Group A included 39 patients operated with less then 12 months of injury. The mean postoperative follow-up was 22.53 months. The interval from injury to surgery ranged from 12 to 19 months (±15.4 months). Patients were evaluated monthly after surgery and the elbow flexion strength was measured using the British Medical Research Council scale. Results In Group A, 24 patients presented with either good (M3) or excellent (M4) elbow flexion strength. In Group B, 9 patients presented with either good (M3) or excellent (M4) elbow flexion strength. A significant difference was not seen in the postoperative elbow flexion strength among the 2 groups. Conclusion Biceps reinnervation with the Oberlin procedure is still feasible and should be attempted after more than 12 months of injury in partial brachial plexus injuries.Objective To investigate the manifestations and incidence of headaches caused by heroin in Chinese women. Methods This was a survey study conducted from 29 June to 3 July 2015 with women attending the Shanxi Drug Rehabilitation Centre for Women (China). All study subjects were newly admitted and had not begun their drug rehabilitation. Demographic characteristics, heroin usage and headache episodes within the previous 3 months were surveyed, especially the presence of a headache within 2 hours of heroin use. Details of the severity, location, premonitory symptoms and characteristics of headaches were recorded. Results Of the 90 heroin-dependent patients, 74 experienced headache attacks within 2 hours of heroin use, and the headaches subsided within 72 hours of discontinuation of heroin use. Most heroin-induced headaches were similar to migraines and manifested as pulsating pain in 54 patients (51/74, 68.9%); bilateral pain was reported by 46 patients (46/74, 62.2%). Approximately half of the patients with heroin-induced headaches also reported accompanying symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and light and sound sensitivity. Conclusions Heroin-induced headache may eventually be listed as a new class of headache in the International Classification of Headache Disorders.Candida auris is an emerging worldwide concern, but comparative data about the virulence of different C. auris lineages in mammalian hosts is lacking. Different isolates of the four prevalent C. auris clades (South Asian n = 5, East Asian n = 4, South African n = 5, and South American n = 5) were compared to assess their virulence in a neutropenic murine bloodstream infection model with C. albicans as reference. C. auris, regardless of clade, proved to be less virulent than C. albicans. Highest overall mortality at day 21 was observed for the South American clade (96%), followed by the South Asian (80%), South African (45%) and East Asian (44%) clades. Fungal burden results showed close correlation with lethality. Histopathological examination revealed large aggregates of blastoconidia and budding yeast cells in the hearts, kidneys and livers but not in the spleens. Good clinical outcomes of RD have been reported. However, the clinical outcomes of RD in skeletally immature children remain unclear, and the associated preoperative and postoperative computed tomography (CT) findings have not been reported. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes and CT findings and clarify the efficacy of RD for OLTs. Methods From January 2015 to April 2018, RD was performed on 8 ankles in 6 skeletally immature children. The patients comprised 4 boys and 2 girls with a mean age at surgery of 11.1 years.
