Key Words Pulmonary artery sling, Neonate, Hypothyroidism.Morel-Lavallée lesion is a post-traumatic degloving cyst, usually filled with blood, lymph or necrotic tissue, which mostly develops in the area around greater trochanter. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment is essential to prevent further complications, such as compression of surrounding structures. X-rays have limited use and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the modality of choice in diagnosing the lesion. We report a case of a 35-year female presenting with left thigh pain after a fall from motorcycle almost 21/2 years ago. Ultrasound and MRI confirmed the presence of Morel-Lavallée lesion involving the left pelvis and upper thigh. Given the chronicity of lesion and extensive tissue involvement, the patient underwent surgical excision of the lesion with favourable long-term outcomes. In this case report and literature review, we discuss the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, radiological findings and management options for Morel-Lavallée lesion. Key Words Morel-Lavallée lesion, Post-traumatic cyst, Degloving Injury, Tangential cyst.Pseudo-aneurysm of internal maxillary artery, following a road traffic accident, is a rare clinical scenario. The consequence of pseudo-aneurysm may be spontaneous rupture of the arterial wall, which may eventually lead to life-threatening hemorrhage. We report a case of a 20-year male who presented with recurrent epistaxis. CT scan was performed, which revealed a pseudo-aneurysm of the internal maxillary artery; this was successfully treated by angioembolisation. Similar cases of traumatic pseudo-aneurysms have been reported, however, none presented with recurrent epistaxis after management of pan-facial fractures. Key Words Epistaxis, Pseudo-aneurysm, Angioembolisation, Pan-facial fracture.Cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) spreading superficially to the inner surface of the uterus and replacing the endometrial lining cells with carcinoma cells is called superficial spreading SCC. We, hereby report a 53-year postmenopausal woman who had a history of cervical SCC in situ/high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL). Ultrasonography revealed an enlarged uterus measuring 9.0×6.5×5.0 cm with dilatation of the uterine cavity and the cervical canal. Subsequently, she underwent total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) and bilateral salpingo-ophorectomy with a diagnosis of cervical HSIL involving the endometrium and adenomyosis. This a very rare phenomenon, as the endometrial involvement may be caused by direct extension of the cervical lesion, and occur mainly in postmenopausal women, and should be deligently searched during pathological examination. Key Words HSIL, Cervix, Endometrium, Adenomyosis.Portal hypertension may gradually lead to esophagogastric varices and splenomegaly in the decompensated stage of liver cirrhosis, which requires surgical treatment, if the disease worsens. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/endoxifen-hcl.html Splenectomy with pericardial devascularisation is the routine surgery. One complex complication after splenectomy is upper gastric fistula which can seriously affect the perioperative recovery. Here, we present a case of a 51-year female patient, who recovered completely from non-operative treatment for gastric fistula after splenectomy and pericardial devascularisation. The occurrence of gastric fistula may be strongly related to preoperative preparation, intra-operative procedure and postoperative management. Therefore, personalised management is important for avoiding gastric fistula. Key Words Gastric fistula, Splenectomy, Pericardial devascularisation, Portal hypertension.Osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) is a common disease among the elderly individuals. With the aging of the population development, the incidence of OVCF is increasing. Cementation of vertebral body like percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) is a minimally invasive and effective treatment. However, the application in upper and mid-thoracic vertebrae is rare for poor fluoroscopy view caused by osteopenia vertebral body itself and scapula, sternum block. Inaccurate puncture and high radiation exposure of PVP in upper and mid-thoracic vertebrae still challenge surgeons. Owing to the ability of musculoskeletal ultrasound in revealing the clear real-time view of soft tissues and skeleton, the authors use intraoperative ultrasound-guided PVP to treat eight patients with upper or mid-thoracic vertebra body OVCFs, which has been tested to be a safe, feasible and satisfied technique after the operation and follow-up. To the authors' knowledge, this technique has not been reported elsewhere. Key Words Ultrasound, Percutaneous vertebroplasty, Osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture, Upper and mid-thoracic vertebra body.
To compare the chemoradiotherapy for esophageal cancer followed by surgery study (CROSS) and continuous infusion 5-FU, leucovorin, oxaliplatin, and docetaxel (FLOT) protocols administered in distal esophageal and gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) tumors in terms of effectiveness and toxicity.

Descriptive study.

Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital, Turkey between 2015 and 2020.

Patients diagnosed with distal esophageal and GEJ squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) or adenocarcinoma (ADC), older than 18 years of age, in localised or locally advanced stage were included. Metastatic stages were excluded. Kaplan-Meier was used for survival analysis, log-rank test was performed for comparisons between groups.

A total of 25 patients (44.6%) were treated with CROSS protocol (15 distal esophageal and 10 GEJ tumor), 31 patients (55.4%) with GEJ tumors were treated with the FLOT regimen. Eight of the patients who were administered the CROSS protocol before the operation demonstrated complete pathologicial resete response to the treatment. In patients with GEJ tumors and ADC histopathology, CROSS and FLOT group had similar second years survival (60% and 59.3%, respectively) (p = 0.803). The frequency of neutropenia was significantly higher in the CROSS group compared to the FLOT group (p = 0.004.) Conclusion Postoperative pathological response rate in the CROSS group was significantly higher compared to the FLOT group. CROSS and FLOT protocols contributed to survival similarly in patients with GEJ ADC, hematological side effects were more pronounced in patients receiving CRT. Key Words GEJ cancer, Esophageal cancer, Cross, Flot.
