Meanwhile, we find that by increasing the circumference of the assisted ring, the dispersion of the two ports could be improved proportionally. The experimental results show that the maximum group delays of the through and drop ports are 115 ns and -485 ns, respectively. This novel phenomenon could greatly enhance the sensitivity of slow light interferometers and also has potential applications in optical communication, network, filtering and switching.

Gene chip analyses showed that HTWP acupuncture mostly activated genes modulating neuronal projections (P2rx7, P2rx3, Trpv1, Tacr1, and Cacna1d), protein secretion (Exoc1, Exoc3l1, Fgb, and Fgr), and dopamine (DA) receptor D3 (Drd3) in the ventral periaqueductal gray (vPAG), among which the expression rate of P2rx7 was the most obviously increased. Acupuncture also increased the expression and excitability of DA and P2RX7 neurons, and the DA neurons expressed P2RX7, P2RX3, and TRPV1 in the vPAG. Intracerebroventricular administration of P2RX7, P2RX3, or TRPV1 antagonists blocked acupuncture-induced consciousness, and the subsequent injection of a P2RX7 antagonist into the vPAG nucleus also inhibited this effect. Advanced technologies like magnetic resonance imaging and near infrared spectroscopy are now enabling to study how the brain vasculature and its supporting features are established in humans from birth until adulthood. Furthermore, the contribution of the different neurovascular unit elements, including pericytes, endothelial cells, astrocytes and microglia, to proper brain function and behavior, can be dissected. This investigation conducted among different brain regions altered in schizophrenia, such as the prefrontal cortex, may provide further evidence that schizophrenia can be considered a neurovascular disorder.

The association between body mass index (BMI) and all-cause mortality of patients with Cardiogenic Shock (CS) is still controversial. The objective of this analysis is to summarize the available evidence of this association and perform meta-analysis using adjusted estimates.
PubMed, Embase and Cochrane databases were systematically searched for eligible studies up to July 2020. Studies were considered eligible if they described the association between BMI and all-cause mortality of patients with CS, and those reporting adjusted estimates were included in the meta-analysis.
Three studies were identified and included total 345,281 participants. The pooled hazard ratio of all-cause mortality was 0.88(95% confidence interval (CI) 0.71-1.08, P=0.23) when compared obesity with non-obese. In subgroup analysis, A subgroup analysis based on geographic region showed that obese patients had lower mortality compared with non-obese patients (OR=0.71,95% CI 0.65-0.77, P<0.00001) in USA, developed country and the retrospective study. Heterogeneity was not explained in pre-specified subgroups analysis.

Awake prone positioning (PP), or proning, is used to avoid intubations in hypoxic patients with COVID-19, but because of the disease's novelty and constant evolution of treatment strategies, the efficacy of awake PP is unclear. We conducted a meta-analysis of the literature to assess the intubation rate among patients with COVID-19 requiring oxygen or noninvasive ventilatory support who underwent awake PP.
We searched PubMed, Embase, and Scopus databases through August 15, 2020 to identify relevant randomized control trials, observational studies, and case series. We performed random-effects meta-analyses for the primary outcome of intubation rate. We used moderator analysis and meta-regressions to assess sources of heterogeneity. We used the standard and modified Newcastle-Ottawa Scales (NOS) to assess studies' quality.

The purpose of this study was to examine survival characteristics in patients suffering torso trauma with no recorded vital signs (VS) in the emergency department (ED).
The National Trauma Data Bank was analyzed from 2007 to 2015. Inclusion criteria were patients with blunt and penetrating torso trauma without VS in the ED. Patients with head injuries, transfers from other hospitals, or those with missing values were excluded. The characteristics of survivors were evaluated, and statistical analyses performed.

Traumatic duodenal injury is a rare, potentially devastating condition with challenging management decisions. Contemporary literature on operative management of duodenal injury is lacking. The purpose of this study is to assess optimal management strategies based on outcomes of patients with traumatic duodenal injury at a single trauma center.
A retrospective study of patients with traumatic duodenal injury from 2013-2020 at a level 1 trauma center was performed. Patient demographics, grade of injury as noted on CT scan or intraoperatively, surgical procedure(s) performed, and resultant outcomes were extracted.
After excluding one patient due to death on arrival, 23 patients met inclusion criteria. Injuries consisted of grade 1 (n = 7), grade 2 (n = 2), grade 3 (n = 12), and grade 5 (n = 2); there were no grade 4 injuries. Patients were predominantly male (83%) with a median age of 30 years old. Nineteen patients (82%) underwent surgery. Four of nine patients (44%) with grade 1/2 injuries had hematomas and were managed non-operatively. The remaining five patients (56%) with grade 1/2 injuries underwent operation, which included primary repair (n = 3), duodenal exclusion (n = 1), and periduodenal drainage (n = 1). Of 12 patients with grade 3 injury, 6 underwent primary repair and 6 underwent resection. Three patients who underwent primary repair and one who underwent resection developed a duodenal leak. All patients with grade 5 injury (n = 2) underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy.
Grade 1 and 2 duodenal hematomas can be managed non-operatively, while lacerations require operative repair. Outcomes may be better following resection in patients with grade 3 injury.

This brief report summarizes the impact of the impact on our residency programs clinical care and education. We have identified opportunities to improve our program using videoconferencing, managing recruitment, and maintaining a satisfactory caseload to ensure the highest possible quality of surgical education.
Hope is a modifiable entity that can be augmented. We evaluated the feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy of a short intervention to increase hopefulness in patients with advanced breast cancer and oncologists.

We consented 13 patients and 26 oncologists for participation in the workshop and 76.9% (n = 10) of consented patients and 100% (n = 26) of consented physicians participated. Postworkshop, all participad hopefulness in patients. Next steps should focus on confirming this effect in a randomized study and maintaining this effect in the postworkshop interval.

Patients after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) require special care at home, and not being aware of this need before surgery can result in anxiety. This study aimed to determine the effect of home care training on the level of anxiety and vital signs in CABG patients.

The study included 80 patients undergoing CABG surgery in January 2020. Samples were selected by convenience sampling and were randomly divided into intervention and control groups. The control group received only routine training, whereas the intervention group received two additional training sessions on home care. Data were collected using the Spielberger situational anxiety questionnaire and a checklist of vital signs, and then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results showed that before the intervention, the mean anxiety scores, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure between the two groups were not significantly different (P > .05). However, after the intervention, the mean anxiety score, heart rate, respiratory rate, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the intervention group was significantly (P < .05) lower than the control group, but the mean temperature of the two groups showed no significant difference (P > .05).

In the management of surgical emergencies, abdominal pain is one of the most frequent complaints of patients who present for emergency consultation, and up to 20% of patients prove to have an organic lesion that will require surgical management. In view of the very large number of patients concerned, the variety of clinical presentations, the potential seriousness of the etiological pathology that sometimes involves a life-threatening prognosis, healthcare workers responsible for these patients have logically been led to regularly rely on imaging examinations, which remain the critical key to subsequent management. Participants responded to self-report questionnaires assessing their trait mindfulness, attentional control, and experiential avoidance. Next, participants performed a sustained attention task, during which they also reported their subjective feelings of discomfort and boredom. Finally, participants reported their retrospective discomfort and boredom after the task.
We replicated and extended previous findings by showing that the relationship between trait mindfulness and sustained attention performance was mediated by negative affect experienced during the task.

If telemedicine corresponds to practices currently being developed to supply a high quality response to medical provider shortages in the general provision of healthcare and to specific regional challenges. Through the possibilities of "scalability" and the "augmented physician" that it has helped to create, AI may also constitute a revolution in our practices. In the management of surgical emergencies, abdominal pain is one of the most frequent complaints of patients who present for emergency consultation, and up to 20% of patients prove to have an organic lesion that will require surgical management. In view of the very large number of patients concerned, the variety of clinical presentations, the potential seriousness of the etiological pathology that sometimes involves a life-threatening prognosis, healthcare workers responsible for these patients have logically been led to regularly rely on imaging examinations, which remain the critical key to subsequent management. Therefore, it is not surprising that articles have been published in recent years concerning the potential contributions of telemedicine (and teleradiology) to the diagnostic management of these patients, and also concerning the contribution of AI (albeit still in its infancy) to aid in diagnosis and treatment, including surgery. This review article presents the existing data and proposes a collaborative vision of an optimized patient pathway, giving medical meaning to the use of these tools.The aim of this article is to present the concept of "4P medicine" i.e., medicine that is Personalized, Preventive, Predictive, and Participatory. We will discuss the evolution from cure-focused traditional medicine toward personalized medicine based on genome analysis. This case report describes the clinical, imaging, and histopathologic findings of an atypical osteoblastoma occurring in the mandible of a 60-year-old man. The characteristics of the lesion and the differential diagnosis from other bone pathoses are reviewed.Munchausen syndrome (MunS), or factitious disorder imposed on self, is an exceedingly rare and immensely difficult syndrome to identify and manage and is considered a diagnosis of exclusion. Few reports exist in the dental literature to date, so the objective of this article is to describe a case of MunS in a 60-year-old woman who sought treatment for bilateral jaw pain and uncontrolled jaw movements. The patient's symptoms started 19 months previously, following placement of a 6-unit metal-ceramic bridge. Her pain started as a mild, intermittent ache that lasted for 30 minutes. However, gradually her symptoms became severe and constant. In addition, she started to experience episodes of uncontrolled jaw contractions that were associated with bilateral episodes of stabbing and shooting pain. Results from her comprehensive clinical assessment and investigations suggested that the patient had masticatory myalgia pain disorder and oromandibular dystonia. She experienced significant relief of symptoms with pharmacologic intervention. However, after an intermittent period of relief, she returned to the clinic with an inconsistent history, irregular clinical examination, and history of erratic behavior. The patient was referred to a psychiatrist, who eventually rendered a diagnosis of MunS. This article will also address considerations for the dental team, including how to identify cases of MunS, relevant courses of action, including appropriate referral, and the consequences of overdiagnosis of MunS.A "gummy smile," considered to be exposure of more than 3.0 mm of gingival tissue during a forced smile, negatively affects smile esthetics. The present case series describes the clinical indications and technique for applying botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNTA) to correct a gummy smile and assesses the outcomes and satisfaction levels of 3 patients. The patients were told about the risks and benefits of the procedure and advised that their gummy smile was likely to recur within 6 months posttreatment. After the exposed gingival tissue of the patients was measured with a ruler, photographs were taken, and the patients recorded their pretreatment level of satisfaction with their smile on a visual analog scale (VAS), the patients were treated with BoNTA. The BoNTA was diluted in 1 mL of sterile saline according to the manufacturer's instructions, and an extraoral point of application was marked 1 mm lateral to each of the patient's nasal wings, close to the insertion of the elevator muscles of the upper lip and the nasal wings. Fourteen days after treatment, the gingival tissue exposed during a smile was again measured with a ruler, new photographic records were taken, and the patients' level of satisfaction with the treatment and the esthetic result was determined. All 3 patients reported that they were satisfied with the outcome and wanted to continue therapy with BoNTA as needed. The results of the reported cases suggest that the application of BoNTA constitutes a safe, effective treatment for the correction of gummy smile and is well accepted by patients. A modified Hennepin Quantification Score based on tissue involvement was used to determine eligibility for tPA and to quantify the severity of amputation. This is a retrospective review of patients with acute frostbite of the digits admitted to a single verified burn center over a 5-yr period. Of 199 patient admissions, 40 received tPA remotely pre-transfer, 32 received tPA on admission to our institution, and 127 patients did not qualify for tPA therapy according to the protocol. Comparing patients who required any amputation (n = 99, 49.7%) to those who did not, patients who received remote tPA had lower odds of any amputation compared to both those receiving tPA at our institution (OR 0.19, 95% CI 0.05-0.65, P = 0.01) and the group receiving no tPA (OR 0.14, 95% CI 0.05-0.40, P less then 0.001) after controlling for confounders. Only one patient receiving pre-transfer tPA according to the protocol (2.3%) had a significant bleeding event requiring transfusion. Nanobubbles have a large specific surface area, which provides a stage for interactions with various proteins and peptides on the nanometer scale. In this work, nanobubbles produced in solution were employed for studying the effects of the gas-liquid interface on the assembly of glucagon proteins. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) studies showed that nanobubble-treated glucagon solution formed fibrils with an apparent height of 4.02 ± 0.71 nm, in contrast to the fibrils formed with a height of 2.14 ± 0.53 nm in the control. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results also showed that nanobubbles promoted the assembly of glucagon to form more fibrils. Thioflavin T (ThT) fluorescence and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analyses indicated that the nanobubbles induced the change of the glucagon conformation to a β-sheet structure.

A major thrips resistance QTL in Capsicum was fine-mapped to a region of 0.4 Mbp, and a multidisciplinary approach has been used to study putative underlying mechanisms. Resistance to thrips is an important trait for pepper growers. These insects can cause extensive damage to fruits, flowers and leaves on field and greenhouse grown plants worldwide. Two independent studies in Capsicum identified diterpene glycosides as metabolites that are correlated with thrips resistance. In this study, we fine-mapped a previously defined thrips resistance QTL on chromosome 6, to a region of 0.4 Mbp harbouring 15 genes. Two of these 15 candidate genes showed differences in gene expression upon thrips induction, when comparing plants carrying the resistance allele in homozygous state to plants with the susceptibility allele in homozygous state for the QTL region. Three genes, including the two genes that showed difference in gene expression, contained a SNP that was predicted to lead to changes in protein structure. Inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) effectively reduces right ventricular afterload when administered in the immediate phase of acute pulmonary embolism (PE) in preclinical animal models. In a porcine model of intermediate-risk PE, we aimed to investigate whether iNO has pulmonary vasodilator efficacy both in the immediate and prolonged phase of acute PE.
Anesthetized pigs (n = 18) were randomized into three subgroups. An acute PE iNO-group (n = 6) received iNO at 40 ppm at one, three, six, nine and 12 hours after onset of PE. Vehicle animals (n = 6) received PE, but no active treatment. A third group of sham animals (n = 6) received neither PE nor treatment. Animals were evaluated using intravascular pressures, respiratory parameters, biochemistry and intracardiac pressure-volume measurements.
The administration of PE increased mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) (vehicle vs sham; 33.3 vs 17.7 mmHg, p < 0.0001), pulmonary vascular resistance (vehicle vs sham; 847.5 vs 82.0 dynes, p < 0.0001) and right ventricular arterial elastance (vehicle vs sham; 1.2 vs 0.2 mmHg/ml, p < 0.0001). Significant mPAP reduction by iNO was preserved at 12 hours after the onset of acute PE (vehicle vs iNO; 0.5 vs -3.5 mmHg, p < 0.0001). However, this response was attenuated over time (p = 0.0313). iNO did not affect the systemic circulation.

Differences in rhizosphere microbiomes were observed at all levels of biodiversity due to crop type, but not fertilization.

To assess the impact of a different distortion correction (DC) method and patient geometry (sagittal balance) on the quality of spinal cord tractography rendering according to different tractography approaches.
Forty-four adults free of spinal cord diseases underwent cervical diffusion-weighted imaging. The phase-encoding direction was head→foot. Sequence with opposed polarities (foot→head) was acquired to perform DC. Eddy-current, motion effects, and susceptibility artifact correction methods were used for DC, and two deterministic and one probabilistic tractography approaches were evaluated using MRtrix and DSI Studio tractography software. Fiber length and number of fibers were extracted to evaluate the quality of the tractography rendering. For each subject, cervical lordosis was measured to assess patient geometry. The angle between the main direction of the spinal cord and the orientation of the acquisition box were computed at each spine level to assess acquisition geometry and define an angle threshold for which a tractography of good quality is no longer possible.
There was a significant improvement in tractography quality after performing DC with susceptibility artifact correction using a deterministic approach based on tensor. Before DC, the angle threshold was defined at C6 (15.2°) compared with C7 (21.9°) after corrections, demonstrating the importance of spinal cord angulation for DC.
The impact of DC on tractography quality is greatly impacted by acquisition geometry. To obtain a good-quality tractography, we propose as a future perspective to adapt the acquisition geometry to that of the patient by automatically adjusting the acquisition box.

Inspired by steaming of notoginseng to enhance its pharmacological activity, a steaming protocol was developed to treat SLSs. SLSs were steamed at 100, 120, and 140°C for 1, 2, 3, and 4 h, respectively. The ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight MS and ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem triple quadrupole mass spectrometry were applied to analyze the dynamic changes in chemical compositions. The anti-acetylcholinesterase activity of steamed SLS were assessed in vitro by directly determining the metabolic product of acetylcholine/choline. The components of SLSs were significantly changed by steaming. A total of 117 saponins and aglycones were characterized, and 35 of them were newly generated.

The important parameters of the in-tube SPME-MS system experimental condition were systematically optimized to achieve the maximal extraction efficiency. Under the optimized condition, the MS intensity of benzimidazoles measured by in-tube SPME-MS is more significant, cleaner, and has a better signal-to-noise ratio than the mass intensity measured by direct MS method. Good linearity was obtained with correlation coefficients between 0.9915 and 0.9990, and the detection limits (S/N = 3) of the benzimidazoles were between 0.55 and 0.91 ng g-1. Recoveries in the range of 72.5%-92.4% were obtained for the benzimidazoles in pork and chicken in three spiked concentration levels, with satisfactory relative standard deviations (n = 4) that lower than 7.5%. The developed in-tube SPME-MS method based on the poly (AAPBA-co-DVB-co-MBAA) column was successfully used to sensitively determine trace benzimidazoles in animal products without interference peaks, indicating that it is promising for the analysis of benzimidazoles in practical samples that requiring minimal sample pre-treatment and no chromatographic separation.
The dried root and rhizome of Aster tataricus (RA), is a traditional Chinese medicine has been used for more than 2000 years with the function of antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic. Ancient books and modern pharmacological researches demonstrated that RA may have the function of moistening intestines and relieving constipation, but there was a lack of systematic evidence. The aim of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the efficacy and possible mechanisms of ethanol extract of Aster tataricus (ATE) in treating constipation from in vivo to in vitro.
In vivo, the ATE was studied in loperamide-induced constipation of ****. In vitro, different concentrations of ATE was tested separately or cumulatively on spontaneous and agonists-induced contractions of isolated rat duodenum strips.
In vivo, at doses of 0.16, 0.8 g/mL, ATE showed significantly promotion of the small intestinal charcoal transit, decrease of the amount of remnant fecal, and increase of the content of fecal water in colon. In addition, ATE could effectively relieve colonic pathological damage caused by loperamide as well. In vitro, with the cumulative concentration increase of ATE from 0.8 to 6.4 mg/mL, it could significantly decrease the contraction caused by KCl or Ach, and gradually restore to near base tension value.Meanwhile, it could also partially but significantly inhibit the contractions induced by Ach and CaCl
on rat duodenum in a concentration related manner.
Taking all these findings together, it could be speculated that ATE may attenuate constipation mainly through antagonizing the binding of acetylcholine to muscarinic receptor, inhibiting Ca
influx and anti-inflammation.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) is the only pathogen in the Mycoplasma family that can cause respiratory symptoms, including acute upper respiratory tract infection and bronchitis, which are often attributed to Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP). MPP is one of the diseases that commonly affects the pediatric respiratory system, but its pathogenesis is unclear. This study investigated the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of Qingxuan Tongluo formula and its main component, curcumin, on MPP.
A mouse model of MPP was obtained by nasal drip of the MP strain. The effects of Qingxuan Tongluo formula and curcumin on the treatment of MPP were studied. The proteomic profiles of the alveolar lavage fluid of **** in the model group, Qingxuan Tongluo formula group and curcumin group were evaluated by LC-MS/MS. ELISA and immunohistochemistry were used to verify the possible presence of MP infection biomarkers and drug target proteins.
Compared with the **** in the model group, the MPP **** in the Qingxuan Tongluo fors and cough and prolonged the cough incubation period of MPP ****. Qingxuan Tongluo formula and curcumin significantly improved the pathological changes in lung tissue caused by MP infection. Proteomics analyses indicated that Qingxuan Tongluo formula and curcumin may have therapeutic effects on MPP by regulating energy metabolism, relieving oxidative stress and activating the fibrinolytic system. ENO1 and PLG were found to be potential drug targets.
Maternal obesity induces adverse cardiac programming in offspring, and effective interventions are needed to prevent cardiovascular ill-health. Herein we hypothesized that exposure to maternal obesogenic diet-induced obesity in **** results in left ventricular remodelling and hypertrophy in early childhood, and that maternal N-acetylcysteine (NAC) treatment alleviates these effects in a sex-dependent manner.

Insect-pollinated plants are essential for honey bees to feed their brood. In agricultural landscapes, honey bees and other pollinators are often exposed to pesticides used for cultivation. In order to gain more insight into the fluctuation of pesticide loads, 102 daily pollen samples were collected between April and July 2018 in a fruit-growing area in Southern Germany. Samples were analyzed with respect to more than 260 pesticides using a multi-residue pesticide analysis method. Almost 90% of the analyzed pollen samples featured between one and thirteen different pesticides. In total, 29 pesticides were detected at maximum concentrations of up to 4500 ng/g pollen. Maximum residual concentrations of most pesticides were observed during April and the first half of May, as well as during the second half of June. In most cases, serial data of pesticide residuals were detected for approximately 10 subsequent days with two or three maximum values, which were several folds higher than concentrations on the days before and thereafter. The pollen hazard quotient (PHQ) was calculated to estimate the risk of the detected pesticides to honey bees and wild pollinators.To enhance ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) and phosphate (PO43--P) removal in hyper-eutrophic water, electrolysis-enhanced ecological floating bed (EEEFB) was designed with a Mg-Al alloy anode, a Ir-Ta-Ti metal oxide-coated titanium anode, and an Fe anode with the same graphite cathode. The results showed that the Mg-Al alloy anode with graphite cathode had a better ability to enhance NH3-N and PO43--P removal. When the current density was 0.37 mA·cm-2, the electrolysis time was 24 h/d, and the net removal rates of NH3-N and PO43--P were 62% and 99.4%, respectively. In winter, the purification efficiencies of NH3-N and PO43--P were as high as 7388.4 mg·m-2 and 4297.5 mg·m-2, respectively, by EEEFBs which were significantly higher than the traditional ecological floating bed (p less then 0.05). Soybean seedlings were exposed to control and Pb treatments during 8 days, coinciding with the early growth stages, and the following variables were analyzed biomass, Pb content in roots, stems and leaves, photosynthetic efficiency, leaf area, biochemical response (antioxidant power, chlorophylls, malondialdehyde), and relative water content of leaves. Results showed that roots accumulated **** more Pb than the other organs, with Pb accumulation in roots being saturated even at the lowest Pb concentration, which was reflected in root biomass. Moreover, absorption of culture solutions was lower in Pb treatments, which was also reflected in the lower leaf relative water content. Lead toxicity symptoms in leaves (chlorosis and dark spots, and a decrease of biomass and leaf area, chlorophyll content, and photosynthetic efficiency), and an increase of the oxidative defense system were associated only with the highest Pb concentration (2.5 mM). In this study, an evaluation framework is developed to identify the sources and health risk of heavy metals (i.e., As, Hg, Cr, Cu, Zn, Pb, and Cd) contamination in the North Canal of Fengtai District, China, which is based on multiple approaches, including multivariate statistical method, health risk assessment, and uncertainty analysis. Spatial distribution of these heavy metals could exhibit their impact on the aquatic environment. Pearson's correlation analysis shows that a majority of the correlations between different heavy metals are not significant due to the differences in sources of heavy metals. Principal component analysis indicates that there are four principal components to explain 91.381% of the total variance. Moreover, health risk reveals that hazard quotient values are in low levels, ranging from 0.48 to 0.74, relative higher quotient levels could be observed in the northern section. The carcinogenic risk of Cd has exceeded the acceptable level in S1, S3, and S7. Sensitivity analysis ensures the reliability of health risk assessments. All analyses were adjusted for age, sex, education, immigration status, and cohabitation with parents. Young people with parental alcohol problems had higher odds ratio of experiencing frequent emotional symptoms (OR = 1.56 [1.46-1.66]) and depression (OR = 2.07 [1.88-2.28]), compared to young people without parental alcohol problems. There was no effect modification between severity of parental alcohol problems and the measures of socioeconomic position on the odds ratio of frequent emotional symptoms and depression. This study found that young people with parental alcohol problems in all social strata had higher odds ratios of frequent emotional symptoms and depression compared to young people without parental alcohol problems; the more severely they had been affected by parent's alcohol problems, the higher the odds ratios of frequent emotional symptoms and depression.
