The present study used a binding assay to identify novel target biomolecules of l-menthol ([-]-menthol) that promote mouse ambulation. Among 88 different ligands to specific biomolecules examined, 0.1 mM l-menthol inhibited the binding of 13 ligands with relatively high inhibition rates. The assays showed that l-menthol acts on calcium channels, sodium channels, γ-aminobutyric acid type A (GABAA) receptor, GABA transporter, dopamine transporter, dopamine D4 receptor, adenosine A2a receptor, α2A-adrenergic receptor, histamine H2 receptor, bombesin receptor, angiotensin AT1 receptor, vasopressin V2 receptor, and leukotriene B4 receptor over a similar concentration range. The inhibition constant (Ki) for l-menthol inhibition of binding of [3H]-WIN35,428 to the human recombinant dopamine transporter was 6.15 × 10-4 mol/L. The Ki for l-menthol inhibition of binding of [3H]-ethynylbicycloorthobenzoate (EBOB), a ligand of GABAA receptor picrotoxin site, was 2.88 × 10-4 mol/L. These results should aid future research by providing clues for investigating the mechanisms underlying l-menthol activities, including the ambulation-promoting effect. The present results suggest that the dopamine transporter, adenosine A2a receptor, dopamine D4 receptor, α2A-adrenergic receptor, and GABAA receptor are promising candidate molecules that are involved in the mechanisms underlying the psychostimulant-like effect of l-menthol.This research empirically examines the effect of entrepreneurial leadership, entrepreneurial orientation, and technological innovation capability on SMEs' performance. Interestingly, this study investigates the mediating effects of internal organizational factors such as entrepreneurial orientation, team creativity, dynamic capabilities, and competitive advantage on the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and SMEs' performance. The consistent PLS-SEM approach was applied to analyze valid data collected from 182 small and medium IT enterprises operating at Quang Trung Software City, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The empirical results reveal that entrepreneurial leadership via the full mediators of team creativity, dynamic capabilities, and competitive advantages can enhance the performance of IT SMEs. While entrepreneurial orientation does not influence SMEs' business performance, technological innovation capabilities can provide some benefits. Besides, entrepreneurial orientation plays no mediation role in the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and SMEs' performance. Finally, the results allow us to provide meaningful insights and recommendations to manage and promote better entrepreneurial inspiration.Alseodaphne semecarpifolia (Lauraceae) is a traditional medicinal plant historically used in Indian Western Ghats to treat various human diseases. From the past few decades it has been traditionally recognized as an effective agent in cancer treatment. The phytochemical investigation of the stem bark and leaves of A. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/kpt-9274.html semecarpifolia led to the isolation of bioactive flavonoid compounds Icariin and Baicalein. Their structures were elucidated from obtained spectral data (1H NMR, 13C NMR, 1H 1H COSY, FTIR and MS). Cytotoxic activity of Icariin and Baicalein evaluated against MCF-7 cells revealed their potent activity with an IC50 of 42.15 ± 4.78 μg/ml and 44.37 ± 3.46 μg/ml, respectively, while very least effect was observed on normal cells (L6). Present study has suggested that both Icariin and Baicalein have potent cytotoxic activity against MCF-7 cells.Recent evidence demonstrated that chronic intake of quercetin attenuated hepatic fat accumulation in various animal models of obesity and diabetes. However, whether quercetin has the ability to enhance energy metabolism in hepatocytes and its exact mechanisms have yet to be identified. In the present study, we investigated whether quercetin directly enhanced the energy metabolism of cultured hepatocytes by focusing on lipophagy, involving selective autophagic degradation of lipid droplets. As an indicator of mitochondrial respiration, oxygen consumption was measured following 12-h treatment with quercetin or its related flavonoids, isorhamnetin and rutin (10 μM) using an extracellular flux analyzer. Treatment of alpha mouse liver 12 (AML12) hepatocytes with quercetin enhanced mitochondrial respiration, but isorhamnetin and rutin did not. Results of a palmitate-bovine serum albumin fatty acid oxidation assay showed that quercetin significantly increased the oxygen consumption of AML12 hepatocytes, suggesting ety that nutrient-induced lipophagy might contributes to the reduction of fat in hepatocytes. This study investigates the role of the financial system in energy demand in the cases of developed and developing countries. Time-series analyses are carried out using the annual data period from 2000 to 2015. Results indicate that the financial system and financial markets are long-term catalysts for energy consumption in both groups under consideration. Results show that domestic credits by banks positively impact energy demand in developing countries, while this is money supply impacting positively on energy demand in the case of developed nations. The results of this study reveal important policy implications.Waddlia chondrophila is an emerging pathogen that has been implicated in numerous unpropitious pregnancy events in humans and ruminants. Taking into account its association with abortigenic events, possible modes of transmission, and future risk, immediate clinical measures are required to prevent widespread damage caused by this organism and hence this study. Here, a subtractive proteomics approach was employed to identify druggable proteins of W. chondrophila. Considering the essential genes, antibiotic resistance proteins, and virulence factors, 676 unique important proteins were initially identified for this bacterium. Afterward, NCBI BLASTp performed against human proteome identified 223 proteins that were further pushed into KEGG Automatic Annotation Server (KAAS) for automatic annotation. Using the information from the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) database 14 Waddlia specific metabolic pathways were identified with respect to humans. Analyzing the data from KAAS and KEGG databases, forty-eight metabolic pathway-dependent, and seventy metabolic pathway independent proteins were identified.
