Patients with rhinosinusitis, nasal polyps or asthma have a high risk of NSAID hypersensitivity. Therefore routinely treatment with NSAIDs should be avoided in these patients.Esophageal atresia is a rare congenital anomaly. Due to increased survival rates, the population of adults born with this malformation is growing. These patients turn out to have an increased risk to develop Barrett's esophagus, esophageal carcinoma or lung abnormalities like bronchiectasis. This is illustrated by three cases a 42-year-old man with an irresectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma; a 23-year-old man with a Barrett's esophagus without any reflux complaints; and a 51-year-old women with a reflux esophagitis and extensive bronchiectasis due to a combination of gastroesophageal reflux with chronic aspiration and a reduced sputum clearance because of a history of tracheomalacia. It is important for healthcare providers to be aware of these risks and the possible absence of symptoms, in order to detect abnormalities at an early stage and improve quality of life of these patients. The World Health Organization launched a campaign on elimination of cervical cancer on November 17th 2020. In this article the authors give an overview of HPV-related cancer in The Netherlands and stress that HPV-vaccinations for boys and girls and screening for women is of utmost importance to eliminated cervical cancer in The Netherlands and the benefit for boys to avoid HPV related cancer themselves. They state that HPV vaccinations are efficient and safe. All Health Workers should counsel boys and girls and their parents toward HPV-vaccination for all.
Evaluate the effectiveness and safety of application of oral glucose to neonates with an increased risk of neonatal hypoglycaemia.
Neonatal hypoglycaemia is a common problem in neonates with potential permanent neurological damage. Recent studies show that the use of oral glucose to prevent and treat neonatal hypoglycaemia leads to a decrease in intravenous glucose administration and fewer clinical admissions. However, oral glucose administration is still rarely used. In 2019 Isala hospital implemented the use of oral glucose in neonates with an increased risk of neonatal hypoglycaemia.
Retrospective evaluation study in Isala hospital between November 1, 2018 and December 31. Neonates with one of the following risk factors for neonatal hypoglycaemia prematurity (gestational age between 34+0-37+0), maternal diabetes requiring medication, asphyxia with an Apgar score <7 at five minutes and/or a birthweight <2500 grams. The frequency of glucose infusions, the lowest glucose value and the type of food were compared between neonates treated before and after the use of oral glucose.
The number of glucose infusions decreased after introduction of oral glucose (14.0% versus 5.9%, -8.1% [-14.1, -2.1]). The lowest measured glucose value (2.2 mmol/l versus 2.5 mmol/l, 0.3 mmol/l [0.15, 0.47]) was significantly higher after introduction of oral glucose. Mild complications (vomiting and food refusal) occurred in 3.8% of neonates receiving oral glucose, all without clinical consequence.
The use of oral glucose administration in neonates with an increased risk of hypoglycaemia reduces the number of intravenous glucose by half and is safe to use.

Physical examination showed a parasternal tumour with a blue hue. After ultrasound SELSTOC (self-limiting sternal tumour of childhood) was diagnosed. SELSTOC is an aseptic inflammation in young children. A wait-and-see policy is recommended in the first weeks.A 57-year-old man, known with severe malnutrition, vitamin E deficiency and peripheral neuropathies, presented with vomiting and abdominal tenderness. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/oprozomib-onx-0912.html There was a suspicion of ileus and small bowel obstruction. During the exploratory laparotomy a complete brown colored bowel without peristalsis was seen.
The term Wolf's isotopic response has been used to describe the occurrence of a new skin disorder at the site of another, unrelated and already healed skin disease.
A 74-year-old man with type 2 diabetes mellitus and prostate carcinoma with osseous and lymphatic metastases developed a herpes zoster infection of the left shoulder after palliative radiation therapy of this area. After several months multiple lenticular erythematous papules and some plaques were seen at the previously infected location. The diagnosis granuloma annulare was confirmed by a punch biopsy.
This case report will increase clinical awareness and will thereby prevent the prescription of unnecessary repeated antiviral medication.

Lymphadenopathy can be the reason for consultation, but can also be observed in patients who present with other complaints. The differential diagnosis is very broad and varies from self-limiting benign disorders, where a wait-and-see policy is sufficient, to a more serious and life-threatening disease for which no further delay is warranted. In daily practice it can sometimes be challenging to determine which policy is indicated. In this article, we propose tools in order to assist the primary care physician to determine which policy is needed in patients presenting with lymphadenopathy.
To describe the care which women with postpartum depression (PPD) in the Netherlands use for their complaints, and the impact of PPD on their general use of care for themselves and for their child, and on their participation in work.
The data came from the control group of a prospective comparative study on the effectiveness of screening for PPD within the setting of Youth Health Care.
We obtained data by means of two online questionnaires. Three weeks postpartum, we examined the background characteristics of the mother. Twelve months postpartum, we inquired about depression since birth, care use for depressive symptoms, general care use since birth for both mother and child, and participation in work up to 12 months postpartum. To test differences, we used chi-square and student t-tests.
Of the 1049 participating women, 99 (9.4%) indicated that they had experienced depression in the year since giving birth. Of the 99 'women with PPD', 71.0% made at least some use of care aimed at their PPD complaints.
