However, the ophthalmological implications of this syndrome has not yet been well described. Both eyes and tears as portals of entry and sources of contagion have been the subject of debate by many authors. The purpose of this review is to summarize the evidence currently available on COVID-19 and its ocular implications and manifestations, in both animals and humans, with the aim to facilitate prevention and educate the ophthalmological community on this subject. A review of the literature revealed that the results of some studies suggest that ocular symptoms commonly appear in patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonia and that it is possible to isolate the virus from the conjunctival sac of these patients. Conjunctivitis is not a common manifestation of the disease, but contact with infected eyes could be one route of transmission. Consequently, ophthalmologists need to have correct prevention strategies in place. Some guidelines regarding the prevention and management of ophthalmology clinics are reviewed. However, well-designed trials should be conducted to rule out other ocular manifestations that may result from COVID-19 infection and to understand the transmission of the virus through the eyes.Sexting, the phenomenon commonly defined as the sending, receiving, and forwarding of nude, semi-nude, or sexually explicit images within digital forms of communication, is a practice that has received heightened public attention. While many scholars consider consensual sexting to be innocuous and a normative part of development, the potential for youth engagement to result in instances of cyberbullying, revenge porn, and child pornography has ignited public fear and anxiety, resulting in a messy patchwork of legal responses that often yield disproportionately punitive responses. Upon exploring the legal parameters surrounding youth sexting in Canada, this paper will argue that while the logic of the current legislation in protecting youth from harm is appropriate, its method of implementation is misguided. The legal reform advocated here calls upon child pornography and online harm laws only when the case involves an adult perpetrator, and suggests a more nuanced, graduated juvenile scheme when the behavior involves youth sexting participants.Although many young adults are interested in mixed-gender threesomes (MGTs), little research has assessed attitudes toward them. BACKGROUND Although low-intensity pulsed ultrasound has been reported to be potential cartilage regeneration, there still unresolved treatment due to cartilage fibrosis and degeneration by a lack of rapid and high-efficiency treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a combination therapy of focused acoustic force and stem cells at site for fast and efficient healing on cartilage regeneration. METHODS Using a rat articular cartilage defects model, one million adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ASCs) were injected into the defect site, and low-intensity focused ultrasound (LOFUS) in the range of 100-600 mV was used for 20 min/day for 2 weeks. All experimental groups were sacrificed after 4 weeks in total. The gross appearance score and hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), Alcian blue, and Safranin O staining were used for measuring the chondrogenic potential. The cartilage characteristics were observed, and type II collagen, Sox 9, aggrecan, and type X collagen were stained with immunofluorescence. The results of the comprehensive analysis were calculated using the Mankin scoring method. RESULTS The gross appearance scores of regenerated cartilage and chondrocyte-like cells in H&E images were higher in LOFUS-treated groups compared to those in negative control or ASC-treated groups. Safranin O and Alcian blue staining demonstrated that the 100 and 300 mV LOFUS groups showed greater synthesis of glycosaminoglycan and proteoglycan. The ASC + LOFUS 300 mV group showed positive regulation of type II collagen, Sox 9 and aggrecan and negative regulation of type X collagen, which indicated the occurrence of cartilage regeneration based on the Mankin score result. CONCLUSION The combination therapy, which involved treatment with ASC and 300 mV LOFUS, quickly and effectively reduced articular cartilage defects.Salinity has a significant impact on the sewage treatment efficiency of constructed wetlands (CWs), as well as affecting the greenhouse gas emissions of CWs. (2) The emission flux of CO2, CH4, and N2O in CWs varies with an increase in salinity. The trends of CO2 and CH4 emission flux were consistent with those of COD reduction rate. However, it was opposite for N2O flux to that of TN, NH4+-N, and NO3--N removal rate. Affected by salinity, the greenhouse gas emission flux in this study is generally lower than what was reported in literature. Consequently, a modified glucose-glutamic acid (GGA) calibration standard was proposed in which an appropriate amount of NaCl was added; this solution was found to be more effective in terms of accuracy and practicality than both conventional GGA and the synthetic wastewater recipe from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The calibrated self-built packed-bed bioreactor exhibited good precision of 3% or less in predicting BOD5 in influent, which is similar to the performance of the most common commercial biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) bioreactors. There was a statistical agreement between the results obtained from this rapid BOD biosensor and the conventional methods, even when testing treated wastewater samples.The distribution character of 41 antibiotics belonging to 6 groups, sulfonamides (SAs), quinolones (QUs), tetracyclines (TCs), macrolides (MLs), penicillins (PLs), and chloramphenicol (CHL), was investigated in drinking water sources of Nanjing during 2017-2019. MLs (42.98%) were the most abundant category, followed by SAs (25.94%) and QUs (22.52%). The dominant antibiotic was ofloxacin (OFX) in Dec. 2017 (average concentration, 3.14 ng/L; range, ND-35.20 ng/L) and Nov. 2018 (2.16 ng/L, ND-12.26 ng/L), and sulfadiazine (SDZ) in Mar. 2019 (16.37 ng/L, ND-25.90 ng/L). For Dec. 2017, the total concentrations in Zhongshan Waterworks (S15) and Jinniushan Reservoir (S16) were significantly higher than the other sampling sites, which may be attributed to point source pollution. The ecological and human risk of the main antibiotics was assessed by risk quotients (RQs) and target hazard quotient (THQ), respectively. Most of the RQ values were below 0.1, except enrofloxacin (ERX, 0.11) and enoxacin (ENX, 0.62) in Dec. 2017, lomefloxacin (LOM, 0.14) in Nov. 2018, and LOM (0.28) and ERX (0.10) in Mar. 2019. This indicated that the risk of the target antibiotics to aquatic organisms in the 3 years was moderate or low level. Meanwhile, results of the THQ values showed that antibiotic exposure caused no risk to human health. This research provides scientific information for antibiotic pollution control and enriches environmental monitoring data in the drinking water sources.

BACKGROUND There is a high prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders among health care professionals. Posture is an essential point to be addressed for health care professionals with musculoskeletal disorders. Cervical pain can result from several conditions. Treatment should include posture modification and home exercise. OBJECTIVE This study aims to compare a new postural garment (Posture Plus Force; Medi, Bayreuth, Germany) with exercises for women with nonspecific cervical pain. The investigators focus on nurses and allied health professionals due to the importance of posture in work-related musculoskeletal disorders. METHODS This randomized crossover clinical trial has a 3-month treatment sequence and a 3-month washout period. Participants will include nurses and allied health professionals 21 to 55 years of age with cervical pain. OBJECTIVE The CHALO! pilot was an online educational and behavioral intervention aimed to determine the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary impact of a peer-delivered, internet-based messaging intervention for HIV testing and consistent condom use for MSM in India. The messages addressed barriers to HIV testing and condom use and were theoretically based on the information-motivation-behavioral skills model. METHODS Between February and March 2015, we recruited, enrolled, and randomized 244 participants via online advertisements on mobile dating apps and Facebook. Eligible men (18 years or older, sexually active with other men, and self-reported HIV-negative or unknown status) were randomized to receive educational an testing, intentions increased from 32% (16/50) of the sample at baseline to 56% (28/50) of the sample at follow-up (P=.02). Condom use during anal sex did not significantly change from baseline to follow-up. HIV testing and condom use did not significantly differ between approach and avoidance conditions at follow-up. BACKGROUND There is a high prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders among health care professionals. Posture is an essential point to be addressed for health care professionals with musculoskeletal disorders. Cervical pain can result from several conditions. Treatment should include posture modification and home exercise. OBJECTIVE This study aims to compare a new postural garment (Posture Plus Force; Medi, Bayreuth, Germany) with exercises for women with nonspecific cervical pain. The investigators focus on nurses and allied health professionals due to the importance of posture in work-related musculoskeletal disorders. METHODS This randomized crossover clinical trial has a 3-month treatment sequence and a 3-month washout period. Participants will include nurses and allied health professionals 21 to 55 years of age with cervical pain. OBJECTIVE The CHALO! pilot was an online educational and behavioral intervention aimed to determine the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary impact of a peer-delivered, internet-based messaging intervention for HIV testing and consistent condom use for MSM in India. The messages addressed barriers to HIV testing and condom use and were theoretically based on the information-motivation-behavioral skills model. METHODS Between February and March 2015, we recruited, enrolled, and randomized 244 participants via online advertisements on mobile dating apps and Facebook. Eligible men (18 years or older, sexually active with other men, and self-reported HIV-negative or unknown status) were randomized to receive educational an testing, intentions increased from 32% (16/50) of the sample at baseline to 56% (28/50) of the sample at follow-up (P=.02). Condom use during anal sex did not significantly change from baseline to follow-up. HIV testing and condom use did not significantly differ between approach and avoidance conditions at follow-up. An awareness of atypical presentations allows SARS-CoV-2 to be a differential so that it can be appropriately investigated. A knowledge of infectious mimics prevents COVID-19 from overshadowing other diagnoses, hence preventing delayed diagnosis or even misdiagnosis and consequent adverse outcomes for patients.Background Women's physical and mental health are strongly inter-related and may influence patterns of contraceptive use. We examined the longitudinal associations between young women's physical and mental health and method of contraceptive use over a 5-year period. Methods Data from 4952 young women (≤27 years) participating in the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health who completed four self-reported surveys between 2013 and 2017 were analysed. Women's contraceptive use was categorised as contraceptive pill/oral contraceptives, long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), condom, other methods and none. Multinomial logistic regression was used to determine the longitudinal associations between women's physical and mental health and method of contraception. Results Over the 5-year period the percentage of pill users decreased from 60% (95% CI 58% to 61%) to 41% (95% CI 39% to 42%) and LARC users increased from 13% (95% CI 12% to 14%) to 21% (95% CI 20% to 22%) as did non-users from 9% (95% CI 8% to 9%) to 17% (95% CI 16% to 18%). Compared with women using the pill, women who used LARCs were more likely to be overweight (OR 1.34; 95% CI 1.17 to 1.53) and obese (OR 1.84; 95% CI 1.55 to 2.19), current smokers (OR 1.45; 95% CI 1.23 to 1.71) and reported fair or poor general health (OR 1.50; 95% CI 1.28 to 1.76) and very high levels of psychological distress (OR 1.47; 95% CI 1.24 to 1.76). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/buloxibutid.html Similar results were also found among women who used condoms or no contraception. This study aimed to identify any major complications and determine the safety and clinical utility of CF-SCNRB performed in a university hospital and associated outpatient clinics. Materials and methods Two-hundred fifty-four conventional fluoroscopy-guided selective cervical nerve root blocks were retrospectively identified from 2011 to 2018 using a radiology report search tool. Each procedure was performed by an experienced neuroradiologist performing spinal injections on a full-time basis in clinical practice. A 10-point pain scale was used for pre- and postprocedural pain-level assessment. Successful conventional, fluoroscopy-guided, selective cervical nerve root block was defined as a patient-reported pain scale reduction of at least 50% and/or alleviation of numbness or paresthesia at ≥2 weeks postinjection. All clinically important immediate and delayed complications were also recorded. Results Two-hundred fifty-four conventional fluoroscopy-guided selective cervical nerve root blocks were performed via an anterolateral approach with an average fluoroscopy time of 24.3 seconds for all cases. There were no aborted procedures and no major or permanent complications. There were 14 minor complications; 12 of these were periprocedural and resolved by the 2-week follow-up visit. One-hundred eighty-five patients (75.2%) reported pain improvement of >50% from baseline at 15 minutes postinjection. Overall, 172 patients (67.7%) reported >50% pain scale reduction or alleviation from paresthesia at least 2 weeks postinjection. We investigated whether an approach with high dimensional warping to the template and nonparametric statistics would be useful to detect hippocampal atrophy in patients with hippocampal sclerosis. Materials and methods We performed single-subject voxel-based morphometry with nonparametric statistics within the framework of Statistical Parametric Mapping to compare MRI from 26 well-characterized patients with temporal lobe epilepsy individually against a group of 110 healthy controls. The following statistical threshold was used P less then .05 corrected for multiple comparisons with family-wise error over the region of interest right and left hippocampus. Results The sensitivity for the detection of atrophy related to hippocampal sclerosis was 0.92 (95% CI, 0.67-0.99) for the right hippocampus and 0.60 (0.31-0.83) for the left, and the specificity for volume changes was 0.98 (0.93-0.99). All clusters of decreased hippocampal volumes were correctly lateralized to the seizure focus. Hippocampal volume decrease was in accordance with neuronal cell loss on histology reports. Conclusions Nonparametric voxel-based morphometry is sensitive and specific for hippocampal atrophy in patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy and may be useful in clinical practice.Vaccines against Zika virus (ZIKV) infection that target CD8+ T cells are of considerable interest because Abs may enhance infection susceptibility. We show accumulation of activated ZIKV-specific CD8+ T cells primed by recombinant L. monocytogenes is associated with reductions in circulating virus levels after ZIKV challenge in type I IFN receptor-deficient **** and wildtype **** administered neutralizing Abs against type I IFN receptor. Estuarine and intertidal wetlands are important sites for nitrogen transformation and elimination. However, the factors controlling nitrogen removal processes remain largely uncertain in the highly dynamic environments. In this study, continuous-flow experiment combined with 15N isotope pairing technique was used to investigate in situ rates of denitrification and anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) and their coupling with nitrification in intertidal wetlands of the Yangtze Estuary. The measured rates varied from below the detection limit to 152.39 µmol N/(m2·hr) for denitrification and from below the detection limit to 43.06 µmol N/(m2·hr) for anammox. The coupling links of nitrogen removal processes with nitrification were mainly dependent on nitrate, organic carbon, sulfide, dissolved oxygen and ferric iron in the estuarine and intertidal wetlands. Additionally, it was estimated that the actual nitrogen removal processes annually removed approximately 5% of the terrigenous inorganic nitrogen discharged into the Yangtze Estuary. This study gives new insights into nitrogen transformation and fate in the estuarine and intertidal wetlands.China's energy dependents on coal due to the abundance and low cost of coal. Coal provides a secure and stable energy source in China. Over-dependence on coal results in the emission of Hazardous Trace Elements (HTEs) including selenium (Se), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), arsenic (As), etc., from Coal-Fired Power Plants (CFPPs), which are the major toxic air pollutants causing widespread concern. For this reason, it is essential to provide a succinct analysis of the main HTEs emission control techniques while concurrently identifying the research prospects framework and specifying future research directions. The study herein reviews various techniques applied in China for the selected HTEs emission control, including the technical, institutional, policy, and regulatory aspects. The specific areas covered in this study include health effects, future coal production and consumption, the current situation of HTEs in Chinese coal, the chemistry of selected HTEs, control techniques, policies, and action plans safeguarding the emission control. The review emphasizes the fact that China must establish and promote efficient and clean ways to utilize coal in order to realize sustainable development. The principal conclusion is that cleaning coal technologies and fuel substitution should be great potential HTEs control technologies in China. Future research should focus on the simultaneous removal of HTEs, PM, SOx, and NOx in the complex flue gas.Imazethapyr (IM) is a widely used acetolactate synthase-inhibiting chiral herbicide. It has long-term residuals that may be absorbed by the human body through the edible parts of plants, such as vegetable leaves or fruits. Here, we selected a model plant, Arabidopsis thaliana, to determine the effects of R-IM and S-IM on its leaf structure, photosynthetic efficiency, and metabolites, as well as the structures of microorganisms in the phyllosphere, after 7 days of exposure. Our results indicated enantiomeric differences in plant growth between R-IM and S-IM; 133 µg/kg R-IM showed heavier inhibition of photosynthetic efficiency and greater changes to subcellular structure than S-IM. R-IM and S-IM also had different effects on metabolism and leaf microorganisms. S-IM mainly increased lipid compounds and decreased amino acids, while R-IM increased sugar accumulation. The relative abundance of Moraxellaceae human pathogenic bacteria was increased by R-IM treatment, indicating that R-IM treatment may increase leaf surface pathogenic bacteria. Our research provides a new perspective for evaluating the harmfulness of pesticide residues in soil, phyllosphere microbiome changes via the regulation of plant metabolism, and induced pathogenic bacterial accumulation risks.Nanophotocatalysts have shown great potential for degrading poly- and perfluorinated substances (PFAS). In light of the fact that most of these catalysts were studied in pure water, this study was designed to elucidate effects from common environmental factors on decomposing and defluorinating perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) by In2O3 nanoparticles. Results from this work demonstrated that among the seven parameters, pH, sulfate, chloride, H2O2, In2O3 dose, NOM and O2, the first four had statistically significant negative effects on PFOA degradation. Since PFOA is a strong acid, the best condition leading to the highest PFOA removal was identified for two pH ranges. When pH was between 4 and 8, the optimal condition was pH = 4.2; sulfate = 5.00 mg/L; chloride = 20.43 mg/L; H2O2 = 0 mmol/L. Under this condition, PFOA decomposition and defluorination were 55.22 and 23.56%, respectively. When pH was between 2 and 6, the optimal condition was pH = 2; sulfate = 5.00 mg/L; chloride = 27.31 mg/L; H2O2 = 0 mmol/L. With this condition, the modeled PFOA decomposition was 97.59% with a defluorination of approximately 100%. These predicted results were all confirmed by experimental data. Thus, In2O3 nanoparticles can be used for degrading PFOA in aqueous solutions. This approach works best when the target contaminated water contains low concentrations of NOM, sulfate and chloride and at a low pH.Bauxite residues, a large volume solid waste, are in urgent need of effective disposal and management. Here, we developed a synergistic pyrolysis to neutralize the alkalinity of bauxite residue and upgrade the structure of biomass simultaneously. Estuarine and intertidal wetlands are important sites for nitrogen transformation and elimination. However, the factors controlling nitrogen removal processes remain largely uncertain in the highly dynamic environments. In this study, continuous-flow experiment combined with 15N isotope pairing technique was used to investigate in situ rates of denitrification and anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) and their coupling with nitrification in intertidal wetlands of the Yangtze Estuary. The measured rates varied from below the detection limit to 152.39 µmol N/(m2·hr) for denitrification and from below the detection limit to 43.06 µmol N/(m2·hr) for anammox. The coupling links of nitrogen removal processes with nitrification were mainly dependent on nitrate, organic carbon, sulfide, dissolved oxygen and ferric iron in the estuarine and intertidal wetlands. Additionally, it was estimated that the actual nitrogen removal processes annually removed approximately 5% of the terrigenous inorganic nitrogen discharged into the Yangtze Estuary. This study gives new insights into nitrogen transformation and fate in the estuarine and intertidal wetlands.China's energy dependents on coal due to the abundance and low cost of coal. Coal provides a secure and stable energy source in China. Over-dependence on coal results in the emission of Hazardous Trace Elements (HTEs) including selenium (Se), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), arsenic (As), etc., from Coal-Fired Power Plants (CFPPs), which are the major toxic air pollutants causing widespread concern. For this reason, it is essential to provide a succinct analysis of the main HTEs emission control techniques while concurrently identifying the research prospects framework and specifying future research directions. The study herein reviews various techniques applied in China for the selected HTEs emission control, including the technical, institutional, policy, and regulatory aspects. The specific areas covered in this study include health effects, future coal production and consumption, the current situation of HTEs in Chinese coal, the chemistry of selected HTEs, control techniques, policies, and action plans safeguarding the emission control. The review emphasizes the fact that China must establish and promote efficient and clean ways to utilize coal in order to realize sustainable development. The principal conclusion is that cleaning coal technologies and fuel substitution should be great potential HTEs control technologies in China. Future research should focus on the simultaneous removal of HTEs, PM, SOx, and NOx in the complex flue gas.Imazethapyr (IM) is a widely used acetolactate synthase-inhibiting chiral herbicide. It has long-term residuals that may be absorbed by the human body through the edible parts of plants, such as vegetable leaves or fruits. Here, we selected a model plant, Arabidopsis thaliana, to determine the effects of R-IM and S-IM on its leaf structure, photosynthetic efficiency, and metabolites, as well as the structures of microorganisms in the phyllosphere, after 7 days of exposure. Our results indicated enantiomeric differences in plant growth between R-IM and S-IM; 133 µg/kg R-IM showed heavier inhibition of photosynthetic efficiency and greater changes to subcellular structure than S-IM. R-IM and S-IM also had different effects on metabolism and leaf microorganisms. S-IM mainly increased lipid compounds and decreased amino acids, while R-IM increased sugar accumulation. The relative abundance of Moraxellaceae human pathogenic bacteria was increased by R-IM treatment, indicating that R-IM treatment may increase leaf surface pathogenic bacteria. Our research provides a new perspective for evaluating the harmfulness of pesticide residues in soil, phyllosphere microbiome changes via the regulation of plant metabolism, and induced pathogenic bacterial accumulation risks.Nanophotocatalysts have shown great potential for degrading poly- and perfluorinated substances (PFAS). In light of the fact that most of these catalysts were studied in pure water, this study was designed to elucidate effects from common environmental factors on decomposing and defluorinating perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) by In2O3 nanoparticles. Results from this work demonstrated that among the seven parameters, pH, sulfate, chloride, H2O2, In2O3 dose, NOM and O2, the first four had statistically significant negative effects on PFOA degradation. Since PFOA is a strong acid, the best condition leading to the highest PFOA removal was identified for two pH ranges. When pH was between 4 and 8, the optimal condition was pH = 4.2; sulfate = 5.00 mg/L; chloride = 20.43 mg/L; H2O2 = 0 mmol/L. Under this condition, PFOA decomposition and defluorination were 55.22 and 23.56%, respectively. When pH was between 2 and 6, the optimal condition was pH = 2; sulfate = 5.00 mg/L; chloride = 27.31 mg/L; H2O2 = 0 mmol/L. With this condition, the modeled PFOA decomposition was 97.59% with a defluorination of approximately 100%. These predicted results were all confirmed by experimental data. Thus, In2O3 nanoparticles can be used for degrading PFOA in aqueous solutions. Logistic regression for lipid profile in both groups revealed significant TC and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) as predictors for suicide. In this study, 24 male rats were used and were divided into four groups consisting of 6 animals in each. Of them, 12 rats received liquid diet containing 35% fructose for 8 weeks in order to induce hepatosteatosis, while other animals had a normal nutrition. Group 1 served as controls and had a normal nutrition with no drug treatment. The animals in Group 2 had a normal nutrition and treated with atorvastatin. Group 3 received high-fructose diet with no drug treatment and Group 4 received high-fructose diet followed by atorvastatin treatment. After the two weeks of treatment period, passive avoidance tasks evaluating the memory were performed in both the study and control groups. The liver and brain were then removed for histologic, pathologic, and biochemical evaluation. In the non-treated rats with hepatosteatosis (Group 3), the lowest mean latency time and the highest mean histopathologic liver score, and brain TNF- α and MDA (Measurement of lipid peroxidation) were found (p less then 0.00001). On the other hand, in the animals treated with atorvastatin, all these parameters were significantly higher than that of controls and significantly lower than that of Group 3 (p less then 0.05). Hst and Nano-Hst treatment reversed anxiogenic-like behavior, and the activities of antioxidant enzymes were elevated. The sample included first-degree female relatives (n = 350) of 220 female patients who had received breast cancer treatment at Akdeniz University Hospital and first-degree female relatives of women who did not have a FBCH (n = 300) who had applied to a Family Health Center (FHC) in Antalya. Data were collected between October 2015 and March 2016. The percentage of women who regularly had a mammography was 38% in women with a FBCH and 15.3% in women without a FBCH. Women with a FBCH had higher susceptibility, seriousness, health motivation, mammography self-efficacy perception, and fear of breast cancer, and lower perception of mammography barriers than women without a FBCH. The frequency of having mammography in women with and without a FBCH increased with increased susceptibility perception and was higher in women with a FBCH than in women without a FBCH. Additionally, being single increased mammography screening behavior in those with FBCH. Trainings on screenings should emphasize risks of breast cancer and mammography barriers of the married ones should be reduced.The article illuminates and discusses the realism of policy-makers' goals to increase involvement of volunteers and informal caregivers in long-term care services in Norway. Drawing on multiple data sources, the article investigates how commonplace volunteering and informal care are in long-term care, and it explores challenges experienced in collaboration between formal caregivers and volunteers and informal caregivers. The results show that only 4.4 percent of the Norwegian population carry out unpaid, voluntary work in long-term care. Twenty percent regularly provide informal care to someone with special care needs. Knowledge/information gaps and lacking coordination are common collaboration challenges between formal caregivers and volunteers/informal caregivers. The limitations identified in the current collaboration environment should be used actively by both policy makers and the practice field to critically assess goals and strategies for involvement and improving collaboration practices.More older adults are using marijuana and receiving substance use treatment. We used the 2015-2017 Treatment Episode Data Set-Discharges (TEDS-D) to identify characteristics associated with treatment discharge among those aged 50+ whose admission involved marijuana use. Among these discharges (N = 130,287), 7.0% had been admitted for marijuana use only and 93.0% for polysubstance use (13.0% marijuana-primary, 57.7% marijuana-secondary, and 22.3% marijuana-tertiary), and the overall treatment completion rate was 45%. We report the discovery of three new species of freshwater metopid ciliates, Pileometopus lynni gen. et sp. nov., Castula flexibilis sp. nov., and Longitaenia australis sp. nov. Based on morphologic features and the 18S rRNA gene phylogeny, we transfer two known species of Metopus to the new genus Castula, as C. fusca (Kahl, 1927) comb. nov. and C. setosa (Kahl, 1927) comb. nov.. and another known species is herein transferred to the new genus Longitaenia, as L. gibba (Kahl, 1927) comb. nov. Pileometopus is characterized by a turbinate body shape, a dorsal field of densely spaced dikinetids, a bipartite paroral membrane, and long caudal cilia. A distinctive morphologic feature of Castula species is long setae arising over the posterior third of the body (as opposed to a terminal tuft). Longitaenia spp. are characterized by an equatorial cytostome and long perizonal ciliary stripe relative to the cell length. Based on phylogenetic analyses of 18S rRNA gene sequences we identify and briefly discuss strongly supported clades and intraspecific genetic polymorphism within the order Metopida.Aphelids (Aphelida) are intracellular parasitoids of algae and represent one of the early diverging or sister lineages of the kingdom Fungi. Although Aphelida is a small group, molecular phylogenetic analyses revealed that many environmental sequences belong to Aphelida, suggesting that aphelids are distributed worldwide; however, the extent of their diversity is unclear. Here, we investigated a novel aphelid culture APH2 that parasitizes the green alga Coccomyxa sp. APH2 produced posteriorly uniflagellate zoospores, a defining character of the genus Aphelidium. The residual body of APH2 was spherical in the mature plasmodium, but became amorphous during zoospore formation and collapsed after zoospore discharge, which has not been described for other Aphelidium species. Zoospores of APH2 possessed a striated rhizoplast that extended anteriorly from the kinetosome to the posterior end of the nucleus, and a microtubular root arising from the side of the kinetosome and lying almost parallel to the rhizoplast, both of which are unique among aphelid taxa. A molecular phylogenetic analysis based on the 18S rDNA sequences placed APH2 as sister lineage to all other known aphelid sequences. Based on these results, we describe this aphelid as a new species, Aphelidium collabens.Magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF) provides a unique concept for simultaneous and fast acquisition of multiple quantitative MR parameters. Despite acquisition efficiency, adoption of MRF into the clinics is hindered by its dictionary matching-based reconstruction, which is computationally demanding and lacks scalability. Here, we propose a convolutional neural network-based reconstruction, which enables both accurate and fast reconstruction of parametric maps, and is adaptable based on the needs of spatial regularization and the capacity for the reconstruction. We evaluated the method using MRF T1-FF, an MRF sequence for T1 relaxation time of water (T1H2O) and fat fraction (FF) mapping. We demonstrate the method's performance on a highly heterogeneous dataset consisting of 164 patients with various neuromuscular diseases imaged at thighs and legs. We empirically show the benefit of incorporating spatial regularization during the reconstruction and demonstrate that the method learns meaningful features from MR physics perspective. Further, we investigate the ability of the method to handle highly heterogeneous morphometric variations and its generalization to anatomical regions unseen during training. The obtained results outperform the state-of-the-art in deep learning-based MRF reconstruction. The method achieved normalized root mean squared errors of 0.048 ± 0.011 for T1H2O maps and 0.027 ± 0.004 for FF maps when compared to the dictionary matching in a test set of 50 patients. Coupled with fast MRF sequences, the proposed method has the potential of enabling multiparametric MR imaging in clinically feasible time.To fully define the target objects of interest in clinical diagnosis, many deep convolution neural networks (CNNs) use multimodal paired registered images as inputs for segmentation tasks. Therefore, developing a unified model that can segment the target objects from unpaired multiple modalities is significant for many clinical applications. However, it is challenging to obtain a large number of annotated 3D medical data needed to train a neural network well, as such manual annotation by physicians is time consuming and laborious. Self-supervised learning is one of the potential solutions to mitigate the strong requirement of data annotation by deeply exploiting raw data information. In this paper, we propose a novel self-supervised learning framework for volumetric medical data. Specifically, we propose a pretext task, i.e., Rubik's cube+, to pre-train 3D neural networks. The pretext task involves three operations, namely cube ordering, cube rotating and cube masking, forcing networks to learn translation and rotation invariant features from the original 3D medical data, and tolerate the noise of the data at the same time. Compared to the strategy of training from scratch, fine-tuning from the Rubik's cube+ pre-trained weights can remarkablely boost the accuracy of 3D neural networks on various tasks, such as cerebral hemorrhage classification and brain tumor segmentation, without the use of extra data.

The residual body of APH2 was spherical in the mature plasmodium, but became amorphous during zoospore formation and collapsed after zoospore discharge, which has not been described for other Aphelidium species. Zoospores of APH2 possessed a striated rhizoplast that extended anteriorly from the kinetosome to the posterior end of the nucleus, and a microtubular root arising from the side of the kinetosome and lying almost parallel to the rhizoplast, both of which are unique among aphelid taxa. A molecular phylogenetic analysis based on the 18S rDNA sequences placed APH2 as sister lineage to all other known aphelid sequences. Based on these results, we describe this aphelid as a new species, Aphelidium collabens.Magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF) provides a unique concept for simultaneous and fast acquisition of multiple quantitative MR parameters. Despite acquisition efficiency, adoption of MRF into the clinics is hindered by its dictionary matching-based reconstruction, which is computationally demanding and lacks scalability. Here, we propose a convolutional neural network-based reconstruction, which enables both accurate and fast reconstruction of parametric maps, and is adaptable based on the needs of spatial regularization and the capacity for the reconstruction. We evaluated the method using MRF T1-FF, an MRF sequence for T1 relaxation time of water (T1H2O) and fat fraction (FF) mapping. We demonstrate the method's performance on a highly heterogeneous dataset consisting of 164 patients with various neuromuscular diseases imaged at thighs and legs. We empirically show the benefit of incorporating spatial regularization during the reconstruction and demonstrate that the method learns meaningful features from MR physics perspective. Further, we investigate the ability of the method to handle highly heterogeneous morphometric variations and its generalization to anatomical regions unseen during training. The obtained results outperform the state-of-the-art in deep learning-based MRF reconstruction. The method achieved normalized root mean squared errors of 0.048 ± 0.011 for T1H2O maps and 0.027 ± 0.004 for FF maps when compared to the dictionary matching in a test set of 50 patients. The pretext task involves three operations, namely cube ordering, cube rotating and cube masking, forcing networks to learn translation and rotation invariant features from the original 3D medical data, and tolerate the noise of the data at the same time. In a typical proteomics approach, a protein isolate is digested into tryptic peptides and then analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Here, we investigated the application of several deep learning models to the research field of EEG-based emotion recognition, including deep neural networks (DNN), convolutional neural networks (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), and a hybrid model of CNN and LSTM (CNN-LSTM). The experiments were carried on the well-known DEAP dataset. Experimental results show that the CNN and CNN-LSTM models had high classification performance in EEG-based emotion recognition, and their accurate extraction rate of RAW data reached 90.12 and 94.17%, respectively. The performance of the DNN model was not as accurate as other models, but the training speed was fast. The LSTM model was not as stable as the CNN and CNN-LSTM models. Moreover, with the same number of parameters, the training speed of the LSTM was **** slower and it was difficult to achieve convergence. Additional parameter comparison experiments with other models, including epoch, learning rate, and dropout probability, were also conducted in the paper. In this study, we used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and graph theory approaches to explore the functional brain network in 45 PD patients with MCI (PD-MCI), 22 PD patients without MCI (PD-nMCI), and 18 healthy controls (HC). We found that the PD-MCI, PD-nMCI, and HC groups exhibited a small-world architecture in the functional brain network. However, early-stage PD-MCI patients had decreased clustering coefficient, increased characteristic path length, and changed nodal centrality in the default mode network (DMN), control network (CN), somatomotor network (SMN), and visual network (VN), which might contribute to factors for MCI symptoms in PD patients. Distinct ganglionic patterns of expression were observed spanning ion channels, neurotransmitters, neuropeptides, G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), transporters, and biosynthetic enzymes. The relationship between ganglionic transcript levels and the corresponding protein was examined using immunohistochemistry for select, highly expressed, ganglion-specific genes. Transcriptomic analyses of spinal dorsal horn and intermediolateral cell column (IML), which form the termination of primary afferent neurons and the origin of preganglionic innervation to the SCG, respectively, disclosed pre- and post-ganglionic molecular-level circuits. These multimodal investigations provide insight into autonomic regulation, nodose transcripts related to pain and satiety, and DRG-spinal cord and IML-SCG communication. Multiple neurobiological and pharmacological contexts can be addressed, such as discriminating drug targets and predicting potential side effects, in analgesic drug development efforts directed at the peripheral nervous system.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put a spotlight on political leadership around the world. Differences in how leaders address the pandemic through public messages have practical implications for building trust and an effective response within a country.
We analysed the speeches made by 20 heads of government around the world (Bangladesh, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Niger, Norway, Russia, South Africa, Scotland, Sint Maarten, United Kingdom, United States and Taiwan) to highlight the differences between men and women leaders in discussing COVID-19. We used an inductive analytical approach, coding speeches for specific themes based on language and content.
Five primary themes emerged across a total of 122 speeches on COVID-19, made by heads of government economics and financial relief, social welfare and vulnerable populations, nationalism, responsibility and paternalism, and emotional appeals. While this analysis does not attempt to answer whether men or women are more effective leaders in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, it does provide insight into the rhetorical tools and types of language used by different leaders during a national and international crisis. This analysis provides additional evidence on the differences in political leaders' messages and priorities to inspire citizens' adhesion to the social contract in the adoption of response and recovery measures. However, it does not consider the influence of contexts, such as the public audience, on leaders' strategic communication approaches.Consensus is lacking on the most appropriate indicators to document progress in safe abortion at programmatic and country level. We conducted a scoping review to provide an extensive summary of abortion indicators used over 10 years (2008-2018) to inform the debate on how progress in the provision and access to abortion care can be best captured. Documents were identified in PubMed and Popline and supplemented by materials identified on major non-governmental organisation websites. Indicators of access and availability and of the provision of abortion care were the most common. Indicators of outcomes were fewer and focused on physical health, with few measures of psychological well-being and no measures of quality of life or functioning. Similarly, there were few indicators attempting to measure the context, including beliefs and social attitudes at the population level. Most indicators used special studies either in facilities or at population level. The list of indicators (in online supplemental appendix) is an extensive resource for the design of monitoring and evaluation plans of abortion programmes. The large number indicators, many specific to one source only and with similar concepts measured in a multitude of ways, suggest the need for standardisation.
Families living in extreme poverty require interventions to support early-childhood development (ECD) due to broad risks. This longitudinal cluster randomised trial examines the effectiveness of Sugira Muryango (SM), a home-visiting intervention linked to Rwanda's social protection system to promote ECD and reduce violence compared with usual care (UC).
Families with children aged 6-36 months were recruited in 284 geographical clusters across three districts. Cluster-level randomisation (allocated 11 SMUC) was used to prevent diffusion. SM was hypothesised to improve child development, reduce violence and increase father engagement. Developmental outcomes were assessed using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) and the Malawi Development Assessment Tool (MDAT) and anthropometric assessments of growth. Violence was assessed using questions from UNICEF Multiple Indicators Cluster Survey (****) and Rwanda Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS). Father engagement was assessed using the Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment. Blinded enumerators conducted interviews and developmental assessments.
A total of 541 SM families and 508 UC families were enrolled and included in the analyses. Study attrition (2.0% children; 9.6% caregivers) was addressed by hot deck imputation. Children in SM families improved more on gross motor (d=0.162, 95% CI 0.065 to 0.260), communication (d=0.081, 95% CI 0.005 to 0.156), problem solving (d=0.101, 95% CI 0.002 to 0.179) and personal-social development (d=0.096, 95% CI -0.015 to 0.177) on the ASQ-3. SM families showed increased father engagement (OR=1.592, 95% CI 1.069 to 2.368), decreased harsh discipline (incidence rate ratio, IRR=0.741, 95% CI 0.657 to 0.835) and intimate partner violence (IRR=0.616, 95% CI0.458 to 0.828). There were no intervention-related improvements on MDAT or child growth.

Complications due to unsafe abortions are an important cause of morbidity and mortality in many sub-Saharan African countries. We aimed to characterise abortion-related complication severity, describe their management, and to report women's experience of abortion care in Africa.
A cross-sectional study was implemented in 210 health facilities across 11 sub-Saharan African countries. Data were collected on women's characteristics, clinical information and women's experience of abortion care (using the audio computer-assisted self-interviewing (ACASI) system). Our project links several nationwide Norwegian registries. The patient sample is all persons aged 5-18 years that were in contact with public sector child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient clinics in 2009-2011. Our comparative analysis of prognosis will be based on survival analysis and mixed-effects models. Our analysis of variation will apply mixed-effects models and generalised linear models. We have two identification strategies for the effect of being diagnosed with ADHD and of receiving medication on long-term outcomes. Both strategies rely on using preference-based instrumental variables, which in our project are based on provider preferences for ADHD diagnosis and medication.

To investigate the effect of the Early Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Care Programme on CKD progression in patients with CKD stage I-IIIa.
Observational cohort study.
Taipei Medical University Research Database from three affiliated hospitals.
Adult non-pregnant patients with CKD stage I-IIIa from Taipei Medical University Research Database between 1 January 2012 and 31 August 2017 were recruited. These patients were divided into Early CKD Care Programme participants (case) and non-participants (control). The models were matched by age, sex, estimated glomerular filtration rate and CKD stage with 12 propensity score to reduce bias between two groups.

Compared with the control group, the case group demonstrated more comorbidities and higher proportions of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, gout, dyslipidaemia, heart disease and cerebrovascular disease, but had lower risk of progression to CKD stage IIIb before and (HR 0.72; 95% CI 0.61 to 0.85) and after (adjusted HR (aHR) 0.67; 95% CI 0.55 to 0.81) adjustments. Moreover, Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed the cumulative incidence of CKD stage IIIb was significantly lower in the case group than in the control group. Finally, the programme was an independent protective factor against progression to stage IIIb, especially in patients with CKD stage IIIa before (HR 0.72; 95% CI 0.61 to 0.85) and after (aHR 0.67; 95% CI 0.55 to 0.81) adjustments.

Hyperbilirubinemia is one of the most common clinical symptoms in newborns. To improve patient outcomes, evidence-based and implementable guidelines are required. However, clinical guidelines may vary in quality, criteria and recommendations among regions and countries. In this study, we aimed to systematically assess the quality of guidelines using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research & Evaluation (AGREE)-II instrument and summarise the specific recommendations for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in order to provide suggestions for future guideline development.
Systematic review.
We searched the PubMed, Embase, Medline and guideline databases for relevant articles on 10 April 2020. The studies were screened by two independent reviewers according to our inclusion criteria. Two reviewers independently extracted the descriptive data. Four appraisers assessed the guidelines using the AGREE-II instrument.

Evidence-based clinical guidelines play an important role in healthcare and can be a valuable source for quality indicators (QIs). However, the link between guidelines and QI is often neglected and methodological standards for the development of guideline-based QI are still lacking. The aim of this qualitative study was to get insights into experiences of international authors with developing and implementing guideline-based QI.
We conducted semistructured interviews via phone or skype (September 2017-February 2018) with guideline authors developing guideline-based QI.

Organisations were selected using purposive sampling with a maximum variation of healthcare settings. German Clinical Trials Registry (DRKS00013006).Gorham-Stout disease (GSD) is an extremely rare musculoskeletal disease of unknown aetiology characterised by non-neoplastic proliferation of vascular and lymphatic channels causing massive osteolysis, typically affecting younger individuals. Chylothorax is a known complication of GSD which is postulated to occur from thoracic spine involvement leading to pleural or thoracic duct invasion. In our case, bilateral chylothorax developed in a 60-year-old woman without any thoracic spine involvement of her disease, challenging the proposed mechanism. Despite bilateral pleural drainage and escalating doses of sirolimus, she ultimately developed respiratory failure and shock and succumbed to her illness. Overall survival of GSD is unknown, but when complicated by chylothorax, prognosis is typically poor. GSD represents a diagnostic and management challenge due to the paucity of knowledge surrounding its aetiology and management. These patients require multidisciplinary coordinated care. It is also important to note its high mortality when associated with chylothorax in particular.

V-iTregs as well as C-iTregs prolonged heart allograft survival in WT and Gulo-KO ****. However, there was no difference between the C- and V-iTreg groups. Radiation dose reduction is a major concern in patients who undergo computed tomography (CT) to follow liver and renal abscess.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of ultralow-dose CT with iterative reconstruction (IR) to follow patients with liver and renal abscess.
This prospective study included 18 patients who underwent ultralow-dose CT with IR to follow abscesses (liver abscesses in 10 patients and renal abscesses in 8 patients; ULD group). The control group consisted of 14 patients who underwent follow-up standard-dose CT for liver abscesses during the same period. The objective image noise was evaluated by measuring standard deviation (SD) in the liver and subcutaneous fat to select a specific IR for qualitative analysis. Two radiologists independently evaluated subjective image quality, noise, and diagnostic confidence to evaluate abscess using a five-point Likert scale. Qualitative parameters were compared between the ULD and control groups with the Mann-Whitney U test.
.Drug combinations have demonstrated great potential in cancer treatments. They alleviate drug resistance and improve therapeutic efficacy. The fast-growing number of anti-cancer drugs has caused the experimental investigation of all drug combinations to become costly and time-consuming. Computational techniques can improve the efficiency of drug combination screening. Despite recent advances in applying machine learning to synergistic drug combination prediction, several challenges remain. First, the performance of existing methods is suboptimal. There is still **** space for improvement. Second, biological knowledge has not been fully incorporated into the model. Finally, many models are lack interpretability, limiting their clinical applications. To address these challenges, we have developed a knowledge-enabled and self-attention transformer boosted deep learning model, TranSynergy, which improves the performance and interpretability of synergistic drug combination prediction. TranSynergy is designed so that the cellular effect of drug actions can be explicitly modeled through cell-line gene dependency, gene-gene interaction, and genome-wide drug-target interaction. A novel Shapley Additive Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (SA-GSEA) method has been developed to deconvolute genes that contribute to the synergistic drug combination and improve model interpretability. Extensive benchmark studies demonstrate that TranSynergy outperforms the state-of-the-art method, suggesting the potential of mechanism-driven machine learning. Novel pathways that are associated with the synergistic combinations are revealed and supported by experimental evidences. They may provide new insights into identifying biomarkers for precision medicine and discovering new anti-cancer therapies. Several new synergistic drug combinations have been predicted with high confidence for ovarian cancer which has few treatment options. HIV-infected men have higher rates of delayed diagnosis, reduced antiretroviral treatment (ART) retention and mortality than women. We aimed to assess, by gender, the first two UNAIDS 90 targets in rural southern Mozambique.

Estimated proportion of HIV-infected individuals aware of their status was 75.9% for men and 88.9% for women. In individuals <25 years, we observed up to 22.2% disparity in aeir needs will and their needs will allow us to urgently address the barriers to men accessing care and ensure men are not left behind in the UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets achievement.
Socioeconomic deprivation is known to be associated with worse outcomes in asthma, but there is a lack of population-based evidence of its impact across all stages of patient care. We investigated the association of socioeconomic deprivation with asthma-related care and outcomes across primary and secondary care and with asthma-related death in Wales.
We constructed a national cohort, identified from 76% (2.4 million) of the Welsh population, of continuously treated asthma patients between 2013 and 2017 using anonymised, person-level, linked, routinely collected primary and secondary care data in the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank. We investigated the association between asthma-related health service utilisation, prescribing, and deaths with the 2011 Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD) and its domains. We studied 106,926 patients (534,630 person-years), 56.3% were female, with mean age of 47.5 years (SD = 20.3). Compared to the least deprived patients, the most deprived patiemissions, and substantially higher risk of death. Interventions specifically designed to improve treatment and outcomes for these disadvantaged groups are urgently needed.
