Binding of rexinoid and GRIP-1 resulted in a combined 50% increase in unfolding enthalpy, consistent with reduced structural fluidity and more compact folding observed in other published structural studies. In particular, the corresponding overpotential was effectively enhanced by 211 mV (at a current density of 10 mA cm-2) with the assistance of DMAP. The environmental interference from temperature fluctuations is successfully eliminated by controlling the charge transport in nanoparticles with thermally expandable polymer substrates. Notably, the negative temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR), which originates from the hopping transport in nanoparticle arrays, is compensated by the positive TCR of the effective surface thermal expansion with anchoring effects. This strategy successfully controls the TCR from negative to positive. A near-zero TCR (NZTCR), less than 1.0 × 10-6 K-1, is achieved through precisely controlled expansion. Various characterization methods and finite element and transport simulations are conducted to investigate the correlated electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties of the materials and elucidate the compensated NZTCR mechanism. With this strategy, an all-solution-processed, transparent, highly sensitive, and noninterference strain sensor is fabricated with a gauge factor higher than 5000 at 1% strain, as demonstrated by pulse and motion sensing, as well as the noninterference property under variable-temperature conditions. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of aerial parts of Cannabis sativa L. on the cholinesterases and β-secretase enzymes activities as one of the possible mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease.
The phytochemical and heavy metal contents were analysed. The extracts were screened for acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase and β-secretase activity. Cytotoxicity of extracts was performed in normal vero and pre-adipocytes cell lines. The extracts were characterized using high-performance thin layer chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography for their chemical fingerprints. Alkaloids, flavonoids and glycosides were present amongst the tested phytochemicals. Cannabidiol concentrations were comparatively high in the hexane and dichloromethane than in dichloromethane methanol (11) and methanol extracts.
Hexane and dichloromethane extracts showed a better inhibitory potential towards cholinesterase activity, while water, hexane, dichloromethane methanol (11) and methanol showed an inhibitory potential towards β-secretase enzyme activity. All extracts showed no cytotoxic effect on pre-adipocytes and vero cells after 24- and 48-hours of exposure.

Serratia spp. is a common enteric bacterium generally thought not to be pathogenic in the gastrointestinal tract. Serratia marcescens is a member of the genus Serratia, which is a part of the family Enterobacteriales. Of all Serratia species, S. marcescens is the most common clinical isolate and the most important human pathogen.
We discuss here four cases of Serratia marcescens which were reported in our laboratory at the Department of Microbiology Government Medical College and Hospital Chandigarh within six months of duration.
All the samples were processed and identified using standard microbiological techniques. The isolates of Serratia marcescens were identified, depending upon their biochemical and morphological characteristics, and further confirmed by MALDI-TOF-MS, PGIMER Chandigarh.
In one of the four cases, polymicrobial infection was observed, and among the cases, one patient was diabetic and the rest three patients were immunocompetent. The importance of detection of Serratia marcescens is related to the concern regarding its increased spread in hospital settings as nosocomial infection.
We need to identify and isolate this pathogen not thinking of it only as a contaminant and opportunistic pathogen but as a pathogen which can lead to serious infections in hospital settings.

However, the molecular test for BCR-ABL is costly and hardly available in developing countries with low and middle-income. The aim of the study was to measure in different surgeries the levels of copeptin and melatonin at different times before and after surgery in 56 patients aged from 5 days to 13.6 years. We measured copeptin in 50-microL serum and plasma samples from patients before surgery, immediately after surgery, and 24 hours after surgery. The measured levels are aligned with the published GC / MS data, and the sensitivity of the analysis is such that serum and plasma levels can only be measured by rapid extraction. Little is known about return-to-work (RTW) among Asian head and neck cancer (HNC) survivors. We investigated the prevalence and factors associated with RTW among HNC patients with in Singapore.
In this cross-sectional mixed-methods study, 80 HNC patients, who had been working prior to diagnosis, completed questionnaires and 15 participated in qualitative interviews to explore perceived barriers and facilitators of RTW. Multivariate logistic regression was used to evaluate factors associated with not-returning-to-work (NRTW) within 6 months of treatment completion.
Thirty-five participants reported NRTW 43.8%. Multivariable analysis showed that patients with advanced stage (III-IV) cancer (odds ratios [OR] = 4.51, 95% confidence intervals [CI] 1.15-13.28, p = 0.006), multi-modality treatment (OR = 4.62, 95% CI 1.38-15.52, p = 0.013), and pink-collar jobs (OR = 9.30, 95% CI 1.70-50.83, p = 0.010) had higher odds of NRTW.

Little is known about return-to-work (RTW) among Asian head and neck cancer (HNC) survivors. We investigated the prevalence and factors associated with RTW among HNC patients with in Singapore. In this cross-sectional mixed-methods study, 80 HNC patients, who had been working prior to diagnosis, completed questionnaires and 15 participated in qualitative interviews to explore perceived barriers and facilitators of RTW. Multivariate logistic regression was used to evaluate factors associated with not-returning-to-work (NRTW) within 6 months of treatment completion. Thirty-five participants reported NRTW 43.8%. Multivariable analysis showed that patients with advanced stage (III-IV) cancer (odds ratios [OR] = 4.51, 95% confidence intervals [CI] 1.15-13.28, p = 0.006), multi-modality treatment (OR = 4.62, 95% CI 1.38-15.52, p = 0.013), and pink-collar jobs (OR = 9.30, 95% CI 1.70-50.83, p = 0.010) had higher odds of NRTW. This study sought to examine whether the experience of occupational injuries was associated with depressive symptoms and whether the rejection of workers' compensation claims was associated with depressive symptoms among Korean firefighters.
We conducted a nationwide survey of 6793 Korean firefighters in 2015. Based on the experience of occupational injuries and workers' compensation claims over the past year, respondents were classified into four groups "Not injured", "Injured, not applied", "Injured, applied, but rejected" and "Injured, applied, and accepted." Depressive symptoms over the preceding week were assessed using the 11-item version of the Centers for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale.
Compared to firefighters who did not get injured, injured firefighters had a higher prevalence of depressive symptoms (PR 2.01, 95% CI 1.83, 2.22) after controlling for confounders including job assignment. Also, when we restricted the analysis to injured firefighters, a higher prevalence of depressive symptoms was observed among "Injured, applied, but rejected" (PR 1.70, 95% CI 1.11, 2.59) group, compared to "Injured, applied, and accepted" group.
This finding suggests that rejection of workers' compensation claims, as well as the experience of occupational injuries, may increase the risk of depressive symptoms among Korean firefighters.

Insomnia and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are among the most prevalent sleep disorders and frequently co-occur, defining the sleepapnea-insomnia syndrome. However, data exploring associations between insomnia and lifestyle habits in patients with OSA are lacking. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate potential associations between insomnia presence and individual lifestyle parameters in patients with mild/moderate-to-severe OSA evaluated by attended polysomnography.
These are secondary analyses, using data from a cross-sectional study among 269 Greek patients with OSA. Clinical, anthropometric, socioeconomic, and lifestyle data were collected for all participants. Insomnia presence was evaluated through the validated psychometric instrument "Athens Insomnia Scale" (AIS). Adherence to the Mediterranean diet was estimated with the MedDietScale index and physical activity habits were assessed through a validated questionnaire. Backward stepwise multiple logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the association between lifestyle habits (i.e., adherence to the Mediterranean diet and physical activity) and the likelihood of having insomnia, while adjusting for potential confounders.
Of 269 patientsnewly diagnosed withOSA (aged 21-70 years; 73% men), 146 (54%) were categorized as having insomnia. In multivariable models, higher adherence to the Mediterranean diet and engagement in physical activity for ≥ 30 min/day were both associated with a lower likelihood of having insomnia (odds ratio (95% confidence intervals) 0.40 (0.18-0.91) and 0.49 (0.28-0.86), respectively).

Although the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) QLQ-PAN26 is widely used to assess health-related quality of life (HRQoL), its group-level minimal important difference (MID) and individual-level responder definition (RD) are not established; we calculated MID and RD using HRQoL data from the APACT trial in patients with surgically resected pancreatic cancer who received adjuvant chemotherapy.
HRQoL was assessed using EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-PAN26 at baseline, during treatment, at end of treatment, and during follow-up. Distribution-based MIDs were estimated using 0.5 × baseline standard deviation (SD) and reliability-based (intraclass correlation) standard error of measurement (SEM). Anchor-based MIDs and RDs (anchor, QLQ-C30 overall health) were estimated using a linear mixed model.
Overall, 772 patients completed the baseline assessment. Distribution-based MIDs (0.5 × SD) for QLQ-PAN26 scales ranged from 12 to 13, except hepatic symptoms (≈8), pancreatic pain (≈10), and sexual dysfunction (≈17); those for stand-alone items ranged from 12 to 16. The SEM values were similar. Black women with breast cancer have a worse overall survival compared with White women; however, no difference in Oncotype DX™ (ODX) recurrence scores has been observed to explain this health disparity. Black women are also disproportionately affected by insulin resistance. We evaluated whether insulin resistance is associated with a higher ODX recurrence score and whether there is a difference between White and Black women to explain disparate clinical outcomes.
A subgroup analysis of patients in a multi-institutional cross-sectional study evaluating differences in insulin resistance between White and Black women was performed. Women diagnosed with a new hormone receptor-positive, HER2/neu-negative breast cancer with an ODX recurrence score were identified. Fasting blood glucose and insulin measurements were used to calculate the homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) score, a method for assessing insulin resistance, and compared against ODX scores.
Overall, 412 women (358 White women, 54 Black women) were identified.

The Japanese archipelago is located at the periphery of the continent of Asia. Rivers in the Japanese archipelago, separated from the continent of Asia by about 17 Ma, have experienced an intermittent exchange of freshwater fish taxa through a narrow land bridge generated by lowered sea level. As the Korean Peninsula and Japanese archipelago were not covered by an ice sheet during glacial periods, phylogeographical analyses in this region can trace the history of biota that were, for a long time, beyond the last glacial maximum. In this study, we analyzed the phylogeography of four freshwater fish taxa, Hemibarbus longirostris, dark chub Nipponocypris temminckii, Tanakia ssp. and Carassius ssp., whose distributions include both the Korean Peninsula and Western Japan. We found for each taxon that a small component of diverse Korean clades of freshwater fishes migrated in waves into the Japanese archipelago to form the current phylogeographic structure of biota. The replacements of indigenous populations by succeeding migrants may have also influenced the phylogeography.
Neurological alterations are one of the main complications occurring after the third molar extractions. The aim of this prospective multicenter cohort study was to find out Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) features and distribution of neurological complications in patients undergoing lower third molar surgery and to determine the radiological and patient-related factors that could be correlated to the occurrence of inferior alveolar and lingual nerves injury.
378 patients who underwent lower third molar extraction from March 2018 to March 2019 were included. Clinical and radiological data were collected. CBCT features were recorded following Maglione et al. classification. Symptoms and characteristics of patients who experienced neurological alterations were evaluated.
193 patients needed a second-level radiological exam (CBCT). In these patients, the most common feature was Maglione class 3 a higher frequency of apical or buccal mandibular canals in direct contact with the tooth was observed. 3.17% of the patients developed a neurological complication. Maglione class 4, increased age, and operative time were all positively correlated with neurological alterations.

The eligible non-hypertensive subjects (n = 3,396,187) among the National Health Insurance Service-National Health Screening (NHIS-HEALS) examinees (n = 10,644,911) in 2009 were followed up until 2015. A Cox proportional hazards regression was used to estimate the risk of the high blood glucose level for the incident hypertension while controlling for covariates' confounding effect. The cumulative incidence rate was 10.6% for seven years (11.6% in men and 8.3% in women). The incidence density was 1474.8 per 100,000 person-years. High fasting blood glucose (adjusted Hazard Ratio (aHR), 1.836; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.810 to 1.862), prediabetes (aHR, 1.249; 95% CI, 1.237 to 1.260), a history of diabetes mellitus (aHR, 1.635; 95% CI, 1.605 to 1.666), high triglyceride (aHR, 1.292; 95% CI, 1.280 to 1.303), a history of dyslipidemia (aHR, 1.279; 95% CI, 1.253 to 1.305) and prehypertension group (aHR, 1.964; 95% CI, 1.948 to 1.979) were significantly related to the incident hypertension after adjusting for covariates. Healthcare information includes sensitive data and, as such, must be secure; however, the risk of healthcare information leakage is increasing. Nurses manage healthcare information in hospitals; however, previous studies have either been conducted on medical workers from various other occupations or have not synthesized various factors. The purpose of this study was to create and prove a model of nurses' healthcare information security (HIS). The hypothetical model used in this study was constructed on the basis of the protection motivation theory (PMT) proposed by Rogers.
A total of 252 questionnaires scored using a five-point Likert scale were analyzed, incorporating data from nurses who had been working for more than one month in general hospitals with more than 300 beds in South Korea. The survey was conducted over a total of 30 days, from 1 to 30 September 2019.
The results showed that coping appraisal significantly influence HIS intentions (estimate = -1.477,
< 0.01), whereas HIS intentions significantly influence HIS behavior (estimate = 0.515,
< 0.001). A moderating effect on the association between coping appraisal and HIS intentions was found in the group of nurses who had been working for <5 years (estimate = -1.820,

The Japanese archipelago is located at the periphery of the continent of Asia. Rivers in the Japanese archipelago, separated from the continent of Asia by about 17 Ma, have experienced an intermittent exchange of freshwater fish taxa through a narrow land bridge generated by lowered sea level. As the Korean Peninsula and Japanese archipelago were not covered by an ice sheet during glacial periods, phylogeographical analyses in this region can trace the history of biota that were, for a long time, beyond the last glacial maximum. In this study, we analyzed the phylogeography of four freshwater fish taxa, Hemibarbus longirostris, dark chub Nipponocypris temminckii, Tanakia ssp. and Carassius ssp., whose distributions include both the Korean Peninsula and Western Japan. We found for each taxon that a small component of diverse Korean clades of freshwater fishes migrated in waves into the Japanese archipelago to form the current phylogeographic structure of biota. The replacements of indigenous populations by succeeding migrants may have also influenced the phylogeography. Neurological alterations are one of the main complications occurring after the third molar extractions. The aim of this prospective multicenter cohort study was to find out Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) features and distribution of neurological complications in patients undergoing lower third molar surgery and to determine the radiological and patient-related factors that could be correlated to the occurrence of inferior alveolar and lingual nerves injury. 378 patients who underwent lower third molar extraction from March 2018 to March 2019 were included. Clinical and radiological data were collected. CBCT features were recorded following Maglione et al. classification. Symptoms and characteristics of patients who experienced neurological alterations were evaluated. 193 patients needed a second-level radiological exam (CBCT). In these patients, the most common feature was Maglione class 3 a higher frequency of apical or buccal mandibular canals in direct contact with the tooth was observed. 3.17% of the patients developed a neurological complication. The eligible non-hypertensive subjects (n = 3,396,187) among the National Health Insurance Service-National Health Screening (NHIS-HEALS) examinees (n = 10,644,911) in 2009 were followed up until 2015. A Cox proportional hazards regression was used to estimate the risk of the high blood glucose level for the incident hypertension while controlling for covariates' confounding effect. The cumulative incidence rate was 10.6% for seven years (11.6% in men and 8.3% in women). The incidence density was 1474.8 per 100,000 person-years. The purpose of this study was to create and prove a model of nurses' healthcare information security (HIS). The hypothetical model used in this study was constructed on the basis of the protection motivation theory (PMT) proposed by Rogers. A total of 252 questionnaires scored using a five-point Likert scale were analyzed, incorporating data from nurses who had been working for more than one month in general hospitals with more than 300 beds in South Korea. The survey was conducted over a total of 30 days, from 1 to 30 September 2019. The results showed that coping appraisal significantly influence HIS intentions (estimate = -1.477, < 0.01), whereas HIS intentions significantly influence HIS behavior (estimate = 0.515, < 0.001). A moderating effect on the association between coping appraisal and HIS intentions was found in the group of nurses who had been working for <5 years (estimate = -1.820, < 0.05). Moreover, a moderating effect on the association between HIS intentions and HIS behavior was found in the group of nurses who had been working for <5 years (estimate = 0.600, < 0.001). Non-pharmacological interventions (NPI), including lockdowns, have been used to address the COVID-19 pandemic. We describe changes in the environment and lifestyle of school children in Cyprus before the lockdown and during school re-opening, and assess compliance to NPI, using the exposome concept.
During June 2020, parents completed an online questionnaire about their children's lifestyle/behaviours for two periods; school re-opening (May 21-June 26) following the population-wide lockdown, and the school period before lockdown(before March).
Responses were received for 1509 children from over 180 primary schools. More than 72% of children complied with most NPI measures; however, only 48% decreased the number of vulnerable contacts at home. Sugary food consumption washigher in the post-lockdown period with 37% and 26% of the children eating sugary items daily and 4-6 times/week, compared to 33% and 19%, respectively, for the pre-lockdown period (
<0.001). Children's physical activity decreased compared to pre-lockdown (
<0.001), while screen time increased in the post-lockdown period, with 25% of children spending 4-7 hours/day in front of screens vs. 10% in the pre-lockdown period (
<0.001). About half of the children washed their hands with soap 4-7 times/day post-lockdown vs. 30% in the pre-lockdown period (
<0.001).
This national survey showed a high degree of compliance to NPI measures among school children. Furthermore, the exposome profile of children may be affected in the months following NPI measures due to alterations in diet, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and hand hygiene habits.

Worldwide, millions of women seek treatment for early pregnancy loss (EPL) annually. Medical management with misoprostol is widely used, but only effective 60% of the time. Pre-treatment with mifepristone prior to misoprostol might improve the success rate of medical management.
This was a multi-centre, double-blind, placebo-controlled randomised trial in 17 Dutch hospitals. Women with a non-viable pregnancy between 6 and 14 weeks of gestation were eligible for inclusion after at least one week of expectant management. Participants were randomised (11) between oral mifepristone 600mg or an oral placebo tablet. Participants took 400μg misoprostol orally, repeated after four hours on day two and, if necessary, day three. Primary outcome was expulsion of gestational sac and endometrial thickness <15mm after 6-8 weeks. Analyses were done according to intention-to-treat principles. This trial is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03212352.
Between June 28th 2018 and January 8th 2020, 175 women were randomised to mifepristone and 176 to placebo, including 344 in the intention-to-treat analysis. In the mifepristone group 136 (79•1%) of 172 participants reached complete evacuation compared to 101 (58•7%) of 172 participants in the placebo group (
<0•0001, RR 1•35, 95% CI 1•16-1•56). Incidence of serious adverse events was significantly lower in the mifepristone group with 24 (14%) patients affected versus 55 (32%) in the placebo group (

Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is a genetic disorder characterised by the development of benign tumours secondary to loss of inhibitory regulation of the mTOR (mechanistic Target of Rapamycin) intracellular growth pathway. Dengue is one of the most common vector-borne diseases globally, however, its burden is poorly quantified. Hence, we aimed to report the dengue burden in 195 countries and territories between 1990 and 2017, using data from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2017.
Following the methodology framework and analytical strategies used in the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017, we analysed the incidence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of dengue in geographically defined populations worldwide between 1990 and 2017. We also determined the association between development levels and dengue burden. All estimates were reported as numbers and rates per 100 000 population, with 95% uncertainty intervals.
Globally, the total number of dengue cases increased from 23 283 274 (95% UI 453 180.7-51 840 670) in 1990 to 104 771 911 (95% UI 63 759 019-158 870 031) in 2017. The age-standardised incidence rate increased from 431.6 (8.4-961.0) per 100 000 population in 1990 to 1371.

Individuals with hoarding disorder (HD) demonstrate exaggerated subjective distress and hyperactivation of cingulate and insular cortex regions when discarding personal possessions. No prior study has sought to determine whether this subjective distress is associated with specific profiles of abnormal brain function in individuals with HD.
We used multimodal canonical correlation analysis plus joint independent component analysis to test whether five hoarding-relevant domains of subjective distress when deciding to discard possessions (anxiety, sadness, monetary value, importance, and sentimental attachment) are associated with functional magnetic resonance imaging-measured whole-brain functional connectivity in 72 participants with HD and 44 healthy controls.
Three extracted components differed between HD participants and healthy control subjects. Each of these components depicted an abnormal profile of functional connectivity in HD participants relative to control subjects during discarding decisions, to abnormal functional connectivity in key frontal and emotional processing brain regions. The findings are discussed in terms of emerging neurobiological models of HD.Characterizing the physiological response to prolonged cold exposure is essential for understanding the maintenance of long-term energy balance. As part of their natural life cycle, temperate ectotherms are often exposed to seasonal variation in temperatures, including extended periods of cold well below their activity range. Relatively little is known about variation in physiological responses as vertebrate ectotherms enter and exit brumation in response to sustained cold temperatures. We tested the influence of temperature on physiology before, during, and after a simulated brumation in the checkered garter snake (Thamnophis marcianus), a widespread ectothermic vertebrate. We tested for the relative effect of immediate temperature and physiological context (entering or exiting brumation) on hormones regulating energy balance, indicators of energy availability, and resting metabolic rate (V̇O2). Plasma corticosterone, glucose, and insulin, as well as immune cell heterophil lymphocyte ratios responded to temperature, though they did so with different thermal response curves. Thermal sensitivity varied both among and within physiological measures depending on whether animals were going into or coming out of brumation. Additionally, V̇O2 was regulated beyond simple temperature-dependence, whereby post-brumation measures were depressed relative to pre-brumation measures at the same temperature. This pattern was characterized by a change in the temperature coefficient (Q10), with a larger pre-brumation Q10, suggesting reduced thermal sensitivity of metabolic rate following a period of extended cold exposure. The integrated physiological response presented here demonstrates not only temperature dependence across physiological axes, but seasonal variation in thermal responsiveness. Our results suggest that energy allocation decisions and hormonal regulation of underlying processes promote differing levels of thermal sensitivity when entering or exiting brumation.Considering the key role of the corpus luteum in the regulation of the canine diestrus, the present study aimed to investigate changes in the luteal transcriptome of pseudopregnant dogs (n = 18) from days (D) 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 post-ovulation. After RNAsequencing was performed, data was analyzed by resorting to several informatic tools. A total of 3300 genes were differently expressed among all samples (FDR less then 0.01). By comparing different time points, enriched biological processes as response to estradiol and lipids (D20 vs D10) and intracellular cholesterol transport (D40 vs D60) were observed. Moreover, LXR/RXR (liver X receptor- retinoid X receptor) signaling appeared as an overrepresented pathway in all comparisons. As part of their natural life cycle, temperate ectotherms are often exposed to seasonal variation in temperatures, including extended periods of cold well below their activity range. Relatively little is known about variation in physiological responses as vertebrate ectotherms enter and exit brumation in response to sustained cold temperatures. We tested the influence of temperature on physiology before, during, and after a simulated brumation in the checkered garter snake (Thamnophis marcianus), a widespread ectothermic vertebrate. We tested for the relative effect of immediate temperature and physiological context (entering or exiting brumation) on hormones regulating energy balance, indicators of energy availability, and resting metabolic rate (V̇O2). Plasma corticosterone, glucose, and insulin, as well as immune cell heterophil lymphocyte ratios responded to temperature, though they did so with different thermal response curves. Thermal sensitivity varied both among and within physiological measures depending on whether animals were going into or coming out of brumation. Additionally, V̇O2 was regulated beyond simple temperature-dependence, whereby post-brumation measures were depressed relative to pre-brumation measures at the same temperature. This pattern was characterized by a change in the temperature coefficient (Q10), with a larger pre-brumation Q10, suggesting reduced thermal sensitivity of metabolic rate following a period of extended cold exposure. The integrated physiological response presented here demonstrates not only temperature dependence across physiological axes, but seasonal variation in thermal responsiveness. Our results suggest that energy allocation decisions and hormonal regulation of underlying processes promote differing levels of thermal sensitivity when entering or exiting brumation.Considering the key role of the corpus luteum in the regulation of the canine diestrus, the present study aimed to investigate changes in the luteal transcriptome of pseudopregnant dogs (n = 18) from days (D) 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 post-ovulation. After RNAsequencing was performed, data was analyzed by resorting to several informatic tools. A total of 3300 genes were differently expressed among all samples (FDR less then 0.01). By comparing different time points, enriched biological processes as response to estradiol and lipids (D20 vs D10) and intracellular cholesterol transport (D40 vs D60) were observed. Our findings suggested that CLIC4 could be involved in FxOH-induced apoptosis in human CRC.With the advent of the big data era, machine learning methods have evolved and proliferated. This study focused on penalized regression, a procedure that builds interpretive prediction models among machine learning methods. In particular, penalized regression coupled with large-scale data can explore hundreds or thousands of variables in one statistical model without convergence problems and identify yet uninvestigated important predictors. As one of the first Monte Carlo simulation studies to investigate predictive modeling with missing categorical predictors in the context of social science research, this study endeavored to emulate real social science large-scale data. Likert-scaled variables were simulated as well as multiple-category and count variables. Due to the inclusion of the categorical predictors in modeling, penalized regression methods that consider the grouping effect were employed such as group Mnet. We also examined the applicability of the simulation conditions with a real large-scale dataset that the simulation study referenced. Particularly, the study presented selection counts of variables after multiple iterations of modeling in order to consider the bias resulting from data-splitting in model validation. Selection counts turned out to be a necessary tool when variable selection is of research interest. Efforts to utilize large-scale data to the fullest appear to offer a valid approach to mitigate the effect of nonignorable missingness. Overall, penalized regression which assumes linearity is a viable method to analyze social science large-scale survey data.
The negative discrepancy between residual functional capacity and reduced use of the contralesional hand, frequently observed after a brain lesion, has been termed
(LNU) and is thought to depend on the interaction of neuronal mechanisms during recovery and learning-dependent mechanisms.
Albeit the LNU phenomenon is generally accepted to exist, currently, no transdisciplinary definition exists. Furthermore, although therapeutic approaches are implemented in clinical practice targeting LNU, no standardized diagnostic routine is described in the available literature. Our objective was to reach consensus regarding a definition as well as synthesize knowledge about the current diagnostic procedures.
We used a structured group communication following the Delphi method among clinical and scientific experts in the field, knowledge from both, the work with patient populations and with animal models.
Consensus was reached regarding a transdisciplinary definition of the LNU phenomenon. Furthermore, the mode aore, basic research is needed to bridge between bedside and bench and eventually improve clinical decision making and further development of interventional strategies beyond the field of stroke rehabilitation.This study aims to simultaneously compare the psychometric properties and examine the factor structures of 3 emotion regulation (ER) strategy scales using a bifactor approach. Due to good reliability and validity, extensive use, and the same scoring method, the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, and Regulatory Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale were used to assess ER strategies in 1,036 Chinese respondents. A bifactor confirmatory factor analysis was designed to address the multidimensionality of the factor structure, and the corresponding bifactor structures were then applied in a subsequent bifactor multidimensional item response theory (MIRT) analysis. Finally, bifactor MIRT was used to compare the psychometric properties of the 3 measures. The results indicated that bifactor structures were appropriate for the 3 ER strategy measures, which performed well overall. Different measures provide the highest accuracy for specific groups and designs. Some strengths and limitations of this article are discussed.

Two-month-old Wistar rats were assigned to the control (CON), CON + GSPE (CON + PA), diabetics (STZ, 60 mg/kg b.w.), diabetes + GSPE (STZ + PA), diabetes + insulin (STZ + INS, 3 U/day) and diabetics + GSPE and INS (STZ + INS + PA) groups. GSPE (75 mg/kg b.w.) was administered daily either alone or with INS for 8 weeks.
Glutathione was lowest in diabetics while it increased in the STZ + INS + PA (

The changing and evolving healthcare environment means organisations are under increasing pressure to deliver value-based, high quality care to patients through enabling access, reducing costs and improving outcomes. These factors result in an increased pressure to deliver efficient and beneficial interventions to improve patient care and support sustainability beyond the scope of the implementation of such interventions. Additionally, the literature highlights the importance of coordination, cooperation and working together across areas is critical to achieving implementation success. This paper discusses the development of a triple C model for implementation that supports sustainability of complex interventions in health care services.
In order to develop the proposed implementation model, we adapted the formal tradition of theory building that is described in sociology. Firstly, we conducted a review of the literature on complex interventions and the available implementation models used to embed these o support adaptability and sustainment of interventions are maintained throughout the life of the intervention.

'Preparation for future learning' (PFL) has been conceptualized as a form of transfer whereby learners use their previous knowledge to learn about and adaptively solve new problems. Improved PFL outcomes have been linked to instructional approaches targeting learning mechanisms similar to those associated with successful self-regulated learning (SRL). We expected training that includes evidence-based SRL-supports would be non-inferior to training with direct supervision using the outcomes of a 'near transfer' test, and a PFL assessment of simulated endotracheal intubation skills.
This study took place at the University of Toronto from October 2014 to August 2015. We randomized medical students and residents (n = 54) into three groups Unsupervised, Supported; Supervised, Supported; and Unsupervised, Unsupported. Two raters scored participants' test performances usinnsupervised and Unsupported group, By contrast, the Unsupervised, Supported group did not score well on the near transfer test. Based on the observed sensitivity of the PFL assessment, we recommend researchers continue to study how such assessments maymeasure learners' SRL outcomes during structured learning experiences.

The increasing prevalence of mental health difficulties among children and young people (CYP) suggests that early intervention is vital. A comprehensive system of care and support requires the involvement of mental health professionals, including psychologists and psychiatrists, and allied professionals, including teachers, police, and youth workers. A critical starting point is the provision of effective training, in order that these professionals can better support the mental health needs of the CYP that they encounter.
Given the primacy of training in the CYP mental health support system, understanding the factors that maximise potential gains and facilitate uptake is pertinent. The current review therefore located and explored qualitative research evidence, to identify the barriers and facilitators underpinning successful delivery and implementation of training focussed on the mental health of CYP, for both mental health and allied professionals.
A systematic review and qualitative meta-aggregation or implementing CYP mental health training. Recommendations ranged from facilitating peer support during training, to the idea that training will be better implemented when perceived need is high. The review provides a robust evidence-based foundation to "common-sense" principles, drawing them into a coherent and organised framework using a synthesis method grounded in pragmatism.

Familial hypertriglyceridemia (FHTG) is a partially characterized primary dyslipidemia which is frequently confused with other forms hypertriglyceridemia. The aim of this work is to search for specific features that can help physicians recognize this disease.
This study included 84 FHTG cases, 728 subjects with common mild-to-moderate hypertriglyceridemia (CHTG) and 609 normotriglyceridemic controls. All subjects underwent genetic, clinical and biochemical assessments. A set of 53 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) previously associated with triglycerides levels, as well as 37 rare variants within the five main genes associated with hypertriglyceridemia (i.e. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/thapsigargin.html LPL, APOC2, APOA5, LMF1 and GPIHBP1) were analyzed. In vivo, extracts (100 mg/kg) were tested in two experimental murine models, respectively infected with P. chabaudi chabaudi and P. berghei ANKA. The chemical composition of the two samples was assessed by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to high resolution mass spectrometry.

This study investigated the possibility of enabling patients to spend the waiting period outside of the waiting room of the ENT outpatient department, in order to reduce the number of patients in the waiting rooms and therefore observe distancing rules. This was realized by the use of apager system.
During the timeframe of 12.5weeks (04.06.2020-31.08.2020), ENT outpatients were issued with pagers. A mixture of four sizes of PS-NPs at 20 nm, 60 nm, 100 nm and 200 nm was prepared by dilution with ultrapure deionized water and gentle mixing and was used as test sample for a polydisperse nanoplastic system. The AF4 method separated each single size of PS-NP mixture in a total time of 48 min by using 0.2% SDS as carrier solution. Then, the PS-NPs were sized and detected by following their MALS (90° scattering angle) and UV (215 nm) signals. Quality control (QC) performances as linearity, between-day repeatability, resolution factor, trueness/recovery, limit of detection (LoD) and selectivity were calculated, according to the ISO/TS 213622018. Method uncertainty was calculated following the ISO/TS 217482002 by summing between-day repeatability and trueness or recovery uncertainties. In-house validation results demonstrated good peak resolution and selectivity, R2 linearity of 0.998-0.999 in the range 50-1000 μg/mL, between-day repeatability of ca. 10%, trueness/recovery above 90% and LoD between 15 μg/mL (20 nm) and 33 μg/mL (200 nm). Expanded uncertainty was 16.1-17.9% on PS-NP size between 60 and 200 nm and 10.4-14.7% on PS-NP concentration between 100 and 1000 μg/mL. Negative ion dopant-assisted APPI using vapors of diethyl ether and a source temperature of 250 °C provided high ionization efficiencies and mass spectra characterized by intense in-source fragment ions as well as the presence of molecular ion and characteristic cluster ions containing oxygen atoms in their chemical structure. This made it possible to improve the selectivity in the determination of these compounds compared to that obtained with traditional GC-MS ion sources. Under optimized conditions, the sPLE GC-APPI-HRMS (Orbitrap) method provided high recoveries (> 91%), good precisions (RSD% less then 12%), and low method limits of detection (0.1-3.5 pg g-1 wet weight). The developed methodology has been applied to the determination of DP and related compounds in eggs of two gull species (L. michahellis and L. audouinii) from several Spanish protected areas. The results obtained showed significant differences in the DP concentration profiles in eggs from different gull breeding locations and between gull species of the same protected area. These results demonstrated the good performance of the GC-APPI-HRMS system to achieve a selective and sensitive determination of DP and related compounds in complex environmental samples.Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are associated with high services use, but European data on costs are scarce. Utilisation and annual costs of 385 individuals with ASD (aged 4-67 years; 18.2% females; 37.4% IQ less then 85) from German outpatient clinics were assessed. Average annual costs per person were 3287 EUR, with psychiatric inpatient care (19.8%), pharmacotherapy (11.1%), and occupational therapy (11.1%) being the largest cost components. Females incurred higher costs than males (4864 EUR vs. 2936 EUR). In a regression model, female sex (Cost Ratio 1.65), lower IQ (1.90), and Asperger syndrome (1.54) were associated with higher costs. In conclusion, ASD-related health costs are comparable to those of schizophrenia, thus underlining its public health relevance. Wellbeing improved (p less then .001). Mothers also reported that their child with a disability experienced an increase in quality of life (p = .042). Mothers' lifestyles goals improved managing stress; dietary changes; leisure; self-perception and others. HMHF is an effective intervention with improved health status and outcomes for mothers.
