Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is an alternative treatment regimen that can be considered in selected patients. Complete cytoreduction, both through primary debulking surgery and interval debulking surgery, has a major positive effect on survival and should be the goal, even if this requires extensive surgery. When thorough assessment of tumor spread and performance status of the patient indicates that complete primary cytoreduction is not feasible without unacceptable morbidity, then alternative therapeutic strategies, such as neoadjuvant chemotherapy, must be considered. Such patients can be offered the option of interval debulking surgery after checking their response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and resolution of the initial obstacles for primary debulking surgery (i.e. complete response of irresectable disease and improvement of the performance status). Current evidence suggests that a selected group of patients with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage III-IV ovarian cancer will benefit from NAC-IDS. In the present study, we aimed to elucidate the effects of miR-203a on articular cartilage degradation and joint inflammation. We observed that the miR-203a level was significantly up-regulated in OA tissues and in an in vitro model of OA, respectively. Inhibition of miR-203a significantly alleviated the interleukin (IL)-1β-induced inflammatory response and ECM degradation in chondrocytes. Moreover, mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 3 (Smad3), a key factor in maintaining chondrocyte homeostasis, was identified as a putative target of miR-203a in chondrocytes. Primary hepatic angiosarcoma is extremely rare and accounts for only approximately 5% of all angiosarcomas. RESULT A total of 219 patients were included in this study. Patients were mainly middle-aged and elderly at diagnosis, with an average age at onset of 56.7 years. The vast majority of patients (61.5%) presented with abdominal pain or distension. Of 143 patients with clear records of metastasis, 31.5% (45 patients) had distant metastasis. The median overall survival time was only 6 months, and the 1- and 2-year survival rates were 30.4 and 17.3%, respectively. Sex, age, tumor size and metastasis at diagnosis showed no correlation with survival rate. Hepatic rupture was a significant predictor of survival. Surgery is a major treatment choice, and adjuvant chemotherapy can improve the prognosis of patients. Hepatic artery embolization is mainly used in cases of tumor rupture. However, liver transplantation is not advised. CONCLUSION We presented an overview of the demographics, tumor characteristics and treatment outcomes of the largest number of primary hepatic angiosarcoma patients investigated to date.   • ation mouse model.In this study, we report our contribution to the application of whole cells of Brazilian marine-derived fungi in the biotransformation of ethinylestradiol 1. A preliminary screening with twelve marine-derived fungi strains revealed that the fungus Penicillium oxalicum CBMAI 1996 promoted the biotransformation of ethinylestradiol 1. Then, P. oxalicum CBMAI 1996 was employed in the reactions in decaplicate in order to purify and characterize the main biotransformation products of ethinylestradiol 1. Compounds 1b and 1c were characterized by NMR, HRMS, [α]D and mp. Compound 1b was also characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. In addition, kinetic monitoring of the biotransformation of ethinylestradiol 1 by P. oxalicum CBMAI 1996 was evaluated in this study in order to obtain high yields of compounds 1b and 1c with a reduction of the reaction time. In this work, we proposed a biotransformation pathway of ethinylestradiol 1, which suggests the presence of several enzymes such as phenol oxidases, monooxygenases, and ene-reductases in the fungus P. oxalicum CBMAI 1996. In summary, the rapid biodegradation of ethinylestradiol 1 and compounds 1b and 1c also has an environmental relevance, since ethinylestradiol 1 and other steroidal compounds are improperly discarded in the environment, and part of these compounds are displaced into the oceans.
    To make an in vitro evaluation of the lesion size and depth produced in two different sets of radio frequency energy bipolar delivery simultaneous biparietal bipolar (SBB) and simultaneous uniparietal bipolar (SUB).

    Two separate prototypes have been built for our purpose one to be used in SBB mode and the other to be used SUB mode. Forty left atrium samples were taken from the hearts of freshly slaughtered pigs. They were ablated into a simulator ABLABOX, where blood flow, temperature, and contact force were controlled. After being sliced into a cryotome, the samples were digitalized by a flatbed scanner, and the images were analyzed by a computer morphometric software.

    Transmural lesions were achieved in 18/20 samples (90%) in SBB, while SUB showed transmurality in 9/20 samples (45%). Overall maximum diameter (D

    Catheter ablation (CA) procedures are characterized by exposure to ionizing radiations (IR). IR can cause DNA damage and may lead to carcinogenesis if not efficiently repaired. The primary endpoint of this study is to investigate whether intravenous administration of N-acetylcysteine prior to CA procedure may prevent systemic oxidative stress and genomic DNA damage induced by exposure to IR.

    The "Cardiac Arrhythmia catheter ablation procedures guided by x-Ray imaging N-Acetylcysteine Protection Against radiation induced Cellular damagE" (CARAPACE) study is a prospective, randomized, single-blinded, parallel-arm monocenter study enrolling 550 consecutive patients undergoing CA at the Arrhythmology Unit of Centro Cardiologico Monzino (CCM). Inclusion criteria are age ≥ 18, indication for CA procedure guided by IR imaging, and written informed consent. IR levels will be measured via fluoroscopy time, effective dose, and dose area product. Glutathione and glutathione disulfide concentrations will be measured, and urinary levels of 8-iso-prostaglandin-F
    and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine will be quantified. The enrolled patients will be randomized 11 to the N-acetylcysteine group or to the control group.

    We expect that pre-operative administration of N-acetylcysteine will prevent IR-induced systemic oxidative stress. The study will provide data on oxidative DNA damage assessed by urinary 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine levels and direct evidence of genomic DNA damage in blood cells by comet assay.

    Open abdomen (OA) is a surgical option that can be used in patients with severe peritonitis. Few evidences exist to recommend the use of intraperitoneal fluid instillation associated with OA in managing septic abdomen.

    A prospective analysis of adult patients enrolled in the International Register of Open Abdomen (trial registration NCT02382770) was performed.

    A total of 387 patients were enrolled in two groups 84 with peritoneal fluid instillation (FI) and 303 without (NFI). The groups were homogeneous for baseline characteristics. Overall complications were 92.9% in FI and 86.3% in NFI (p = 0.106). Complications during OA were 72.6% in FI and 59.9% in NFI (p = 0.034). Complications after definitive closure were 70.8% in FI and 61.1% in NFI (p = 0.133). Entero-atmospheric fistula was 13.1% in FI and 12% in NFI (p = 0.828). Fascial closure was 78.6% in FI and 63.7% in NFI (p = 0.02).   • These limitations are exacerbated for children and families who are most marginalized and facing the highest levels of social and economic barriers. Lack of access to reliable technology, lack of a private or confidential space for sessions, and reluctance to process trauma in the absence of a safe environment, are all barriers to conducting effective trauma treatment over telemental health. This article discusses both the benefits and barriers to telemental health in a child maltreatment population and offers considerations for child trauma service provision, program development, and policy during and post the COVID-19 pandemic.
    In this cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study, we sought to compare the ultrasonic thickness of the masseter muscle in people with severe forward head posture vs people without forward head posture, and to determine sex differences in muscle thickness.

    Thirty-eight volunteers (19 with normal head postures and 19 with severe forward head postures), aged 18 to 35 years, entered the study. The severity of the forward head posture was measured by a plumb line and the craniovertebral angle drawn on the recorded images. Based on the recorded images, the masseter muscle thickness was also measured by a 7.5-MHz linear transducer using an ultrasound device in the seated position with 3 mouth positions (closed, half open, and fully open).

    The results showed that the head posture affects masseter thickness significantly (P = .01), with masseter thickness significantly lower in the participants without severe forward head postures compared to those with severe forward head postures in the closed, half-open, and fully open mouth positions (P < .05). Comparing the mean masseter thickness across sexes showed that the masseter muscle is significantly thicker in men compared to women (P = .01).

    A single group of 30 participants (60.96 ± 5.16 years) with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (KOA) was evaluated. The protocol involved 5 evaluations moments, before (baseline) and after 2 weeks of intervention (24 hours after the last session), and at 3-week follow-up. To date, however, a clinical screening tool for this condition has not been developed for use in Thailand. The objectives of this study were to translate and test the content validity and rater reliability of a screening tool for evaluating Thai patients with lumbar instability.

Thirty-eight volunteers (19 with normal head postures and 19 with severe forward head postures), aged 18 to 35 years, entered the study. The severity of the forward head posture was measured by a plumb line and the craniovertebral angle drawn on the recorded images. Based on the recorded images, the masseter muscle thickness was also measured by a 7.5-MHz linear transducer using an ultrasound device in the seated position with 3 mouth positions (closed, half open, and fully open).   • Canine osteosarcoma (OSA) is an aggressive bone tumour in dogs. Standard-of-care treatment typically results in relatively short survival times; thus, alternative treatments are needed to confer a survival advantage. It has been shown that OSA is an immunogenic tumour, suggesting that immune modulation may result in superior outcomes. A cryopreserved, Listeria-based OSA vaccine was recently developed and an initial study in dogs reported prolonged survival for patients receiving the vaccine in conjunction with standard-of-care. The goal of the current observational study was to report on the safety of the lyophilized formulation of this vaccine (the canine OSA vaccine, live Listeria vector [COV-LLV]) in a group of dogs previously diagnosed with OSA. Forty-nine (49) dogs received the COV-LLV and were included for analysis. Adverse events (AEs) noted during and after vaccinations were recorded. The AEs observed were typically mild and self-limiting, with nausea, lethargy and fever being most common. Four dogs (8%) cultured positive for Listeria (three infections including an amputation site abscess, septic stifle joint and bacterial cystitis; and one dog whose lungs cultured Listeria-positive on necropsy within 24 hours of COV-LLV administration). These cases join the previously reported Listeria-positive thoracic abscess that developed in a canine following use of COV-LLV. Although uncommon, it is important to realize this clinically significant AE is possible in patients treated with live therapeutic Listeria vaccines. As Listeria is zoonotic, caution is required not only for the patient receiving the vaccine, but also for the health care workers and family caring for the patient.Obesity and related metabolic disorders are associated with intestinal microbiota dysbiosis, disrupted intestinal barrier, and chronic inflammation. Neohesperidin (Neo), a natural polyphenol abundant in citrus fruits, is known for its preventative and therapeutic effects on numerous diseases. Here, we report that Neo administration attenuates weight gain, low-grade inflammation, and insulin resistance in **** fed high-fat diet (HFD). Also, Neo administration substantially restores gut barrier damage, metabolic endotoxemia, and systemic inflammation. Sequencing of 16S rRNA genes in fecal samples revealed that Neo administration reverses HFD-induced intestinal microbiota dysbiosis an increase in the diversity of gut microbiota and alteration in the composition of intestinal microbiota (particularly in the relative abundances of Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes). Furthermore, systemic antibiotic treatment abolishes the beneficial effects of Neo in body weight control, suggesting that the effect of Neo on obesity attenuation largely depends on the gut microbiota. More importantly, we demonstrate that the impact of Neo on the regulation of obesity could be transferred from Neo-treated **** to HFD-fed **** via fecal microbiota transplantation.     Surgical resection of head and neck (H&N) neoplasms requiring osseous reconstruction have underdefined complication profiles. This study aimed to characterize postoperative outcomes of patients with H&N neoplasia undergoing osteocutaneous flap (OCF) or bare bone flap (BBF) reconstructions.

    Retrospective analysis of the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) 2005-2017 databases. In the UK, the General Medical Council outlines a requirement for medical graduates to involve patients and their families in discussions on their care at the end-of-life. However medical students feel ill-equipped to conduct these discussions.

    In 2018, Sheffield Medical School introduced a small group role-play session on end-of-life discussions for all final year medical students. Scenarios were devised to improve confidence in the following learning domains communicating prognosis with patients and family; ascertaining patient's goals, values and preferred place of death; discussing escalation of treatment, discussing do not attempt resuscitation orders, care in the dying phase of illness and pre-emptive prescribing. Evaluation was conducted over 16 weeks with a before and after questionnaire. Students rated their confidence in the above learning domains on a Likert-style scale and explained their ratings in free-text boaduation.Currently, no treatment exists to improve semen quality in most infertile men. Here, we demonstrate systemic and direct effects of Fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) and Klotho, which normally regulate vitamin D and mineral homeostasis, on testicular function. Direct effects are plausible because KLOTHO is expressed in both germ cells and spermatozoa and forms with FGFR1 a specific receptor for the bone-derived hormone FGF23. Treatment with FGF23 increased testicular weight in wild-type ****, while **** with global loss of either FGF23 or Klotho had low testicular weight, reduced sperm count, and sperm motility. **** with germ cell-specific Klotho (gcKL) deficiency neither had a change in sperm count nor sperm motility.     Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the most common malignant tumors all over the world. In recent years, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been proven to participate in the development of different cancers, including NSCLC. PCGEM1 prostate-specific transcript (PCGEM1) is the lncRNA which is associated with the progression of several cancers. Nevertheless, in NSCLC, the specific functions of PCGEM1 are not yet clear.

    The real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was utilized to test the expression of PCGEM1 in NSCLC cells. Functional experiments, including cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) assay, flow cytometry analysis and transwell assays were utilized to estimate cell proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis. Meanwhile, RNA pull down assay and luciferase reporter assay were utilized to evaluate the correlation of miR-433-3p with PCGEM1 or WT1 associated protein (WTAP).

To prevent serious morbidity and mortality, diabetes treatment requires a commitment to demanding self-care practice. This study aimed to assess self- care practices and its associated factors among adults with diabetes in Dire Dawa public hospitals of Eastern, Ethiopia.

    A cross-sectional study was conducted among 513 adults with diabetes. The study participants were selected through systematic random sampling. Data were collected from February 1st to March 1st, 2018. Patients were interviewed using a structured questionnaire. Data were entered into Epi-data version 3.3.1 and exported to SPSS version 22.0 for analysis. Bivariable and multivariable logistic regression with crude and adjusted odds ratios along with the 95% confidence interval was computed and interpreted accordingly. In recent years, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been proven to participate in the development of different cancers, including NSCLC. PCGEM1 prostate-specific transcript (PCGEM1) is the lncRNA which is associated with the progression of several cancers. Nevertheless, in NSCLC, the specific functions of PCGEM1 are not yet clear. The real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was utilized to test the expression of PCGEM1 in NSCLC cells. Functional experiments, including cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) assay, flow cytometry analysis and transwell assays were utilized to estimate cell proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis. Meanwhile, RNA pull down assay and luciferase reporter assay were utilized to evaluate the correlation of miR-433-3p with PCGEM1 or WT1 associated protein (WTAP). Analyses of individual gene expressions revealed that trout had significantly higher mRNA levels for 11 of the 16 examined genes at 3 than at 8 °C, and for one gene (retinol-binding protein 1), mRNA levels were higher in the presence than in the absence of the predator. Moreover, we found interaction effects between temperature and predator presence for two genes that code for serotonin and glucocorticoid receptors.

Although theorists have highlighted social aspects of workplace bullying and its antecedents, the role of individuals' social relations with other members of their organization has rarely been examined empirically. Drawing on insights from social network research and research on social rejection, the purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between exposure to bullying and employees' informal social relationships (here friendships; negative relationships) with other members of their organization. Data from two waves of surveys among 249 employees in eight organizations in Finland were analyzed using stochastic actor-oriented modeling. We found that employees' centrality (i.e., the number of their relationships) had no effect on exposure to bullying. However, exposure to bullying affected targets' perceptions of their relationships with colleagues employees who had experienced bullying subsequently reported significantly more friendship relationships, but not significantly more negative relationships, suggesting that aggressive or antisocial responses may be more muted in field settings than in experimental settings. Our study contributes to research on workplace bullying by providing a more detailed understanding of the relationship between workplace bullying and employees' social relations, and by offering insights about the consequences of workplace bullying for targets' social relations. Effective treatment is of paramount importance, yet young adults' treatment needs are typically less well met than those of adolescents. In recent years, there has been a considerable shift in how developmental psychologists understand the transition to adulthood, with this life-phase reconceptualized as "emerging adulthood" (EA) (~18-25 years). Engagement with burgeoning developmental research is likely key to providing more effective care for young people experiencing EDs. Aims To review ED research which has utilized the concept of EA, and to assess the usefulness of this concept for ED research and practice. To better understand the underlying mechanism of how performance measurement systems (PMSs) improve job performance, a mediation model was constructed in the current study to examine organizational learning as a possible mediating variable. Data were collected using a questionnaire in China with a sample size of 191 managers. Structural equation model and Smart-PLS methods were used to test the hypotheses. Results yielded significant direct effects between the interactive use of PMS on organizational learning and job performance. Additionally, organizational learning was found to play a mediating role in the relationship between interactive use of PMS and job performance. These findings highlight the importance of interactive PMS use, as well as the underlying mechanisms among PMS, organizational learning, and job performance, and further help the management clarify how organizational learning affects performance, providing a framework for building a sustainable competitive advantage. I start by observing that human linguisticality (=the biological capacity for language) is uncontroversial, and that confusing terminology ("language faculty," "universal grammar") has often clouded the substantive issues in the past. I argue that like musicality and other biological capacities, linguisticality is best studied in a broadly comparative perspective. Comparing languages like other aspects of culture means that the comparisons are of the Greenbergian type, but many linguists have presupposed that the comparisons should be done as in chemistry, with the presupposition that the innate building blocks are also the material that individual grammars are made of. In actual fact, the structural uniqueness of languages (in lexicon, phonology, and morphosyntax) leads us to prefer a Greenbergian approach to comparison, which is also more in line with the Minimalist idea that there are very few domain-specific elements of the biological capacity for language. This study recruited two samples (Study 1 = 230; Study 2 = 159) and administered the College Student-Athlete's Life Stress Scale (CSALSS; Lu et al., 2012), Athletic Mental Energy Scale (AMES; Lu et al., 2018), and Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ; Raedeke and Smith, 2001). Two separate hierarchical multiple regression analyses found that the emotional and cognitive components of athletic mental energy moderated the athletes' life stress-burnout relationship across the two studies. Results provided the initial evidence that athletic mental energy can be positive strengths in buffering the stress-burnout relationship. Drawing on insights from social network research and research on social rejection, the purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between exposure to bullying and employees' informal social relationships (here friendships; negative relationships) with other members of their organization. Data from two waves of surveys among 249 employees in eight organizations in Finland were analyzed using stochastic actor-oriented modeling. We found that employees' centrality (i.e., the number of their relationships) had no effect on exposure to bullying. However, exposure to bullying affected targets' perceptions of their relationships with colleagues employees who had experienced bullying subsequently reported significantly more friendship relationships, but not significantly more negative relationships, suggesting that aggressive or antisocial responses may be more muted in field settings than in experimental settings. Our study contributes to research on workplace bullying by providing a more detailed understanding of the relationship between workplace bullying and employees' social relations, and by offering insights about the consequences of workplace bullying for targets' social relations. Effective treatment is of paramount importance, yet young adults' treatment needs are typically less well met than those of adolescents. In recent years, there has been a considerable shift in how developmental psychologists understand the transition to adulthood, with this life-phase reconceptualized as "emerging adulthood" (EA) (~18-25 years). Engagement with burgeoning developmental research is likely key to providing more effective care for young people experiencing EDs. Aims To review ED research which has utilized the concept of EA, and to assess the usefulness of this concept for ED research and practice. To better understand the underlying mechanism of how performance measurement systems (PMSs) improve job performance, a mediation model was constructed in the current study to examine organizational learning as a possible mediating variable. Data were collected using a questionnaire in China with a sample size of 191 managers. Structural equation model and Smart-PLS methods were used to test the hypotheses. Results yielded significant direct effects between the interactive use of PMS on organizational learning and job performance. Additionally, organizational learning was found to play a mediating role in the relationship between interactive use of PMS and job performance. These findings highlight the importance of interactive PMS use, as well as the underlying mechanisms among PMS, organizational learning, and job performance, and further help the management clarify how organizational learning affects performance, providing a framework for building a sustainable competitive advantage. Copyright © 2020 Zhang and Yu.This paper discusses the widely held idea that the building blocks of languages (features, categories, and architectures) are part of an innate blueprint for Human Language, and notes that if one allows for convergent cultural evolution of grammatical structures, then much of the motivation for it disappears. I start by observing that human linguisticality (=the biological capacity for language) is uncontroversial, and that confusing terminology ("language faculty," "universal grammar") has often clouded the substantive issues in the past. I argue that like musicality and other biological capacities, linguisticality is best studied in a broadly comparative perspective. Comparing languages like other aspects of culture means that the comparisons are of the Greenbergian type, but many linguists have presupposed that the comparisons should be done as in chemistry, with the presupposition that the innate building blocks are also the material that individual grammars are made of. In actual fact, the structural uniqueness of languages (in lexicon, phonology, and morphosyntax) leads us to prefer a Greenbergian approach to comparison, which is also more in line with the Minimalist idea that there are very few domain-specific elements of the biological capacity for language. This study recruited two samples (Study 1 = 230; Study 2 = 159) and administered the College Student-Athlete's Life Stress Scale (CSALSS; Lu et al., 2012), Athletic Mental Energy Scale (AMES; Lu et al., 2018), and Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ; Raedeke and Smith, 2001). Two separate hierarchical multiple regression analyses found that the emotional and cognitive components of athletic mental energy moderated the athletes' life stress-burnout relationship across the two studies. Results provided the initial evidence that athletic mental energy can be positive strengths in buffering the stress-burnout relationship.     The aim of this study was to assess the post curing monomer release of resins applicable for 3D printing of surgical implant guides in dependency of printing technique and storing media using high performance liquidchromatography.

    Specimens of Nextdent SG, Freeprint Splint, Fotodent Guide, 3Delta Guide, and V-print SG (n = 4) were additively manufactured with the corresponding DLP/SLA printing devices (Rapidshape D20II, Form2, Solflex350). Postprocessing was done according to the manufacturer's specifications. Subsequently, samples were eluted in methanol and water for 3 days and analyzed with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).

    A total of twelve different substances released from the tested resin materials. The highest eluted concentration for MMA in methanol was 20.27 ± 8.60 μg/mL followed by 12.66 ± 3.38 μg/mL of HPMA. HEMA was found at concentration of 11.17 ± 2.43 μg/mL in methanol and 1.15 ± 0.11 μg/mL in water. TPGDA and TEGDMA reached maximum concentration in methanol of 4.29 ± 0.54 μgmonomers from 3D printed guides is comparable to conventional direct composites and below toxic relevant concentrations, the absolute amount of monomer can rise in a clinic situation due to the size of the guides.Novel coronavirus disease 2019 is the disease caused by the novel coronavirus originally from Wuhan, China.     Difficulty in accessing peripheral veins in emergency departments increases patients' discomfort and impedes their diagnosis. The objective of this study was to develop and test the prognostic accuracy of an easily applied scale to measure difficult venous access to peripheral veins in emergency departments, called the Adult-Difficult Venous Catheterization scale.

    This prospective observational study was conducted in adults from the hospital catchment area attending the emergency department. Using the Delphi technique, 5 experts reached a consensus regarding a 3-item scale scored from 0 to 5. Concurrent validity and predictive validity were analyzed using a numeric rating scale and the number of access attempts, respectively. Internal consistency and interobserver reliability for 3 independent observers were analyzed using Cronbach alpha and Cohen kappa, respectively.

    In 392 participants, the concurrent and predictive validity scores pointed to positive relationships with the numeric rating scale (r= 0.82; P < 0.001) and the number of access attempts (r= 0.5; P < 0.001), respectively. The odds ratio for 1 to 2 access attempts versus more than 2 access attempts in relation to the Adult-Difficult Venous Catheterization scale score was 2.76 (95% confidence interval 1.86, 4.08; P < 0.001). Sensitivity and specificity values for the Adult-Difficult Venous Catheterization scale were good, at 93.75% and 78.99%, respectively, as were internal consistency (Cronbach alpha 0.81) and interobserver reliability (Cohen kappa 0.75).

The median number of participants in multidisciplinary team meeting was 10, with a regular presence of oncologists, palliative care team members, social workers, dietician, physiotherapist and psychologist. The two most common reasons for case presentation were advice on follow-up and support on a precise palliative situation. Multidisciplinary support care meeting decisions were relatively well implemented, with a compliance rate of 81.8 %. Nevertheless, cases were presented late with a median time of 1.5 months from presentation to patient death. The creation of a cross-supportive care department has increased this meeting relevance and it would be important in the near future to evaluate whether this organization allows a better foresight of supportive care.Kidney injury is a well-known complication in people with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In kidney transplant recipients with COVID-19, presentation with nephrotic syndrome has not been well described. We report on a 49-year-old black female kidney transplant recipient who presented 25 years after transplant with clinical features of nephrotic syndrome following a diagnosis of COVID-19. Histologic examination showed acute tubular injury with unremarkable glomeruli on light microscopy and diffuse foot process effacement of podocytes on electron microscopy, consistent with minimal change-like podocyte injury. Apolipoprotein L1 (APOL1) genetic testing confirmed 2 high-risk APOL1 alleles in the kidney donor. We speculate that COVID-19-induced systemic or local cytokine release could serve as a second hit in the presence of APOL1 risk alleles and mediate a podocytopathy manifesting as nephrotic syndrome. The presented case with minimal change-like disease, occurring in the context of the donor high-risk APOL1 genotype, extends the spectrum of clinical manifestations in COVID-19-associated nephropathy.

Negative antibody titres were observed in 11.5% of the IAC for diphtheria, 18.6% for tetanus, and 39.0% for hepatitis B. At multivariate analysis, originating from Africa was an independent risk factor for seronegativity for the three diseases (p less then 0.001), while age below four years was an independent factor associated with protective immunity, only considering hepatitis B (p less then 0.001). Vaccine documentation was an additional factor independently associated with protective immunity. However, a discrepancy between documentation (indicating previous vaccinations) and serology (showing negative antibody titres) was evidenced in 3.8% of the children for diphtheria, 12.6% for tetanus, and 29.6% for hepatitis B. The analyses confirmed the chemical modification of clay layers and the intercalation of rosin-limonene copolymer within the organophilic-clay sheets. An exfoliated structure was obtained for the lower amount of clay (1% wt of Mag-CTA+), while intercalated structures were detected for high amounts of clay (5 and 10% wt of Mag-CTA+). The thermal properties of the nanocomposites were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and show a significant improvement inthe thermal stability of the obtained nanocomposites compared to the purerosin-limonene copolymer (a degradation temperature up to 280 °C).Congenital malformations of the central nervous system (CNS) can affect the CNS alone or the CNS and craniofacial structures. Here, we report an unusual and complex congenital cephalic malformation observed in a 3-day-old male crossbreed calf. Clinical examination disclosed a dome-shaped cranial vault, a flat face with a short snout, a median cleft lip, and increased intraorbital distance. The frontal region of the head was remarkable for a fluctuant, sac-like protrusion covered with haired skin. Neurologic findings suggested a multifocal intracranial lesion affecting the prosencephalon and the central vestibular system. While pathological and histopathological findings posited for a presumptive diagnosis of either hydranencephaly or holoprosencephaly associated with multiple congenital facial abnormalities, not all the findings could be definitely attributed to either of the two encephalic malformations alone. To our knowledge, a similar combination of severe congenital abnormalities affecting both the CNS and the craniofacial structures has not been reported in calves to date.On the basis of a modified three-dimensional (3D) random distribution fiber model, this study further investigates the flexural-tensile rheological behavior and its influence factors of fiber-reinforced asphalt mortar. First, the viscoelastic creep at a temperature of 15 °C for pure asphalt mortar as the control sample are obtained by the beam bending creep test to fit the Burgers constitutive parameters. Second, a 3D numerical model consisting of a homogeneous asphalt mortar matrix with viscoelastic parameters and short and straight fibers with elastic characteristics is built in a cuboid space on the basis of a fiber algorithm to simulate the flexural-tensile rheological behavior using ABAQUS software, and the rheological behavior of the 3D model is consistent with those of the test result. Finally, 3D numerical simulations are conducted to further analyze the effect of fiber factors (e.g., contents, aspect ratios, modulus, and fiber types) on the rheological behavior. Results show that the effect of basalt fiber (BF) compared with steel wool fiber are more significant, and increasing fiber contents and aspect ratios have a positive reinforcement effect on the rheological behavior, where BF content for 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3% at 3600 s compared with the control reduced by 37.5%, 53%, and 61.7%, and BF aspect ratios for 30, 40, and 50 compared with that for 20 increased by 4.3%, 16.1%, and 32.9%, respectively, but the change in fiber modulus has a minimal impact.Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a common disease worldwide. Clinical examination disclosed a dome-shaped cranial vault, a flat face with a short snout, a median cleft lip, and increased intraorbital distance. The frontal region of the head was remarkable for a fluctuant, sac-like protrusion covered with haired skin. Neurologic findings suggested a multifocal intracranial lesion affecting the prosencephalon and the central vestibular system. While pathological and histopathological findings posited for a presumptive diagnosis of either hydranencephaly or holoprosencephaly associated with multiple congenital facial abnormalities, not all the findings could be definitely attributed to either of the two encephalic malformations alone. To our knowledge, a similar combination of severe congenital abnormalities affecting both the CNS and the craniofacial structures has not been reported in calves to date.On the basis of a modified three-dimensional (3D) random distribution fiber model, this study further investigates the flexural-tensile rheological behavior and its influence factors of fiber-reinforced asphalt mortar. First, the viscoelastic creep at a temperature of 15 °C for pure asphalt mortar as the control sample are obtained by the beam bending creep test to fit the Burgers constitutive parameters. Second, a 3D numerical model consisting of a homogeneous asphalt mortar matrix with viscoelastic parameters and short and straight fibers with elastic characteristics is built in a cuboid space on the basis of a fiber algorithm to simulate the flexural-tensile rheological behavior using ABAQUS software, and the rheological behavior of the 3D model is consistent with those of the test result. Finally, 3D numerical simulations are conducted to further analyze the effect of fiber factors (e.g., contents, aspect ratios, modulus, and fiber types) on the rheological behavior. Results show that the effect of basalt fiber (BF) compared with steel wool fiber are more significant, and increasing fiber contents and aspect ratios have a positive reinforcement effect on the rheological behavior, where BF content for 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3% at 3600 s compared with the control reduced by 37.5%, 53%, and 61.7%, and BF aspect ratios for 30, 40, and 50 compared with that for 20 increased by 4.3%, 16.1%, and 32.9%, respectively, but the change in fiber modulus has a minimal impact.Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a common disease worldwide.
