  • Finally, simulations of an illustrated nonlinear interconnected plant are provided to validate the present designs.This article investigates the stability and synchronization of nonautonomous reaction-diffusion neural networks with general time-varying delays. Compared with the existing works concerning reaction-diffusion neural networks, the main innovation of this article is that the network coefficients are time-varying, and the delays are general (which means that fewer constraints are posed on delays; for example, the commonly used conditions of differentiability and boundedness are no longer needed). By Green's formula and some analytical techniques, some easily checkable criteria on stability and synchronization for the underlying neural networks are established. These obtained results not only improve some existing ones but also contain some novel results that have not yet been reported. The effectiveness and superiorities of the established criteria are verified by three numerical examples.Network controllability robustness (CR) reflects how well a networked system can maintain its controllability against destructive attacks. Its measure is quantified by a sequence of values that record the remaining controllability of the network after a sequence of node-removal or edge-removal attacks. In this article, an improved method for predicting the network CR is developed based on machine learning using a group of convolutional neural networks (CNNs). In this scheme, a number of training data generated by simulations are used to train the group of CNNs for classification and prediction, respectively. In this article, we propose a novel paradigm prediction with unpredictable feature evolution (PUFE) where the feature evolution is unpredictable. To address this problem, we fill the incomplete overlapping period and formulate it as a new matrix completion problem. We give a theoretical bound on the least number of observed entries to make the overlapping period intact. A novel learning rule that mimics the mechanism of neuromodulators in regulating the learning process of the brain is put forward to learn gain patterns effectively. Meanwhile, inspired by error-based movement correction mechanism in the cerebellum, gain patterns learned from demonstration samples are leveraged as prior knowledge to improve calculation efficiency of the network in controlling novel movements. Experiments were conducted on an upper extremity musculoskeletal model with 11 muscles and a general articulated robot to perform goal-directed tasks. In this article, we explore to learn the plain interpretable representation for complex heterogeneous faces and simultaneously perform face recognition and synthesis tasks. We propose the heterogeneous face interpretable disentangled representation (HFIDR) that could explicitly interpret dimensions of face representation rather than simple mapping. Benefited from the interpretable structure, we further could extract latent identity information for cross-modality recognition and convert the modality factor to synthesize cross-modality faces.

  • Medical students come to perceive cooperation with the industry as natural, and benefits from the industry as a privilege of doctors. Medical schools can prevent this by introducing guidelines, conflict of interest polices, and changing the formal curriculum, but the need for such measures is not currently recognised in Poland.Objectives We evaluated whether the effects of recent stressful life events (SLEs) and early childhood adversities (ECAs) on depressive symptoms are consistent between men and women and across older age, and whether there was evidence for the following stress sensitization, whereby the psychological impact of SLEs is greater for individuals with ECAs compared with those without; or stress proliferation effect, whereby those with ECAs are more likely to report more SLEs than those without ECAs to effect depressive symptoms.Method ECAs, SLEs in the past two years, and current depressive symptoms through a modified CES-D were obtained from 11,873 individuals participating in a population representative study of older adults, yielding 82,764 observations. Mixed-effects regression models on depressive symptoms were constructed to control for multiple observations per participant and evaluate within-person effects over time, thereby reducing bias from reverse causation.Results Results suggest a stress proliferation effect and do not support stress sensitization. ECAs contribute to vulnerability for depressive symptoms, with a dosage effect for each additional ECA.     Although cervical cancer could be prevented through medical screening, it remains one of the top causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality all over the world. A number of factors may contribute to cervical cancer screening behaviour of women. The aim of this study was to investigate factors related to cervical cancer screening behaviour of women in Kazakhstan.

    This was a cross-sectional survey-based study with a total of 1189 participants. Women attending gynaecological clinics aged between 18 and 70 years were administered paper-based questionnaires about their awareness of cervical cancer, the associated risk factors, and cervical cancer screening. Student t test or Wilcoxon rank-sum test and chi-square test or Fisher's exact test, where appropriate, were used to determine associations with categorical independent variables.

    The mean age of participants was 36.5 ± 10.1 years. Less than half (45.7%) of the participants had been screened for cervical cancer. The key factors related to the cervical cancer screening behaviour of women in this study included age, having a larger number of children, regular menstrual function, awareness of Pap smear test, and free screening programme for cervical cancer, and the causal association of human papillomavirus with cervical cancer.

    This study revealed several significant factors predicting screening behaviour in Kazakhstani women. To improve the rate of screening, there is a need to increase public knowledge and awareness of cervical cancer and opportunities for the free screening programme in the female population of Kazakhstan.

    Medical schools employ various tools to select suitable medical students (MS). This study investigated whether MS who were admitted through multiple mini-interviews (MMI) and MS who were admitted through Taiwan's Joint College Entrance Written Test (JCEWT) differed in their characteristics.

    First-year MS from seven medical schools completed a semi-structured questionnaire that inquired into their channel of admission (MMI or JCEWT), gender, location (metropolitan or rural), high school type (public or private), parents' socioeconomic status (SES), and motivations to study medicine.

    In total, 513 MS participated, 493 (96%) returned valid questionnaires, and 397 were enrolled in the study, (MMI group 205 MS; JCEWT group 192 MS). Irrespective of channel of admission, most MS came from metropolitan areas (80%-86%), belonged to high-SES families (73%-76%), and had mixed motivations (51%-96%). Female applicants, private school leavers, and those who were less motivated by the physician's SES were more likely to be selected through the MMI channel than the JCEWT channel.

    Isolated pulmonary artery vasculitis is an uncommon cause of pulmonary artery aneurysm with very few reported cases in the literature.

    We hereby present the case of a 70-year-old man with occasional episodes of exertional chest discomfort. Our investigations revealed an expanding aneurysm of the main pulmonary artery extending to the proximal portion of the right branch. The patient successfully underwent replacement of the main pulmonary artery with a homograft.

    Histopathological examination revealed images of vasculitis with numerous multinucleated giant cells. The patient's postoperative course was uneventful.

    Hippocampal neurochemical profile, cognitive, and basic motor functions were not impaired by chronic magnetic field exposures. However, the balance-beam-walking test and the Morris water-maze testing revealed B

People experiencing loneliness or social avoidance have difficulties maintaining ordinary life activities and often experience profound suffering. How do we as clinicians deal with or help people out of loneliness and social avoidance?

We do so by first defining loneliness and social avoidance and outlining the impact on mental health issues of these phenomena.     To investigate the impact of severe patient-prosthesis mismatch (PPM) related to the Edwards Lifesciences Perimount (EP) bioprosthesis in the aortic position on early in-hospital outcomes and long-term survival.

    A total of 5964 consecutive patients underwent aortic valve replacement at the Bristol Heart Institute between 1998 and 2014, 2667 representing the cohort of this study received EP. PPM was defined severe as EOAi < 0.65 cm

To prevent myalgia, tendon disorders, and nerve entrapments in the upper musculoskeletal system, we propose action levels concerning work postures, movement velocities and muscular loads recorded by wearable equipment. As an example, we propose that wrist velocity should not exceed 20°/s as a median over a working day. This has the potential to reduce the prevalence of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) in highly exposed male occupational groups by 93%. By reducing upper arm velocity in highly exposed female groups to the suggested action level 60°/s, the prevalence of pronounced neck/shoulder myalgia with clinical findings (tension neck syndrome) could be reduced by 22%. Furthermore, we propose several other action levels for the physical workload. Our ambition is to start a discussion concerning limits for physical workload, with the long-term goal that OELs shall be introduced in legislation. Obviously, the specific values of the proposed action levels can, and should, be discussed. We hope that quantitative measurements, combined with action levels, will become an integral part of systematic occupational health efforts, enabling reduction and prevention of work-related MSDs.

    Observational study on patients with new-onset, active LV-GCA starting treatment with either prednisolone monotherapy (PRED) or combination with methotrexate (MTX) or tocilizumab (TOC). All patients underwent baseline and follow-up PET/CT. The aorta and its major branches were assessed using PET vascular activity score (PETVAS) by independent readers. Cumulative glucocorticoid doses and cessation of glucocorticoid treatment were documented in all patients.

    We included 88 LV-GCA patients, 27 were treated with PRED, 42 with MTX, and 19 with TOC. PETVAS decreased from 18.9-8.0 units at follow-up in the overall population (p< 0.001). PETVAS changes were numerically higher in patients receiving MTX (-12.3 units) or TOC (-11.7 units) compared with PRED (-8.7). Mean cumulative prednisolone dosages were 5637, 4418, and 2984 mg in patients treated with PRED, MTX, and TOC (p= 0.002). Risk ratios for glucocorticoid discontinuation at the time of follow-up PET/CT were 6.77 (95%CI 1.01-45.29; p= 0.049) and 16.25 (95%CI 2.60-101.73; p= 0.003) for MTX and TOC users compared with PRED users.

CASE REPORT This case report discusses a patient who presented to our institution with a diffuse complex rash 2 days after undergoing CT scan imaging with intravenous iodine contrast injection. The rash showed remarkable improvement in a very short time. The patient was diagnosed with delayed hypersensitivity IV iodine reaction, resistant to parenteral corticosteroids. The workup of such an extensive rash and odd presentation include several laboratory tests and skin testing to be able to rule out more serious differential diagnoses. CONCLUSIONS This case is unique as it enables us to show the importance of substituting topical management, more specifically, topical steroids that might even replace parenteral steroids, to our management in order to treat allergic reactions, especially in the presence of a rash.BACKGROUND In addition to sociodemographic and COVID-19- related factors, the needs of school support, including material, psychological and information support, have seldom been discussed as factors influencing anxiety and depression among college students during the COVID-19 pandemic. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this cross-sectional study, 3351 college students from China were surveyed through questionnaires about their sociodemographic and COVID-19 characteristics, the needs of school support, and their experiences with anxiety and depression. RESULTS Anxiety and depression were reported by 6.88% and 10.50% of students, respectively. Married, higher education, non-medical, and urban students had significantly higher risks of anxiety or depression. Additionally, symptoms such as cough and fever, especially when following a possible contact with suspected individuals, quarantine history of a personal contact, going out 1-3 times a week, not wearing a mask, and spending 2-3 hours browsing COVID-19-related information were significantly associated with the occurrence of anxiety or depression. Those who used methods to regulate their emotional state, used a psychological hotline, and who had visited a psychiatrist showed higher anxiety or depression. Those who used online curricula and books, used preventive methods for COVID-19, and who had real-time information about the epidemic situation of the school showed lower anxiety and depression. CONCLUSIONS In addition to sociodemographic and COVID-19-related aspects, students' needs for psychological assistance and information from schools were also associated with anxiety and depression among college students.
    The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of inverted photoperiods on the blood pressure and carotid arteries in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) and Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats (homologous control group).

    This study used two inverted photoperiods [inverted lightdark (ILD)16  8 and ILD12  12] to create the model. A total of 27 male SHR and 27 male WKY rats were randomly divided into six groups (nine rats per group) SHR (LD12  12), SHR (ILD16  8), SHR (ILD12  12), WKY (LD12  12), WKY (ILD16  8) and WKY (ILD12  12). We recorded the trajectory of the activity rhythm of the rats and performed carotid vascular ultrasound examination, MRI (arterial spin labelling) analysis and carotid biopsy. The results showed that inverted photoperiods increased the blood pressure, carotid intima-media thickness, resistance index and blood flow velocity. In addition, inverted photoperiods led to the development of carotid arterial thrombosis, significantly reduced cerebral blood flow and increased the number of collagen fibres. Moreover, it increased the expression of angiotensin receptor and low-density lipoprotein receptor in the carotid arteries, leading to decreased expression of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-Coenzyme A reductase and nitric oxide synthase. Inverted photoperiods induced the formation of atherosclerotic plaque. Multiple results of SHR were worse than those of WKY rats.

    We aimed to develop prediction models for estimating the long-term survival in patients who have undergone surgery for esophageal cancer.

    This nationwide Swedish population-based cohort study included 1542 patients who survived for ≥90 days after esophageal cancer surgery between 1987 and 2010, with follow-up until 2016. Risk prediction models for 1-, 3-, and 5-year all-cause mortality and 3- and 5-year disease-specific mortality were developed using logistic regression. Candidate predictors were established and readily identifiable prognostic factors. The performance of the models was assessed by the area under receiver-operating characteristic curve (AUC) with interquartile range (IQR) using bootstrap cross-validation and risk calibration.

    Predictors included in all models were age, sex, pathological tumor stage, tumor histology, and resection margin status. The models also included various additional predictors depending on the outcome, that is, education level, neoadjuvant therapy, reoperation (within 30 d of primary surgery) and comorbidity (Charlson comorbidity index).

MATERIAL AND METHODS In this cross-sectional study, 3351 college students from China were surveyed through questionnaires about their sociodemographic and COVID-19 characteristics, the needs of school support, and their experiences with anxiety and depression. RESULTS Anxiety and depression were reported by 6.88% and 10.50% of students, respectively. Married, higher education, non-medical, and urban students had significantly higher risks of anxiety or depression. Additionally, symptoms such as cough and fever, especially when following a possible contact with suspected individuals, quarantine history of a personal contact, going out 1-3 times a week, not wearing a mask, and spending 2-3 hours browsing COVID-19-related information were significantly associated with the occurrence of anxiety or depression. Those who used methods to regulate their emotional state, used a psychological hotline, and who had visited a psychiatrist showed higher anxiety or depression. Those who used online curricula and books, used preventive methods for COVID-19, and who had real-time information about the epidemic situation of the school showed lower anxiety and depression. CONCLUSIONS In addition to sociodemographic and COVID-19-related aspects, students' needs for psychological assistance and information from schools were also associated with anxiety and depression among college students. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of inverted photoperiods on the blood pressure and carotid arteries in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) and Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats (homologous control group). This study used two inverted photoperiods [inverted lightdark (ILD)16  8 and ILD12  12] to create the model. A total of 27 male SHR and 27 male WKY rats were randomly divided into six groups (nine rats per group) SHR (LD12  12), SHR (ILD16  8), SHR (ILD12  12), WKY (LD12  12), WKY (ILD16  8) and WKY (ILD12  12). We recorded the trajectory of the activity rhythm of the rats and performed carotid vascular ultrasound examination, MRI (arterial spin labelling) analysis and carotid biopsy. The results showed that inverted photoperiods increased the blood pressure, carotid intima-media thickness, resistance index and blood flow velocity. In addition, inverted photoperiods led to the development of carotid arterial thrombosis, significantly reduced cerebral blood flow and increased the number of collagen fibres. Moreover, it increased the expression of angiotensin receptor and low-density lipoprotein receptor in the carotid arteries, leading to decreased expression of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-Coenzyme A reductase and nitric oxide synthase. Inverted photoperiods induced the formation of atherosclerotic plaque. Multiple results of SHR were worse than those of WKY rats. Taken together, inverted photoperiods can produce a series of adverse consequences on blood pressure and carotid arteries. Hypertension can aggravate the adverse effects of inverted photoperiods. We aimed to develop prediction models for estimating the long-term survival in patients who have undergone surgery for esophageal cancer. Few prediction models have been developed for the long-term survival in esophageal cancer patients. This nationwide Swedish population-based cohort study included 1542 patients who survived for ≥90 days after esophageal cancer surgery between 1987 and 2010, with follow-up until 2016. Risk prediction models for 1-, 3-, and 5-year all-cause mortality and 3- and 5-year disease-specific mortality were developed using logistic regression. Candidate predictors were established and readily identifiable prognostic factors. The performance of the models was assessed by the area under receiver-operating characteristic curve (AUC) with interquartile range (IQR) using bootstrap cross-validation and risk calibration. Predictors included in all models were age, sex, pathological tumor stage, tumor histology, and resection margin status. The models also included various additional predictors depending on the outcome, that is, education level, neoadjuvant therapy, reoperation (within 30 d of primary surgery) and comorbidity (Charlson comorbidity index).

Furthermore, nitrogen-sparged OPF readily crosslinks using either ultraviolet or thermal initiator methods with or without the addition of short-chain diacrylate units, allowing for greater tunability in hydrogel properties with little to no cytotoxicity.     To risk stratify patients undergoing single-photon emission computed tomography myocardial perfusion imaging (SPECT-MPI) in accordance with appropriate use criteria for referral to coronary angiography, we developed a risk classification algorithm incorporating appropriate use criteria-defined risk features. We evaluated the association between this algorithm with downstream angiography, revascularization, and all-cause mortality.

    We studied consecutive patients who underwent SPECT-MPI from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2017, and assigned a scan risk of low, intermediate, high, or indeterminate. With this stratification, we assessed referral for angiography and revascularization within 3 months of SPECT-MPI and intermediate-term mortality.

    Among 12 799 patients, the mean age was 66 years, and a majority were men (56.8%). Most patients were low risk (83.6%) followed by intermediate (9.9%) and high risk (5.2%). Compared with low-risk patients, intermediate- and high-risk patients were more frequently ry serve as an important tool to reaffirm appropriate use criteria and direct management of patients with stable ischemic heart disease undergoing stress testing.

The aim of this study was to describe the association between nutritional risk and length of stay, days on mechanical ventilation, and in-hospital mortality in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. Methods a retrospective cohort of ventilated, critically ill patients. We assessed nutrition risk at baseline using NUTRIC-score. Logistic and linear regression models were used to analyze the association between NUTRIC-score and clinical outcomes (days on mechanical ventilation, hospital length of stay, and in-hospital mortality). A survival analysis was performed using Kaplan-Meier curves. Results a total of 112 patients were included, 39.3 % were overweight and 47.3 % were obese. Based on NUTRIC-Score, 66 % and 34 % of patients were at high and low nutritional risk, respectively. Importantly, rare germline activating variants in the NEDD4 and WWP1 genes are associated with severe COVID-19 cases. Critically, I3C, a natural NEDD4 and WWP1 inhibitor from Brassicaceae, displays potent antiviral effects and inhibits viral egression. The maturation and activation of dendritic cells (DCs) were increased by co-culturing with the oleandrin-treated cancer cells, which subsequently enhanced CD8+ T cell cytotoxicity. Murine breast cancer cell line EMT6 was engrafted into BALB/c ****, and tumor-bearing **** were administered with oleandrin intraperitoneally every day. Oleandrin inhibited tumor growth and increased tumor infiltrating lymphocytes including DCs and T cells. In the present study, by using RNA sequencing and bioinformatics analysis, we analyzed the lncRNA/mRNA profiles of normal fibroblasts (NFs) derived from normal tissues and CAFs derived from patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). LncRNA H19 was identified as a key lncRNA in oral CAFs and was synchronously upregulated in both oral cancer cell lines and CAFs. Using small interfering RNA (siRNA) strategies, we determined that lncRNA H19 knockdown affected proliferation, migration, and glycolysis in oral CAFs. We found that knockdown of lncRNA H19 by siRNA suppressed the MAPK signaling pathway, 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-biphosphatase 3 (PFKFB3) and miR-675-5p. Furthermore, the lncRNA H19/miR-675-5p/PFKFB3 axis was involved in promoting the glycolysis pathway in oral CAFs, as demonstrated by a luciferase reporter system assay and treatment with a miRNA-specific inhibitor. This systematic review examines the literature relating to splatter, droplet settle and aerosol for periodontal procedures and forms part of a wider body of research to understand the risk of contamination in relation to periodontal care procedures relevant to COVID-19.

    A search of the literature was carried out using key terms and MeSH words relating to the review questions. Sources included Medline (OVID), Embase (OVID), Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Scopus, Web of Science and LILACS, ClinicalTrials.Gov . Studies meeting inclusion criteria were screened in duplicate and data extraction was carried out using a template. All studies were assessed for methodological quality and sensitivity. In the present study, by using RNA sequencing and bioinformatics analysis, we analyzed the lncRNA/mRNA profiles of normal fibroblasts (NFs) derived from normal tissues and CAFs derived from patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). LncRNA H19 was identified as a key lncRNA in oral CAFs and was synchronously upregulated in both oral cancer cell lines and CAFs. Using small interfering RNA (siRNA) strategies, we determined that lncRNA H19 knockdown affected proliferation, migration, and glycolysis in oral CAFs. We found that knockdown of lncRNA H19 by siRNA suppressed the MAPK signaling pathway, 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-biphosphatase 3 (PFKFB3) and miR-675-5p. Furthermore, the lncRNA H19/miR-675-5p/PFKFB3 axis was involved in promoting the glycolysis pathway in oral CAFs, as demonstrated by a luciferase reporter system assay and treatment with a miRNA-specific inhibitor. Our study presents a new way to understand glucose metabolism in oral CAFs, theoretically providing a novel biomarker for OSCC molecular diagnosis and a new target for antitumor therapy. The emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and subsequent COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant effect on the delivery of routine dentistry; and in particular, periodontal care across the world. This systematic review examines the literature relating to splatter, droplet settle and aerosol for periodontal procedures and forms part of a wider body of research to understand the risk of contamination in relation to periodontal care procedures relevant to COVID-19. A search of the literature was carried out using key terms and MeSH words relating to the review questions. Sources included Medline (OVID), Embase (OVID), Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Scopus, Web of Science and LILACS, ClinicalTrials.Gov . Studies meeting inclusion criteria were screened in duplicate and data extraction was carried out using a template. All studies were assessed for methodological quality and sensitivity. Narrative synthesis was undertaken. Fifty studies were included in the review with procedures including ultrasonic scaling (n = 44), air polishing (n = 4), prophylaxis (n = 2) and hand scaling (n = 3).

    Family/caregiver visitation provides critical support for patients confronting cancer and is associated with positive outcomes. However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought historic disruptions including widespread visitation restrictions. Here, we characterize in-depth the visitor policies of NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers (CCCs) and analyze geographic/temporal patterns across CCCs.

    The public-facing CCC websites, including archived webpages, were reviewed to abstract initial visitation policies and revisions, including end-of-life (EoL) exceptions and timing of visitation restrictions relative to regional lockdowns. Chi-squared and Fisher's exact tests were employed to analyze associations between geographic region, timing, and severity of restrictions.

    Most CCCs (n=43, 86%) enacted visitation restrictions between March 15 and April 15, 2020. About half barred all visitors for COVID-negative inpatients (n=24, 48%) or outpatients (n=26, 52%).     An anonymous Internet-based study was conducted between 23 April and 26 June 2020. During the study period, the country underwent phase 3 and phase 4 of the Movement Control Order (MCO), Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), and Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO). Psychological distress was measured using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), which is a 14-item self-assessment scale for measuring distress (total HADS score; HADS-T) with two subscales, namely, anxiety (HADS-A) and depression (HADS-D). Perceived threat of infection was measured based on the health belief model.

    From a total of 631 responses received, the proportion of participants with anxiety and depression symptoms (above threshold score of 8 on HADS-A and HADS-D) was 29.0 and 20.9%, respectively. Psychological distress (HADS-T > 16) was reported in 22.3% of the respondents. A total of 16.5% had combined anxiety and depression symptoms. The highest HADS-A (6.10; 95% CI 5.64-6.56), HADS-D (5.61; 95% CI 5.14-6.08), and HADS-T (11.71; 95% CI 10.84-12.58) scores were reported among respondents during phase 4 of the MCO. Partial least square-based structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) revealed that self-perceived health status, perceived susceptibility, and severity of COVID-19 have the greatest effect, leading to higher HADS-A, HADS-D, and HADS-T scores.

  • Endoreplication, known as endocycle, is a variant of the cell cycle that differs from mitosis and occurs in specific tissues of different organisms. Endoreplicating cells generally undergo multiple rounds of genome replication without chromosome segregation. Previous studies demonstrated that Drosophila fizzy-related protein (Fzr) and its mammalian homolog Cdh1 function as key regulators of endoreplication entrance by activating the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome to initiate the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of cell cycle factors such as Cyclin B (CycB). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/azd4547.html However, the molecular mechanism underlying Fzr-mediated endoreplication is not completely understood. The presence, number and maximal size of the blebs/bullae were investigated in contralateral asymptomatic lungs based on high-resolution computed tomography. RESULTS Multiple and single blebs/bullae were noted in contralateral lungs in 425 (40.3%) and 88 (8.3%) patients, respectively. The median follow-up period was 44.0 (interquartile range 71.5) months. The 1-, 3- and 5-year cumulative occurrence rates of PSP in contralateral lungs were 7.9%, 13.7% and 16.7%, respectively. On multivariable analysis, younger age [hazard ratio (HR) 1.19, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.12-1.27; P  less then  0.001) and multiple bullae (HR 4.42, 95% CI 3.06-6.38; P  less then  0.001) were independent risk factors for spontaneous pneumothorax in the contralateral lung. The 5-year cumulative occurrence rates of PSP were significantly higher in patients with multiple blebs/bullae than in those with no or a single bleb/bulla (28.2% vs 8.5%, respectively; P  less then  0.001). METHODS In 2018, we recruited 400 adult SSB consumers to complete a shopping task in a naturalistic convenience store laboratory in North Carolina, USA. We randomly assigned participants to either a health warning arm (all SSBs in the store displayed a text health warning) or to a control arm (SSBs displayed a control label). Participants selected items to purchase with cash. RESULTS Compared to control labels, health warnings elicited more attention, negative affect, anticipated social interactions, and thinking about harms (range of ds = 0.63-1.34; all p less then .001). Health warnings also led to higher injunctive norms about limiting SSB consumption (d = 0.27, p = .008). Except for attention, all of these constructs mediated the effect of health warnings on SSB purchases (all p less then .05). METHODS Prospective data of 9,533 subjects (4,475 men and 5,058 women) participating in the Komo-Ise study answering a baseline questionnaire in 1993 and a follow-up survey in 2000 were analyzed. Associations between RD-using Yitzhaki Index (YI) and Income Rank (IR)-and mortality were evaluated using Cox proportional-hazard regression models. At follow-up, people were also asked about what they prioritized in life work, social engagement, or personal growth. RESULTS 1,168 deaths (761 men and 407 women) occurred during follow-up (to the end of 2011). This study hypothesized that prioritizing values, such as social engagement and personal growth (as opposed to prioritizing work), would inoculate against the toxic effects of upward social comparisons. METHODS Prospective data of 9,533 subjects (4,475 men and 5,058 women) participating in the Komo-Ise study answering a baseline questionnaire in 1993 and a follow-up survey in 2000 were analyzed. Associations between RD-using Yitzhaki Index (YI) and Income Rank (IR)-and mortality were evaluated using Cox proportional-hazard regression models. At follow-up, people were also asked about what they prioritized in life work, social engagement, or personal growth. RESULTS 1,168 deaths (761 men and 407 women) occurred during follow-up (to the end of 2011). Controlling for sociodemographic factors, the hazard ratio (HR) for mortality was 1.22 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.08-1.
