In this paper, we propose an energy efficient link level routing algorithm that provides end-to-end reliability into multi-hop wireless sensor networks with a linear structure. The algorithm uses implicit acknowledgement to provide reliability and connectivity with energy efficiency, low latency, and fault tolerance in linear wireless sensor networks. The proposal is validated through tests with real hardware. The energy consumption and the delay are also mathematically modeled and analyzed. Subjects consisted of 45 primipara postpartum mothers divided into three groups, each group consisting of 15 mothers. All interventions were carried out once a day for three days daily with a duration of 30min every morning at 09.00-09.15. Massage is carried out along the vertebrae until the 5th and 6th costal bone; then acupressure is performed at the LU point 1-rib 2, point CV 17, and point SI 1. RESULTS All groups given complementary therapy showed a significant increase in the oxytocin hormone. However, the highest increase was in the combination of **** massage and acupressure. RESULTS There were significant mean differences between normal, severe preeclampsia and severe preeclampsia with complications. The lowest serum levels of l-arginine were severe preeclampsia with complications (28.33ng/mL), then severe preeclampsia group (34.66ng/mL), and the highest was normal pregnant woman (60.91ng/mL). CONCLUSION Severe preeclampsia with complications had the lowest l-arginine level. Role l-arginine level should be considered in the prevention and treatment of severe preeclampsia. METHOD This study used a prospective cohort study design. The total sampling was 87 people. The samples were pregnant women the second trimester and the third trimester. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and the Spearman test. Pregnant women who were respondents were monitored until birth; then, the examination of the baby's weight and placental weight after the baby was born using a scale was carried out. RESULTS The result of this study shows that there is no significant correlation between levels of vitamin B12 and insulin resistance (ρ=0.864, p>0.05), there is no significant correlation between vitamin B12 and infant weight (p=0.107, p>0.05), there is no significant correlation between vitamin B12 and placental weight (ρ=0.107, p>0.05). There is no significant correlation between insulin resistance and infant weight (ρ=0.845, p>0.05), and there is no significant correlation between insulin resistance and placental weight (ρ=0.845, p>0.05). METHODS The study was conducted in the working area of the Jumpandang Baru Health Center. The breast milk-experimental method uses a pilot study approach. The sample collection formula is a feeder experiment with a purposive sampling technique following the predetermined inclusion criteria obtained by a sample of 15 breastfeeding mothers. RESULTS There was a difference in the average expenditure of breast milk after being pumped for 15min using a portable double pumping Arduino Nano microcontroller with a value of ρ=0.028, ρ less then α=0.05, the right breast produced more milk with an average value of 68.0ml, while for the left breast the average value is 55.0ml. CONCLUSION Our result confirmed that portable double pumping Arduino Nano microcontroller can be used as a breast milk tool for working mothers.

However, a system of comprehensive knowledge about what precursors mean within the context of construction safety is still lacking. This study aims to capture the nature of precursors in the construction industry and explore the process of a precursor event evolving into a construction accident to fill this gap. Based on 135 construction accident reports in China, this study adopts grounded theory to identify different types of accident precursors and explore their interactions with the development of the accident. An indicator system of precursors for construction accidents was developed, which included two major categories of precursors behavioral factors and physical factors and five minor categories of precursors individual behavior factors, organizational driving factors, objective physical factors, construction environmental factors, mechanical equipment factors. In addition, a precursor management strategy that includes the three stages of identification, response and effectiveness testing was established. The results of the study reveal the correlations between precursors and construction accidents, which can promote construction professionals' better understanding about precursors and improve their capabilities of managing precursors in practice.Endothelial cells (ECs) lining the blood vessels are important players in many biological phenomena but are crucial in hypoxia-dependent diseases where their deregulation contributes to pathology. We focus on the relationship between functions of ECs and their organo-specificity but also point to how the microenvironment, mainly hypoxia, shapes their activity. Following 48 h of culture, the scaffolds and layer frames were unmounted from their support frames, stacked, with keratinocytes uppermost, and securely held in place by upper and lower support frames to instantly form a multilayered "dermis" and a nascent epidermis. The stack was cultured for a further 5 days during which time the cells proliferated and then adhered to form, in association with the spun fibers, a mechanically coherent tissue. Fibroblasts preferentially elongated in the dominant fiber direction and a two-dimensional weave of alternating fiber and cell alignments could be constructed by selected placement of the layer frames during stacking. Histology of the 7-day tissue stacks showed the organized layers of fibroblasts and keratinocytes immuno-positive for keratin. Electron microscopy showed attachment of fibroblasts to the lactide/glycolide fibers and small-diameter collagen fibers in the extracellular space. This novel approach could be used to engineer a range of tissues for grafting where rapid construction of tissues with aligned or woven layers would be beneficial.

However, a system of comprehensive knowledge about what precursors mean within the context of construction safety is still lacking. This study aims to capture the nature of precursors in the construction industry and explore the process of a precursor event evolving into a construction accident to fill this gap. Based on 135 construction accident reports in China, this study adopts grounded theory to identify different types of accident precursors and explore their interactions with the development of the accident. An indicator system of precursors for construction accidents was developed, which included two major categories of precursors behavioral factors and physical factors and five minor categories of precursors individual behavior factors, organizational driving factors, objective physical factors, construction environmental factors, mechanical equipment factors. In addition, a precursor management strategy that includes the three stages of identification, response and effectiveness testing was established.   • Fibrinogen has been implicated to play a role in the pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Many studies have evaluated the effect of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on plasma fibrinogen levels in OSA patients. However, results from different reports were not consistent. To assess the effect of CPAP treatment on plasma fibrinogen levels of patients with OSA, a meta-analysis was performed.

    A systematic search of Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane, Wanfang Database and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure was performed. Data were extracted, and then weighted mean difference (WMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using a random-effects model.

    Twenty-two studies involving 859 patients were included in this meta-analysis. Combined data showed that plasma fibrinogen concentrations decreased after CPAP therapy (WMD = -0.38 g/l, 95% CI [-0.54 to -0.22 g/l], P<0.001). In the subgroup analyses by therapy duration, plasma fibrinogen concentrations declined significantly in the long-term (≥1 month) CPAP therapy subgroup (WMD = -0.33 g/l, 95% CI [-0.49 to -0.16 g/l], P<0.001) but not in the short-term (<1 month) CPAP therapy subgroup (WMD = -0.84 g/l, 95% CI [-1.70 to 0.03 g/l], P=0.058). Moreover, in patients with long-term CPAP therapy duration, plasma fibrinogen levels decreased with good CPAP compliance (≥4 h/night) (WMD = -0.37 g/l, 95% CI [-0.55 to -0.19 g/l], P<0.001) but not with poor CPAP compliance (<4 h/night) (WMD = 0.12 g/l, 95% CI [-0.09 to 0.33 g/l], P=0.247).

  • We found ADAM8 enzymatic activity elevated in degenerative human intervertebral disc (IVD). Here, we examined the discs in ADAM8-inactivation **** that carry a mutation preventing self-activation of the enzyme. Surprisingly, elevated gene expression for inflammatory markers (Cxcl1, IL6) was observed in injured discs of ADAM8 mutant ****, along with elevated expression of type 2 collagen gene (Col2a1), compared with wild type controls. Injured annulus fibrosus of mutant and wild type **** contained a higher proportion of large collagen fibers compared with intact discs, as documented by microscopic examination under circular polarized light. In the intact IVDs, Adam8EQ mouse AF contained lower proportion of yellow (intermediate) fiber than WT ****. This suggests that ADAM8 may regulate inflammation and collagen fiber assembly. The seemingly contradictory findings of elevated inflammatory markers in mutant **** and excessive ADAM8 activity in human degenerative discs suggest that ADAM8 may interact with other enzymatic and pro-inflammatory processes needed for tissue maintenance and repair. The aims of this study were to elucidate the occurrence of bleached area in decomposing leaf litter and to compare chemical composition between bleached and nonbleached portions in a subtropical forest in Japan. Field incubation of leaf litter was performed over an 18-month period with the litterbag method. The decomposition processes during the first 9 month were characterized by the relatively rapid mass loss and increase of bleached area, whereas the mass loss was slowed down and the bleached area decreased thereafter. Mass loss of leaf tissues was faster and AUR content was lower in bleached than in nonbleached portions, indicating the acceleration of mass loss in bleached leaf tissues by the selective decomposition of recalcitrant compounds. The decrease in carbonyl-C in the bleached portions was associated with the increase of extractable nitrogen. The results suggest that the bleaching plays a dominant role in the transformation and turnover of organic compounds and nitrogen in decomposing leaf litter.The influences of water washing treatment on the properties of Ulva prolifera-derived biochar (U.P-biochar) and its sorption characteristics of ofloxacin (OFL) were investigated. The results showed that the water washing treatment significantly changed the physiochemical structures of U.P-biochars, and improved the sorption capacity of OFL. The sorption capacity of OFL by U.P-biochar was closely dependent on pyrolysis temperature (200-600 °C) and equilibrium solution pH (3-11). Different sorption mechanisms (e.g. cation exchange, electrostatic attraction, H-bond and cationic-π and π-π interactions) were dominant for specific U.P-biochars under various pH regions (acidic, neutral and alkaline). Moreover, the unwashed and washed U.P-biochars prepared at 200 °C (BC200 and BCW200) showed a higher sorption capacity of OFL at pH = 7. The two-compartment first-order model provided an appropriate description of the sorption kinetics of OFL by BC200 and BCW200 (R2 > 0.98), which revealed that the contribution ratios between the fast and slow sorption compartments (ffast/fslow, 1.55 for BC200 and 1.25 for BCW200) reduced after water washing treatment of U.P-biochar. The values of n for the Freundlich model were less than 1, which demonstrated that the sorption of OFL by BC200 and BCW200 was favourable and nonlinear. Also, the sorption of OFL by BC200 and BCW200 increased with an increase in solution temperature and the sorption process was spontaneous and endothermic. Within six genotypes of OW rice, four grain shape traits displayed a relative small significant difference, four grain quality traits exhibited a relative small significant difference except for chalkiness rate (CR), there 226 pairs of significant PCC values between GYP and its components were calculated in all tested rice and varied from six in OW6 to eleven in OW1, there 130 pairs of significant PCC values among the four grain shape traits were calculated and ranged from twenty-one in OW1, 3, 5 to twenty-three in OW2, there 118 pairs of significant PCC values among the four grain quality traits were calculated and ranged from seventeen in OW2 to twenty-three in OW1. The numbers, directions, and size of PCC values for the grain yield and quality characters in all tested rice displayed a series of irregular variations.     We found ADAM8 enzymatic activity elevated in degenerative human intervertebral disc (IVD). Here, we examined the discs in ADAM8-inactivation mice that carry a mutation preventing self-activation of the enzyme. Surprisingly, elevated gene expression for inflammatory markers (Cxcl1, IL6) was observed in injured discs of ADAM8 mutant mice, along with elevated expression of type 2 collagen gene (Col2a1), compared with wild type controls. Injured annulus fibrosus of mutant and wild type mice contained a higher proportion of large collagen fibers compared with intact discs, as documented by microscopic examination under circular polarized light. In the intact IVDs, Adam8EQ mouse AF contained lower proportion of yellow (intermediate) fiber than WT mice. This suggests that ADAM8 may regulate inflammation and collagen fiber assembly. The seemingly contradictory findings of elevated inflammatory markers in mutant mice and excessive ADAM8 activity in human degenerative discs suggest that ADAM8 may interact with other enzymatic and pro-inflammatory processes needed for tissue maintenance and repair. As a future therapeutic intervention to retard intervertebral disc degeneration, partial inhibition of ADAM8 proteolysis may be more desirable than complete inactivation of this enzyme.Selective removal of lignin and other recalcitrant compounds, collectively registered as acid-unhyrolyzable residue (AUR), results in bleaching of leaf litter, but the importance of bleaching in decomposition processes on forest soil has not been fully evaluated. The aims of this study were to elucidate the occurrence of bleached area in decomposing leaf litter and to compare chemical composition between bleached and nonbleached portions in a subtropical forest in Japan. Field incubation of leaf litter was performed over an 18-month period with the litterbag method. The decomposition processes during the first 9 month were characterized by the relatively rapid mass loss and increase of bleached area, whereas the mass loss was slowed down and the bleached area decreased thereafter. Mass loss of leaf tissues was faster and AUR content was lower in bleached than in nonbleached portions, indicating the acceleration of mass loss in bleached leaf tissues by the selective decomposition of recalcitrant compounds. The decrease in carbonyl-C in the bleached portions was associated with the increase of extractable nitrogen. The results suggest that the bleaching plays a dominant role in the transformation and turnover of organic compounds and nitrogen in decomposing leaf litter.The influences of water washing treatment on the properties of Ulva prolifera-derived biochar (U.P-biochar) and its sorption characteristics of ofloxacin (OFL) were investigated. The results showed that the water washing treatment significantly changed the physiochemical structures of U.P-biochars, and improved the sorption capacity of OFL. The sorption capacity of OFL by U.P-biochar was closely dependent on pyrolysis temperature (200-600 °C) and equilibrium solution pH (3-11). Different sorption mechanisms (e.g. cation exchange, electrostatic attraction, H-bond and cationic-π and π-π interactions) were dominant for specific U.P-biochars under various pH regions (acidic, neutral and alkaline). Moreover, the unwashed and washed U.P-biochars prepared at 200 °C (BC200 and BCW200) showed a higher sorption capacity of OFL at pH = 7. The two-compartment first-order model provided an appropriate description of the sorption kinetics of OFL by BC200 and BCW200 (R2 > 0.98), which revealed that the contribution ratios between the fast and slow sorption compartments (ffast/fslow, 1.55 for BC200 and 1.25 for BCW200) reduced after water washing treatment of U.P-biochar. The values of n for the Freundlich model were less than 1, which demonstrated that the sorption of OFL by BC200 and BCW200 was favourable and nonlinear. Also, the sorption of OFL by BC200 and BCW200 increased with an increase in solution temperature and the sorption process was spontaneous and endothermic. This study provides valuable information for being a primary consideration in the production and application of U.P-biochar.Understanding the field performance on grain yield and quality and the genetic diversity of overwintering (OW) cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.) across main crop (MC) and ratooning crop (RC) is the premise to make strategies for the future OW rice variety improvement in rice production. The present field experiments were conducted in RC of 2016, in MC of both 2017 and 2018, and RC in 2019 to identify genotypes OW rice that perform stable in terms of grain yield and quality across different climate conditions. The grain yield plant-1 (GYP) and its components in six genotypes of OW rice exhibited significant difference across the 4 years (P ≤ 0.05), the maximum GYP in OW6 rice was harvested (60.28 g) in MC of 2017, but the minimum GYP in OW1 rice was harvested (33.01 g) in MC of 2018. Within six genotypes of OW rice, four grain shape traits displayed a relative small significant difference, four grain quality traits exhibited a relative small significant difference except for chalkiness rate (CR), there 226 pairs of significant PCC values between GYP and its components were calculated in all tested rice and varied from six in OW6 to eleven in OW1, there 130 pairs of significant PCC values among the four grain shape traits were calculated and ranged from twenty-one in OW1, 3, 5 to twenty-three in OW2, there 118 pairs of significant PCC values among the four grain quality traits were calculated and ranged from seventeen in OW2 to twenty-three in OW1. The numbers, directions, and size of PCC values for the grain yield and quality characters in all tested rice displayed a series of irregular variations. Six genotypes of OW rice were apparently distinguished by employing 196 pairs of simple-sequence repeats (SSRs) markers and exhibited abundant genetic diversity at the DNA level. It has recently been proposed that PSI from Chroococcidiopsis thermalis (Nürnberg et al. (2018) Science 360, 1210-1213) and Fischerella thermalis PCC 7521 (Hastings et al. (2019) Biochim. Biophys. Acta 1860, 452-460) contain Chl f in the positions Chl2A/Chl2B. We tested this proposal by exciting RCs from white-light grown (WL-PSI) and far-red light grown (FRL-PSI) F. thermalis PCC 7521 with femtosecond pulses and analyzing the optical dynamics. If Chl f were in the position Chl2A/Chl2B in FRL-PSI, excitation at 740 nm should have produced the charge-separated state P700+A0- followed by electron transfer to A1 with a τ of ≤25 ps. Instead, it takes ~230 ps for the charge-separated state to develop because the excitation migrates uphill from Chl f in the antenna to the trapping center. Further, we observe a strong electrochromic shift at 685 nm in the final P700+A1- spectrum that can only be explained if Chl a is in the positions Chl2A/Chl2B. Despite an explosion in our understanding of the role of fibroblasts in cardiac injury, the homeostatic functions of resident fibroblasts in adult hearts remain understudied. TGF-β-mediated signaling through the receptor-activated Smads, Smad2 and Smad3 critically regulates fibroblast function. We hypothesized that baseline expression of Smad2/3 in fibroblasts may play an important role in cardiac homeostasis. Smad2 and Smad3 were constitutively expressed in normal mouse hearts and in cardiac fibroblasts. In cultured cardiac fibroblasts, Smad2 and Smad3 played distinct roles in regulation of baseline ECM gene synthesis. Smad3 knockdown attenuated collagen I, collagen IV and fibronectin mRNA synthesis and reduced expression of the matricellular protein thrombospondin-1. Smad2 knockdown on the other hand attenuated expression of collagen V mRNA and reduced synthesis of fibronectin, periostin and versican. Since March 2019, an ongoing epidemic of acute lung injury secondary to the use of e-cigarettes with over 2600 cases and 60 deaths have been reported all over the US- which has been termed as E-cigarette or Vaping-product associated lung injury (EVALI). E-cigarette or Vaping-product associated lung injury is defined by the 1) Presence of pulmonary infiltrates in imaging 2) Use of electronic nicotine delivery systems within the previous 90 days and 3) absence of other possible causes such as infection, cardiac, neoplastic or rheumatologic causes. A significant proportion of patients hospitalized with e-cigarette or vaping-product associated lung injury have required admission in the intensive care unit, with mechanical ventilation needed in up to 1/3rd of patients. Corticosteroids, supportive care and further avoidance of vaping products remain the cornerstone of treatment. Although generally associated with an excellent prognosis, older patients and patients with underlying cardiac and pulmonary conditions are at risk for higher mortality and morbidity. This has allowed the use of some parents 1 year earlier than with traditional methods, thus reducing the duration of the breeding cycle. However, as the number of breeding cycles increases over time, greater knowledge is needed on how multiple cycles can be used in the practical implementation of GP in strawberry breeding. Advanced selections and cultivars totaling 1,558 unique individuals were tested in field trials for yield and fruit quality traits over five consecutive years and genotyped for 9,908 SNP markers. Prediction of breeding values was carried out using Bayes B models. Independent validation was carried out using separate trials/years as training (TRN) and testing (TST) populations. Single-trial predictive abilities for five polygenic traits averaged 0.35, which was reduced to 0.24 when individuals common across trials were excluded, emphasizing the importance of relatedness among training and testing populations. Our efforts yielded 26,767 novel lncRNAs and 6,009 novel mRNAs, the expression levels of silk protein genes and silk gland transcription factors were decreased in Qiufeng vs. Nd-sD and Qiufeng vs. Nd, while those of many genes related to autophagy, apoptosis, RNA degradation, ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis and heat shock proteins were increased. Moreover, the expression of a large number of genes responsible for protein synthesis and secretion was significantly decreased in Nd. GO and KEGG analysis results showed that nucleotide excision repair, mRNA surveillance pathways, amino acid degradation, protein digestion and absorption, ER-associated degradation and proteasome pathways were significantly enriched for the Qiufeng vs. Nd-sD and Qiufeng vs. Nd comparisons. In conclusion, our findings contribute to the lncRNA and mRNA database of Bombyx mori, and the identified differentially expressed mRNAs and lncRNAs help to reveal the molecular mechanisms of low silk production in Nd-sD and Nd, providing new insights for improvement of silk yield and elucidation of silk mechanical properties.
    Depression is a prevalent mental disorder, which is difficult to diagnose and treat due to its unclear pathogenic mechanisms. The discovery of novel and effective therapeutic targets for depression is urgently needed. The hippocampus is a crucial region involved in depression and has been a therapeutic target for many antidepressants. Thus, it is beneficial for comprehensive research to be carried out on the molecular mechanisms of the hippocampus involved in the pathogenesis of depression. This study aims to investigate the differentially expressed genes (DEG) in the hippocampus in a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) mouse model.

    The study obtained GSE84183 from the GEO database. The R language screened the differential expression genes (DEG) in the hippocampus tissue of depressed ****, and the enrichment pathways of DEGs were analyzed. A protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed in the STRING database and visualized in Cytoscape software. MicroRNAs for these DEGs were obtained froo be associated with the pathological process of depression. This research provided potential new molecular targets of stress-induced depression.
    This study screened 325 differentially expressed genes, containing 42 downregulated genes and 283 upregulated genes. Most of these genes are enriched in the cell cycle and the chemokine signaling pathway. Meanwhile, Wfs1, one of the top ten DEGs, was identified as the key regulator of the cell cycle and the participator in the highest number of modules screened out in PPI networks. In this study, the comprehensive analysis and evaluation of PTTG1 expression in ESCC were completed by synthesizing in-house immunohistochemistry (IHC), clinical sample tissue RNA-seq (in-house RNA-seq), public high-throughput data, and literature data. We also explored the possible signaling pathways and target genes of PTTG1 in ESCC by combining the target genes of PTTG1 (displayed by ChIP-seq), differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of ESCC, and PTTG1-related genes, revealing the potential molecular mechanism of PTTG1 in ESCC. In the present study, PTTG1 protein and mRNA expression levels in ESCC tissues were all significantly higher than in non-cancerous tissues.

    Nepal has a high prevalence of congenital anomaly contributing to high infant mortality. Ultrasound, an important tool to detect congenital anomalies and manage maternity-related risk factors, is not properly used in Nepal because Nepali doctors have limited opportunities for learning ultrasound techniques. Hence, we developed and implemented an ultrasound education program from 2016 to 2018. The objective of this study is to evaluate the education program using the Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance (RE-AIM) framework.

    We conducted a mixed-method study to evaluate each component of RE-AIM. The team collected quantitative data from administrative records, tests, surveys, and an online follow-up survey. Qualitative data were collected from individual in-depth interviews at least a year after the program. The proportions, means, and t-tests were used for quantitative data, and thematic coding for qualitative data.

Blood samples collected during apheresis (haematocrit layers 0.5% to 11%) were tested for the presence and concentration of P. vivax by microscopy, flow cytometry, 18S rDNA qPCR for total parasites, and pvs25 qRT-PCR for female gametocyte transcripts. Safety was determined by monitoring adverse events. Malaria transmission to mosquitoes was assessed by membrane feeding assays.

  • The health alert caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown have caused significant changes in people's lives. Therefore, it has been essential to study the quality of life, especially in vulnerable populations, including children and adolescents. In this work, the psychological well-being, distribution of tasks and routines, as well as the physical activity done by children and adolescents from two samples community and high abilities, have been analyzed. The methodology used was Mixed Method Research, through a survey conducted online through social networks. The informants were the parents of the children and adolescents, 209 in the community sample and 116 in the high ability sample.   • Ten-eleven translocation-2 (TET2) is a crucial driver of cell fate outcomes in a myriad of biological processes, including embryonic development and tissue homeostasis. TET2 catalyzes the demethylation of 5-methylcytosine on DNA, affecting transcriptional regulation. New exciting research has provided evidence for TET2 catalytic activity in post-transcriptional regulation through RNA hydroxymethylation. Here we review the current understanding of TET2 functions on both DNA and RNA, and the influence of these chemical modifications in normal development and pluripotency contexts, highlighting TET2 versatility in influencing genome regulation and cellular phenotypes.Photoreceptors (PRs) are specialized neuroepithelial cells of the retina responsible for sensory transduction of light stimuli. In the highly structured vertebrate retina, PRs have a highly polarized modular structure to accommodate the demanding processes of phototransduction and the visual cycle. PRs are therefore under pressure to maintain their function in defiance of constant environmental perturbation, besides being part of a highly sophisticated developmental process. All this translates into the need for tightly regulated and responsive molecular mechanisms that can reinforce transcriptional programs. It is commonly accepted that regulatory non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), and in particular microRNAs (miRNAs), are not only involved but indeed central in conferring robustness and accuracy to developmental and physiological processes. Here we integrate recent findings on the role of regulatory ncRNAs (e.g., miRNAs, lncRNAs, circular RNAs, and antisense RNAs), and of their contribution to PR pathophysiology. BAF (Brg/Brahma-associated factors) or mammalian SWI/SNF complexes employ energy generated by ATP hydrolysis to change chromatin states, thereby governing the accessibility of transcriptional regulators that ultimately affect transcriptome and cell fate. Interestingly, the requirement of BAF complex in self-renewal and differentiation of ESCs has been recently shown by genetic studies through gene expression modulations of various BAF components in ESCs, although the precise molecular mechanisms by which BAF complex influences ESC fate choice remain largely underexplored. This review surveys these recent progresses of BAF complex on ESC functions, with a focus on its role of conditioning the pluripotency and differentiation balance of ESCs. This study aimed to evaluate the association of NTS infection with growth faltering among children under the age of five. We analyzed data from 378 fecal NTS positive children with both moderate-to-severe diarrhea (MSD) and asymptomatic infection from the seven countries of South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa during enrolment and on day 60 follow up in the Global Enteric Multicenter Study (GEMS) for the period of December 2007 to March 2011. Children not associated with fecal NTS (n = 1134) were randomly selected from the same dataset (13 ratio) as a comparison group. The association between an explanatory variable and the outcome variable was longitudinally tested using generalized estimating equations (GEE), where the dependent variables were height-for-age (HAZ), weight-for-age (WAZ), and weight-for-height (WHZ) z-score, and the independent variable was the presence of fecal NTS. The GEE multivariable model identified a negative association between fecal NTS and WAZ (coefficient -0.19; 95% CI (confidence interval) -0.33, -0.04, and p value = 0.010), WHZ (coef -0.19; 95% CI -0.34, -0.05, and p value = 0.007), and HAZ (coef -0.13; 95% CI -0.27, -0.01, and p value = 0.073) after adjusting for age, gender, diarrhea, breastfeeding status, mothers' education, number of children under the age of five, household size by the number of people regularly sleep at the home, handwashing practice, source of drinking water, wealth index, presence of co-pathogens, comorbidity, and study sites. In the GEMS, where children were followed during 50-90 days of enrolment, the presence of fecal NTS harmed the child's anthropometric outcomes. In this study, transfer from a trimyristin nanoemulsion into lipid-containing hydrogel beads was investigated for fenofibrate, cannabidiol, retinyl acetate, orlistat, and lumefantrine. To generate the acceptor system, a trimyristin nanoemulsion was incorporated into Ca-alginate microspheres (mean diameter ~40 µm) with a spraying method. Using this approach, the advantages of small lipophilic acceptor particles with a large interfacial area were combined with a single separation process from the donor via a filtration step. The method was applicable to distinguish between fast (fenofibrate) and slow drug transfer (lumefantrine) with good time resolution. Lipophilicity, estimated according to the calculated logP value of the respective drug, was a major factor influencing the transfer performance the higher the logP value, the slower the transfer. This experimental setup is a promising technique to investigate the release of poorly water-soluble drugs from various types of nanocarriers under closer to physiological conditions than with many other methods currently applied.This study aimed to assess the impact of malnutrition on the 5-year evolution of physical performance, muscle mass and muscle strength in participants from the SarcoPhAge cohort, consisting of community-dwelling older adults. The malnutrition status was assessed at baseline (T0) according to the "Global Leadership Initiatives on Malnutrition" (GLIM) criteria, and the muscle parameters were evaluated both at T0 and after five years of follow-up (T5). Lean mass, muscle strength and physical performance were assessed using dual X-ray absorptiometry, handgrip dynamometry, the short physical performance battery test and the timed up and go test, respectively. Differences in muscle outcomes according to nutritional status were tested using Student's t-test. The association between malnutrition and the relative 5-year change in the muscle parameters was tested using multiple linear regressions adjusted for several covariates. A total of 411 participants (mean age of 72.3 ± 6.1 years, 56% women) were included. Of them, 96 individuals (23%) were diagnosed with malnutrition at baseline.
