As an example, we present here the synthesis as well as IR and UV/Vis spectroscopic identification of the previously elusive 1,1,2-ethenetriol, the higher energy enol tautomer of glycolic acid, a rather stable and hence unreactive biological building block. The title compound was generated in the gas phase by flash vacuum pyrolysis of tartronic acid at 400 °C and was subsequently trapped in argon matrices at 10 K. The spectral assignments are supported by B3LYP/6-311++G(2d,2p) computations. Upon photolysis at λ=180-254 nm, 1,1,2-ethenetriol rearranges to glycolic acid and ketene.

A total of 70 acne vulgaris patients treated with isotretinoin and a control group consisting of 68 healthy volunteers were included in the study. Isotretinoin treatment was started at a dose of 0.5mg/kg per day. Nail changes were noted; length and thickness of the nail plate were measured in all participants every month.
The medians of nail growth rates in the isotretinoin and control groups were 3.16 (2.87-3.57)mm/month and 2.89 (2.56-3.19)mm/month, respectively. The medians of nail thickness in the isotretinoin and control groups were 0.47 (0.38-0.53)mm and 0.50 (0.40-0.65)mm, respectively. Statistically significant differences were observed between the groups in terms of nail growth rate and thickness (P<0.01, P=0.02, respectively). Nail findings were observed in nine out of 70 patients (12.8%), mostly onychoschizia.

This registry-based follow-up study focused on all inpatient treatment episodes between 2002 and 2009 (N=2893) in a Finnish hospital for treating addictions. Data from national registers on criminality, hospitalisations and education were linked. Cox regression analysis was used.
Discontinued treatment episodes were 1.4 times more likely to be followed by criminality leading to imprisonment during the 5-year follow-up period compared with completed treatment periods, after adjusting for age, gender, education, substance use diagnoses, earlier mental health disorders and prior imprisonments.
Our findings strengthen the argument for ensuring completion of substance use treatment episodes; better completion rates could decrease the harm caused by serious criminality. Indeed, we recommend that crime reduction should be included to the long-term goals of substance use treatment.

Fungicides of the succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHIs) group have been used in soybean to control Asian soybean rust (ASR) caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi. Fungal populations with less sensitivity to SDHI fungicides have been reported since 2015.
In this study, fungal sensitivity to benzovindiflupyr (BZV) and fluxapyroxad (FXD) was assessed using a total of 770 P. pachyrhizi populations sampled over four soybean growing seasons. Cross-resistance, intrinsic activity, and frequency of SDHC-I86F mutation were also analyzed. The average effective concentration to inhibit 50% (EC
) and SDHC-I86F frequency increased over the 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 soybean-seasons. Fourteen P. pachyrhizi populations had the EC
value above 10mg L
for both carboxamides. No difference was found in intrinsic active to BZV and FXD fungicides for sensitive P. pachyrhizi populations. For P. pachyrhizi classified as less sensitive BZV showed the highest fungitoxicity effect. High frequency of the C-I86tation and low sensitivity to SDHIs are widely distributed in the main soybean growing regions in Brazil and present in volunteer plants in the soybean-free period.
