SVAB enables the pilot to look at a synthetic environment of obstacles and help the aircraft land safely, thus providing better situational awareness.

Similarly, in 2014, Rockwell Collins completed a DARPA program to develop a SVAB that combined landing zone sensor data with the terrain and obstacle data to produce an integrated 3-D view of the operational environment. During the same period, USAF helicopters were equipped with this technology.
