The aim of this study was to increase knowledge of how individuals think and reason when reporting and valuing their own current health, using EQ-5D-5L, EQ VAS, and an open-ended TTO question.

Twenty patients with type 1 diabetes participated in qualitative individual think aloud interviews in Stockholm, Sweden. Participants were asked to describe their thoughts when responding to three assessments. The interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using thematic analysis.

The analysis showed that participants conducted the assessments by contextualizing and interpreting instructions, relating the questions to their own health, using different recall periods and time perspectives, and using personal, interpersonal, or normative g the quantitative results and contribute to the literature pertaining to possible explanations for differences in health state values depending on the valuation method.
This study provides insights as to how responses to the EQ-5D-5L, EQ VAS, and TTO assessments are complementary and where these assessments differ in adults with a chronic condition. The COVID-19 pandemic has placed sustained demand on health systems globally, and the capacity to provide critical care has been overwhelmed in some jurisdictions. It is unknown which triage criteria for allocation of resources perform best to inform health system decision-making. We sought to summarize and describe existing triage tools and ethical frameworks to aid healthcare decision-making during infectious disease outbreaks.

We conducted a rapid review of triage criteria and ethical frameworks for the allocation of critical care resources during epidemics and pandemics. We searched Medline, EMBASE, and SCOPUS from inception to November 3, 2020. Full-text screening and data abstraction were conducted independently and in duplicate by three reviewers. Articles were included if they were primary research, an adult critical care setting, and the framework described was related to an infectious disease outbreak. We summarized each triage tool and ethical guidelines or framework including their elements anll progress and any future pandemics, jurisdictions should prepare by selecting and adapting a triage tool that works best for their circumstances.

In most studies of climate effects, the focus has been on large-scale environmental indices or temperature averaged over large geographical areas, neglecting that animals are affected by the local conditions in their home ranges. In riverine ecosystems, climate change is altering the flow regime, in addition to changes resulting from the increasing demand for renewable and clean hydropower. Together with increasing temperatures, this can lead to shifts in the time window available for successful breeding of birds associated with the riverine habitat. Here, we investigated specifically how the environmental conditions at the territory level influence timing of breeding in a passerine bird with an aquatic lifestyle, the white-throated dipper Cinclus cinclus. We relate daily river discharge and other important hydrological parameters, to a long-term dataset of breeding phenology (1te change. Measuring environmental variation at the scale of the territory thus provides detailed information about the interactions between organisms and the abiotic environment.
Understanding the molecular basis of insecticide resistance in mosquito, such as Anopheles funestus, is an important step in developing strategies to mitigate the resistance problem. This study aims to assess the role of the GSTe2 gene in DDT resistance and determine the genetic diversity of this gene in An. funestus.

Gene expression analysis was performed using microarrays and PCR while the potential mutation associated with resistance was determined using sequencing.
