Pharmacokinetics revealed that the maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) and the area under the plasma concentration-time curve from 0 to 24 h (AUC0-24) for CUR@GPP3 micelles were both significantly increased, and that the relative bioavailability of CUR@GPP3 micelles to CUR-loaded mPEG-PLA/TPGS micelles (CUR@PP micelles) was 258.8%. Furthermore, CUR-loaded micelles could reduce damage to the liver and intestinal tissues. This study highlights the importance of Gal content in the design of targeting nanocarrier Gal-modified micelles, which have broad prospects for oral delivery of hydrophobic drugs. In this review article, the influences of different types of biomaterials such as nanoparticles, hydrogels and scaffolds on the immune cells and the modification of immune-responsive factors such as reactive oxygen species (ROS), cytokines, chemokines, enzymes, and metalloproteinases in tissue microenvironment are summarized. In addition, the recent advances of immune-responsive biomaterials in therapy of inflammation-associated diseases such as myocardial infarction, spinal cord injury, osteoarthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and diabetic ulcer are discussed.

The proof-of-concept experiments illustrate the viability of the constant pressure mode of operation for the second dimension of 2D-LC. In the described separations the throughput improvement is on the order of 10%; this gain will be strongly application-dependent, and may be as large as several tens percent in some cases. Future work will involve a detailed investigation of the impact of the constant pressure mode on robustness of 2D separations.
IgA nephropathy is thought to be an autoimmune disease wherein galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) is recognized by IgG autoantibodies, resulting in formation and renal accumulation of nephritogenic immune complexes. Although this hypothesis is supported by recent findings that, in renal immunodeposits of IgA nephropathy patients, IgG is enriched for Gd-IgA1-specific autoantibodies, experimental proof is still lacking.
IgG isolated from sera of IgA nephropathy patients or produced as a recombinant IgG (rIgG) was mixed with human Gd-IgA1 to form immune complexes. IgG from healthy individuals served as a control. Nude and SCID **** were injected with human IgG and Gd-IgA1, in immune complexes or individually, and their presence in kidneys was ascertained by immunofluorescence. Pathologic changes in the glomeruli were evaluated by quantitative morphometry and exploratory transcriptomic profiling was performed by RNA-Seq.
Immunodeficient **** injected with Gd-IgA1 mixed with IgG autoantibodies from patients with IgA nephropathy, but not Gd-IgA1 mixed with IgG from healthy individuals, displayed IgA, IgG, and mouse complement C3 glomerular deposits and mesangioproliferative glomerular injury with hematuria and proteinuria. Un-complexed Gd-IgA1 or IgG did not induce pathological changes. Moreover, Gd-IgA1-rIgG immune complexes injected into immunodeficient **** induced histopathological changes characteristic of human disease. Exploratory transcriptome profiling of mouse kidney tissues indicated that these immune complexes altered gene expression of multiple pathways, in concordance with the changes observed in kidney biopsies of patients with IgA nephropathy.

Current studies do not provide enough evidence to understand the scope of structured debating as an instrument to develop personal competences needed in nursing. However, based on the evidence reviewed, we have identified elements to establish a debate-based learning format that might enhance student's learning and future studies.Biofuels are a type of sustainable and renewable energy. However, for the economical production of bulk-volume biofuels, biosystems design is particularly challenging to achieve sufficient yield, titer, and productivity. Because of the lack of predictive modeling, high-throughput screening remains essential. Recently established biofoundries provide an emerging infrastructure to accelerate biological design-build-test-learn (DBTL) cycles through the integration of robotics, synthetic biology, and informatics. In this review, we first introduce the technical advances of build and test automation in synthetic biology, focusing on the use of industry-standard microplates for DNA assembly, chassis engineering, and enzyme and strain screening. Here, we discuss how basic research on the mechanism of CO2 binding and activation by carboxylases opened the way to develop new-to-nature CO2-fixing enzymes that found application in the development of synthetic CO2-fixation pathways and their further realization in vitro and in vivo. These pioneering efforts in the field pave the way to realize a diverse CO2-fixation biochemistry that can find application in biocatalysis, biotechnology, and artificial photosynthesis.
To perform a comprehensive dosimetric and clinical evaluation of the new Pinnacle Personalized automated planning system for complex head-and-neck treatments.
Fifteen consecutive head-neck patients were enrolled. Radiotherapy was prescribed using VMAT with simultaneous integrated boost strategy. Personalized planning integrates the Feasibility engine able to supply an "a priori" DVH prediction of the achievability of planning goals. Comparison between clinically accepted manually-generated (MP) and automated (AP) plans was performed using dose-volume histograms and a blinded clinical evaluation by two radiation oncologists. Planning time between MP and AP was compared. Dose accuracy was validated using the PTW Octavius-4D phantom together with the 1500 2D-array.

Forty-two patients with periodontitis Stage IV Grade C and 33 controls were recruited. All patients with periodontitis had unsalvageable teeth and part of the wall of the periodontal pocket was resected and obtained after tooth extraction. All controls needed crown-lengthening surgery, and samples of gingiva resected during surgery were also harvested. All the individuals' gingivae were used for immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. In addition, gingivae from seventeen subjects of the diseased group and twelve subjects of the control group were analyzed by real-time PCR.

Currently, efficient genetic markers for diagnosis and treatment of ESCC are lacking. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are global genetic regulators that control cancer gene expression by binding to the 3'untranslated regions (3'UTRs) of targeting mRNAs. In addition, miRNAs function as oncogenes or tumor suppressors in the progression of tumors. In the current study, we found that hsa-miR-875-5p (miR-875-5p) exhibited amplification in ESCC according to the TCGA database. Then, xCELLigence Real-Time Cell Analyzer (RTCA)-MP system and colony formation assays were employed to detect cell proliferationand colony formationability. The results showed that miR-875-5p promoted the proliferation ESCC cells. Subsequently, transwell results indicated that miR-875-5p promoted the invasion and migration of ESCC cells. Furthermore, we showed that miR-875-5p was able to bind to CAPZA13'UTR, which contains the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), rs373245753, as reported in our previous study involving WGS and WES on ESCC.

The histone modification (HM) profile patterns of different modes of gene duplication, including the whole genome duplication, proximal duplication, tandem duplication and transposed duplication were characterized based on ChIP-chip or ChIP-seq datasets. In this study, 10 distinct HM marks including H2Bub, H3K4me1, H3K4me2, H3K4me3, H3K9ac, H3K9me2, H3K27me1, H3K27me3, H3K36me3 and H3K14ac were analyzed. Moreover, the features of gene duplication with different HM patterns were characterized based on 88 RNA-seq datasets of . This study showed that duplicate genes in have a more similar HM pattern than single-copy genes in both their promoters and protein-coding regions. The optimal management of below the knee pathology remains one of the most challenging areas for revascularization in patients presenting with critical limb threatening ischemia. Patients commonly have multilevel lesions and have a high amputation rate and associated mortality. This review aimed to assess the outcomes of below the knee revascularization strategies.
An online literature search of medical databases for original articles or review articles was conducted using mesh terms.
Bypass surgery remains the gold standard for revascularization with good long-term outcomes with regards to patency, limb salvage, and quality of life but is associated with a higher morbidity than the endovascular approach. Given the increasing frailty of our patients, endovascular treatments have become the preferred strategy with results that are now equal to bypass. Hybrid surgery is an increasingly popular option as it combines the benefits of both endovascular and open surgery and although the evidence base is small the outcomes are encouraging.
Hybrid surgery offers promising results and could be considered in the treatment of multi-level lower limb arterial disease especially in high-risk patients or those who are not suitable for either open or endovascular techniques as a sole treatment modality.

Titanium and titanium alloys (TTA) are the gold standard for endo-osseus dental implants production, thanks to their biocompatibility, resistance to corrosion and mechanical properties. The characteristics of the TTA implant surface seem to be particularly relevant in the early phase of osseointegration. Furthermore, the microstructure of implant surface can largely influence the bone remodelling at the level of the bone-implant surface. Recently, research has stated on the long-term of both survival and success rates of osseointegrated implants and mainly on biomechanical aspects, such as load distribution and biochemical and histological processes at the bone-implant interface. This short review reports recent knowledge on chemical and mechanical properties, biological aspects, innovations in preventing peri-implantitis, describing clinical applications and recent improvements of TTA dental implants. In addition, it highlights current knowledge about a new implant coating that has been demonstrated to reduce the number of initially adhering bacteria and peri-implantitis.Helicobacter pylori bacteria (HPB) is one of the most common gastric infections in the world. It seems that HPB infects the subject early in life and is transmitted from person to person. The oral cavity could be a reservoir of HPB participating in infection transmission. HPB and recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) show similar clinical and histological findings, and the discovery of HPB in RAS ulcers support the idea of a correlation between the two diseases. Another important relationship between RAS and HPB is the high incidence of anemia in patients with RAS that may be caused by HPB. In fact, antibiotic therapy and treatment of anemia can reduce the frequency of RAS ulcer recurrence. HPB is considered a carcinogenic agent type 1 of the stomach. In conclusion, the oral cavity is an extra-gastric reservoir of HPB and periodontal therapy associated with systemic therapy can better eradicate HPB from the mucosa of all gastro-enteric tract. A possible link between E. gingivalis and GP has never been demonstrated completely, however E. gingivalis is infrequently found in people without GP. In addition, there is evidence that E. gingivalis could favour the onset and progression of GP. In conclusion, we can assert that E. gingivalis and GP may be correlated. Indole and indoline rings are important pharmacophoric scaffolds found in marketed drugs, agrochemicals, and biologically active molecules. The [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction is a versatile strategy for constructing architecturally interesting, sp3-rich cyclobutane-fused scaffolds with potential applications in drug discovery programs. A general platform for visible-light mediated intermolecular [2 + 2] cycloaddition of indoles with alkenes has been realized. A substrate-based screening approach led to the discovery of tert-butyloxycarbonyl (Boc)-protected indole-2-carboxyesters as suitable motifs for the intermolecular [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction. Significantly, the reaction proceeds in good yield with a wide variety of both activated and unactivated alkenes, including those containing free amines and alcohols, and the transformation exhibits excellent regio- and diastereoselectivity. Moreover, the scope of the indole substrate is very broad, extending to previously unexplored azaindole heterocycles that collectively afford fused cyclobutane containing scaffolds that offer unique properties with functional handles and vectors suitable for further derivatization. The reaction temperature was relatively lower than that observed for pure naphthalene, suggesting that the reaction temperature is considerably lowered when nitrogen atoms exist in the aromatic ring structure. The polymerization reaction largely progresses without significant change in the N/C ratio. Three types of dimerization are identified; naphthylation, exact dimerization, and dimerization with hydrogenation as determined from the gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry analysis of soluble products. Infrared spectra suggest that hydrogenation products were likely to be formed with sp3 carbon and NH bonding. Solid-state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance reveals that the sp3/sp2 ratio is 0.14 in both the insoluble solids synthesized at 0.5 and 1.5 GPa. The potential energy parameters derived for the PEFs directly provide a comparison of the relative magnitudes of the anomeric effect for molecules possessing OCO, OCS, OCSe, SCS, SCSe, and SeCSe linkages. The torsional potential energies produced by the anomeric effect for these linkages were estimated to range from 5.97 to 1.91 kcal/mol. The ab initio calculations also yielded the structural parameters, barriers to planarity, and ring-puckering angles for each of the 12 molecules studied. Based on the refined structural parameters for 1,3-dioxole and 1,3-benzodioxole, improved PEFs for these molecules were also calculated. In addition, the 13C NMR chemical shifts for encapsulated methane molecules also showed regular changes during the fusion of water-cage clusters.
Indole and indoline rings are important pharmacophoric scaffolds found in marketed drugs, agrochemicals, and biologically active molecules. The [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction is a versatile strategy for constructing architecturally interesting, sp3-rich cyclobutane-fused scaffolds with potential applications in drug discovery programs. A general platform for visible-light mediated intermolecular [2 + 2] cycloaddition of indoles with alkenes has been realized. A substrate-based screening approach led to the discovery of tert-butyloxycarbonyl (Boc)-protected indole-2-carboxyesters as suitable motifs for the intermolecular [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction. Significantly, the reaction proceeds in good yield with a wide variety of both activated and unactivated alkenes, including those containing free amines and alcohols, and the transformation exhibits excellent regio- and diastereoselectivity. Moreover, the scope of the indole substrate is very broad, extending to previously unexplored azaindole heterocycles that collectively afford fused cyclobutane containing scaffolds that offer unique properties with functional handles and vectors suitable for further derivatization. The polymerization progressed significantly at temperatures above 573 K at 0.5 GPa and above 623 K at 1.5 GPa. The reaction temperature was relatively lower than that observed for pure naphthalene, suggesting that the reaction temperature is considerably lowered when nitrogen atoms exist in the aromatic ring structure. The polymerization reaction largely progresses without significant change in the N/C ratio. Three types of dimerization are identified; naphthylation, exact dimerization, and dimerization with hydrogenation as determined from the gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry analysis of soluble products. Infrared spectra suggest that hydrogenation products were likely to be formed with sp3 carbon and NH bonding. Solid-state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance reveals that the sp3/sp2 ratio is 0.14 in both the insoluble solids synthesized at 0.5 and 1.5 GPa. Not only the dimers but also soluble heavier oligomers and insoluble polymers formed through more extensive polymerization. The potential energy parameters derived for the PEFs directly provide a comparison of the relative magnitudes of the anomeric effect for molecules possessing OCO, OCS, OCSe, SCS, SCSe, and SeCSe linkages. The torsional potential energies produced by the anomeric effect for these linkages were estimated to range from 5.97 to 1.91 kcal/mol. The ab initio calculations also yielded the structural parameters, barriers to planarity, and ring-puckering angles for each of the 12 molecules studied. Based on the refined structural parameters for 1,3-dioxole and 1,3-benzodioxole, improved PEFs for these molecules were also calculated. The current study aims to develop a safe and highly immunogenic COVID-19 vaccine. The novel combination of a DNA vaccine encoding the full-length Spike (S) protein of SARS-CoV-2 and a recombinant S1 protein vaccine induced high level neutralizing antibody and T cell immune responses in both small and large animal models. More significantly, the co-delivery of DNA and protein components at the same time elicited full protection against intratracheal challenge of SARS-CoV-2 viruses in immunized rhesus macaques. As both DNA and protein vaccines have been proven safe in previous human studies, and DNA vaccines are capable of eliciting germinal center B cell development, which is critical for high-affinity memory B cell responses, the DNA and protein co-delivery vaccine approach has great potential to serve as a safe and effective approach to develop COVID-19 vaccines that provide long-term protection.The roles of fear of COVID-19 and religious coping were examined in relation to depression, anxiety, and stress. Participants (N = 259; 88% female; Mage = 32.96, SD = 8.88) completed measures of fear of COVID-19, religious coping, depression, anxiety, and stress. Results showed that fear of COVID-19 was associated with depression, anxiety, and stress. Negative religious coping was associated with depression, anxiety, and stress while positive religious coping was only associated with depression and stress. Fear of COVID-19 and negative religious coping may be detrimental to mental health while positive religious coping may reduce depression and stress.In this study, Li+ biosorption profiles of Micrococcus luteus and Bacillus pumilus bacterial strains were investigated. Comparative surface characterization of the biomasses revealed that B. pumilus had a significantly greater surface negativity than the other, which had a direct positive effect on the ability to attract the Li+ ions. Biosorption experiments showed that B. pumilus cell had more efficient performance at all pH and initial Li+ concentration values in the ranges of 3.0-10.0 and 2.5-20.0 mg/L, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacities obtained at initial Li+ concentration of 20.0 mg/L and pH 9.0 were 1.160 mg Li+/g (167.1 µmol/g) and 2.280 mg Li+/g (328.5 µmol/g) for M. luteus and B. pumilus, respectively. For all the cases studied, the biosorption equilibrium was reached very quickly, suggesting that physical interaction dominated this process. Experimental data were found to be compatible with both Langmuir and Freundlich models under the studied experimental conditions. This study highlights the idea that B. pumilus bacterial strain will be a new and preferred biosorbent for Li+ ions by providing a low cost, rapid and quite efficient process.
This study evaluated the efficacy of using a hybrid closed loop (HCL) system in restoring hypoglycemia awareness in individuals with impaired awareness of hypoglycemia (IAH).
Participants with IAH (Gold Score ≥4) were recruited into a randomized crossover pilot study. They participated in two 8-week periods using a HCL system (Medtronic 670GTM) (intervention) and standard insulin pump therapy (control). Hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemic clamp studies were undertaken at baseline and at the end of each study period for the evaluation of the counter-regulatory hormonal and symptomatic responses to hypoglycemia.
Seventeen participants (mean age (SD) 35.8y (11.2y)) were included in the study. Peak epinephrine levels (median, IQR) in response to hypoglycemia were similar post intervention and control periods; 234.7 pmol/L (109.2; 938.9) vs 188.3 pmol/L (133.7; 402.9), p=0.233. However, both peak adrenergic and neuroglycopenic symptom scores were higher after intervention; 5.0 (4.5; 9.0) vs 4.0 (4.0; 5.5), p=0.009uggest the potential benefits of a HCL system in people with IAH.Background Patients with breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) have lower quality of life (QOL). Data were collected before treatment, including sociodemographic characteristics (height, heaviness, age, education level, work status, marital status, and economic status), clinical characteristics (surgical method, clinical cancer stage, lymphedema severity, and lymphedema duration), the hospital anxiety (HA) and depression scale, and the functional assessment of cancer therapy-breast quality of life instrument. Univariate analysis or bivariate correlation was first made to explore the correlation of QOL with sociodemographic/clinical characteristics, anxiety, and depression. The multiple linear regression model was used to identify the independent QOL predictors. Seventy-one patients with BCRL were recruited. There were no significant differences between the volume means or the mean absolute or relative differences measured by each method. Good correlation was observed between the volume of upper limbs for both the left (r = 0.998) and right (r = 0.985) arms. As for the diagnosis of lymphedema, an absolute volume difference >200 mL determined a prevalence of 28% (13/46) of lymphedema by indirect volumetry and 35% (16/46) by optoelectronics volumetry.

This paper discusses the anticancer activity of luteolin against a number of cancers including leukemias, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, melanoma, liver, gastric, and brain cancer. Strong emphasis has been laid on key molecular mechanisms impacted by luteolin for exerting antineoplastic effect. Importantly, certain epigenetic targets like histone deacetylases (HDACs), DNA methylation regulator enzymes that are influenced by this befitting flavone for inducing cytotoxicity in certain preclinical cancer models, have also been made the part of this review. Additionally, the significantly improved therapeutic benefits of luteolin in combination with other therapeutics are comprehensively discussed. The current loopholes in luteolin research are also considered, which may open novel routes for further valuable studies on this promising flavone.
To identify whether chemoradiotherapy improves survival in patients with stage T3-4N0M0 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
The data of patients with stage T3-4N0M0 NPC were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database between 2004 and 2016. The patients were divided into radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy groups. Overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were assessed using the Kaplan-Meier method and propensity score matching (PSM) analyses.
We examined 496 patients 88 who received radiotherapy and 408 who received chemoradiotherapy. Before PSM, chemoradiotherapy was associated with a better 5-year OS (52.58% vs. 38.13%; P=.005) and similar CSS (63.62% vs. 59.26%; P=.196) compared to those associated with radiotherapy. However, chemoradiotherapy was not an independent prognostic factor for OS [hazard ratio (HR)=0.95, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.68-1.32; P=.760] or CSS (HR=1.02, 95% CI 0.66-1.56; P=.935). After PSM, similar OS (45.15% vs. 42.78%; P=.626) and CSS (58.22% vs. 60.37%; P=.730) were found between the radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy groups.

To evaluate the diagnostic performance of fluorescent voided urine cytology (FVUC) using a novel automated detection technology to screen for primary bladder cancer and for surveillance of recurrent bladder tumour.
We created a rapid, objective, automated, and high-throughput detection device for hexylaminolevulinate-mediated FVUC, named the cellular fluorescence analysis unit-II (CFAU-II). Two different cohorts were used in this study (i) screening test for primary bladder cancer (165 patients with bladder cancer and 52 controls), and (ii) surveillance test for detecting intravesical recurrent tumour (192 patients with treated non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer and 15 with post-nephroureterectomy upper urinary tract cancer). Voided urine samples were subjected to urine analysis, conventional VUC (cVUC), and FVUC. Diagnostic performance was compared between cVUC, FVUC, and a combination of the two.
A total of 614 urine samples were successfully collected, processed, and analysed. Comparative analysis ofur detection. It is essential to confirm the clinical usefulness of this method via further large-scale studies, in addition to ensuring its affordability and availability.

A mixed-methods research design.
A representative randomly sampled 840 (age range 22-46years) HIV-positive pregnant women in Akwa Ibom, Benue, and Rivers States of Nigeria enrolled for the study. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires and in-depth interviews for 4months and 3weeks in 6 HIV treatment centres. Collected data were analysed using IBM SPSS statistics (v. 22.0) and thematic analysis.
The mean score on psychological distress was 17.07±5.86. Multiple regression analysis found a significant joint prediction of meaning in life, self-compassion, and acceptance of illness on psychological distress, R=.64,R

Further, there was a significant independent prediction of each predictor at meaning in life (β=-.19,t=-5.08; p=.000), self-compassion (β=-.23,t=-5.59;p=.000), and acceptance of illness (β=-.30,t=-7.23;p=.000), with acceptance of illness exerting the greatest independent predictive impact. This paper discusses the anticancer activity of luteolin against a number of cancers including leukemias, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, melanoma, liver, gastric, and brain cancer. Strong emphasis has been laid on key molecular mechanisms impacted by luteolin for exerting antineoplastic effect. Importantly, certain epigenetic targets like histone deacetylases (HDACs), DNA methylation regulator enzymes that are influenced by this befitting flavone for inducing cytotoxicity in certain preclinical cancer models, have also been made the part of this review. To identify whether chemoradiotherapy improves survival in patients with stage T3-4N0M0 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The data of patients with stage T3-4N0M0 NPC were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database between 2004 and 2016. The patients were divided into radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy groups. Overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were assessed using the Kaplan-Meier method and propensity score matching (PSM) analyses. We examined 496 patients 88 who received radiotherapy and 408 who received chemoradiotherapy. Before PSM, chemoradiotherapy was associated with a better 5-year OS (52.58% vs. 38.13%; P=.005) and similar CSS (63.62% vs. 59.26%; P=.196) compared to those associated with radiotherapy. However, chemoradiotherapy was not an independent prognostic factor for OS [hazard ratio (HR)=0.95, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.68-1.32; P=.760] or CSS (HR=1.02, 95% CI 0.66-1.56; P=.935). After PSM, similar OS (45.15% vs. 42.78%; P=.626) and CSS (58.22% vs. 60.37%; P=.730) were found between the radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy groups. The optimal surgical modality for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with bile duct tumor thrombus (BDTT) remains controversial, especially regarding deciding whether to perform concurrent bile duct resection (BDR).
PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Scopus databases were systematically searched from inception to February 2020, in order to compare overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) rates of HCC patients with BDTT who had either received hepatectomy with extrahepatic bile duct resection (BDR group) or hepatectomy without bile duct resection (NBDR group). Relevant outcomes were extracted by two investigators.
A total of 12 studies involving 355 patients was included. The 1-, 3- and 5-year OS rates were similar in the BDR and NBDR groups (OR =0.58, 95% CI 0.31-1.09, P=0.09; OR =0.74, 95% CI 0.43-1.28, P=0.28; OR =0.63, 95% CI 0.36-1.11, P=0.11, respectively). The bone protection effect of MF was studied by microscopic computed tomography (micro-CT) and histological analysis of the knee joint. The effects of MF on chondrocytes in CIA rats were studied by detecting the relevant pro-apoptotic mediators in the chondrocytes.
After administration of MF in CIA rats, systemic inflammation and synovitis caused by arthritis were significantly suppressed. Histomorphometry and micro-CT analysis of the knee joint revealed that MF can protect bone by inhibiting the changes of trabecular bone in CIA rats. Histological analysis of the knee joint found that MF can inhibit osteoclast formation and degradation of the cartilage layer matrix. Detection of the relevant pro-apoptotic mediators in chondrocytes revealed that MF can significantly inhibit the apoptosis of chondrocytes in CIA rats.

This study aimed to evaluate the predictive diagnostic value of Hull airway reflux questionnaire (HARQ) and its combination with gastroesophageal reflux disease questionnaire (GerdQ) for GERC.
Chronic cough patients were enrolled and the diagnosis of GERC was established according to the chronic cough diagnosis and treatment process. The diagnostic value of HARQ and GerdQ alone or the combination of HARQ and GerdQ was analyzed.
A total of 402 patients with chronic cough were eventually enrolled, including 166 GERC patients. When the HARQ score was used to predict the diagnosis of GERC, the area under the ROC curve was 0.796. The sensitivity and specificity were 77.19% and 77.06%, respectively. However, employing MOF-derived metal phosphides as positive and negative electrode materials for supercapacitors has scarcely been reported thus far. Herein, two types of MOFs are used as the precursors to prepare CoP and FeP4 nanocubes through a two-step controllable heat treatment process. Due to the advantages of composition and structure, the specific capacitances of FeP4 and CoP nanocubes reach 345 and 600 F g-1 at the current density of 1 A g-1 , respectively. Moreover, a quasi-solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor is assembled based on charge matching principle by employing CoP and FeP4 nanocubes as the positive and negative electrodes, respectively, which exhibits a high energy density of 46.38 Wh kg-1 at the power density of 695 W kg-1 . Furthermore, a solar-charging power system is assembled by combining the quasi-solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor and monocrystalline silicon plates, substantiating that the device can power the toy electric fan. This work paves a practical way toward the rational design of quasi-solid-state asymmetry supercapacitors systems affording favorable energy density and long lifespan.
The prevalence of autonomic neuropathy (AN) is high in patients with hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis but remains unknown in transthyretin wild-type cardiac amyloidosis (ATTRwt-CA). This study aimed to determine the prevalence of AN in patients with ATTRwt-CA using Sudoscan®, a non-invasive method used to provide evidence of AN in clinical practice and based on measurement of electrochemical skin conductance at the hands and feet (fESC).
A series of 62 non-diabetic patients with ATTRwt-CA was prospectively included over 2years and compared with healthy elderly subjects, matched by age, gender, and body mass index. The presence of AN was defined as electrochemical skin conductance at the hands <60μS and/or fESC <70μS, and conductances were analysed according to clinical, biological, and echocardiographic data. Mean fESC was significantly lower in patients with ATTRwt-CA compared with elderly controls 68.3 (64.1-72.5) vs. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/ds-6051b.html 76.9 (75.6-78.1) μS (P<0.0001), respectively. Prevalence of fESC <70μS was higher in ATTRwt-CA patients than in controls 48.4% vs. 19.9%, P<0.05. Univariate analysis showed that fESC, N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide, creatinine plasma levels, and echocardiographic global longitudinal strain were associated with decompensated cardiac failure and death. Multivariate analysis revealed that fESC was an independent prognostic factor, and Kaplan-Meier estimator evidenced a greater occurrence of cardiac decompensation and death in patients with fESC <70μS, P=0.046.

Some of these mechanical operations can be implemented by applying mechanical force at specific points of the crystal to fabricate advanced crystalline optical junctions. Mechanically compliant flexible optical crystals are ideal candidates for the designing of such microoptical junctions. A vapor-phase growth of naturally **** optical waveguiding crystals of 1,4-bis(2-cyanophenylethynyl)benzene (1) on a surface forming different optical junctions is presented. In the solid-state, molecule 1 interacts with its neighbors via CH⋅⋅⋅N hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking. The microcrystals deposited at a glass surface exhibit moderate flexibility due to substantial surface adherence energy. The obtained network crystals also display mechanical compliance when cut precisely with sharp atomic force microscope cantilever tip, making them ideal candidates for building innovative T- and Δ-shaped optical junctions with multiple outputs. The presented micromechanical processing technique can also be effectively used as a tool to fabricate single-crystal integrated photonic devices and circuits on suitable substrates.
To evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy and wound healing effect of atmospheric pressure cold plasma (APCP) on an infected pressure ulcer (IPUs) model that was created on rats.
A total of 18 rats was divided into APCP, silver sulfadiazine (AgS) and control groups to have six rats in each group. A third-grade pressure ulcer model was developed on the **** of each of the rats, and pressure ulcers were infected by inoculation of multidrug resistance (MDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A portable dielectric barrier discharge device was used to generate cold air plasma. APCP, AgS and saline treatments were carried out once a day for 14days. The effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated on days 5, 10 and 15. Surface area, depth, pressure ulcer healing scale (PUSH) and microbiological examination were used for evaluation.
The results of this study showed that APCP was superior over AgS application and irrigation with saline by means of the reduction in surface area and depth of ulcers. Furthermore, PUSH score in plasma group was lower than other groups and histopathological examination showed a higher epithelization in APCP group. The average reductions of MDR P. aeruginosa for APCP, AgS and control groups were determined as 5·64±1·87, 1·91±0·90 and 1·22±0·88 log10 CFU per gram tissue, respectively.

Some of these mechanical operations can be implemented by applying mechanical force at specific points of the crystal to fabricate advanced crystalline optical junctions. Mechanically compliant flexible optical crystals are ideal candidates for the designing of such microoptical junctions. A vapor-phase growth of naturally bent optical waveguiding crystals of 1,4-bis(2-cyanophenylethynyl)benzene (1) on a surface forming different optical junctions is presented. In the solid-state, molecule 1 interacts with its neighbors via CH⋅⋅⋅N hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking. The microcrystals deposited at a glass surface exhibit moderate flexibility due to substantial surface adherence energy. The obtained network crystals also display mechanical compliance when cut precisely with sharp atomic force microscope cantilever tip, making them ideal candidates for building innovative T- and Δ-shaped optical junctions with multiple outputs. To evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy and wound healing effect of atmospheric pressure cold plasma (APCP) on an infected pressure ulcer (IPUs) model that was created on rats. A total of 18 rats was divided into APCP, silver sulfadiazine (AgS) and control groups to have six rats in each group. A third-grade pressure ulcer model was developed on the back of each of the rats, and pressure ulcers were infected by inoculation of multidrug resistance (MDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A portable dielectric barrier discharge device was used to generate cold air plasma. APCP, AgS and saline treatments were carried out once a day for 14days. The effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated on days 5, 10 and 15. Surface area, depth, pressure ulcer healing scale (PUSH) and microbiological examination were used for evaluation. The results of this study showed that APCP was superior over AgS application and irrigation with saline by means of the reduction in surface area and depth of ulcers. Furthermore, PUSH score in plasma group was lower than other groups and histopathological examination showed a higher epithelization in APCP group. The average reductions of MDR P. aeruginosa for APCP, AgS and control groups were determined as 5·64±1·87, 1·91±0·90 and 1·22±0·88 log10 CFU per gram tissue, respectively. Atmospheric pressure cold plasma healed IPUs better than AgS. Portable cold plasma devices could be a potential novel treatment modality for the patients who have IPUs.
