  • The intra-tumor microbiota has been increasingly implicated in cancer pathogenesis. In this study, we aimed to examine the microbiome in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) and determine its compositional differences with relation to age and gender. After grouping 497 LUAD and 433 LUSC patients by age and gender and removing potential contaminants, we identified differentially abundant microbes in each patient cohort vs. adjacent normal samples. We then correlated dysregulated microbes with patient survival rates, immune infiltration, immune and cancer pathways, and genomic alterations. In conclusion, we found differentially abundant microbes implicated with age and gender that are also associated with genomic alterations and immune dysregulations. Hierarchical cluster and a discriminant model using canonical correlations were employed to depict the overall expression profile of biochemical markers and the biochemical degree of perturbation. Median values of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), and TGF-β were higher in the adolescents with HS. Values of body mass index (BMI)/age and ALT, but not of TGF-β, were gradually increased proportionally to augmentation of steatosis severity. In a multivariate analysis, TGF-β plasma concentrations were associated with occurrence of hepatic steatosis independent of other covariates. Discriminant analysis confirmed that TGF-β concentrations can identify HS cases. In particular, desmosomal mutations have been related to increased undifferentiation and invasiveness of cancer. In this article, the authors review the knowledge on the relevance of environmental and genetic background in CCM and give insights into the shared genetic role in the pathogenicity of the cancer process and development of CMY.Pneumoparotid is a rare condition of parotid swelling. The presence of the air in gland parenchyma is caused by an incompetent Stensen's duct with high pressure may cause the acini's rupture. We reviewed 49 manuscripts, from 1987 to today, that enrolled a total of 54 patients with pneumoparotid. Our review evaluated the following evaluation parameters gender, age, etiology, clinical presentation, treatment, days of resolution after diagnosis, relapse and complications. The most frequent etiology is self-induction by swelling the cheeks (53.7%). This cause mainly involves children (74%), for conflicts with parents, excuses for not going to school, nervous tics or adults (16%) with psychiatric disorders. Iatrogenic causes are also frequent (16.6%), for dental treatments (55.5%) or use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) (33.4%). Medical therapy is the most practiced (53.7%), in most cases it is combined with behavioral therapy (25.9%) or psychotherapy (25.9%). Surgery is rarely used (9.2%) as a definitive solution through parotidectomy (50%) or ligation of the duct (50%).

  • Aqueous electrolytes have the potential to overcome some of the safety issues associated with current Li-ion batteries intended for large-scale applications such as stationary use. We recently discovered a lithium-salt dihydrate melt, viz., Li(TFSI)0.7(BETI)0.3·2H2O, which can provide a wide potential window of over 3 V; however, its reductive stability strongly depends on the electrode material. To understand the underlying mechanism, the interfacial structures on several electrodes (C, Al, and Pt) were investigated by conducting molecular dynamics simulation under the constraint of the electrode potential. The results showed that the high adsorption force on the surface of the metal electrodes is responsible for the increased water density, thus degrading the reductive stability of the electrolyte. Notably, the anion orientation on Pt at a low potential is unfavorable for the formation of a stable anion-derived solid electrolyte interphase, thus promoting hydrogen evolution. Hence, the interfacial structures that depend on the material and potential of the electrode mainly determine the reductive stability of hydrate-melt electrolytes.Second order nonlinear responses such as sum frequency and second harmonic generation arise from the response of a material system to the second power of an incident electromagnetic field through the material's first hyperpolarizability or second-order optical susceptibility. These quantities are nonzero only for noncentrosymmetric systems, but different length scales of the noncentrosymmetry give rise to second harmonic or sum frequency radiation with different spatial and coherence characteristics. This perspective discusses the possible contributions to the second-order signal from films of small semiconductor quantum dots and addresses whether such experiments are expected to selectively enhance transitions to surface defects or trap states in such systems. We also found that lattice heating via the electron-phonon coupling process lagged behind the coherent lattice motion, which we attributed to the prolonged thermalization process of the laser-excited non-thermal electrons under high pumping conditions. By taking such a process into account, the improved model fit our experimental data **** better, and the extracted γe of gold was still around 1.6.Effective forces derived from experimental or in silico molecular dynamics time traces are critical in developing reduced and computationally efficient descriptions of otherwise complex dynamical problems. This helps motivate why it is important to develop methods to efficiently learn effective forces from time series data. A number of methods already exist to do this when data are plentiful but otherwise fail for sparse datasets or datasets where some regions of phase space are undersampled. In addition, any method developed to learn effective forces from time series data should be minimally a priori committal as to the shape of the effective force profile, exploit every data point without reducing data quality through any form of binning or pre-processing, and provide full credible intervals (error bars) about the prediction for the entirety of the effective force curve. Here, we propose a generalization of the Gaussian process, a key tool in Bayesian nonparametric inference and machine learning, which meets all of the above criteria in learning effective forces for the first time.We present a rigorous and comprehensive theoretical treatment of the vibrational dynamics of benzene-H2O and benzene-HDO dimers, where the quantum bound-state calculations of the coupled intra- and intermolecular vibrational states of the dimers are complemented by the quantum simulations of their infrared (IR) and Raman spectra utilizing the computed eigenstates. Apart from taking benzene to be rigid, the methodology for the nine-dimensional (9D) vibrational quantum calculations introduced in this study is fully coupled. The approach yields the intramolecular vibrational fundamentals and the bend (ν2) overtone of H2O and HDO in the complex, together with the low-lying intermolecular vibrational states in each of the intramolecular vibrational manifolds considered. Following the recently introduced general procedure [P. M. Felker and Z. Bačić, J. Chem. Phys. 151, 024305 (2019)], the full 9D vibrational Hamiltonian of the dimer is divided into a 6D intermolecular Hamiltonian, a 3D intramolecular Hamiltonian, ahe computed IR spectra of the two complexes in the OH-stretch region, as well as the intermolecular Raman spectra, are compared to the experimental spectra in the literature.

Methods Literature was searched in PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), OVID, and Open Grey using phrases comprising the following key words "nurses", "policy making", "politics", "health policy", "nurses involvement in policy making/politics/health policy", "nurses challenges in policy making/politics/policy", and "impact of nursing policy making/politics/health policy"; 22 articles published from January 2000 to May 2019 were included. Findings The major challenges included intra- and interprofessional power dynamics, marginalization of nurses in policy making, and nursing profession-specific challenges. The extent of involvement was inadequate, and nurses mainly worked as policy implementers rather than as policy developers. Those nurses who participated in policy development focused on health promotion to build healthy communities and to empower nurses and the nursing profession. Conclusions Nurses' involvement in policy making has not improved over time. Nursing institutions and regulatory bodies should prepare and encourage nurses to work as policymakers rather than implementers and advocate for the rightful place of nurses at policy-making forums. Clinical relevance Preparation for health system policy making starts in the clinical settings. Methods The ferroportin disease variants R178Q andA77D and the HH4-variant C326Y were overexpressed in HEK-293T cells and subcellular localization was characterized by confocal microscopy and flow cytometry. Iron export and cytosolic ferritin were measured as markers of iron transport and radioligand binding studies were performed. The hepcidin-ferroportin axis was assessed by ferritin/hepcidin correlation in patients with different iron storage diseases. Discussion and conclusions Gpx3 loss increased the hyperplasia of PIN in the pre-cancerous stage of the prostate. Loss of Gpx3 induced oxidative stress. Histopathologically, no invasive carcinoma was identified, and Gpx3 loss did not increase Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Further research on the role of GPX3 in the transition of PIN to invasive carcinoma is needed. Methods Literature was searched in PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), OVID, and Open Grey using phrases comprising the following key words "nurses", "policy making", "politics", "health policy", "nurses involvement in policy making/politics/health policy", "nurses challenges in policy making/politics/policy", and "impact of nursing policy making/politics/health policy"; 22 articles published from January 2000 to May 2019 were included. Findings The major challenges included intra- and interprofessional power dynamics, marginalization of nurses in policy making, and nursing profession-specific challenges. The extent of involvement was inadequate, and nurses mainly worked as policy implementers rather than as policy developers. Those nurses who participated in policy development focused on health promotion to build healthy communities and to empower nurses and the nursing profession. Conclusions Nurses' involvement in policy making has not improved over time. Nursing institutions and regulatory bodies should prepare and encourage nurses to work as policymakers rather than implementers and advocate for the rightful place of nurses at policy-making forums. Clinical relevance Preparation for health system policy making starts in the clinical settings.   • Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) holds promise as a potential tool for clinical identification of filamentous fungi. However, due to the lack of an appropriate extraction protocol and the difficulty of database building, the identification power of each system differs. The causative factors of EPS remain unclear. Pathological studies of the peritoneum affected by EPS and relationships with clinical factors including PD solutions remain lacking. The objective of this study was to examine peritoneal samples from EPS patients and to identify the associations of peritoneal pathology with different clinical factors. Methods Peritoneal specimens were obtained at the time of surgical enterolysis in Tsuchiya General Hospital from 1993 to 2016. A total of 223 PD patients were enrolled and analyzed. Tissues were fixed with formalin and processed with hematoxylin and eosin and Masson's trichrome staining, as well as immunohistochemical staining for CD31 and CD68. Results Evaluations could be made in 174 patients who received surgical enterolysis. Conventional or pH-neutral low-glucose degradation product PD solutions were utilized during PD treatment. The conventional PD solution group showed less angiogenesis (P = 0.013) but more severe vasculopathy, in the form of a lower ratio of luminal diameter to vessel diameter (L/V ratio) (P less then 0.001) in association with longer PD treatment. Multivariate Cox proportional hazard models revealed that L/V ratio (per 0.1 increase, hazard ratio = 0.88, 95% confidence interval 0.77-0.99, P = 0.047) was significantly associated with a lower incidence of EPS relapse. In contrast, most of the cases in the pH-neutral solution group showed milder vasculopathy. Conclusions The pathology of EPS differed between conventional and pH-neutral solution groups. In live cell-based assays, LGI1 epitope recognition was examined with patient sera (n = 31), CSFs (n = 11), longitudinal serum samples (n = 15), and using mAbs (n = 14) generated from peripheral B cells of two patients. All sera and 9/11 CSFs bound both the leucine-rich repeat (LRR) and the epitempin repeat (EPTP) domains of LGI1, with stable ratios of LRREPTP antibody levels over time. Results We present a novel method to genotype known SVs from long read sequencing data. The method is based on the generation of a set of representative allele sequences that represent the two alleles of each structural variant. Long reads are aligned to these allele sequences. Alignments are then analyzed and filtered out to keep only informative ones, to quantify and estimate the presence of each SV allele and the allele frequencies.

  • Objective. The current paper presents an interesting case of facial reconstruction after the excision of a giant basal cell carcinoma located in the orbitofrontal region. Methods. Performing the excision while securing the appropriate oncologic safety margin has determined the appearance of a soft tissue defect that required a complex reconstruction using three regional ***** frontal, temporal fascial and temporal muscle *****. Results. After the excision and reconstruction in a single surgical stage, the postoperative result was favorable, the 12 months assessment showing that the patient was satisfied with the aesthetic aspect. Conclusion. Including the orbital exenterations in the excisional treatment of giant neoplasms located in the facial region requires a complex reconstructive plan. The surgical team has to consider the relief of the anatomical structures that are targeted, as well as the necessity of achieving satisfactory aesthetic results while ensuring oncological radicality. ©Romanian Society of Ophthalmology.Purpose. The aim of the present study was to compare the trend of excimer laser refractive surgery in different provinces of Iran. Methods. This cross-sectional study was performed in 12 provinces of Iran in 2015 using the data of 2010 to 2014. A total of 28 surgical centers were selected. For each center, one week per season was randomly selected, giving a total of 20 weeks for all seasons of the study years. Then, to estimate the surgical rate in the selected provinces, since 4 weeks were selected each year, the number of operations on the 4 weeks was multiplied by 12.5 to generalize the results to 50 weeks (= 1 year). After applying the weight of each center, the number of refractive operations on each year was divided by the population of the province on that year, and reported per million population. Results. On average, Kermanshah (35.8%, P less then 0.001) and Tehran (3.1%, P less then 0.001) had the highest and lowest annual increase and Qom (11.8%, P less then 0.001) had the highest annual decrease in the rate of excimer laser refractive surgery, respectively. The highest rate was seen in Tehran in 2012 (8885 operations per million population) and the lowest rate was seen in Gilan in 2010 (142 operations per million population). Moreover, the concentration index was 0.25 in 2012, indicating a socioeconomic inequality in the rate of excimer laser refractive surgery. Conclusion. The results of the present study showed an increasing trend in the rate of the excimer laser refractive surgery in 9 Iranian provinces for the first time. Moreover, concerning the inequalities and the higher surgical rate in provinces with a better economic status, it is necessary to expand an insurance coverage and equip more public centers with the instruments and devices required for laser refractive surgery. ©Romanian Society of Ophthalmology.Purpose. This study was performed to determine achromatic contrast sensitivity and color vision in lead and zinc mine workers. Methods. A total of 230 male workers, who had been working in mine and had been in contact with minerals for at least 1 year, were considered as the case group, and the age of 90 years matched men who have not been in contact with minerals, being regarded as the control group. Contrast sensitivity was assessed using the Freiburg test at three frequencies of 1, 5 and 15 cycles of degree and under low mesopic light condition by two gratings and Landolt C stimuli. Color vision was assessed using the Farnsworth D-15 test under high mesopic light condition. Both tests were carried out monocularly. Data were analyzed using version 22 SPSS software. Results. There was a significant difference between studied groups with Landolt C stimulus in all three frequencies 1, 5 and 15 cycles per degree (p=0.009, p=0.016 and p=0.003). With Grating stimulus, there was a significant difference between the two groups in frequencies of 1 and 15 cycles per degree but at frequency of 5 cycles per degree, there was a border difference (p less then 0.0001, p=0.051 and p=0.008). A significant difference was observed between color confusion indexes of the two groups (p less then 0.0001). Conclusion. Chronic exposure to mineral in lead and zinc mine may cause color vision deficiency and decrease in contrast sensitivity. It is recommended that Farnsworth D-15 and Freiburg contrast sensitivity tests would be involved in the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative and visual disorders in workers exposed to minerals. ©Romanian Society of Ophthalmology.The dry eye syndrome (DES) is a disease of the ocular surface, which can become a social issue in our country, given the changes in lifestyle as a consequence of the economic and technological developments of the last decade. A current problem is the prevalence of DES in patients with glaucoma. Mean hyphema's clearance time was 8.4 ± 3.2 days. The last mean corrected distance visual acuity was LogMAR 0.25. There were no complications directly related to the hyphema. Conclusions. Working related activities were the second cause of traumatic hyphema in our cohort, which might be attributable to poor awareness of the importance or ocular protection, or limited access to recommended protective devices.
    Objective. The current paper presents an interesting case of facial reconstruction after the excision of a giant basal cell carcinoma located in the orbitofrontal region. Methods. Performing the excision while securing the appropriate oncologic safety margin has determined the appearance of a soft tissue defect that required a complex reconstruction using three regional flaps frontal, temporal fascial and temporal muscle flaps. Results. After the excision and reconstruction in a single surgical stage, the postoperative result was favorable, the 12 months assessment showing that the patient was satisfied with the aesthetic aspect. Conclusion. Including the orbital exenterations in the excisional treatment of giant neoplasms located in the facial region requires a complex reconstructive plan. The surgical team has to consider the relief of the anatomical structures that are targeted, as well as the necessity of achieving satisfactory aesthetic results while ensuring oncological radicality. ©Romanian Society of Ophthalmology.Purpose. The aim of the present study was to compare the trend of excimer laser refractive surgery in different provinces of Iran. Methods. This cross-sectional study was performed in 12 provinces of Iran in 2015 using the data of 2010 to 2014. A total of 28 surgical centers were selected. For each center, one week per season was randomly selected, giving a total of 20 weeks for all seasons of the study years. Then, to estimate the surgical rate in the selected provinces, since 4 weeks were selected each year, the number of operations on the 4 weeks was multiplied by 12.5 to generalize the results to 50 weeks (= 1 year). After applying the weight of each center, the number of refractive operations on each year was divided by the population of the province on that year, and reported per million population. Results. On average, Kermanshah (35.8%, P less then 0.001) and Tehran (3.1%, P less then 0.001) had the highest and lowest annual increase and Qom (11.8%, P less then 0.001) had the highest annual decrease in the rate of excimer laser refractive surgery, respectively. The highest rate was seen in Tehran in 2012 (8885 operations per million population) and the lowest rate was seen in Gilan in 2010 (142 operations per million population). Moreover, the concentration index was 0.25 in 2012, indicating a socioeconomic inequality in the rate of excimer laser refractive surgery. Conclusion. The results of the present study showed an increasing trend in the rate of the excimer laser refractive surgery in 9 Iranian provinces for the first time. Moreover, concerning the inequalities and the higher surgical rate in provinces with a better economic status, it is necessary to expand an insurance coverage and equip more public centers with the instruments and devices required for laser refractive surgery. ©Romanian Society of Ophthalmology.Purpose. This study was performed to determine achromatic contrast sensitivity and color vision in lead and zinc mine workers. Methods. A total of 230 male workers, who had been working in mine and had been in contact with minerals for at least 1 year, were considered as the case group, and the age of 90 years matched men who have not been in contact with minerals, being regarded as the control group. Contrast sensitivity was assessed using the Freiburg test at three frequencies of 1, 5 and 15 cycles of degree and under low mesopic light condition by two gratings and Landolt C stimuli. Color vision was assessed using the Farnsworth D-15 test under high mesopic light condition. Both tests were carried out monocularly. Data were analyzed using version 22 SPSS software. Results. There was a significant difference between studied groups with Landolt C stimulus in all three frequencies 1, 5 and 15 cycles per degree (p=0.009, p=0.016 and p=0.003). With Grating stimulus, there was a significant difference between the two groups in frequencies of 1 and 15 cycles per degree but at frequency of 5 cycles per degree, there was a border difference (p less then 0.0001, p=0.051 and p=0.008). A significant difference was observed between color confusion indexes of the two groups (p less then 0.0001). Conclusion. Chronic exposure to mineral in lead and zinc mine may cause color vision deficiency and decrease in contrast sensitivity. The use of serological markers, including B-type natriuretic peptide, has been limited in this patient population. Methods This was a single-centre retrospective study of Fontan patients in acute decompensated heart failure. Fontan patients underwent a 12 match with non-Fontan patients for each heart failure hospitalisation for comparative analysis. A univariate logistic regression model was used to assess associations between laboratory and echocardiographic markers and a prolonged length of stay of 7 days or greater. Results B-type natriuretic peptide levels were significantly lower in Fontan patients admitted for heart failure than that in non-Fontan patients [390.9 (±378.7) pg/ml versus 1245.6 (±1160.7) pg/ml, respectively, p less then 0.0001] and were higher in Fontan patients with systemic ventricular systolic or diastolic dysfunction than that in Fontan patients with normal systemic ventricular function [833.6 (±1547.2) pg/ml versus 138.6 (±134.0) pg/ml, p = 0.017]. The change from the last known outpatient value was smaller in Fontan patients in comparison with non-Fontan patients [65.7 (±185.7) pg/ml versus 1638.0 (±1444.7) pg/ml, respectively, p less then 0.0001]. Low haemoglobin and high blood urea nitrogen levels were associated with a prolonged length of stay. Setting The original survey was funded by Irish Health Service Executive and undertaken by the National Centre for the Protection of Older People in Ireland. Participants The original dataset consisted of 2,311 family carers of older people in Ireland. Approximately, one-fifth of this sample had a diagnosis of dementia. The combined results of the three parasitological tests detected schistosome eggs in 118 participants (45.9%) and composed the consolidated reference standard (CRS). By RT-PCR, 117 out of 215 tested samples were positive, showing 91.4% sensitivity, 80.2% specificity and good concordance with the CRS (kappa = 0.71). RT-PCR identified 86.9% of the individuals eliminating less than 12 eggs/g of feces, demonstrating **** better performance than POC-CCA® (50.8%). Our results showed that RT-PCR is a valuable alternative for the diagnosis of intestinal schistosomiasis in individuals with very low parasite loads.

Our aim is to develop a recurrence prediction model based on long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in exosomes of serum to improve the prediction accuracy. In discovery phase, 11 lncRNAs were found to be associated with CRC recurrence in tissues using high-throughput lncRNAs microarray and reverse transcription quantitative real-time PCR. And, 9 of them were correlated with their expression levels of serum exosomes. In training phase, a model based on 5-exosomal lncRNAs (exolncRNAs) panel was constructed, and showed high distinguish capability for recurrent CRC patients. ROC showed the panel was superior to serum CEA and CA19-9 in prediction of CRC recurrence. In both training and test sets, high-risk patients defined by the 5-exolncRNAs panel had poor recurrence free and overall survival. And, COX model showed it was an independent factor for CRC prognosis. Moreover, there was a significant relationship in detection of 5-exolncRNAs between plasma samples and paired serum samples. In summary, the 5-exolncRNAs panel robustly stratifies CRC patients' risk of recurrence, enabling more accurate prediction of prognosis.BACKGROUND LINC01198 has been suggested to be able to predict overall prognosis for glioma; however, it has been little described in glioma. RESULTS It was shown that LINC01198 was markedly enriched in neoplasmic tissues relative to normal controls; and that elevated LINC01198 significantly correlated with unfavorable overall prognosis. Moreover, activation of STAT5A, identified as transcription factor (TF), can induce the expression of LINC01198. DGCR8, a kind of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), was identified to be able to bind with LINC01198 that can stabilize the DGCR8. Five differential miRNAs with most significant difference, including miR-21-5p, miR-34-5p, miR-1246, miR-4488 and miR-494, were obtainable after silencing of DGCR8. CONCLUSIONS Together, the data we presented here suggested that STAT5 induced LINC01198 promotes proliferation and motility of glioma cells through stabilizing DGCR8 in glioma cells. METHODS We used TiOx nanocomposite (YSA-PEG-TiOX ) instead of TiO2 as a photosensitizer to solve the problem of insufficient ROS generation in PDT. Benefiting from the desired mesoporous structure of TiOx, Cantharidin (CTD), one of the active components of mylabris, is loaded into TiOx for targeted combination of chemotherapy and PDT. The cellular uptake in human non-small cell lung carcinoma cell line (A549) and human normal breast cell line (MCF 10A) was evaluated by confocal microscopy. in vitro cytotoxicity was evaluated using Cell Counting Kit-8 assay. The ROS was detected via a chemical probe DCFH-DA and the photodynamic treatment effect of YSA-PEG-TiOx was further evaluated by a living-dead staining. The cell apoptosis was detected by the flow cytometry. RESULTS Our findings showed that the modification of YSA peptide improved the cytotoxicity of YSA-PEG-TiOX /CTD to EphA2 overexpressing A549 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) than non-YSA modified counterparts. In addition, TiOx generated adequate ROS under X-ray irradiation to further kill cancer cells. Flow analysis results also proved the superiority of this combined treatment. Our aim is to develop a recurrence prediction model based on long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in exosomes of serum to improve the prediction accuracy. In discovery phase, 11 lncRNAs were found to be associated with CRC recurrence in tissues using high-throughput lncRNAs microarray and reverse transcription quantitative real-time PCR. And, 9 of them were correlated with their expression levels of serum exosomes. In training phase, a model based on 5-exosomal lncRNAs (exolncRNAs) panel was constructed, and showed high distinguish capability for recurrent CRC patients. ROC showed the panel was superior to serum CEA and CA19-9 in prediction of CRC recurrence. In both training and test sets, high-risk patients defined by the 5-exolncRNAs panel had poor recurrence free and overall survival. And, COX model showed it was an independent factor for CRC prognosis. Moreover, there was a significant relationship in detection of 5-exolncRNAs between plasma samples and paired serum samples. Benefiting from the desired mesoporous structure of TiOx, Cantharidin (CTD), one of the active components of mylabris, is loaded into TiOx for targeted combination of chemotherapy and PDT. The cellular uptake in human non-small cell lung carcinoma cell line (A549) and human normal breast cell line (MCF 10A) was evaluated by confocal microscopy. in vitro cytotoxicity was evaluated using Cell Counting Kit-8 assay. The ROS was detected via a chemical probe DCFH-DA and the photodynamic treatment effect of YSA-PEG-TiOx was further evaluated by a living-dead staining. The cell apoptosis was detected by the flow cytometry. RESULTS Our findings showed that the modification of YSA peptide improved the cytotoxicity of YSA-PEG-TiOX /CTD to EphA2 overexpressing A549 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) than non-YSA modified counterparts. In addition, TiOx generated adequate ROS under X-ray irradiation to further kill cancer cells. Flow analysis results also proved the superiority of this combined treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS Enamel blocks were randomly distributed in 9 groups (n = 11) negative control, hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin, γ-cyclodextrin, TiF4, hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrinTiF4 12 h, hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrinTiF4 72 h, γ-cyclodextrinTiF4 12 h, γ-cyclodextrinTiF4 72 h, and NaF (positive control). The solutions were applied for 1 min and the blocks were exposed to a biofilm model. Nanocompounds were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray powder diffraction. The percentage of surface microhardness loss (%SML), mineral density changes (ΔZ), lesion depth, surface morphology (scanning electron microscopy-SEM), and chemical characterization (energy-dispersive spectroscopy-EDS) were assessed. RESULTS No oxidation was observed, and the formation of the nanocomplexes was evidenced by changes in the melting point compared to pure cyclodextrins and the loss of crystallinity of the materials. Chemotaxonomic properties including major menaquinones, diaminopimelic acid, sugar and phospholipid profiles also confirmed the affiliation of the strain to the genus Nonomuraea. The DNA G+C content of strain 160415T was 69.6 mol%. DNA-DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity values between the strain and closely related type strains were less than the recommended cut-off values. On the basis of phylogenetic relationships, genotypic and phenotypic characterizations, strain 160415T represents a novel species of the genus Nonomuraea, for which the name Nonomuraea basaltis sp. nov. is proposed. METHODS The primary efficacy end point was a composite of stroke, systemic embolic events, myocardial infarction, and cardiovascular death during 28 days on study drug after cardioversion plus 30 days of follow-up. The primary safety end point was the composite of major and clinically relevant non-major bleeding occurring between the first and the last dose of study drug. RESULTS Of 2199 patients enrolled, 1095 were randomized to edoxaban and 1104 to enoxaparin-warfarin. Patients receiving concomitant APT were older; more naïve to vitamin K antagonist; had lower creatinine clearance; and more likely to have history of coronary artery disease, hypertension, diabetes, or ischemic stroke/transient ischemic attack.

Using atomic coordinates of this model we defined an energetically optimized K-PHI structure, in which the K ions are present in the pore and between the PHI-planes. The distance between the anion framework and K+ resembles a frustrated Lewis pair-like structure, which we denote as frustrated Coulomb pair that results in an interesting adsorption environment for otherwise non-adsorbing, non-polar gas molecules. We demonstrate that even helium (He) gas molecules, which are known to have the lowest boiling point and the lowest intermolecular interactions, can be adsorbed in this polarized environment with an adsorption energy of  - 4.6 kJ mol-1 per He atom. The interaction between He atoms and K-PHI is partially originating from charge transfer, as disclosed by our energy decomposition analysis based on absolutely localized molecular orbitals. Here, we provide experimental evidence of lattice compression of FeTiO3 powder using super-high-energy ball milling, enabling the very high collision energy of 420 times gravitational acceleration. A sample obtained as an ilmenite- hematite 0.5FeTiO3·0.5Fe2O3 solid solution showed a decrease in molar volume of approximately 1.8%. Consequently, the oxidation state in FeTiO3 powder was changed into almost Fe3+Ti3+, corresponding to 87% Fe3+ of the total Fe for FeTiO3, resulting in the emergence of ferromagnetism. Simulations of air pollution were conducted in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), the largest city of Vietnam by using the TAPM-CTM model. The model performance was evaluated using observed meteorological data at Tan Son Hoa station and air quality data at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Science. The model is then applied to simulate a retire 1-year period to determine the levels of air pollutants in HCMC in 2017, 2025 and 2030. ategy for emission control in HCMC is avoiding industrial and urban development in the upwind areas to achieve better air quality for both areas. In the case of necessity to choose one area for development, the downwind sector is preferred. Therefore, an understanding of the high-pressure physics of FeTiO3 is of fundamental importance in the study of rock magnetization. Here, we provide experimental evidence of lattice compression of FeTiO3 powder using super-high-energy ball milling, enabling the very high collision energy of 420 times gravitational acceleration. A sample obtained as an ilmenite- hematite 0.5FeTiO3·0.5Fe2O3 solid solution showed a decrease in molar volume of approximately 1.8%. Consequently, the oxidation state in FeTiO3 powder was changed into almost Fe3+Ti3+, corresponding to 87% Fe3+ of the total Fe for FeTiO3, resulting in the emergence of ferromagnetism. This new ferromagnetic behaviour is of crucial importance in the study of rock magnetization which is used to interpret historical fluctuations in geomagnetism. In addition, the super-high-energy ball mill can be used to control a range of charge and spin states in transition metal oxides with high pressure.The clinical manifestation of cystic fibrosis (CF) is heterogeneous also in patients with the same cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator (CFTR) genotype and in affected sibling pairs. Other genes, inherited independently of CFTR, may modulate the clinical manifestation and complications of patients with CF, including the severity of chronic sinonasal disease and the occurrence of chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa colonization. The T2R38 gene encodes a taste receptor and recently its functionality was related to the occurrence of sinonasal diseases and upper respiratory infections. We assessed the T2R38 genotype in 210 patients with CF and in 95 controls, relating the genotype to the severity of sinonasal disease and to the occurrence of P. aeruginosa pulmonary colonization. The frequency of the PAV allele i.e., the allele associated with the high functionality of the T2R38 protein, was significantly lower in i) CF patients with nasal polyposis requiring surgery, especially in patients who developed the complication before 14 years of age; and ii) in CF patients with chronic pulmonary colonization by P. aeruginosa, especially in patients who were colonized before 14 years of age, than in control subjects. The objectives of this research are (i) Air quality modeling over HCMC by using the TAPM-CTM system model by using a bottom up air emission inventory; and (ii) Study loading capactities of air pollutant emissions over Ho Chi Minh City. Simulations of air pollution were conducted in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), the largest city of Vietnam by using the TAPM-CTM model. The model performance was evaluated using observed meteorological data at Tan Son Hoa station and air quality data at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Science. The model is then applied to simulate a retire 1-year period to determine the levels of air pollutants in HCMC in 2017, 2025 and 2030. ategy for emission control in HCMC is avoiding industrial and urban development in the upwind areas to achieve better air quality for both areas. In the case of necessity to choose one area for development, the downwind sector is preferred. The results show that TAPM-CTM performed well as applied to simulate the air quality in HCMC and is a promising tool to study the emission zoning.

  • A CT scan obtained 15 years prior revealed a cyst at the corresponding site and the mass was diagnosed as a warfarin-related hemorrhage within the pre-existing pulmonary cyst. We performed a surgical resection of the cyst to prevent any worsening hemorrhage and subsequent infection. The field of extracellular vesicles (EV) could have huge application for the management of patients with BE and EAC by allowing timely diagnosis, serial monitoring, and improved understanding of disease biology. EV are actively packaged and actively secreted vesicles and contain microRNAs, proteins, lipids, and DNA. The contents of EV have been shown to provide useful insights into cellular transformation and pro-oncogenic processes. Early work shows promise but suffers from a high degree of technical and biological variation. The current review not only summarizes the current knowledge about EV as diagnostic biomarkers and their role in disease progression of BE and EAC but also provides the reader practical guidance to devise future experiments to perform well-designed studies.BACKGROUND Receptor tyrosine kinases of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family such as human epidermal receptor-2 (HER2) are involved in the development and progression of esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). METHODS Multivariable analysis of the data available for 22,895 patients with primary elective incisional hernia repair was performed to assess the confirmatory predefined potential influence factors and their association with the perioperative and 1-year follow-up outcomes. A model validation procedure was implemented using a bootstrap algorithm in order to account for the robustness of results. RESULTS Higher European Hernia Society (EHS) width classification, open procedure, female gender, and preoperative pain have a highly significant association with an unfavorable outcome in incisional hernia repair. Larger defect width and open operation have a highly significantly unfavorable relation to the postoperative surgical complications, general complications, and the complication-related reoperations, while female gender and preoperative pain have a highly significantly unfavorable association with the rates of pain at rest, pain on exertion, and chronic pain requiring treatment at 1-year follow-up. The recurrence rate is significantly unfavorably influenced by higher EHS width classification, higher BMI, and lateral EHS classification. CONCLUSION Higher EHS width classification, open procedure, female gender, higher BMI, and lateral EHS classification, as well as preoperative pain are the most important unfavorable influencing factors associated with a worse outcome in incisional hernia repair.

However, self-care is often framed as merely an individualistic pursuit and may be a tool of managerialism, reinforcing the social and economic structures and culture that are causing burnout and moral injury in the first place. Particularly for people who are marginalized, the self-care movement may ignore historical trauma and the ways that interlocking oppressions contribute to stress, trauma, moral injury, and burnout. Drawing from the evidence base on East-West mind-body practices and informed by a transformative practice lens, healing justice is presented as a framework and set of practices of the whole self. The whole self includes the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, social, and ecological selves. A transformative approach to healing can be supported by enhancing the capabilities of mindfulness, compassion, curiosity, critical inquiry, effort, and equanimity. The concept of the healing justice organization is introduced as an opportunity for organizational change beginning with a set of inquiries for social work organizations to attend structurally and more purposefully to collective care. © 2020 National Association of Social Workers.Evidence suggests that the practice of sharing clinicians' notes with patients via online patient portals may increase patient engagement and improve patient-clinician relationships while requiring little change in providers' workflow. This article aims at examining the interplay between the protagonist's voluntary early retirement, gender, social class, and family relationships. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS This article mobilizes the theoretical framework of aging studies, which is underdeveloped in the French academic sphere. This qualitative case study connects gender issues and performative strategies in order to study a complex phenomenon within its context. RESULTS We showed that Cloutier provides new representations of middle-aged women in his play, a corrective to the under-representation of such an age group of actors and actresses in Québec. Our results cast a new light on the combination of class privilege, gender, and ageism, as a most fruitful research orientation to be further developed in the future in order to pursue an in-depth analysis of early retirement. DISCUSSION AND IMPLICATIONS The play reveals that belonging to the upper-middle class is essential in order to be able, economically speaking, to retire early. Cloutier empowers Jocelyne both as an aging individual and as a woman by means of granting her the right to make her own decisions in life. © The Author(s) 2020. Compounds interfering with keratinocyte proliferation could be useful in the management of psoriatic patients. AIM To investigate whether albendazole, an anti-helmintic drug that regulates epithelial cell function in various systems, inhibits keratinocyte proliferation in models of psoriasis. METHODS Aldara-treated **** received daily topical application of albendazole. Keratinocyte proliferation and keratin (K) 6 and K16 expression were evaluated by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting and inflammatory cells/mediators were analysed by immunohistochemistry and real-time PCR. In human keratinocytes (HEKa and HaCaT) treated with albendazole, cell cycle and proliferation, keratins and cell cycle-associated factors were evaluated by flow cytometry, colorimetric assay and Western blotting respectively. RESULTS Aldara-treated **** given albendazole exhibited reduced epidermal thickness, decreased number of proliferating keratinocytes and K6/K16 expression. Reduction of CD3- and Ly6G-positive cells in the skin of albendazole-treated **** associated with inhibition of IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-17A, IL-36, CCL17, CXCL1, CXCL2 and CXCL5 expression. Treatment of keratinocytes with albendazole reduced K6/K16 expression and reversibly inhibited cell growth by promoting accumulation of cells in S-phase. This phenomenon was accompanied by down-regulation of CDC25A, a phosphatase regulating progression of cell cycle through S-phase, and PKR-dependent hyper-phosphorylation of eIF2α, an inhibitor of CDC25 translation. In Aldara-treated ****, albendazole activated PKR, enhanced eIF2α phosphorylation and reduced CDC25A expression. CONCLUSIONS Data show that albendazole inhibits keratinocyte proliferation and exerts therapeutic effect in a murine model of psoriasis. © 2020 The Author(s). In human keratinocytes (HEKa and HaCaT) treated with albendazole, cell cycle and proliferation, keratins and cell cycle-associated factors were evaluated by flow cytometry, colorimetric assay and Western blotting respectively. RESULTS Aldara-treated mice given albendazole exhibited reduced epidermal thickness, decreased number of proliferating keratinocytes and K6/K16 expression. Reduction of CD3- and Ly6G-positive cells in the skin of albendazole-treated mice associated with inhibition of IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-17A, IL-36, CCL17, CXCL1, CXCL2 and CXCL5 expression. Treatment of keratinocytes with albendazole reduced K6/K16 expression and reversibly inhibited cell growth by promoting accumulation of cells in S-phase. This phenomenon was accompanied by down-regulation of CDC25A, a phosphatase regulating progression of cell cycle through S-phase, and PKR-dependent hyper-phosphorylation of eIF2α, an inhibitor of CDC25 translation. In Aldara-treated mice, albendazole activated PKR, enhanced eIF2α phosphorylation and reduced CDC25A expression. CONCLUSIONS Data show that albendazole inhibits keratinocyte proliferation and exerts therapeutic effect in a murine model of psoriasis. © 2020 The Author(s).
