit regardless of sex. Male-specific EDBA-related factors were SPN and known diabetes. In men without seiza habit, EDBA was significantly associated with SPN regardless of diabetes, so EDBA seemed to be a useful sign for diagnosing SPN/DSPN. InvestigationII In men, DSPN was more prevalent in the EDBA group than the non-EDBA group (71% vs 33%). Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and kappa coefficient of EDBA detection for diagnosing DSPN were 44, 87, 67% and 0.323, showing fair agreement.
EDBA detection might be a useful method to screen for distal symmetric polyneuropathy, such as DSPN in men, although the exclusion of individuals with seiza habit is necessary to improve accuracy.

In this randomized controlled trial, we compared the efficacy and changes in the parameters of iron metabolism and erythropoiesis between weekly and biweekly CERA administration. In total, 120 patients undergoing maintenance HD were randomized to the weekly or biweekly group. The primary end point was the total CERA dose needed to maintain the target hemoglobin (Hb) levels during a 12-week evaluation period. There was no significant difference in the total dose between the weekly and biweekly groups (median 175.0 [interquartile range (IQR) 93.8-337.5] µg/12 weeks vs. 300.0 [IQR 125.0-375.0] µg/12 weeks, P = .18). The mean Hb levels during the evaluation period were 10.9 ± 0.8 g/dL in the weekly group and 10.7 ± 0.8 g/dL in the biweekly group (P = .25). Weekly CERA administration was well tolerated. However, no immune based biomarker has yet been validated for use in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). We undertook a systematic review and meta-analysis of immune cell infiltration, measured by immunohistochemistry (IHC), as a prognostic biomarker in PDAC. All other IHC prognostic biomarkers in PDAC were also summarised. MEDLINE, EMBASE and Web of Science were searched between 1998 and 2018. Studies investigating IHC biomarkers and prognosis in PDAC were included. REMARK score and Newcastle-Ottawa scale were used for qualitative analysis. Random-effects meta-analyses were used to pool results, where possible. Twenty-six articles studied immune cell infiltration IHC biomarkers and PDAC prognosis. Meta-analysis found high infiltration with CD4 (hazard ratio [HR] = 0.65, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.51-0.83.) and CD8 (HR = 0.68, 95% CI = 0.55-0.84.) T-lymphocytes associated with better disease-free survival. Reduced overall survival was associated with high CD163 (HR = 1.62, 95% CI = 1.03-2.56). Infiltration of CD3, CD20, FoxP3 and CD68 cells, and PD-L1 expression was not prognostic. In total, 708 prognostic biomarkers were identified in 1101 studies. In summary, high CD4 and CD8 infiltration are associated with better disease-free survival in PDAC. Increased CD163 is adversely prognostic. Despite the publication of 708 IHC prognostic biomarkers in PDAC, none has been validated for clinical use. However, its association with microRNAs (miRNAs) in CC remains exclusive. Hence, this study aims to probe the role of HDAC10 in regulating CC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and its correlation with the screened-out miRNA target. Microarray analysis and RT-qPCR revealed that HDAC10 expressed poorly in CC cells relative to human immortalized endocervical cells (End1/E6E7). Moreover, HDAC10 downregulation predicted poor survival for patients with CC. Overexpression of HDAC10 reduced CC cell biological activities in vitro and tumor growth and lung metastases in vivo. miR-233, upregulated in CC, was regulated by HDAC10 through histone acetylation, while miR-233 inhibited the effects of HDAC10 overexpression in CC. miR-223 targeted the 3'-UTR of thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) and suppressed its expression, leading to increased CC development in vitro and in vivo. TXNIP overexpression impaired Wnt/β-catenin pathway activity in CC cells.

Swallow is a primitive behavior regulated by medullary networks, responsible for movement of food/liquid from the oral cavity to the esophagus. To investigate how functionally heterogeneous networks along the medullary intermediate reticular formation (IRt) and ventral respiratory column (VRC) control swallow, we electrically stimulated the nucleus tractus solitarius to induce fictive swallow between inspiratory bursts, with concurrent optical recordings using a synthetic Ca2+ indicator in the neonatal sagittally sectioned rat hindbrain (SSRH) preparation. Simultaneous recordings from hypoglossal nerve rootlet (XIIn) and ventral cervical spinal root C1-C2 enabled identification of the system-level correlates of 1) swallow (identified as activation of the XIIn but not the cervical root) and 2) Breuer-Hering expiratory reflex (BHE; lengthened expiration in response to stimuli during expiration). Optical recording revealed reconfiguration of respiration-modulated networks in the ventrolateral medulla during swallow and the BHE reflex. Recordings identified novel spatially compact networks in the IRt near the facial nucleus (VIIn) that were active during fictive swallow, suggesting that the swallow network is not restricted to the caudal medulla. After 30 days, identity of phyllosphere microbial community members was more similar within the transplant sites than between despite differences in the source of host plant. Additionally, the diversity and evenness of these communities was significantly different between the two sites. These results indicated that local environmental conditions can be a primary driver in structuring seagrass phyllosphere microbial communities over relatively short time scales. Composition of microbial community members in this study also deviated from those in previous seagrass phyllosphere studies with a higher representation of candidate bacterial phyla and archaea than previously observed. The capacity for seagrass phyllosphere microbial communities to shift dramatically with environmental conditions, including ecosystem perturbations, could significantly affect seagrass-microbe interactions in ways that may influence the health of the seagrass host.
Reverse cholesterol transport (RCT) removes cholesterol and stabilizes vulnerable plaques. In addition, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) may be cardioprotective in acute MI. Lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) may enhance RCT. The objective of this study was to investigate the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safety of multiple ascending doses of recombinant human LCAT (MEDI6012) to inform a Phase 2 b program.
This was a randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled, dose-escalation Phase 2a study of MEDI6012. Patients were randomized into 1 of 4 cohorts (40, 120, 300 mg IV weekly x3 doses, or 300 mg IV-push, 150 mg at 48-hours and 100 mg at 7 days). All cohorts were planned to randomize 62 (MEDI6012 vs placebo). The primary endpoints were baseline-adjusted AUC from 0-96 hours post dose-3 (AUC0-96hr) for HDL-C, HDL cholesteryl ester (HDL-CE), and total cholesteryl ester (CE). The primary safety endpoints were treatment-emergent adverse events (AEs).
A total of 32 patients were randomized. MEDI6012 significantly increased AUC0-96hr for HDL-C, HDL-CE and CE in a graded fashion with increasing doses. Relative to placebo, MEDI6012 increased HDL-C at Day 19 by 66% (95%CI 33-99, p = 0.014) with 120 mg and 144% (95%CI 108-181, p < 0.001) with 300 mg. An IV-push increased HDL-C by 40.8% at 30 minutes. Overall AEs were similar between groups with no severe, life-threatening/fatal AEs or neutralizing antibodies.

Systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies including AF patients on DOACs. The latter drug performed better than Rivaroxaban (HR 1.2, 95% CI 1.0-1.5). Dabigatran and Apixaban had a similar association with HS, but Apixaban performed better than Rivaroxaban (HR 1.8, 95% CI 1.1-3.0). Apixaban had a similar association with Rivaroxaban and Dabigatran for ICH, the latter drug performing better than Rivaroxaban (HR 1.3, 95% CI 1.0-1.7). The analysis is based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 Te , collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2016-2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb - 1 . The search uses the decay channels Z → e e and Z → μ μ . No significant excess of events is observed over the background expected from the standard model. Limits are set on dark matter particle production in the context of simplified models with vector, axial-vector, scalar, and pseudoscalar mediators, as well as on a two-Higgs-doublet model with an additional pseudoscalar mediator. In addition, limits are provided for spin-dependent and spin-independent scattering cross sections and are compared to those from direct-detection experiments. The results are also interpreted in the context of models of invisible Higgs boson decays, unparticles, and large extra dimensions.

This study explored mothers' knowledge and use of complementary and alternative therapies for infants younger than 3 months in Jordan and their reasons for using these remedies.
This was a cross-sectional study of a convenience sample of mothers of babies born in 2015 in Jordan. Data were collected using a questionnaire posted on six Facebook groups that target mothers in Jordan. Mothers were asked about their use of several complementary and alternative therapies for different conditions.
Of 1028 questionnaires received, 520 were included in the analysis. Most mothers (81.3%) were 18-29 years old and had a university degree (78.3%). Most knew about the use of the complementary and alternative medicines for bloating/ colic but had never used them. Of the medicines used for bloating/colic, aniseed was most often used (by 70.2% of mothers). Aniseed was also used by 60.8% of mothers to help their baby sleep and by 48.1% for constipation. The main reasons for using these remedies were availability at home (60.4%) and social acceptability of their use (55.4%). The main sources of information about these medicines were older female relatives (78.1%) and social media (56.0%).

Improvements, no change, or mixed results were reported across the majority of outcomes explored. Two PA-related adverse events (e.g., a treatable injury, fatigue) were described. Included articles varied greatly in quality and risk of bias. Findings confirm that PA for children and adolescents affected by cancer is a rapidly growing field. More adequately powered research, focused on priority outcomes, adopting appropriate study designs, and adhering to reporting standards is required. Addressing these gaps will enable a better understanding of the effects of PA. The amount of PAHs delivered to humans in seafood, based on reported landings, is trivially small compared to the total inputs, sediment accumulation and other possible fates (metabolic remineralization, export in tides, etc.), which remain poorly known. The generally higher concentrations in biota from Galveston Bay compared to other coastal habitats can be attributed to both intermittent spills of gas and oil and the bay's close proximity to high production of pyrogenic PAHs within the urban industrial complex of the city of Houston as well as periodic flood events that transport PAHs from land surfaces to the Bay.This paper examines recent changes in the life trajectories of Indian women. We use data from four major national population surveys that span the years 1998-2016. We look at several cohorts of women across the states and regions. We compare decisions related to education, marriage, childbearing and participation in the labor force. Though there is considerable diversity across states and regions, as well as religious groups, we find some consistent patterns that emerge everywhere. First, educational attainment and the age at marriage have been steadily increasing. Women who do not complete secondary school are more likely to marry early. Second, caste and religion (rather than education) play a significant role in decisions after marriage, such as the timing of births, the use of contraception and labor force participation. Third, women from disadvantaged communities continue to have very different life trajectories than other social groups. They are more likely to use contraception and participate in the labor force. Lower levels of schooling also appear to exacerbate the disadvantages of social identity. The pace of these changes varies sharply across states as well as regions of the country.Engaging in facial emotion mimicry during social interactions encourages empathy and functions as a catalyst for interpersonal bonding. Decreased reflexive mirroring of facial expressions has been observed in individuals with different non-psychotic disorders, relative to healthy controls. Given reports of interpersonal relationship difficulties experienced by those who engage in non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), it is of interest to explore facial emotion mimicry in individuals with a history of this behaviour (HNSSI). Among other things, this will enable us to better understand their emotion regulation and social interaction challenges. Surface facial electromyography (fEMG) was used to record the reflexive facial mimicry of 30 HNSSI and 30 controls while they passively observed a series of dynamic facial stimuli showing various facial expressions of emotion. Beginning with a neutral expression, the stimuli quickly morphed to one of 6 prototypic emotional expressions (anger, fear, surprise, disgust, happiness, or sadness). Mimicry was assessed by affixing surface electrodes to facial muscles known to exhibit a high degree of electrical activity in response to positive and negative emotions the corrugator supercilii and the zygomaticus major. HNSSI participants, relative to controls, exhibited significantly less electrical activity in the corrugator muscle in response to viewing angry stimuli, and significantly less of an expected relaxation in muscle activity in response to viewing happy stimuli. Mirroring these results, greater endorsement of social influence as a motivator for engaging in NSSI was associated with less mimicry, and greater endorsement of emotion regulation as a motivator was associated with greater incongruent muscle response when viewing happy faces. These findings lend support to the theory that social interaction difficulties in HNSSI might be related to implicit violations of expected social rules exhibited through facial mimicry nonconformity.Short term storage of extracellular vesicle (EV) solutions at +4°C is a common practice, but the stability of EVs during this procedure has not been fully understood yet. Using nanoparticle tracking analysis, we have shown that EVs isolated from the conditioned medium of HT-29 cells exhibit a pronounced concentration decrease when stored in PBS in ordinary polypropylene tubes within the range of (0.5-2.1) × 1010 particles/ml. EV losses reach 51±3% for 0.5 ml of EVs in Eppendorf 2 ml tube at 48 hours of storage at +4°C. Around 2/3 of the observed losses have been attributed to the adsorption of vesicles onto tube walls. This result shows that the lower part (up to at least 2 × 1010 particles/ml) of the practically relevant concentration range for purified EVs is prone to adsorption losses at +4°C. Glenohumeral (GH) joint reductions are frequently performed during tendon transfer surgery for brachial plexus birth injuries (BPBI); however, the effect of reduction method (none required, closed, surgical) has not been assessed. This study compared objective, functional, and patient-reported outcomes between children who underwent a tendon transfer and (1) did not require GH reduction, (2) required concomitant closed GH reduction, or (3) required concomitant surgical GH reduction.
Fifty-four children with BPBI who previously underwent teres major and/or latissimus dorsi transfer with or without concomitant GH reduction participated. Joint reduction method was classified as none required (n= 21), closed (n= 9), or surgical (n= 24). Motion capture was collected in a neutral position, abduction, external rotation, and internal rotation. Glenohumeral joint angles and displacements were calculated. Joint angular displacements represented the differences between the joint angles in each terminal position and lar between groups. The surgical-reduction group demonstrated lower BP-PRO-SF outcomes.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate a series of intra-articular distal radius fractures (DRFs) to determine whether patients without radiographic evidence of scapholunate (SL) ligament injury have a difference in outcomes in comparison with patients with radiographic evidence of SL ligament injury and no ligament repair or reconstruction. Our hypothesis is that there are no significant differences in outcomes between patients after treatment of their intra-articular DRF.
A retrospective analysis of patients from a single institution who sustained an intra-articular DRF from January 2006 through January 2019 with minimum 12-month (n= 192) and 24-month (n= 100) follow-up was performed. Patient demographic, clinical, and outcome variables were compared between SL angles less than 70° (cohort 1) and SL angles 70° or greater (cohort 2). Radiographic parameters were measured and recorded at 3 time points baseline in the contralateral wrist, following closed reduction but prior to surgical intervention, anrgo ligament repair or reconstruction following treatment of their intra-articular DRF.

Currently licensed oral live vaccines have shown low risk of associated adverse events in the general population. Noteworthy, postmarketing reports of severe gastroenteritis with persistent vaccine viral shedding in children with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) have led companies to include this inborn error of immunity as an additional contraindication. SCID is not usually screened in newborns from developing countries. Therefore, the administration of live attenuated vaccines represents the first contact of these patients with life-threatening pathogens. We describe a clinical case of an infant with SCID who suffered from persistent rotavirus symptomatic diarrhea after receiving the rotavirus oral vaccine and was found to be infected with the vaccine strain. This case attempts to contribute to the discussion of those diseases that need to be incorporated into a screening program since an early diagnosis permits clinicians to withhold live attenuated immunization.
This study aimed to investigate the experiences of parents who care for children diagnosed with leukaemia. This paper is focused solely on reporting the interview findings from participating mothers regarding the challenges of caring for children with leukaemia in the context of the COVID-19.
The study took place in a Jordanian hospital where a descriptive qualitative design approach was applied on one oncology floor and an oncology clinic. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with mothers of children aged 1-12 with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). Inductive thematic analysis approach was undertaken. Written consent was obtained from all participants.
Fifteen interviews were conducted with fifteen mothers. Four major themes reflect the different challenges parents and children face during the COVID-19 pandemic children refusing to wear masks, social isolation, family relationship and financial concerns.
The findings of the current study present important data for health care professionals to help them understand the challenges faced by parents and children with leukaemia, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nocardiosis is an uncommon opportunistic infection seen in immunocompromised patients or those with a dysfunctional immune system. Nocardia asteroides infection in patients with Pemphigus foliaceus (PF) has never been reported.
We report an interesting case of nocardiosis-characterized by pulmonary intra-cavitary infection, in a 54-year-old man with PF and diabetes mellitus. The man finally recovered from the infection.
This is the first case reporting pulmonary nocardiosis in a patient with PF. We recommend that physicians be aware of nocardiosis in patients with pemphigus as a possible cause of underlying infectious disease to avoid misdiagnoses and mismanagement.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common inflammatory disorder of the pancreas. Recent evidence has shown that metabolic syndrome is positively correlated with the severity of AP. However, only a few studies have revealed the relationship between metabolic syndrome and the occurrence of AP. We therefore elucidated the association between metabolic syndrome and the occurrence of AP.
A hospital-based case-control study was conducted. A total of 705 patients admitted to our hospital from January 2016 to December 2018 were included in the study. Subjects were divided into case and control groups according to their diagnosis (1) According to the revised Atlanta classification from 2012, patients diagnosed with AP were enrolled in the case group. (2) Patients without a history of AP or any disease related to metabolic syndrome were allocated into the control group. Controls were matched to cases individually by sex and age (control/case ratio = 1).
The incidence rate of metabolic syndrome in AP patients was 30.9%, which was more frequent than that in controls (13.2%) (OR 2.837; 95% CI 1.873-4.298, p < 0.001). In the multivariate regression analysis, a history of smoking or alcohol consumption and biliary stones were significantly associated with AP (OR 2.441; 95% CI 1.865-5.172, p < 0.001; OR 1.777; 95% CI 1.060-2.977, p = 0.029; OR 28.995; 95% CI 13.253-63.435, p < 0.001). In addition, the occurrence of AP was significantly associated with total cholesterol (TC) (OR 1.992; 95% CI 1.246-3.183, p = 0.004), triglyceride (TG) (OR 2.134; 95% CI 1.403-3.245, p < 0.001), hyperglycaemia (OR 2.261; 95% CI 1.367-3.742, p = 0.001), and apolipoprotein A (Apo A) (OR 0.270; 95% CI 0.163-0.447, p < 0.001).

CnLNs located in the extraperigastric area are included in the D2 LN station for gastric cancer. We speculate that CnLNs can be regarded as a predictor of survival.
Eligible advanced gastric cancer patients who underwent curative resection and D2 lymph node dissection between 2004 and 2012 at our institution were identified. The frequency of CnLN metastases and risk factors affecting DFS were examined. Survival differences were assessed by log-rank tests and Kaplan-Meier curves.
The study identified 1178 patients who underwent curative surgery or D2 or more extensive lymphadenectomy. A total of 342 patients had been proven to have CnLN metastasis. Larger tumor size (P < 0.001), more frequent lymphatic vessel invasionnd a predictor of survival in gastric cancer patients. Large sample, multicenter, randomized clinical trials are still needed in the future.
The role of platelets on the prognosis of patients with liver transplantation remains unclear. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the influence of preoperative platelet count on postoperative morbidity after liver transplantation.
Clinical data of the patients who received liver transplantation from January 2015 to September 2018 were evaluated.
Of the 329 patients included, the average age was 46.71 ± 0.55 years, and 243 were men (75.2%). The incidence of posttransplant portal vein complication was significantly higher in the high platelet count group (> 49.5 × 10
/L; n = 167) than in the low platelet count group (≤ 49.5 × 10
/L, n = 162, 12.6% vs. 1.9%). After multivariable regression analysis, high platelet count was independently associated with postoperative portal vein complication (odds ratio [OR] 8.821, 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.260 to 34.437). After the inverse probability of treatment weighting analysis, patients in the high platelet count group had significantly higher risk of portal vein complication (OR 9.210, 95%CI 1.907 to 44.498, p = 0.006) and early allograft dysfunction (OR 2.087, 95%CI 1.131 to 3.853, p = 0.019).

Alzheimer disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by impaired memory and cognitive judgment. It is the leading cause of dementia in the elderly, and its high morbidity and mortality have also brought a significant social burden. So far, there is no method can completely cure Alzheimer's dementia, but there are many non-drug treatments that have been praised by people, especially the cognitive behavioral therapy proposed in recent years. We did a network meta-analysis to identify both direct and indirect evidence in relevant studies. A systematic literature search will be performed in the Cochrane Library, PubMed, and EMBASE from inception to October 2020. We extracted the relevant information from these trials with a predefined data extraction sheet and assessed the risk of bias with the Cochrane risk of bias tvidence for cognitive behavioral intervention in AD patients. We aim to evaluate the efficiency of Raman spectroscopy (RS) in diagnosing suspected patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), manifested by diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy.
We will research widely the articles concerning the use of RS in ICC through authenticated database including PubMed/Medline, EMBASE, Web of Science, Ovid, Web of Knowledge, Cochrane Library, and CNKI between January 2012 and November 2020, retrieving at least 1500 spectra with strict criteria. This study will be carried out in accordance to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. We are going to summarize the test performance using random effects models.
Based on the pooled sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic accuracy, we intend to provide the relative diagnostic efficiency in ICC through RS.

Despite the availability of pharmacological intervention, patients with burn injuries experience pain during the treatment of wounds. Supplementary rehabilitation nursing intervention are required to enhance the wellbeing of patients sustaining injuries from burns. The present study aims to conduct a systematic exploration of the impact of rehabilitation nursing intervention on the wellbeing in patients sustaining burn injuries.
The electronic databases listed below will be searched systematically PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and WanFang database. All the databases will be searched from their inauguration to November 2020. There will be no language constraints. Independent undertaking by 2 authors will select studies, extract data from selected studies, and assess the quality of the included studies. COVID-19 has become a common threat to global human health and is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Some asymptomatic patients with early-stage lung cancer who have COVID-19 receive surgical treatment but develop severe pneumonia and other complications or even experience postoperative death, and they may have a worse prognosis compared with healthy individuals infected with COVID-19. However, there is no evidence that COVID-19 is a risk factor for lung cancer patients. We aim to evaluate the efficiency of Raman spectroscopy (RS) in diagnosing suspected patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), manifested by diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. We will research widely the articles concerning the use of RS in ICC through authenticated database including PubMed/Medline, EMBASE, Web of Science, Ovid, Web of Knowledge, Cochrane Library, and CNKI between January 2012 and November 2020, retrieving at least 1500 spectra with strict criteria. This study will be carried out in accordance to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. We are going to summarize the test performance using random effects models. Based on the pooled sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic accuracy, we intend to provide the relative diagnostic efficiency in ICC through RS. Through this systematic review and meta-analysis, we intend to provide the pooled sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy of RS in the diagnosis of suspected ICC. Other parameters like positive likelihood ratios (LR), negative LR, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and area under curve (AUC) of the summary receiver operating characteristics (SROC) curve will also be calculated and related figures will be drawn to help illustrate the efficacy of RS in the diagnosis of ICC. Despite the availability of pharmacological intervention, patients with burn injuries experience pain during the treatment of wounds. Supplementary rehabilitation nursing intervention are required to enhance the wellbeing of patients sustaining injuries from burns. The present study aims to conduct a systematic exploration of the impact of rehabilitation nursing intervention on the wellbeing in patients sustaining burn injuries. The electronic databases listed below will be searched systematically PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and WanFang database. All the databases will be searched from their inauguration to November 2020. There will be no language constraints. Independent undertaking by 2 authors will select studies, extract data from selected studies, and assess the quality of the included studies. All disagreements will be resolved through discussion, or by consulting a third independent author. This study will make use of RevMan 5.3 software to perform statistical analysis. The present protocol summarizes high-quality evidence to assess the impact of rehabilitation nursing intervention on the wellbeing of patients sustaining burn injuries. COVID-19 has become a common threat to global human health and is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Some asymptomatic patients with early-stage lung cancer who have COVID-19 receive surgical treatment but develop severe pneumonia and other complications or even experience postoperative death, and they may have a worse prognosis compared with healthy individuals infected with COVID-19. However, there is no evidence that COVID-19 is a risk factor for lung cancer patients. This systematic review aims to evaluate the incidence and prognosis of COVID-19 in lung cancer patients and provide evidence-based medical support for clinical treatment. We will search 6 medical databases to identify eligible studies published from the establishment of the database to the present.
