The spread of plasmid-mediated colistin resistance has posed a serious threat to public health owing to its effects on the emergence of pandrug-resistant bacteria. In this study, we investigated the prevalence and characteristics of mcr-1-positive Escherichia coli isolated from retail meat samples in Korea. In total, 1,205 E. coli strains were isolated from 3,234 retail meat samples in Korea. All E. coli strains were subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing and were examined for the presence of mcr-1 gene. All mcr-1-positive E. coli (n = 10, 0.8%) from retail meat were subjected to pulse-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and whole-genome sequencing (WGS). The transferability of mcr-1 gene was determined by conjugation assays. The mcr-1-positive strains exhibited diverse clonal types. Our mcr-1 genes were located in plasmids belonged to the IncI2 (n = 1) and IncX4 (n = 8) types, which were reported to be prevalent in Asia and worldwide, respectively. Most mcr-1 genes from mcr-1-positive strains (9/10) were transferable to the recipient strain and the transfer frequencies ranged from 2.4 × 10-3 to 9.8 × 10-6. Our data suggest that the specific types of plasmid may play an important role in spreading plasmid-mediated colistin resistance in Korea. The experiment included four tillage treatments conventional tillage with crop residue incorporation (CT), rotary tillage with crop residue incorporation (RT), no-tillage with crop residue retention (NT), and rotary tillage with crop residue removed as control (RTO). The results indicated that soil organic carbon, total nitrogen and NH4+-N contents were increased with CT, RT and NT treatments. Compared with RTO treatment, the copies number of nirK, nirS and nosZ in paddy soil with CT, RT and NT treatments were significantly increased. The principal coordinate analysis indicated that tillage management and crop residue returning management were the most and the second important factors for the change of denitrifying bacteria community, respectively. Meanwhile, this study indicated that activity and community composition of denitrifiers with CT, RT and NT treatments were increased, compared with RTO treatment. This result showed that nirK, nirS and nosZ-type denitrifiers communities in crop residue applied soil had higher species diversity compared with crop residue removed soil, and denitrifying bacteria community composition were dominated by Gammaproteobacteria, Deltaproteobacteria, and Betaproteobacteria. Therefore, it is a beneficial practice to increase soil PDR level, abundance and community composition of nitrogen-functional soil microorganism by combined application of tillage with crop residue management.Inhibitor K562 (IK) protein was first isolated from the culture medium of K562 cells, a leukemia cell line, and is an inhibitory regulator of interferon-γ-induced major histocompatibility complex class II expression. In this study, we designed a novel putative anti-inflammatory peptide derived from tIK protein based on homology modeling of the human interleukin-10 (hIL-10) structure, and investigated whether the peptide exerted inhibitory effects against proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-17 and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). The peptide contains key residues involved in binding hIL-10 to the IL-10 receptor, and exerted strong inhibitory effects on IL- 17 (43.8%) and TNF-α (50.7%). In addition, we used circular dichroism spectroscopy to confirm that the peptide is usually present in a random coil configuration in aqueous solution. In terms of toxicity, the peptide was found to be biologically safe. The mechanisms by which the short peptide derived from human tIK protein exerts inhibitory effects against IL-17 and TNF-α should be explored further. After 72 h of fermentation, a bacterial concentration of about 10.5 log CFU mL-1 in the broths containing the soybean drink + spirulina + LAB8014 (SD + S + LAB8014) or water + spirulina + LAB8014 (W + S + LAB8014) was found. Lactic acid concentration reached similar values (about 1.7 g L-1) in the two broths, while a different acetic acid concentration between SD + S + LAB8014 and W + S + LAB8014 broths was observed (7.7 and 4.1 g L-1, respectively). A. platensis biomass was shown to be a suitable substrate for LAB8014 growth. After fermentation, both broths contained a high protein content (>50%). In both broths, total phenolics, in vitro and in vivo antioxidant activity increased after fermentation (+35, +20, and +93% on average, respectively), while phycocyanin content decreased (-40% on average). Digestibility of W + S + LAB8014 broth statistically improved after fermentation. We used reads from PacBio and Illumina sequencing to obtain a de novo reference assembly of the mitochondrial genome of the C. auris clade I isolate B8441 from Pakistan.

Substance abuse has turned into a great problem in the worldwide. Considering the increased prevalence of addiction in this study, we tried to assess the role of social skills aspects in tendency to addiction among the adolescents.
This cross-sectional study was conducted on 600 high school students studying in the Isfahan City, Iran, from 2016 to 2018. The studied population was assessed using addiction tendency questionnaire and Matson's social skills questionnaire. Data were analyzed by Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software and independent
-test, Pearson and Spearman correlation, and linear regression test.
Social behavior (

These drugs exert therapeutic and toxic effects on tissues by different mechanisms. Colchicine is used to treat a number of rheumatologic diseases and heart problems. In addition, chloroquine is used to treat malaria and some inflammatory diseases. There is a small gap between the therapeutic and toxic doses of these drugs. Gastrointestinal symptoms are the initial causes of poisoning with these drugs and then widespread organ failure in later stages can lead to sudden cardiac death. We introduce a case of concurrent poisoning with both drugs, in which the patient presented with a headache, nausea, and vomiting several hours after suicide. On the 1st day, the patient's status was stable, but on the 2nd day, the patient suddenly becomes ill and died even though the patient received supportive therapy. Acute liver failure (ALF) is characterized by severe and sudden liver cell dysfunction. Baseline demographic, clinical, and biochemical factors associated with the survival of ALF patients were identified in a few selected Western studies, but very few studies have been done in India. The aim of the current study is to provide an overview of the factors associated with the survival of ALF patients and to suggest an optimum cutoff value for clinically significant parameters.
The patients suffering from ALF were reviewed in this study. The factors studied were age, sex, total serum bilirubin, serum creatinine, serum albumin, urea, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and recent hepatitis E virus infection.

Elevated serum urea and serum ALT levels at the time of admission were found to be significant predictors of mortality in patients suffering from ALF in our study. Substance abuse has turned into a great problem in the worldwide. Considering the increased prevalence of addiction in this study, we tried to assess the role of social skills aspects in tendency to addiction among the adolescents. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 600 high school students studying in the Isfahan City, Iran, from 2016 to 2018. The studied population was assessed using addiction tendency questionnaire and Matson's social skills questionnaire. Data were analyzed by Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software and independent -test, Pearson and Spearman correlation, and linear regression test. Social behavior ( = 0.002, = -0.124), high self-esteem ( < 0.001, = -0.381), and peer-communication ( < 0.001, = -0.361) were inversely associated with a tendency to addiction and were independent predictors of it ( < 0.05). Aggression was associated with increased tendency to the addiction ( = 0.01, = 0.103) but not a predictor. We found that appropriate social behaviors, inappropriate assertiveness, and functional communication were factors associated with less tendency to substance abuse in the adolescent. In addition, chloroquine is used to treat malaria and some inflammatory diseases. There is a small gap between the therapeutic and toxic doses of these drugs. Gastrointestinal symptoms are the initial causes of poisoning with these drugs and then widespread organ failure in later stages can lead to sudden cardiac death. To derive the impact of chip size reduction on optical efficiency in micro-LED array panels, blue InGaN/GaN LEDs, which consist of 21×7 arrays (60 ppi display) with different mesa sizes on sapphire substrates, are designed and fabricated in this study. Changing the mesa area of the chip is first proposed to investigate the luminous efficiency (cd/A) of the screen. The current efficiency with a peak wavelength of 450 nm reaches up to 14.29 cd/A for the biggest pixel 50µm×60µm and to 12.25 cd/A for the 15µm×25µm chip, delivering high-level efficiencies to the current LED research field. The mechanisms of size-dependent efficiency variation trends and efficiency droops of blue LEDs are investigated experimentally, confirming that the current efficiency is more efficient at high injection current density while exhibiting poorer performance at the low current density region for smaller chips. The peak efficiency corresponds to higher current density with a decrease in chip size according to the carrier recombination ABC model. Moreover, the characteristic curve of the spectrum and the changes in the yellow light band under different incident light conditions (i.e., 355 nm and 375 nm) are analyzed by photoluminescence.We propose a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) sensor based on graphene oxide (GO) composite film modification to simultaneously measure the multi-parameter sensing characteristics of humidity, temperature, and glucose concentration. The GO-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite film is used to measure the humidity-sensing characteristics of the sensor, and the glucose oxidase composite film is used to measure the sensing characteristics of the glucose concentration, respectively. Experiment results show that the sensitivities of the temperature of the GO-PVA coating structure are 0.037 nm/°C, 0.047 nm/°C, and 0.031 nm/°C; the sensitivities of humidity are 0.059 nm/%RH, 0.121 nm/%RH, and 0.047 nm/%RH; and the sensitivities of the glucose concentration of the GO-GOD coating structure are 0.028 nm/(g/L), 0.049 nm/(g/L), and 0.010 nm/(g/L) for three interference dips, respectively. The structure is simple to manufacture and can be used as a sensor for detecting multiple parameters. It can be widely used in biomedicine, environmental monitoring, and other fields.Different types of photonic crystal components have been modeled by approximate RLC circuits. The proposed lumped circuits exploit the analogy of photonic crystal elements and RLC circuits. They are either coupled to each other or inserted like lumped circuits to imitate wave propagation within the photonic devices. Different examples such as side-coupled waveguide-cavity systems, side-coupled cavity-cavity systems, and improved structures are investigated for evaluating the theory. It is shown that the proposed circuits are exact enough to be substituted into the complicated calculations of numerical methods. In addition, the presented practical and straightforward procedure can be employed for flexible and efficient design. The results are verified using the finite-difference time-domain numerical simulations and coupled-mode theory for various devices.In recent years, mobile phones with glass curved screens have become more and more widely used. The irregular shape of the curved screen and the light transmittance characteristic of the glass have brought great challenges to its automatic defect detection. Aiming at the defect detection of the glass cover of the curved screen, this paper designs a full-scale scanning system by combining motion and three-dimensional (3D) features. First, a scanning system is constructed, and a geometric error modeling method is proposed to improve the accuracy of the scanning system; second, based on the point cloud of the 3D glass cover obtained by the scanning system, a point cloud registration method is presented by integrating the motion and 3D features; finally, the laser tracker is further used to calibrate the scanning system to analyze the mechanical error. Experimental results show that the introduction of straightness error and perpendicularity error can effectively solve the mismatch and fault problems of point cloud registration, and improve the accuracy of the scanning system. A comparative analysis of the approximation results and experimentally obtained microreliefs was carried out.Using a Monte Carlo algorithm to simulate the scattering of sunlight in an atmosphere-ocean system, the degree of circular polarization of light in the ocean has been calculated at multiple depths and directions. In this system circularly polarized light is produced by the reflection of light from beneath the surface at an incident angle greater than the critical angle. We present the results of these simulations for different solar angles, wavelengths of light, and models that include the presence of aerosols in the atmosphere and hydrosols in the water.We report the demonstration of imaging of a single human hair with a terahertz quantum cascade laser (THz-QCL) source based on intracavity difference-frequency generation. A single human hair whose diameter was about 100 µm was detected using the THz-QCL source operating at 240 K, of which the THz beam had a linear polarization. The results show that the THz image of a human hair clearly depends on the polarization direction of the THz beam. The THz QCL sources that are capable of room temperature operation will be useful for detection of small foreign objects like human hairs.

Our results demonstrated that PET amyloid and tau status were differently affected by patient features, and CSF biomarker features provided most significant values associating PET findings. CSF Aβ42/40 was the most important factor affecting amyloid PET status, and negatively correlated with amyloid PET levels. CSF pTau could significantly influence both amyloid and tau PET status. Besides CSF pTau and Aβ42, APOEɛ4 allele status and Mini-Mental State Examination scores also could influence tau PET status, and significantly correlated with tau PET levels.
Our results support that tau pathology possibly affected by Aβ-independent factors, implicating the importance of tau pathology in AD pathogenesis.

Circular RNA (circRNA) is a class of non-coding RNA that is vital for regulating gene expression and biological functions. Mounting studies demonstrate that circRNA is crucial for human cancer development. However, the role of circ_0000039 in gastric cancer (GC) remains uncertain.
Normal human gastric tissues and GC tissue samples were collected, and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was employed to detect the expression levels of circ_0000039, miR-1292-5p, and DEK. GC cell lines with overexpression and low expression of circ_0000039 were constructed. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), scratch healing and Transwell experiments were used to assess the function of circ_0000039 on the proliferation, migration and invasion of GC cells. Bioinformatics analysis and dual-luciferase reporter assays were employed to detect the targeting relationship between circ_0000039 and miR-1292-5p.
Circ_0000039 expression was up-regulated in GC tissues and cell lines, and it was significantly related with poor differentiation of tumor tissues. In addition, circ_0000039 overexpression enhanced the proliferation, migration and invasion of GC cells, while circ_0000039 depletion inhibited these malignant biological behaviors. In terms of mechanism, it was found that circ_0000039 promoted the proliferation and progression of GC cells by adsorbing miR-1292-5p and up-regulating the expression of DEK.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive primary malignant brain tumor with a high mortality rate. Aberrant activation of signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT) signaling results in tumor pathogenesis and progression by regulating cell cycle, cell survival and immune response.
Therapeutic targets and prognostic biomarkers within the STAT family in GBM were explored using web applications and databases.
High levels of STAT1/3/5A/5B/6 and low levels of STAT4 were observed in GBM patients. GBM patients expressing high STAT1/2/3/5A/6 and low STAT4/5B levels had the worse overall survival. Among the STAT family, STAT4 and STAT6 were the most frequently mutated genes. A low to moderate correlation among members of the STAT family was observed. Additionally, the STATs were involved in activation or inhibition of cancer related pathways. Analysis of immune infiltrates showed STAT5A levels to be significantly correlated with abundance of immune cells and levels of immune gene biomarkers. Gene ontology (GO) functions and KEGG pathway analysis indicated that STAT5A is involved in immune response-regulating signaling pathway, neutrophil and lymphocyte mediated immunity, single-stranded DNA binding, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, NOD-like receptor signaling pathway, NF-kappa B signaling pathway and TNF signaling pathway. Moreover, several kinase and transcription factor targets of STAT5A in GBM were identified.
We report here therapeutic targets, prognostic biomarkers and regulation network of STAT family in GBM. These findings lay a foundation for further studies on the role of STAT family in therapy and prognosis of GBM. Further studies are required to verify our results.

Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) are critical regulators of tumor progression.
To determine how the lncRNA membrane associated guanylate kinase, WW and PDZ domain-containing 2 (MAG12) antisense RNA 3 (MAGI2-AS3) and the phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) gene function in regulating bladder cancer (Bca) progression.
Total RNA from 80 Bca tissues and 30 paired para-cancerous tissues from patients was sequentially extracted, quantified, purified, and reverse transcribed using RT-PCR. A library was constructed and sequenced. Four Bca cell lines and a normal urothelial cell line were transfected with lentiviral plasmids, and cell migration and invasion were assayed in vitro. An orthotopic mouse model of Bca was created for in vivo studies.
MAGI2-AS3 expression was significantly downregulated in Bca, compared with normal tissues, and negatively associated with tumor stage and a poor prognosis. MAGI2-AS3 and its sense RNA MAGI2 showed significant and positive correlation. The expression of MAGI2 and its downstream gene, PTEN, increased in Bca cells overexpressing MAGI2-AS3, and interference by MAGI2 expression reversed the migration and invasion inhibited by MAGI2-AS3 overexpression.

Our results demonstrated that PET amyloid and tau status were differently affected by patient features, and CSF biomarker features provided most significant values associating PET findings. CSF Aβ42/40 was the most important factor affecting amyloid PET status, and negatively correlated with amyloid PET levels. CSF pTau could significantly influence both amyloid and tau PET status. In recent years, studies have found that immunoglobulin superfamily CD47 is overexpressed widely across tumor types, and CD47 plays an important role in suppressing phagocytes activity through binding to the transmembrane protein SIRPα in phagocytic cells. Therefore, targeting CD47 may be a novel strategy for cancer immunotherapy, and a variety of anti-CD47 antibodies have appeared, such as humanized 5F9 antibody, B6H12 antibody, ZF1 antibody, and so on. Conclusions Fibroblasts from iPD patients showed mitochondrial impairment, resulting in the accumulation of organic and amino acids related to mitochondrial metabolism, especially when exposed to high glucose. This study shows that sensors can be tailored not only by using different materials but also by applying different working conditions, according to the requirements of certain applications. In 2016, Brazil started experiencing one of the most significant YF epidemics in its history, with lots of deaths being reported in regions that were previously considered free of the disease. Here, we reviewed the historical aspects of YF in Brazil, the epidemiology of the disease, the challenges that remain in Brazil's public health context, the main lessons learned from the recent outbreaks, and our perspective for facing future YF epidemics.The aim of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of different FSH doses and FSH coasting times before ovum pick-up (OPU) on follicular growth and oocyte competence in buffalo. Experiment 1 involved two different FSH treatments 40 mg FSH given three (FSH3) or six (FSH6) times, 2 days after dominant follicle removal were tested, with OPU carried out after 40-44 h of coasting. In experiment 2, OPU was carried out after FSH6 protocol followed by 28-32 h (C1), 40-44 h (C2), or 64-68 h (C3) of coasting time. Cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs) were classified, in vitro matured, fertilized, and cultured. The results demonstrated that FSH6 increased the total number of follicles, the number and percentages of medium and large follicles, the number and the proportion of good quality oocytes, and the number of grade 1,2 and fast-developing blastocysts compared to the control. C3 decreased the percentage of good quality oocyte and blastocyst rates compared to C1 and C2. A higher percentage of fast blastocysts and average number of grade 1,2 blastocysts was observed in C1 compared to C3, with intermediate values found in C2.

Distal radius fractures are among the most common fractures. Ultrasound is gaining importance in the treatment of and as a tool to diagnose distal radius fractures, guide regional anaesthesia and support reductions. Our aim was to demonstrate safety, feasibility and outcome in patients with a distal radius fractures undergoing ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia (UGRA) with ultrasound-guided reduction (UGR), as compared with procedural sedation for the reduction.
This retrospective cohort study was carried out in the emergency department of the University Hospital Basel (Switzerland) between February 2014 and October 2017. Adults with an isolated forearm fracture were eligible. The intervention group was treated with UGRA of the brachial plexus and subsequent ultrasound-assisted fracture reduction. Patients in the control group received usual care, which is blind fracture reduction with extension and immobilisation under procedural sedation.
71 patients were enrolled in the intervention group and 142cation. Effectiveness regarding the necessity of subsequent operation was comparable to usual care; in patients over 60 it may be lower with UGR.The microprocessor complex cleaves the primary transcript of microRNA (pri-miRNA) to initiate miRNA maturation. Microprocessor is known to consist of RNase III DROSHA and dsRNA-binding DGCR8. Here, we identify Enhancer of Rudimentary Homolog (ERH) as a new component of Microprocessor. Through a crystal structure and biochemical experiments, we reveal that ERH uses its hydrophobic groove to bind to a conserved region in the N-terminus of DGCR8, in a 22 stoichiometry. Knock-down of ERH or deletion of the DGCR8 N-terminus results in a reduced processing of suboptimal pri-miRNAs in polycistronic miRNA clusters. ERH increases the processing of suboptimal pri-miR-451 in a manner dependent on its neighboring pri-miR-144. Thus, the ERH dimer may mediate 'cluster assistance' in which Microprocessor is loaded onto a poor substrate with help from a high-affinity substrate in the same cluster. We also integrated the manually curated experimental evidence of the predicted interactions into the database. Furthermore, we provided a convenient link to the DAVID® web server to perform downstream functional pathway analysis and gene ontology annotation on the predicted target genes. We exchanged identified candidate residues by directed mutagenesis of the Medicago truncatula SEO1 gene, expressed the mutated genes in yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and studied the structural and functional phenotypes of the forisome-like bodies that formed in the transgenic cells. The condylar center was displaced by 1.12 ± 0.66 mm at T1 compared with it at T0. The amount of displaced condylar center negatively correlated with the fossa depth (r = -0.424, p = 0.001). The displacement of the condylar center between T0 and T2 was 0.85 ± 0.51 mm. The amount of condylar center displacement between T0 and T1 showed a positive correlation with it between T0 and T2 (r = 0.481, p less then 0.001). The study was conducted on 388 testicular tumors (on 1969 total male tumors) diagnosed in 355 dogs from 2014 to 2018. The median incidence was 35 cases/100,000 dogs, with a proportion equal to 19,7 % of all tumors. The incidence on neutered male dogs was 352/100,000. Most tumors were ICTs (50 %), with fewer SEMs and SCTs (29 % and 17 %, respectively). Only 3 % of tumors were mixed germ cell-sex cord-stromal tumors (****SCST). Ten percent of cases had mulproportion of different tumor types in specific territories, contributing also to the supervision of its inhabitants' health. Our analysis was designed to evaluate performance of these individual tests in infected or infectious mixed aged cows across the prevalence of infection typically encountered on NZ dairy farms and calculate test accuracy when used as a screening test of serological ELISAs for four separate antigens read in parallel followed by a confirmatory quantitative f-qPCR test. Data from a cross-sectional study of 20 moderate prevalence herds was combined with existing data from 2 low and 20 high prevalence herds forming a dataset of 3845 paired serum and fecal samples. Incidence of clinical Johne's disease (JD) was used to classify herds into three prevalence categories. High (≥ 3% annual clinical JD for the last three years), moderate (1 × 103 genomes/mL). Fixed Bayesian latent class models at both f-qPCR cut-points, accounted for for disease in a test negative animal. In low prevalence herds (0.01(95 %PI = 0.00-0.04)) the equivalent figures were 0.84 (95 %PI = 0.08-0.92) and 0.00 (95 %PI = 0.00-0.02). The aim of this study was to assess the clinical utility of NLR as a prognostic marker of deep neck space infections secondary to odontogenic infection and to analyse its correlation with admission CRP and LOS. Data from January 2019 to December 2019 were retrospectively examined for patients admitted with a deep neck space infection of odontogenic cause. Data on admission CRP, NLR, sex, age, site of infection, LOS, treatment, ICU admission, and presence of comorbidities were analysed. A total of 161 patients were included, 89 (52.7%) of whom were male, and 72 (42.6%) female. Mean (SD) age was 38.4 (16.8) years (range 5-86 years). Mean (SD) admission CRP and NLR were 105.9 (93.1) mg/L and 7.5 (7.7). Mean (SD) LOS was 2.9 (3.2) days (range 0.5-35 days). Both admission CRP (p≤0.01) and admission NLR (p≤0.01). were significantly associated with LOS. Receiver operating characteristics analysis for LOS≥2 days produced an area under the curve for CRP and NLR of 0.666 and 0.639. The optimum cut-off value of NLR for LOS≥2 days was 4.65. In conclusion, NLR can be used as a prognostic marker for patients admitted with deep neck space infection secondary to odontogenic infection. Current literature provides only a limited amount of evidence in studies addressing differences in quality of life for specific therapeutic measures in microvascular reconstruction. The validated University of Washington quality of life questionnaire version 4 (UW-QoL v4), a distress thermometer, and two questions addressing donor-site morbidity were sent to 134 patients at a tertiary care centre. All participants had undergone a type of microvascular reconstructive surgery of the head and neck. They were distributed into three groups according to the defect and type of treatment defects reconstructed by soft-tissue microvascular tissue transfer, defects involving the hard tissue and treated by alloplastic reconstruction, and hard tissue defects receiving microvascular osseous reconstruction. A total of 82 patients completed the questionnaire in full and returned it.
