    Based on data from the 2015 ESPAD study, differences in the relationship between gaming and substance use across 35 countries were analysed using multi-level logistic regression, using substance use as an individual level predictor, economic wealth as a country-level predictor and a combined problem gaming indicator as the outcome.

    Multi-level logistic regressions revealed significant correlations between individual substance use and gaming problems, which varied across countries and were moderated by economic wealth. Students who used alcohol, tobacco or cannabis and who lived in high-income countries had a smaller risk of scoring positively on a combined problem gaming indicator than students who used alcohol, tobacco or cannabis and who lived in less prosperous countries.

    The aim of the study is to adapt the Maladaptive Daydreaming Scale (MDS-16) to Hungarian, assess its psychometric properties, and establish its cut-off score. In addition, the relationship between maladaptive daydreaming and adverse childhood experiences was examined.

    Study participants were recruited online via snowball sampling. Based on three inclusion criteria (self-identified MDer status; control over daydreaming; frequency of daydreaming) 160 out of 494 respondents were included in the study.

    Our results confirm both the high reliability and convergent validity of the questionnaire. The cut-off score of 60 percentiles can reliably discriminate between excessive and normal daydreamers. The general applicability of the MDS-16-HU was tested and confirmed by the use of the Adverse Childhood Experience Questionnaire (ACE-10), a short, self-report questionnaire. Its results showed that certain types of childhood adversities increase the likelihood of maladaptive daydreaming.

Meanwhile, EAF triggered the mRNA expression of interleukin-10 (IL-10) and elicited the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), as well as the expression of its main target gene, heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) (p less then 0.05).   • Transgender (trans) persons are sexually assaulted at high rates and often encounter barriers to equitable services and supports. The receipt of timely and appropriate postassault care, provided increasingly by specialized forensic nurses around the world, is critical in ameliorating the harms that accompany sexual assault. In order to adequately respond to the acute health care needs of trans clients and attend to longer term psychosocial difficulties that some experience, forensic nurses not only require specialized training but must also cultivate collaborative relationships with trans-positive health and social services in their communities. To meet this need, we describe our strategy to advance trans-affirming practice in the sexual assault context. We outline the design and evaluation of a trans-affirming care curriculum for forensic nurses. We also discuss the planning, formation, and maturation of an intersectoral network through which to disseminate our curriculum, foster collaboration, and promote trans-affirming practice across health care and social services in Ontario, Canada. Our approach to advancing trans-affirming practice holds the potential to address systemic barriers experienced by trans survivors and transform the response to sexual assault across other sectors and jurisdictions.Atrial fibrillation (Afib) is the most common abnormal heart rhythm in adults and has become a significant public health concern affecting 2% to 3% of the population in Europe and North America. Left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombi is the source of 90% of left-sided cardiac thrombi in patients with Afib, which can cause stroke and other systemic vascular events. Right atrial appendage (RAA) thrombi formation in Afib is **** less common but complications include pulmonary embolism or paradoxical migration across patent foramen ovale with risk of systemic embolization. The prevalence and subsequent clinical complications of RAA thrombi formation in Afib patients is not well understood. Management of RAA thrombi should be similar to that of LAA thrombi which includes delaying cardioversion and anticoagulating with warfarin therapy to achieve international normalized ratio of 2 to 3.Following pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI), post-concussion symptoms (PCS) and post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) occur commonly; however, it is unknown to what degree they overlap. The study examined PCS and PTSS persisting 7 weeks after injury in children and adolescents ages 8-15 years with TBI (n = 89) or extracranial injury (EI; n = 40) after vehicle collisions. TBI was divided into mild, complicated-mild/moderate, and severe groups. Parents retrospectively rated children's pre-injury symptoms and behavior problems, and children completed self-report measures after injury. PCS and PTSS total scores were significantly correlated in TBI and EI groups, respectively, for child (rs = 0.75; rs = 0.44), and adolescent (rs = 0.61; rs = 0.67) cohorts. Generalized linear models examined whether injury type and severity, age, sex, and pre-injury symptom ratings predicted PCS and PTSS total scores and factor scores. Specific PCS and PTSS factor scores were elevated in different TBI severity groups, with most frequent problems following mild or severe TBI. PCS did not differ by age; however, girls had more emotional symptoms than boys. Only PTSS were predicted by pre-injury externalizing behavior. Significant age by sex interactions indicated that adolescent girls had more total, avoidance, and hyperarousal PTSS symptoms than younger girls or all boys. PCS and PTSS significantly overlapped in both TBI and EI groups, highlighting shared persistent symptoms after injury. Shared vulnerability factors included female sex, milder TBI, and poorer pre-injury adjustment. Older age was a unique vulnerability factor for PTSS. Using a myosin II inhibitor, blebbistatin, we showed that the intracellular tension via contraction of actin fibers contributed to the cellular alignment under the influence of isometric matrix condition along the uniaxially-fixed mechanical boundary condition. Furthermore, the cells actively migrated inside the collagen matrix and promoted the expression of osteoblast and osteocyte genes with their orientations aligned along the uniaxially-fixed boundary condition. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between low- and the high-TMB groups were identified and taken as nodes for the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network construction. Gene oncology (GO) enrichment analysis and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) were used to investigate the potential molecular mechanism. Then, we identified the factors affecting the prognosis of LUSC through cox analysis, and developed a risk score signature. Kaplan-Meier method was conducted to analyze the difference in survival between the high- and low-risk groups. We constructed a nomogram based on the risk score model and clinical characteristics to predict the overall survival of patients with LUSC. Finally, the signature and nomogram were further validated by using the gene expression data downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. 30 DEGs between high- and low-TMB groups were identified. PPI analysis identified CD22, TLR10, PIGR and SELE as the hub genes. Cox analysis indicated that FAM107A, IGLL1, SELE and T stage were independent prognostic factors of LUSC. Low-risk scores group lived longer than that of patients with high-risk scores in LUSC. Finally, we built a nomogram that integrated the clinical characteristics (TMN stage, age, gender) with the three-gene signature to predict the survival probability of LUSC patients. Further verification in the GEO dataset. TMB might contribute to the pathogenesis of LUSC.   • Nitrogen (N) use efficiency in beef cattle is low (10-20%), resulting in large amounts of N excreted into the environment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of chitosan inclusion and dietary crude protein (CP) level on nutrient intake and digestibility, ruminal fermentation, and N excretion in beef heifers. Eight Belgian Blue × Holstein Friesian cross beef heifers (752 ± 52 kg BW) were used in a 4 × 4 Latin square with a 2 × 2 factorial design. Factors were dietary CP concentration-high CP, 16% (HP) or low CP, 12% (LP)-and chitosan inclusion-0 or 10 g kg-1 dry matter (DM) offered at 5050 forage concentrate ratio on a dry matter (DM) basis. Apparent total tract digestibility of DM, organic matter (OM), and CP were reduced (p less then 0.001) with chitosan inclusion, whereas offering the HP diets increased apparent total tract digestibility of CP (p less then 0.001). Offering the HP diets increased urinary N excretion (p less then 0.001), while chitosan inclusion increased N excretion in faeces (p less then 0.05). Ruminal pH was increased with chitosan inclusion (p less then 0.01). There was a CP × chitosan interaction for rumen ammonia (NH3) concentrations (p less then 0.05). Including chitosan in the HP diets increased ruminal NH3 concentration while having no effect on the LP diets. The PEI/PVC-CF prepared through the optimal conditions was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analyses. Several batch adsorption and desorption experiments were carried out to evaluate the sorption performance and reusability of PEI/PVC-CF for RY2. As a result, the adsorption of RY2 by PEI/PVC-CF was most effective at pH 2.0. A pseudo-second-order model fit better with the kinetics adsorption data. The adsorption isotherm process was described well by the Langmuir model, and the maximum dye uptake was predicted to be 820.6 mg/g at pH 2.0 and 25 °C. Thermodynamic analysis showed that the adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic. In addition, 1.0 M NaHCO3 was an efficient eluent for the regeneration of RY2-loaded PEI/PVC-CF. Participants were dichotomised into two groups using a previously validated score (fatigued n = 51 and non-fatigued n = 36). The participant's perception of sleep was measured using the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). FACIT-F score was correlated with wake after sleep onset (r = -0.28; p = 0.010), sleep efficiency (r = 0.26; p = 0.016), sleep onset latency (r = -0.31; p = 0.044) and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) score (r = -0.56; p less then 0.001). The relative amplitude of the rest-activity cycles was lower in the fatigued vs. the non-fatigued group (p = 0.017; d = 0.58).   • Plant-pollinator mutualistic networks show non-random structural properties that promote species coexistence. However, these networks show high variability in the interacting species and their connections. Mismatch between plant and pollinator attributes can prevent interactions, while trait matching can enable exclusive access, promoting pollinators' niche partitioning and, ultimately, modularity. Thus, plants belonging to specialized modules should integrate their floral traits to optimize the pollination function. Herein, we aimed to analyze the biological processes involved in the structuring of plant-hummingbird networks by linking network morphological constraints, specialization, modularity and phenotypic floral integration.

    We investigated the understory plant-hummingbird network of two adjacent habitats in the Lacandona rainforest of Mexico, one characterized by lowland rainforest and the other by savanna-like vegetation. We performed monthly censuses to record plant-hummingbird interactions for hummingbird systems while morphological specialization plays a minor role in the phenotypic floral integration. The broad variety of corolla and bill shapes promoted niche partitioning, resulting in the modular organization of the assemblage according to morphological specialization. However, more research adding larger datasets of both the number of modules and pollination networks for a wider region is needed to conclude whether phenotypic floral integration increases with morphological specialization in plant-hummingbird systems.The "mid-Cretaceous" (~125-80 Ma) was punctuated by major plate-tectonic upheavals resulting in widespread volcanism, mountain-building, eustatic sea-level changes, and climatic shifts that together had a profound impact on terrestrial biotic assemblages. We assessed reef health indicators from 2011 to 2016. Overall, our results show increases in total fish biomass, in both commercial and herbivorous fishes. However, there is no information available on the role of the SnRK gene family in Hedychium coronarium. H. coronarium is an important crop widely cultivated as an ornamental plant, herb, spice, or condiment. In this study, 60 HcSnRK genes were identified from the H. coronarium genomic and transcriptome data. Phylogenetic and gene structure analysis showed that the HcSnRK genes were divided into three groups (HcSnRK1, HcSnRK2 and HcSnRK3) and among them HcSnRK3 subfamily was further subdivided into two clades according to the number of introns. Chromosome localization analysis showed that HcSnRK genes were unevenly mapped onto all chromosomes, and the Ka/Ks ratio of 24 paralogues includes four tandems and 20 segmental duplications indicated that the HcSnRK gene family underwent a purifying selection. Cis-regulatory elements analysis suggested that the HcSnRK genes respond to multiple hormones and other stresses. The responsiveness of HcSnRK genes to several hormones was analyzed by quantitative real-time PCR. Based on the different transcriptome data, two candidates HcSnRK genes (HcSnRK2.2 and HcSnRK2.9) were screened out for further characterization . The subcellular localization experiment revealed that both genes were located in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Moreover, virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) of HcSnRK2.2 and HcSnRK2.9 significantly reduced the floral volatile contents by suppressing the expression of terpene synthase genes (HcTPS1, HcTPS3, and HcTPS5), indicating that HcSnRK2.2 and HcSnRK2.9 genes play an important role in the regulatory mechanism of floral aroma. These results will provide novel insights into the functional dissection of H. coronarium SnRK gene family.
    Plant-pollinator mutualistic networks show non-random structural properties that promote species coexistence. However, these networks show high variability in the interacting species and their connections. Mismatch between plant and pollinator attributes can prevent interactions, while trait matching can enable exclusive access, promoting pollinators' niche partitioning and, ultimately, modularity. Thus, plants belonging to specialized modules should integrate their floral traits to optimize the pollination function. Herein, we aimed to analyze the biological processes involved in the structuring of plant-hummingbird networks by linking network morphological constraints, specialization, modularity and phenotypic floral integration. We investigated the understory plant-hummingbird network of two adjacent habitats in the Lacandona rainforest of Mexico, one characterized by lowland rainforest and the other by savanna-like vegetation. We performed monthly censuses to record plant-hummingbird interactions for hummingbird systems while morphological specialization plays a minor role in the phenotypic floral integration. The broad variety of corolla and bill shapes promoted niche partitioning, resulting in the modular organization of the assemblage according to morphological specialization. However, more research adding larger datasets of both the number of modules and pollination networks for a wider region is needed to conclude whether phenotypic floral integration increases with morphological specialization in plant-hummingbird systems.The "mid-Cretaceous" (~125-80 Ma) was punctuated by major plate-tectonic upheavals resulting in widespread volcanism, mountain-building, eustatic sea-level changes, and climatic shifts that together had a profound impact on terrestrial biotic assemblages.   • Background and purpose Previous studies have demonstrated that Net Water Uptake (NWU) is associated with the development of malignant edema (ME). The current study aimed to investigate whether NWU calculated in standardized and blindly outlined regions of the middle cerebral artery can predict the development of ME. Methods We retrospectively included 119 patients suffering from large hemispheric infarction within onset of 24 h. The region of the middle cerebral artery territory was blindly outlined in a standard manner to calculate NWU. Patients were divided into two groups according to the occurrence of ME, which is defined as space-occupying infarct requiring decompressive craniotomy or death due to cerebral hernia in 7 days from onset. The clinical characteristics were analyzed, and the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curve) was used to assess the predictive ability of NWU and other factors for ME. Results Multivariable analysis showed that NWU was an independent predictor of ME (OR 1.168, 95% CI 1.041-1.310). According to the ROC curve, NWU≥8.127% identified ME with good predictive power (AUC 0.734, sensitivity 0.656, specificity 0.862). Conclusions NWU calculated in standardized and blindly outlined regions of the middle cerebral artery territory is also a good predictor for the development of ME in patients with large hemispheric infarction.Background The clinical spectrum of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), due to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, may be quite wide, including neurological symptoms. Among them, para-infectious or post-infectious neurological syndromes (PINS), caused by an inflammatory response against the central and/or peripheral nervous system, have been reported. The aim of this paper is to illustrate the functional and neurophysiological recovery in a series of subjects with COVID-19-related PINS who underwent intensive neurorehabilitation. Materials and Methods Five patients with PINS associated with COVID-19 were evaluated at baseline and followed up for 6 months. Three of them had polyradiculoneuropathy and two patients had myelitis. The onset of the neurological syndromes was temporally associated with the SARS-CoV-2 infection. After completing the acute neurological treatments in the intensive care unit, patients underwent a personalized multidisciplinary rehabilitation program.ial functional improvement in both subjects. Discussion and Conclusions This is the first study to describe clinical and electrophysiological aspects along with medium-term outcome in patients with COVID-19-related neurological manifestations who underwent an intensive rehabilitation program. We systematically review evidence for use of KDT in children with SRSE and present a single UK tertiary centre's experience. Thirty one articles were included, of which 24 were "medium" or "low" quality. One hundred and forty seven children with SRSE started KDT, of which 141 (96%) achieved ketosis. KDT was started mean 5.3 days (range 1-420) after status epilepticus (SE) started. SRSE resolved in 85/141 (60%) children after mean 6.3 days (range 0-19) post SE onset, but it is unclear whether further treatments were initiated post-KDT. 13/141 (9%) children died. Response to KDT was more likely when initiated earlier (p = 0.03) and in females (p = 0.01). Adverse side effects were reported in 48/141 (34%), mostly gastrointestinal; potentially serious adverse effects occurred in ≤4%. Eeatments started post-KDT and the variable length of time post-KDT onset when SRSE cessation occurs. Given that serious adverse side effects seem rare and response rates are (cautiously) favorable, KDT should be considered as an early treatment option in this group.There is a complex interrelation between epilepsy and cardiac pathology, with both acute and long-term effects of seizures on the regulation of the cardiac rhythm and on the heart functioning. Here, we present data on nicotinic receptor binding, as determined by 125I-epibatidine receptor autoradiography, in the brainstems of infants dying of SIDS and of other known causes of death collected from the Safe Passage Study, a prospective, multicenter study with clinical sites in Cape Town, South Africa and 5 United States sites, including 2 American Indian Reservations. We examined 15 pons and medulla regions related to cardiovascular control and arousal in infants dying of SIDS (n = 12) and infants dying from known causes (n = 20, 10 pre-discharge from time of birth, 10 post-discharge). Overall, there was a developmental decrease in 125I-epibatidine binding with increasing postconceptional age in 5 medullary sites [raphe obscurus, gigantocellularis, paragigantocellularis, centralis, and dorsal accessory olive (p = 0.0002-0.03)], three of which are nuclei containing serotonin cells.

  • This paper determined the predefining factors of loan repayment behavior based on psychological and behavioral economics theories. The purpose of this research is to identify whether an individual's credit risk can be predicted based on psychometric tests measuring areas of psychological factors such as effective economic decision-making, self-control, conscientiousness, selflessness and a giving attitude, neuroticism, and attitude toward money. In addition, we compared the psychological indicators to the financial indicators, and different age and gender groups, to assess whether the former can predict loan default prospects. This research covered the psychometric test results, financial information, and loan default information of 1118 borrowers from loan-issuing applications on mobile phones. We validated the questionnaire using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and achieved an overall Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient greater than 0.90 (α = 0.937). We applied the empirical data to construct prediction models using logistic regression. Logistic regression was employed to estimate the parameters of a logistic model. The outcome indicates that positive results from the psychometric testing of effective financial decision-making, self-control, conscientiousness, selflessness and a giving attitude, and attitude toward money enable individuals' debt access possibilities. On the other hand, one of the variables-neuroticism-was determined to be insignificant. Finally, the model only used psychological variables proven to have significant default predictability, and psychological variables and psychometric credit scoring offer the best prediction capacities.Peripheral intravenous catheters (PVCs) are common treatment modalities for pediatric patients, and may cause infection, infiltration, occlusion, and phlebitis. The experimental group received CIPIR and the control group received usual care with routine PVC replacement every three days. The insert sites of PVC were assessed every day until the signs of infiltration, occlusion, or phlebitis were presented. Patients in the experimental group had significantly longer PVC indwelling times compared to those in the control group (t = -18.447, p less then 0.001). No significant differences were noted between groups in infiltration (χ2 = 2.193, p = 0.139), occlusion (χ2 = 0.498, p = 0.481), or phlebitis (χ2 = 3.865, p = 0.050). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a clinically indicated peripheral intravenous replacement (CIPIR) on PVC indwelling time and complication rates in pediatric patients. This study used a randomized, pre- and post-repeated measures design. A total of 283 participants were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 140) and a control group (n = 143). The experimental group received CIPIR and the control group received usual care with routine PVC replacement every three days. The insert sites of PVC were assessed every day until the signs of infiltration, occlusion, or phlebitis were presented. Patients in the experimental group had significantly longer PVC indwelling times compared to those in the control group (t = -18.447, p less then 0.001). No significant differences were noted between groups in infiltration (χ2 = 2.193, p = 0.139), occlusion (χ2 = 0.498, p = 0.481), or phlebitis (χ2 = 3.865, p = 0.050).   • Youth program leaders may experience considerable stress when they encounter emotionally demanding situations in their work. This stress can negatively affect their well-being or interfere with their ability to provide meaningful experiences for youth. Using Outward Bound (OB) youth expedition courses as a context, this study examined how co-instructors provided emotional support to instructors during stressful situations. Qualitative analysis of 31 OB instructor interviews showed co-instructors used three strategies allowing instructors to momentarily exit the situation, validating instructors' emotions, and reframing negative situations. In addition, certain relationship factors facilitated the provision of support building holistic relationships, establishing open communication patterns, and conveying commitment. The findings suggest that these factors increased instructors' perception of support availability, which facilitated them receiving support. This study makes a strong case for the value of co-worker relationships as a source of support for individuals in occupations where they experience emotionally stressful work situations.Programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) plays a significant role in colorectal tumorigenesis through induction of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and suppression of antitumor immunity. We evaluated patients with surgery at our clinic, comparing epidemiological, clinical, radiological, and pathological characteristics of medulloblastoma and ependymoma to identify factors that might assist preoperative diagnosis, help to develop treatment algorithms, and have prognostic value after surgery. Pediatric patients from 0 to 16 and young adults from 16 to 29 years of age with surgery for pathologically confirmed ependymomas or medulloblastomas between January 2014 and January 2020 were eligible. The study included 19 patients, seven with ependymoma (37%) and 12 with medulloblastoma (63.2%). The ependymoma patients were 5.29 ± 5.85 years of age, the medulloblastoma patients were 11.58 ± 8.17 years of age, and 16 patients (84%) were children.Fifteen patients (79%) presented with signs of increased intracranial pressure and four (21%) presented with cerebellar findings. MRI found that 74% (14) of the PSTs were located in the midline, including six of the seven ependymomas (86%) and eight of the 12 medulloblastomas (67%). A biochemical analysis of key areas in the function of specific domains in the pigment epithelium as described in the accompanying manuscript should help to better disclose the real morpho-functional deficit, which takes place in AMD.Posterior fossa tumors (PFTs) include medulloblastomas, atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors, pilocytic astrocytomas, ependymomas, and brainstem gliomas. We evaluated patients with surgery at our clinic, comparing epidemiological, clinical, radiological, and pathological characteristics of medulloblastoma and ependymoma to identify factors that might assist preoperative diagnosis, help to develop treatment algorithms, and have prognostic value after surgery. Pediatric patients from 0 to 16 and young adults from 16 to 29 years of age with surgery for pathologically confirmed ependymomas or medulloblastomas between January 2014 and January 2020 were eligible. The study included 19 patients, seven with ependymoma (37%) and 12 with medulloblastoma (63.2%). The ependymoma patients were 5.29 ± 5.85 years of age, the medulloblastoma patients were 11.58 ± 8.17 years of age, and 16 patients (84%) were children.Fifteen patients (79%) presented with signs of increased intracranial pressure and four (21%) presented with cerebellar findings. MRI found that 74% (14) of the PSTs were located in the midline, including six of the seven ependymomas (86%) and eight of the 12 medulloblastomas (67%). Enhancement was significantly greater in medulloblastomas compared with ependymomas (p = 0.022). In according to pathology results; synaptophysin, NSE, chromogranin and 50% GFAP positivity were observed in medulloblastoma. Ependymomas were S100 (43%) and vimentin (29%) positive. Ependymoma patients were younger than medulloblastoma patients and more were female. There were no significant differences in the clinical findings, but ependymomas were larger and had greater rates of enhancement and spinal metastasis compared with medulloblastomas.
