Mass drug administration (MDA) can rapidly reduce the burden of Plasmodium falciparum (Pf). However, concerns remain about its contribution to select for antimalarial drug resistance.
We used Sanger sequencing and real-time PCR to determine the proportion of molecular markers associated with antimalarial resistance (k13, pfpm2, pfmdr1 and pfcrt) in Pf isolates collected before (n = 99) and after (n = 112) the implementation of two monthly MDA rounds with dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine (DHAp) for two consecutive years in Magude district of Southern Mozambique.
None of the k13 polymorphisms associated with artemisinin resistance were observed in the Pf isolates analyzed. To clarify the factors underlying the discomfort status and predictive factors for strong cough during bronchoscopy, we prospectively evaluated patients who underwent bronchoscopy at Kyorin University Hospital between March 2018 and July 2019. Before and after bronchoscopy, the enrolled patients answered a questionnaire regarding the procedure. At the same time, bronchoscopists evaluated cough severity using a four-grade cough scale. We evaluated patient characteristics and predictive factors associated with bronchoscopy from the perspective of discomfort and strong cough. A total of 172 patients were ultimately enrolled in this study. On multivariate logistic regression analysis, comparison of the subjective data between the discomfort and comfort groups revealed that factors that were more common in the former group were younger age (OR = 0.96, p = 0.002), less experienced bronchoscopist (OR = 2.08, p = 0.047), and elevation of cough score per 1 point (OR = 1.69, p less then 0.001). Furthermore, the predictive factors for strong cough prior to performing bronchoscopy were female sex (OR = 2.57, p = 0.009), EBUS-TBNA (OR = 2.95, p = 0.004), and prolonged examination time of more than 36 min (OR = 2.32, p = 0.022). Regarding patients' discomfort, younger age, less experienced bronchoscopist, and the elevation of cough score per 1 point were important factors for discomfort in bronchoscopy. (V.) lainsoni in two samples, which has never been reported. Strong evidence is lacking to support effectiveness of currently implemented tuberculosis infection prevention control (TB-IPC) measures for preventing nosocomial tuberculosis (TB) transmission. This 13-year analysis is the longest follow-up investigation to date to identify risk factors underlying nosocomial TB transmission.
We monitored all staff of Beijing Chest Hospital each year from 2006 to 2018. Age, gender, duration, department, education, income, respirator, ultraviolet, and ventilation were chosen as variables. Univariate cox regression, correlation analysis, and multivariate cox regression were analyzed sequentially.
Using multivariable cox regression analysis, variables of income, ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI), natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation conferred significant protective effects, with odds ratios of 0.499, 0.058, 0.003, and 0.015, respectively (P < 0.05). Medical N95 respirator conferred an excellent protective effect, with an associated TB infection rate of 0%. Notably, inadequately maintained mechanical ventilation systems were less protective than natural ventilation systems.

Concepts such as participation and environment may differ across cultures. Consequently, to use a measure like the Participation and Environment Measure for Children and Youth (PEM-CY) in other than the original English-speaking contexts, cultural adaptation needs to be assured. The aim of this study was to cross-culturally translate and adapt the PEM-CY into German as it is used in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Fifteen parents of children and adolescents with disabilities from three German speaking countries participated in three rounds of think-aloud interviews. We followed the procedure of cultural equivalence guidelines including two additional steps. Data was analyzed by content analysis using semantic, idiomatic, experiential and conceptual equivalence.
Results show adaptations mainly focused on experiential and conceptual equivalence, with conceptual equivalence being the most challenging to reach. Examples of experiential equivalence included adapting the examples of activities in the PEM-CY to reflect those typical in German speaking countries. Conceptual equivalence mainly addressed aspects of "involvement" and "environment" of children and adolescents and was reached through adaptations such as enhanced instructions and structures, and additional definitions.
This study presents a cross-cultural translation and adaptation process to develop a German version of the PEM-CY that is suitable for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This study aimed to explore the effects of activating GABAB1 receptor by baclofen on proliferation, migration, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of ovarian cancer cells.
One hundred μmol/L, 200 μmol/L and 300 μmol/L were selected as low, medium and high baclofen concentrations respectively. Cells were divided into four groups Control, 100 μmol/L, 200 μmol/L and 300 μmol/L. Compared with the control group, the viability, colony formation, migration and invasion of SKOV3 cells were inhibited, and the apoptosis of SKOV3 cells were enhanced significantly at 200 μmol/L and 300 μmol/L baclofen. Moreover, they changed significantly with the increase of baclofen concentration. Compared with the control group, the expression of E-cadherin and GABAB1 increased and the N-cadherin expression decreased significantly in 200 μmol/L and 300 μmol/L groups. Higher concentration of baclofen induced higher expression of E-cadherin and lower expression of N-cadherin.

Genetic alterations play an important role in the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). Identifying new biomarkers to assess the prognosis of patients with CRC is critical. Cartilage intermediate layer protein 2 (CILP2) gene, screened from TCGA database by bioinformatics, may be closely related to the progression of CRC. CILP2 was barely reported with clinical features of tumors.

Hierarchical nano/micro-structured photocatalysts design draws attention to enhance photocatalytic performances. In this work, first time we report d eep eutectic solvents (DESs) assisted synthesis of flower structured BiOCl/BiVO 4 (****BVO) with g-C 3 N 4 (****BVO/g-CN) ternary heterojunction composites were successfully prepared using a simple wet-chemical method as a good acidic and alkaline oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts. The OER activity showed on ****BVO/g-CN-15 achieved an enhanced photocatalytic activity with overpotential of 570 mV in 1M H 2 SO 4 and 220 mV in 1M KOH electrolyte at the current density of 10 mA cm -2 with excellent stability and extraordinary durability of the catalysts. The ternary heterojunctions reveal the extended lifetime of photogenerated charges and enhanced the separation efficiency of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, which is helpful to enhance the photocatalytic OER. Furthermore, we demonstrate the photocatalytic active performance of ternary heterojunctions in aqueous solution by using the photocatalytic dye degradation of methyl orange (MO) as a model pollutant displays a 95% degradation of 20 ppm of MO in 210 minutes under the irradiation of a 35 W Xe arc lamp. KGaA, Weinheim.OBJECTIVE To identify the extent to which opioid prescribing rates for patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) varied in the U.S. and to determine the implications of baseline opioid prescribing rates on future probability of chronic opioid use. METHODS We identified patients with RA from physicians who contributed ≥10 patients within the first 12 months of participation in the Consortium of Rheumatology Researchers of North America (Corrona) RA registry. Baseline opioid prescribing rate was calculated by dividing the number of patients with RA reporting opioid use during the first 12 months by the number of patients with RA providing data that year. To estimate odds ratios (ORs) for chronic opioid use, we used generalized linear mixed models. RESULTS The percent of patients who reported chronic opioid use during the follow-up period was 7.0% (163/2322) in the very low (referent) intensity prescribing group compared to 6.8% (153/2254) in the low intensity prescribing group, 12.5% (294/2352) in the moderate prescribing group, and 12.7% (307/2409) in the high prescribing group. The OR (95% confidence interval) for chronic opioid use after the baseline period was 1.16 (0.79 to 1.70) for patients of low prescribing physicians, 1.89 (1.27 to 2.82) for patients of moderate prescribing physicians, and 2.01 (1.43 to 2.83) for patients of high prescribing physicians, compared to very low prescribing physicians. CONCLUSIONS Rates of opioid prescriptions varied widely. In total, 773 patients with chronic HBV infection were enrolled in this hospital-based case-control study. The patients were divided into groups according to their clinical characteristics 596 patients had chronic hepatitis B (CHB), and 177 patients had hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A total of 313 patients with self-limited HBV infection were selected as the control group. CIITA gene variants were screened using Haploview 4.2 software; improved multiplex ligation detection reaction technology was then used for genotype detection, and HaploReg v4.1 was employed to predict the functions of 15 variants. The results showed that SNPs in introns in the CIITA gene, namely, rs13333382 (TT + TA vs. AA p = .003, odds ratio (OR) = 0.65, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.49-0.87) and rs4780335 (CC + CG vs. GG p = 9.40 × 10-5 , OR = 0.55, 95% CI = 0.41-0.74), were positively associated with self-limited HBV infection in the dominant genetic model. Additionally, SNP rs1139564 (TT + TC vs. CC p = .002, OR = 1.61, 95% CI = 1.19-2.16) in the 3' untranslated region may increase the risk of CHB. According to in silico analysis, all three statistically significant variants act as transcription factor binding motifs. However, we did not find that these 15 mutations are associated with HCC risk. Hierarchical nano/micro-structured photocatalysts design draws attention to enhance photocatalytic performances. In this work, first time we report d eep eutectic solvents (DESs) assisted synthesis of flower structured BiOCl/BiVO 4 (BOC/BVO) with g-C 3 N 4 (BOC/BVO/g-CN) ternary heterojunction composites were successfully prepared using a simple wet-chemical method as a good acidic and alkaline oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts. The OER activity showed on BOC/BVO/g-CN-15 achieved an enhanced photocatalytic activity with overpotential of 570 mV in 1M H 2 SO 4 and 220 mV in 1M KOH electrolyte at the current density of 10 mA cm -2 with excellent stability and extraordinary durability of the catalysts. The ternary heterojunctions reveal the extended lifetime of photogenerated charges and enhanced the separation efficiency of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, which is helpful to enhance the photocatalytic OER. Furthermore, we demonstrate the photocatalytic active performance of ternary heterojunctions in aqueous solution by using the photocatalytic dye degradation of methyl orange (MO) as a model pollutant displays a 95% degradation of 20 ppm of MO in 210 minutes under the irradiation of a 35 W Xe arc lamp. KGaA, Weinheim.OBJECTIVE To identify the extent to which opioid prescribing rates for patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) varied in the U.S. and to determine the implications of baseline opioid prescribing rates on future probability of chronic opioid use. METHODS We identified patients with RA from physicians who contributed ≥10 patients within the first 12 months of participation in the Consortium of Rheumatology Researchers of North America (Corrona) RA registry. Baseline opioid prescribing rate was calculated by dividing the number of patients with RA reporting opioid use during the first 12 months by the number of patients with RA providing data that year. To estimate odds ratios (ORs) for chronic opioid use, we used generalized linear mixed models. RESULTS The percent of patients who reported chronic opioid use during the follow-up period was 7.0% (163/2322) in the very low (referent) intensity prescribing group compared to 6.8% (153/2254) in the low intensity prescribing group, 12.5% (294/2352) in the moderate prescribing group, and 12.7% (307/2409) in the high prescribing group. The OR (95% confidence interval) for chronic opioid use after the baseline period was 1.16 (0.79 to 1.70) for patients of low prescribing physicians, 1.89 (1.27 to 2.82) for patients of moderate prescribing physicians, and 2.01 (1.43 to 2.83) for patients of high prescribing physicians, compared to very low prescribing physicians. CONCLUSIONS Rates of opioid prescriptions varied widely. CONCLUSION Despite being prescribed twice as many minutes of exercise and accumulating significantly more purposeful exercise, CRF improvements were similar across 12 months of free-living HIIT and **** in previously low-active individuals with overweight/obesity.BACKGROUND Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved intracellular process that is used for delivering proteins and organelles to the lysosome for degradation. For decades, autophagy has been speculated to regulate amyloid-β peptide (Aβ) accumulation, which is involved in Alzheimer's disease (AD); however, specific autophagic effects on the Aβ kinetics only have begun to be explored. RESULTS We develop a mathematical model for autophagy with respect to Aβ kinetics and perform simulations to understand the quantitative relationship between Aβ levels and autophagy activity. In the case of an abnormal increase in the Aβ generation, the degradation, secretion, and clearance rates of Aβ are significantly changed, leading to increased levels of Aβ. When the autophagic Aβ degradation is defective in addition to the increased Aβ generation, the Aβ-regulation failure is accompanied by elevated concentrations of autophagosome and autolysosome, which may further clog neurons. CONCLUSIONS The model predicts that modulations of different steps of the autophagy pathway (i.e., Aβ sequestration, autophagosome maturation, and intralysosomal hydrolysis) have significant step-specific and combined effects on the Aβ levels and thus suggests therapeutic and preventive implications of autophagy in AD.BACKGROUND Mimicking ischemia-reperfusion injury, oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD)-re-oxygenation (OGDR) applied to endometrial cells produces significant oxidative stress and programmed necrosis, which can be inhibited by nuclear-factor-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling. MicroRNA (miRNA)-induced repression of Keap1, a Nrf2 suppressor protein that facilitates Nrf2 degradation, is novel strategy to activate Nrf2 cascade. METHODS MicroRNA-941 (miR-941) was exogenously expressed in HESC and primary human endometrial cells, and the Nrf2 pathway examined by Western blotting and real-time quantitative PCR analysis. The endometrial cells were treated with OGDR, cell programmed necrosis and apoptosis were tested. RESULTS MiR-941 is a novel Keap1-targeting miRNA that regulates Nrf2 activity. In T-HESC cells and primary human endometrial cells, ectopic overexpression of miR-941 suppressed Keap1 3'-UTR (untranslated region) expression and downregulated its mRNA/protein expression, leading to activation of the Nrf2 cascade. We aimed to evaluate the accuracy and quality of videos uploaded to YouTube about Bankart lesion without diagnostic or treatment-related criteria. METHODS Various keywords were searched for on YouTube. Videos were evaluated with the DISCERN and JAMA Benchmark scoring systems by two independent reviewers. RESULTS A total of 48 videos were taken into evaluation as a result of the search. The mean view count was 28909.68 ± 30264.3. Mean length of the videos was 313,06 ± 344.65. The average DISCERN score of both reviewers was 2.35 ± 0.91. The average JAMA Benchmark score of both reviewers was 2.11 ± 0.77. CONCLUSION We concluded that the accuracy and reliability of the videos obtained from YouTube by searching for the words Bankart and labrum lesion/injury/treatment are low.BACKGROUND Information about renal diseases in children is available from national registries of renal biopsies. Aim of the study was to compare the clinical presentation of glomerular diseases and tubulointerstitial space diseases with pathohistological diagnosis of indicated renal biopsies from pediatric population in the Croatian region of Dalmatia. METHODS Out of 231 pediatric patients with suspected glomerular and tubulointerstitial diseases, 54 underwent ultrasound-guided renal biopsy at University Hospital of Split. Kidney allograft biopsy, and re-biopsy were excluded. The biopsy sections were examined under light microscopy, immunofluorescence and electron microscopy. The data was reviewed to determine the pathohistological spectrum and clinicopathologic correlations. We retrospectively analyzed kidney biopsy data from 2008 to 2017 and compared them to that between 1995 and 2005. RESULTS The mean age of patients was 9.84 ± 5.4 years. Malefemale ratio was 1.21. The main indications for biopsy were pure nephrotic syndrome without hematuria (25.9%), non-nephrotic proteinuria with haematuria (22.2%), nephritic syndrome with nephrotic proteinuria (18.5%), and isolated hematuria (16.7%). The most common pathohistological findings were IgA nephropathy (IgAN, 24.1%), minimal change disease (MCD, 16.7%), Henoch-Schönlein purpura glomerulonephritis (HSPN, 14.8%), Alport syndrome and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (AS and FSGS, 11.1% each), tubulointerstitial nephritis and membranous glomerulopathy (TIN and MGN, 3.7% each), while other cases were diagnosed rarely. CONCLUSIONS Changes in epidemiology of renal diseases in children between the analyzed periods showed an increasing trend of IgAN, MCD, HSPN, AS and FSGS, while mesangioproliferative glomerulonephritis (MesPGN) and endoproliferative glomerulonephritis (EDGN) showed a decreasing trend that can be explained with the new pathohistological classification.

The most common pathohistological findings were IgA nephropathy (IgAN, 24.1%), minimal change disease (MCD, 16.7%), Henoch-Schönlein purpura glomerulonephritis (HSPN, 14.8%), Alport syndrome and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (AS and FSGS, 11.1% each), tubulointerstitial nephritis and membranous glomerulopathy (TIN and MGN, 3.7% each), while other cases were diagnosed rarely. Endometriosis is a common and painful condition characterised by the formation of endometrial lesions within the peritoneal cavity. Previous studies have suggested a role for hedgehog signalling in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. We investigated the role of hedgehog signalling in the establishment of endometriosis lesions using 5E1, a hedgehog ligand neutralising antibody, and a mouse model of endometriosis. The results showed low to moderate heavy metal pollution in the sediments by Cu with possible effects on the biota in a site with sewage waters' discharges. Except for GST that was explained by Cd, the biomarkers employed were not useful to assess spatial heavy metal pollution, and they might be ruled out by physiological seasonal variations rather than anthropogenic constraints, or another type of pollutants in the area.

DNA methylation of WNT3A in umbilical cord blood was determined among 59 NSCL/P cases and 118 non-malformed controls. Mediation analysis was performed to evaluate the potential mediating effect of WNT3A methylation on association between concentrations of Pb in umbilical cord and risk for NSCL/P. Additionally, an animal experiment in which cleft palates were induced by lead acetate was conducted.
The overall average methylation level of WNT3A was significant higher in NSCL/P cases as compared to controls. The risk for NSCL/P was increased by 1.90-fold with hypermethylation of WNT3A. Significant correlation was observed between concentrations of Pb in umbilical cord and methylation level of WNT3A. The hypermethylation of WNT3A had a mediating effect by 9.32% of total effect of Pb on NSCL/P risk. Gender-specific association between WNT3A methylation and NSCL/P was observed in male fetuses, and the percentage of the mediating effect increased to 14.28%. Germ cell degenerations were investigated in birds of all age groups, namely pre-pubertal, pubertal, adult, and aged. Apoptosis of germ cells in the quails, as shown by hematoxylin & eosin (H&E), TdT dUTP Nick End Labeling (TUNEL) assay and electron microscopy, was similar to that observed in previous studies of germ cells and somatic cells of mammalian species. The observed morphological features of these apoptotic cells ranged from irregular plasma and nuclear membranes in the early stage of apoptosis to rupture of the nuclear membrane, condensation of nuclear material, as well as fragments of apoptotic bodies, in later stages of apoptosis. In the TUNEL-positive cell counts, there was a significant difference between the mean cell counts for the four age groups (P less then 0.05). Post hoc analysis revealed a highly significant difference in the aged group relative to the pubertal and adult age groups, while the cell counts of the pre-pubertal group were significantly higher than those of the pubertal group. A 10-item short form (SCQOLS-10) may serve as a quick, valid and reliable assessment of the overall level of quality of life. OBJECTIVE A conceptually oriented pre-processing of a large number of potential prognostic factors may improve the development of a prognostic model. This study investigated whether various forms of conceptually oriented pre-processing or the preselection of established factors was superior to using all factors as input. STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING We made use of an existing project which developed two conceptually oriented subgroupings of low ****-pain patients. Based on the prediction of six outcome variables by seven statistical methods, this type of pre-processing was compared with medical experts' preselection of established factors, as well as with using all 112 available baseline factors. RESULTS Subgrouping of patients was associated with low prognostic capacity. Applying a Lasso-based variable selection to all factors or to domain-specific principal component scores performed best. The preselection of established factors showed a good compromise between model complexity and prognostic capacity. CONCLUSION The prognostic capacity is hard to improve by means of a conceptually oriented pre-processing when compared to purely statistical approaches. However, a careful selection of already established factors combined in a simple linear model should be considered as an option when constructing a new prognostic rule based on a large number of potential prognostic factors. Autoantibodies play an important role in the destruction of non-infected red blood cells (nRBCs) during malaria. However, the relationship between this clearance and ABO blood groups is yet to be fully enlightened, especially for Plasmodium vivax infections. Here we show that anti-RBC IgG and IgM are increased in anemic patients with acute vivax malaria. Furthermore, both antibodies are able to decrease the deformability of nRBCs, but only IgG can induce in vitro erythrophagocytosis. Such effects are enhanced in type O erythrocytes, suggesting that individuals from this blood group infected with P. vivax malaria may be more susceptible to develop anemia. Bean yellow disorder virus (BnYDV) was first detected in 2003 and caused major economic damage in crops grown in greenhouses. It was characterized as the first crinivirus to infect a member species of the Leguminosae family. Symptoms induced during BnYDV infection include interveinal chlorosis and yellowing on leaves, and reduced fruit yield and quality. Similar symptoms, although more severe, were observed in bean crops in the same region during the fall of 2011. From that moment on, BnYDV was not detected anymore in diseased plants, but instead lettuce chlorosis virus (LCV) was associated with the diseased plants. Previously, LCV was detected only in California, USA, infecting lettuce and sugarbeets. The host range and partial genomic sequences lead to the description of the new strain, LCV-SP. The complete sequence of its genome revealed the virus as a recombinant of BnYDV and LCV, in which the latter had s in bean crops will depend on efficient control of the vector. OBJECTIVE A conceptually oriented pre-processing of a large number of potential prognostic factors may improve the development of a prognostic model. This study investigated whether various forms of conceptually oriented pre-processing or the preselection of established factors was superior to using all factors as input. STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING We made use of an existing project which developed two conceptually oriented subgroupings of low back-pain patients. Based on the prediction of six outcome variables by seven statistical methods, this type of pre-processing was compared with medical experts' preselection of established factors, as well as with using all 112 available baseline factors. RESULTS Subgrouping of patients was associated with low prognostic capacity. Applying a Lasso-based variable selection to all factors or to domain-specific principal component scores performed best. The preselection of established factors showed a good compromise between model complexity and prognostic capacity. CONCLUSION The prognostic capacity is hard to improve by means of a conceptually oriented pre-processing when compared to purely statistical approaches. However, a careful selection of already established factors combined in a simple linear model should be considered as an option when constructing a new prognostic rule based on a large number of potential prognostic factors. CYP2D6 poor metabolizers (PMs) were consistently shown to have increased concentrations of risperidone relative to normal metabolizers (NMs). PMs were also consistently shown to have a greater propensity to experience antipsychotic (primarily risperidone) associated adverse drug reactions relative to NMs. However, robust evidence for an association between CYP2D6 and efficacy was less apparent. Consecutive IBD patients on IFX originator were switched to CT-P13 and followed-up for 12months. Clinical activity, infliximab trough levels (ITLs), anti-drug antibodies (ATIs), and adverse events were recorded at predefined timepoints (baseline, second CT-P13 infusion, 6 and 12months). The outcomes investigated were immunogenicity, pharmacokinetics, effectiveness and safety.
119 patients were switched to CT-P13 after a median time with IFX of 5.8years. No changes in mean ITLs were observed. ATIs were detected in 30 patients (25.2%) 14 before and 16 after switch. Methods Ultrasonographic scanning was performed from the upper medial eyebrow to the lateral side of the superior temporal line in 109 volunteers. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed on five specimens at the same area as ultrasonographic scanning. Then, four embalmed cadavers were dissected from the orbicularis oculi, frontalis muscle, superficial temporal fascia, and SMAS to confirm the location and continuation pattern of the ROOF and subSMAS fat. Results On ultrasonography and histological images, there was a continuous fatty layer from the ROOF to the subSMAS fat. When dissecting, the ROOF, which was located deep below the frontalis muscle, also continued to the subSMAS fat, passing through the superior temporal line in the upper temporal region. Conclusions This study confirmed that the subSMAS fat is an anatomical fat structure that is continuous with the ROOF. Results A total of 20 eligible studies comprising 1078 children and youth were evaluated. The included studies were of fair to moderate quality and included mostly males, individuals of European ancestry, and those treated with risperidone. CYP2D6 poor metabolizers (PMs) were consistently shown to have increased concentrations of risperidone relative to normal metabolizers (NMs). PMs were also consistently shown to have a greater propensity to experience antipsychotic (primarily risperidone) associated adverse drug reactions relative to NMs. However, robust evidence for an association between CYP2D6 and efficacy was less apparent. Conclusion and Clinical Significance The current knowledge base suggests that CYP2D6 genetic variation has an appreciable impact on antipsychotic pharmacokinetics and the propensity for adverse drug reactions, particularly among children receiving risperidone treatment. However, several limitations with the current literature (e.g., sample sizes, study design, sample heterogeneity) should be addressed in future studies. Assuming that future studies support the link between CYP2D6 genetic variation and antipsychotic outcomes, we would anticipate an increase in the implementation of CYP2D6-guided antipsychotic drug selection and dose optimization in child and adolescent psychiatric services. Switching from IFX originator to CT-P13 is safe; however, little data on immunogenicity exists. Consecutive IBD patients on IFX originator were switched to CT-P13 and followed-up for 12months. Clinical activity, infliximab trough levels (ITLs), anti-drug antibodies (ATIs), and adverse events were recorded at predefined timepoints (baseline, second CT-P13 infusion, 6 and 12months). The outcomes investigated were immunogenicity, pharmacokinetics, effectiveness and safety. 119 patients were switched to CT-P13 after a median time with IFX of 5.8years. No changes in mean ITLs were observed. ATIs were detected in 30 patients (25.2%) 14 before and 16 after switch. Mean persistent ATIs were significantly higher compared to mean transient ones (109.74ng/mL ±84.70 vs 18.22ng/mL ±11.37, p <0.001), with significantly lower ITLs associated (mean 0.32µg/mL ±0.6 vs 3.08µg/mL ±3.22, p <0.001). A significant decrease of patients in steroid-fee clinical remission was observed after the switch (p=0.004), with subsequent improvement at 6months (p=0.005). Eighteen patients (15.1%) discontinued IFX, only 6 (5%) for loss of response. Switching from infliximab originator to CT-P13 seems safe and effective, without differences in immunogenicity. A temporary reduction of clinical benefit after switching could be potentially explained by a 'nocebo-effect response'. Methods Ultrasonographic scanning was performed from the upper medial eyebrow to the lateral side of the superior temporal line in 109 volunteers. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed on five specimens at the same area as ultrasonographic scanning. Then, four embalmed cadavers were dissected from the orbicularis oculi, frontalis muscle, superficial temporal fascia, and SMAS to confirm the location and continuation pattern of the ROOF and subSMAS fat. Results On ultrasonography and histological images, there was a continuous fatty layer from the ROOF to the subSMAS fat. When dissecting, the ROOF, which was located deep below the frontalis muscle, also continued to the subSMAS fat, passing through the superior temporal line in the upper temporal region. Conclusions This study confirmed that the subSMAS fat is an anatomical fat structure that is continuous with the ROOF. Since the subSMAS fat layer is known as a less vascular area, it is considered a safer layer to avoid serious complications, and injecting accurately into the subSMAS fat layer has been a goal of clinicians. The mechanism underlying the antiproliferative effects was investigated by measuring the expression of the pro-apoptotic marker (Bax), CASP-3, anti-apoptotic (Bcl-2), and, tumor suppressor (p53) by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and western blot analysis. Cell cycle analysis was performed for the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. GA, paclitaxel, and carboplatin alone or in combination arrested cell cycle progression at the G2/M phase and induced Pre-G1 apoptosis. RT-PCR showed that the triplet combination significantly raised P53, Bax, and CASP-3 mRNA expression (20.1 ± 1.41, 16.6 ± 0.43, and 20.04 ± 1.61, respectively) in MCF-7 cells when compared to single or combined treatment (p less then .0001) while anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 mRNA levels were decreased in all treated groups compared to untreated cells. Western blot data of tested apoptotic factors were consistent with RT-PCR results. To explore rehabilitation goals and experiences with goal striving in patients with rheumatic diseases after rehabilitation discharge.
Thirty-three patients with rheumatic diseases participated in goal-setting conversations with healthcare professionals during a 1-week rehabilitation programme. After discharge, they received four follow-up phone calls over a period of 5 months to support individual goal striving and self-management. A qualitative thematic analysis was conducted of the patients' rehabilitation goals, action plans and their statements about their experiences pursuing their goals at home after discharge.
Analysis revealed that the experiences were related to five overarching themes (1) things take time, (2) the importance of changing ways of thinking, (3) the pieces fall into place, (4) own health = own responsibility and (5) events outside of the plan.
At discharge, the participants had set between one and five long-term goals, focussing mainly on having a healthier lifestyle and a bettn challenges when pursuing their goals. HLA association fine-mapping studies have shown the effects of missense variants in HLA-DRB1 on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) susceptibility, prognosis, and autoantibody production. However, the phenotypic effects of expression changes in HLA-DRB1 remain poorly understood. Therefore, we investigated the allele-specific expression of HLA-DRB1 and its effect on an HLA-DRβ1 structure-associated trait in RA.
We quantified the allele-specific expression of each HLA-DRB1 3-field classic allele in 48 Korean RA patients with anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs) and 319 healthy European subjects by using both RNA sequencing and HLA-DRB1 genotype data to calculate the relative expression strength of multiple HLA-DRB1 alleles (n = 14 in Koreans and n = 25 in Europeans) in each population. The known association between ACPA level and alanine at position 74 of HLA-DRβ1 in ACPA-positive RA was revisited to understand the phenotypic effect of allele-specific expression of HLA-DRB1 by modeling multivariate logistic regression with the genomic dosage or relative expression dosage of Ala-74 in 2 independent sets of 1,723 Korean RA patients with ACPA.
The relative expression strength was highly allele-specific, causing imbalanced allelic expression in HLA-DRB1 heterozygotes. The association between HLA-DRβ1 Ala-74 and ACPA level in RA was better explained by relative expression dosage of Ala-74 than by the genomic dosage (change in Akaike's information criterion = -6.98). Migratory birds travel vast distances and the timing of migratory flights can affect survival and the ability to reproduce. For Neotropical migrant songbirds, early spring departure from wintering sites, early arrival to the breeding grounds and higher reproductive success have been related to the use of suitable habitats and environmental conditions during the non-breeding season. However, how migratory strategies are shaped by winter habitat choice is largely unknown due to the general inability to track birds from specific wintering habitats to stopovers or breeding destinations. We assessed how winter habitat (native forest vs. shade-grown coffee plantations) relates to spring departure date and migration pace in Swainson's Thrush Catharus ustulatus. We also determined the effect of departure date and total migration duration on the arrival date of birds detected near or within their breeding range. We used a novel application of Motus radiotelemetry arrays to track individuals from their wintering grounded complexity in migratory decisions by long-distance migrants that contrast with the current paradigm of earlier departures and arrival from optimal habitats. The next step is to understand the relative fitness benefits of early versus late schedules or whether each strategy is an equally good response to experienced conditions.Ticks account for an extensive range of health and welfare issues in horses. In addition, tick-borne pathogens (TBPs) limit global animal trading and equine sporting events. Here, we assess the prevalence, co-infectivity and risk factors of TBPs in horse ticks in Korea. A total of 245 hard ticks, including 103 male and 142 female adults, were obtained from horses on Jeju Island during the spring to autumn seasons of 2013-2019. All collected ticks were identified as adult Haemaphysalis longicornis. We screened and analyzed each tick for the presence of several TBPs by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis. Among the 245 ticks, we detected genes for three TBPs, Candidatus Rickettsia longicornii (22.9%), Ehrlichia canis (0.4%) and Theileria luwenshuni (0.4%), while Anaplasma spp. was not detected. TBPs were most prevalent in ticks harvested during the autumn season, and more abundant in the female than male adults. This is the first report of the genera Ehrlichia, Rickettsia and Theileria in horse ticks in Korea. TBPs in horse ticks are likely a reservoir for zoonotic transmission to other animals, including humans. Our findings demonstrate the need for further understanding of the prevalence and epidemiology of TBPs in wild and domestic animals.Metabolic disorders have a large heritable component, and have increased markedly in human populations over the past few generations. Here, we report a study designed to quantify the cumulative effects of spontaneous mutation on adenosine metabolism in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, including both the activity and concentration of two metabolic enzymes and the standing pools of their associated metabolites. The only prior studies on the effects of mutation on metabolic enzyme activity, in Drosophila melanogaster, found that total enzyme activity presents a mutational target similar to that of morphological and life-history traits. However, those studies were not designed to account for short-term heritable effects. We find that the short-term heritable variance for most traits is of similar magnitude as the variance among MA lines. This result suggests that the potential heritable effects of epigenetic variation in metabolic disease warrant additional scrutiny.
To describe the semiology of pain and its associated features in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and headache presenting to the emergency department who do not require urgent services.
Headache is one of the most frequent neurological symptoms reported in case series, epidemiological studies, and meta-analyses of COVID-19, with a prevalence ranging from 8 to 71.1%. Studies addressing the semiology of these headaches are lacking.

Of the 145 confirmed and probable COVID-19 patients, 99 (68.3%) reported headache. A total of 54/99 (54.5%) were classified with probable COVID-19 and 45/99 (45.5%) wto present with earlier, longer, and more intense headaches.

We performed a cross-sectional analysis of the 2014 Health and Retirement Study, a nationally representative study of older Americans. Participants were asked questions to assess domains of aging, including function, cognition, and medical conditions. We included participants 65 years and older with 2 years of continuous Medicare enrollment who met AF diagnosis criteria by claims codes. Headache is one of the most frequent neurological symptoms reported in case series, epidemiological studies, and meta-analyses of COVID-19, with a prevalence ranging from 8 to 71.1%. Studies addressing the semiology of these headaches are lacking. A standardized questionnaire was used for data collection. Of the 145 confirmed and probable COVID-19 patients, 99 (68.3%) reported headache. A total of 54/99 (54.5%) were classified with probable COVID-19 and 45/99 (45.5%) wto present with earlier, longer, and more intense headaches. Headache is a very prevalent COVID-19 symptom among patients presenting to the emergency room, most frequently presenting as holocranial or bifrontal moderate to severe, and pressing quality headache. Individuals with migraine tend to present with earlier, longer, and more intense headaches. Although guidelines recommend focusing primarily on stroke risk to recommend anticoagulants in atrial fibrillation (AF), physicians report that geriatric syndromes (e.g., falls and disability) are important when considering anticoagulants. Little is known about the prevalence of geriatric syndromes in older adults with AF or the association with anticoagulant use. We performed a cross-sectional analysis of the 2014 Health and Retirement Study, a nationally representative study of older Americans. Participants were asked questions to assess domains of aging, including function, cognition, and medical conditions. We included participants 65 years and older with 2 years of continuous Medicare enrollment who met AF diagnosis criteria by claims codes. We examined five geriatric syndromes one or more falls within the last 2 years, receiving help with activities of daily living (ADLs) or instrumental ADLs (IADL), experienced incontinence, and cognitive impairment.
