The Path of Exile Ultimatum expansion is now available, allowing players to wager valuable items in exchange for a chance to earn even more valuable loot through the new Ultimatum Challenge League, which is being launched today.

A reveal stream is scheduled for June 24 during which the developers will reveal the name of the new League as well as the new gameplay mechanics that will be introduced as a result of the change.  If there are any unfinished goals in Ultimatum before the league comes to a close next month, you can go back and complete them in the meantime. 

As previously reported, the new league will give players the option of either claiming their rewards upon completion of the Trialmaster's challenge or putting them at risk by participating in even more difficult challenges in the hopes of obtaining poe currency even more valuable loot in the process. . When completing an Inscribed Ultimatum Challenge, players will present an offering to the Trialmaster, and if they succeed, they will be rewarded with an item that is approximately twice as valuable as the item they presented.  In the event that they fail, the item is forfeited. 

As we've been reporting over the past week, the upcoming expansion will introduce the new risk-versus-reward Ultimatum challenge, as well as the ultra-rare Vaal Reliquary Key, new Skill and Support gems, and a variety of other new features.  Furthermore, players can anticipate changes to the passive skill tree, an overhaul of the league rewards system, enhancements to Vaal Skills, various balance tweaks, bug fixes, and other improvements. 

In the upcoming Path of Exile league, Ultimatum, players will be encouraged to take risks in order to advance further in the game.  While participating in yesterday's Ultimatum reveal stream, Grinding Gear Games delved into the details of the upcoming league and unveiled the official trailer for the game.

The Ultimatum challenge league will be included in the April expansion, and players who participate will have the opportunity to earn valuable rewards for taking risks and making sacrifices.  The way it works is as follows:

A reward and a challenge are presented by the Trialmaster, with three different difficulty modifiers to choose from.  If you are successful in your trial, you will be eligible to receive your reward.  In this case, you'll be presented with an ultimatum: either leave with your spoils or attempt more difficult encounters in order to earn more valuable rewards.  The number of trials you undertake must be carefully considered, as failure will result in the loss of all that has been gained thus far. 

Players must make an offering to the Trialmaster before they can take on the Inscribed Ultimatum challenges in the final phase of the game.  In exchange for successfully completing the inscribed challenge, they will receive an item that is approximately twice the value of the item they originally offered.  If they fail, they will forfeit the offering that they made to buy poe currency the Trialmaster in the first place. 

The Vaal Reliquary Key, which will be introduced in the Ultimatum expansion, will be the most difficult Reliquary Key to obtain in the game.  This key will appear out of nowhere and can be used to open a portal to the Vaal Reliquary.  It will drop from any location.  They'll find a chest in the Reliquary that contains an exclusive foil version of a Vaal-themed Unique item that's only available in the Reliquary.
