Compared to no supplementation, calcium supplementation was associated with lower total (RR = 0.88, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.77-1.00, I2=0%, four OS) and cancer mortality (RR = 0.71, 95% CI 0.53-0.95, I2=0%, three OS) among all cancer survivors, and cancer mortality among colorectal cancer survivors (RR = 0.66, 95% CI 0.47-0.94, I2=0%, two OS). Vitamin D supplementation was associated with lower total mortality (RR = 0.86, 95% CI 0.76-0.99, I2=0%, three OS and two RCT). Among breast cancer survivors, supplementation with vitamin C (RR = 0.79, 95% CI 0.68-0.92, I2=0%, four OS), D (RR = 0.85, 95% CI 0.72-0.99, I2=0%, two OS), and E (RR = 0.76, 95% CI 0.64-0.90, I2=0%, three OS) was associated with lower total mortality, while multivitamins (RR = 0.79, 95% CI 0.64-0.97, I2=0%, two OS), vitamin C (RR = 0.76, 95% CI 0.64-0.91, I2=0%, two OS), and E (RR = 0.69, 95% CI 0.55-0.85, I2=0%, two OS) with lower cancer recurrence. Conclusions Findings are mostly based on OS. All patients underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and interval debulking surgery (IDS) according to our institution protocol. We divided patients into two groups Group 1 (age ≥ 70 years) and Group 2 (age less then 70 years). The primary outcome of the study was assessment of peri-operative morbidity amongst two groups.Results A total of 153 patients were referred during the study period. 114 patients underwent IDS after NACT (74.5%), 46 in Group 1 and 68 in Group 2. Elderly patients were more likely to receive more than three cycles of NACT prior to IDS compared to younger patients (39% vs. 19%, p = 0.03). Elderly patients were more frequently subjected to Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) as pre-operative assessment (63% vs. 27%, p = 0.002). Optimal/complete resection was achieved in all patients in Group 1 (100%) and in 97% of patients in Group 2. With the exception of higher postoperative cardiac arrhythmias in Group 1 (11% vs. 1%, p = 0.04), no significant differences in 30-day morbidity were observed. No 90-day death in both groups was registered.Conclusion Older age should not preclude clinicians from offering ultra-radical resection to patients with advanced OC after NACT. In our series, elderly patients received the same treatment with similar outcomes to the younger group. Clinicians should be encouraged to use CPET for patients' selection following NACT.This study aims at detecting and evaluating differences in quantitative response to controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) with high doses of gonadotropins in women with low serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH). Older women had a significantly worse outcome with respect to young women, not only qualitatively, but also in terms of quantitative ovarian response to COS [odd ratio (OR) to obtain at least three MII oocytes with each increasing year of female age 0.89, 95% CI 0.85 - 0.94; p less then .001]. This study endorses that age is a significant factor when counseling patients with low AMH. AMH levels per se are not a reason to exclude patients from a COS treatment, since pregnancy and live birth can be achieved, especially in younger patients. However, with an AMH equally low, the ovarian response worsens with age, making questionable the effectiveness of a stimulation with high-dose gonadotropins in the older subgroup.Chronic pain is a complex multidimensional condition that requires management with multiple professions' expertise. This qualitative study engaged twenty healthcare practitioners from multiple professions who had participated in ECHO in focus group discussions about managing patients with chronic pain, about their reasons for and the effect of participating in Project ECHO Ontario Chronic Pain/Opioid Stewardship, and about their perspectives on interprofessional care. The results show that participating in ECHO resulted in personal and professional benefit, and increased understanding about their own roles and limitations, as well as other healthcare professionals' roles.
