  • INTRODUCTION The effectiveness of cancer screening programmes is highly dependent on screening uptake. Many interventions have been tested to increase screening uptake. AIM The goal of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of cancer screening pamphlets as a standalone intervention. The outcome of interest was uptake of cancer screening tests. METHODS A systematic review was performed on the effectiveness of pamphlets compared to usual care without pamphlets. We searched five databases for research papers in English from 2000 up to May 2019. Randomised controlled trials were included. This research group independently selected studies, extracted data, assessed risk of bias and then compared the information as a group. RESULTS A total of nine trials involving 4912 participants met our inclusion criteria, of which five were about colorectal cancer screening, three were about prostate cancer screening and one was about lung cancer screening. Five of the nine trials showed that pamphlets alone increased uptake significantly, while the remaining four trials did not show significant effects. DISCUSSION There is some evidence that pamphlets increase uptake for cancer screenings, especially for colorectal cancer. Due to the small number of studies in this area, generalisability could be limited.In this paper, whānau Māori highlight how a Kaupapa Māori-centred intervention (the Harti Hauora Tamariki tool, hereafter Harti tool) has improved interactions with health services. The Harti tool is undergoing a randomised control trial (RCT) at Waikato Hospital in New Zealand. As part of the RCT, the authors engaged in a series of qualitative interviews with whānau members of tamariki Māori (children aged 0-5 years) admitted to Waikato Hospital's paediatric ward. Whānau who met at least one criteria for New Zealand's domains of deprivation were included. Using a Kaupapa Māori approach to the study, participants shared their views on barriers and facilitators to accessing health resources and primary care services. Through highlighting the experiences of health consumers, the potential for future interventions to reduce the advancement of pre-diabetes among whānau is described. Evidence from the study interviews reinforces the importance of whānau and whakapapa (heritage) as enabling factors for Indigenous people to improve health. Specifically, the positive effect of whānau enhancing activities that support peoples' aspirations of tino rangatiratanga (self-determination) in their lives when engaging with health care has been observed. Thematic analysis of the interviews was used to define the key issues and areas of interest identified by participants. RESULTS There was a dearth of existing guidelines or pathways of care for patients experiencing domestic violence. Several strengths and weaknesses were identified in relation to the protocols and systems used by the hospital, including limited training for staff and a lack of standardisation of processes, workplace instructions and clinical guidelines. With the exception of maternity services, no clinical service area used a guideline or work instruction. Most interviewees highlighted the need for the safety and protection of staff and victims as a priority. DISCUSSION Domestic and family violence is an enormous burden on the health system. However, many staff have little or no guidance on dealing with it or are unaware of existing protocols or guidelines for detection or response. Participants recommended further education and training for staff, consistent guidelines, specialist liaison and more educational and information resources for staff and patients. Twelve community pharmacists piloted the tool with people with insomnia who presented in pharmacies, recording the time it took to administer the tool. The pharmacists were then surveyed about their experiences with the tool and possible improvements. RESULTS Ten pharmacists took an average of 12.4 min (range 4-35 min) for each use of the screening tool with 62 people with insomnia. Most pharmacists found the screening tool easy to administer, organised and easy to follow and nine of 10 said it provided better information than their usual consultation.

V.The α-Synuclein (α-syn) and tau have synergistic effects on neurodegenerative diseases induced by environmental factors or genetic mutation. Thus, we investigated the role of α-syn and tau in neurodegeneration induced by chronic methamphetamine (METH) exposure (1.0∼20.0 mg/kg/d body weight, for 14 consecutive days). Here, we present a **** model with evidences of α-syn and tau participating in toxicology in chronic METH. METH increased α-syn level in the stratum oriens, pyramidal layer, stratum radiatum and stratum moleculare of hippocampal CA1, CA2 and CA3, polymorph layer of hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG), and substantia nigra (SN). The subcellular locations of the upregulated α-syn were mainly found in mitochondria and axons. The METH upregulated α-syn may directly induce mitochondrial damage, myelin sheath destruction, and synaptic failure. Also, the excess α-syn might indirectly promote tau phosphorylation through tau kinase GSK3β and CDK5, leading to microtubule depolymerization and eventually fusion deficit of autophagosome and lysosome. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/azd5582.html In the in vitro experiment, the autophagic vacuoles failed to fuse with the lysosome. The neuropathology induced by both the direct and indirect effects of α-syn could be alleviated by α-syn knockout. Human exposure to EDPs can occur through occupational contact, and through the consumption of food, milk and water with trace amounts of these pollutants. Several EDPs are epidemiologically linked to breast cancer or are considered as possible carcinogens. However, current evidence is not fully conclusive and their mechanisms of action remain unknown. Thus, the potential interactions between 262 EDPs and 189 proteins associated with breast cancer were evaluated by using a virtual high-throughput screening approach, with AutoDock Vina 1.1.1. The molecular coordinates were previously downloaded from Protein Data Bank and EDCs DataBank, and used for preparation and optimization in Sybyl X-2.0. The best affinity score (-11.0 Kcal/mol) was obtained for flucythrinate with the nuclear receptor for vitamin D (VDR). This synthetic pyrethroid, along with other EDPs, such as fluvalinate, bifenthrin, cyhalothrin and cypermethrin, are proposed as multi-target ligands of several proteins related to breast cancer. In addition, the validation of our protocol showed a good accuracy in terms of binding pose prediction and affinity estimation. This study provides a guide to prioritize EDPs for which further in vitro and in vivo analysis could be done to evaluate the risk and possible mechanisms of action of these contaminants and their potential association with breast cancer. V.BACKGROUND Recently, evidence has accumulated that demonstrates the potential for future applications of radiomics in many clinical settings, including thoracic oncology. Methodological reasons for the immaturity of image mining (radiomics and artificial intelligence-based) studies have been identified. However, data on the influence of the composition of the research team on the quality of investigations in radiomics are lacking. AIM This review aims to evaluate the interdisciplinarity within studies on radiomics in thoracic oncology in order to assess its influence on the quality of research (QUADAS-2 score) in the image mining field. METHODS We considered for inclusion radiomics investigations with objectives relating to clinical practice in thoracic oncology. Subsequently, we interviewed the corresponding authors. The field of expertise and/or educational degree was then used to assess interdisciplinarity. Subsequently, all studies were evaluated applying the QUADAS-2 score and assigned to a research phase from 0 to IV. RESULTS Overall, 27 studies were included. The study quality according to the QUADAS-2 score was low (score ≤5) in 8, moderate (=6) in 12, and high (≥7) in 7 papers. An interdisciplinary team (at least 3 different expertise categories) was involved in half of the papers without any type of validation and in all papers with independent validation. Clinicians were not involved in phase 0 studies while they contributed to all papers classified as phase I and to 4/5 papers classified as phase II with independent validation. CONCLUSIONS The composition of the research team influences the quality of investigations in radiomics. Also, growth in interdisciplinarity appears to reflect research development from the early phase to a more mature, clinically oriented stage of investigation. Cellulose is the most abundant natural polymer in the world. Nanoscale forms of cellulose, including cellulose nanofibers (CNF), cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) and bacterial nanocellulose (**), are very attractive in industry, medicine and pharmacy. Biomedical applications of nanocellulose in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and controlled drug delivery are the most promising. Nanocellulose is considered a biocompatible nanomaterial and relatively safe for biomedical applications. However, more studies are needed to prove this hypothesis, especially those related to chronic exposure to nanocellulose. Besides toxicity, the response of the immune system is of particular importance in this sense. This paper provides a comprehensive and critical review of the current-state knowledge of the impact of nanocellulose on the immune system, especially on macrophages and dendritic cells (DC), as the central immunoregulatory cells, which has not been addressed in the literature sufficiently. Nanocellulose, especially CNC, can induce the inflammatory response upon the internalization by macrophages, but this reaction may be significantly modulated by introducing different functional groups on their surface. Our original results showed that nanocellulose has a potent immunotolerogenic potential. Native CNF potentiated the capacity of DC to induce conventional Tregs. When carboxyl groups were introduced on the CNF surface, the tolerogenic potential of DC was shifted towards the induction of regulatory CD8+ T cells, whereas the introduction of phosphonates on CNF surface potentiated DCs' capacity to induce both regulatory CD8+ T cells and Type 1 regulatory (Tr-1) cells. These results are extremely important when considering the application of nanocellulose in vivo, especially for tissue regeneration and wound healing.

  • Recent years have witnessed various in-depth research efforts on self-reconstruction behavior toward electrocatalysis. Tracking the phase transformation and evolution of true active sites is of great significance for the development of self-reconstructed electrocatalysts. Here, the optimized atomic sulfur-doped bismuth nanobelt (S-Bi) is fabricated via an electrochemical self-reconstruction evolved from Bi2S3. Advanced technologies have demonstrated that the nonmetallic S atoms have been doped into the lattice Bi frame, leading to the reconstruction of local electronic structure of Bi. The as-prepared S-Bi nanobelt exhibits a remarkable NH3 generation rate of 10.28 μg h-1 mg-1 and Faradaic efficiency of 10.48%. Density functional theory calculations prove that the S doping can significantly lower the energy barrier of the rate-determining step and enlarge the N≡N bond for further dissociation toward N2 fixation. This work not only establishes insights into the evolution process of electrochemically derived self-reconstruction but also unravels the root of the N2 reduction reaction mechanism associated with the atomic nonmetal dopants.One approach for desalinating brackish water is to use electrode materials that electrochemically remove salt ions from water. Recent studies found that sodium-intercalating electrode materials (i.e., materials that reversibly insert Na+ ions into their structures) have higher specific salt storage capacities (mgsalt/gmaterial) than carbon-based electrode materials over smaller or similar voltage windows. These observations have led to the hypothesis that energy demands of electrochemical desalination systems can be decreased by replacing carbon-based electrodes with intercalating electrodes. To test this hypothesis and directly compare intercalation materials, we examined nine electrode materials thought to be capable of sodium intercalation in an electrochemical flow cell with respect to volumetric energy demands (W·h·L-1) and thermodynamic efficiencies as a function of productivity (i.e., the rate of water desalination, L·m-2·h-1). It is believed that an aristolactam-nitrenium ion intermediate with a delocalized positive charge produced in the hepatic metabolism of AAs binds to DNA and the resulting DNA adduct is responsible for initiating the carcinoma development process. In this study, we demonstrated for the first time that the aristolactam-nitrenium ion intermediate will also react with endogenous aminothiols, for example, cysteine, N-acetylcysteine, and glutathione in vitro, and in rats, producing phase II-conjugated metabolites in a dosage-dependent manner. It is highly possible that this conjugation process consumes and ultimately deactivates this carcinogenic intermediate and acts as an important, but previously unreported, detoxification mechanism of AAs.     Recent years have witnessed various in-depth research efforts on self-reconstruction behavior toward electrocatalysis. Tracking the phase transformation and evolution of true active sites is of great significance for the development of self-reconstructed electrocatalysts. Here, the optimized atomic sulfur-doped bismuth nanobelt (S-Bi) is fabricated via an electrochemical self-reconstruction evolved from Bi2S3. Advanced technologies have demonstrated that the nonmetallic S atoms have been doped into the lattice Bi frame, leading to the reconstruction of local electronic structure of Bi. The as-prepared S-Bi nanobelt exhibits a remarkable NH3 generation rate of 10.28 μg h-1 mg-1 and Faradaic efficiency of 10.48%. Density functional theory calculations prove that the S doping can significantly lower the energy barrier of the rate-determining step and enlarge the N≡N bond for further dissociation toward N2 fixation. This work not only establishes insights into the evolution process of electrochemically derived self-reconstruction but also unravels the root of the N2 reduction reaction mechanism associated with the atomic nonmetal dopants.One approach for desalinating brackish water is to use electrode materials that electrochemically remove salt ions from water. Recent studies found that sodium-intercalating electrode materials (i.e., materials that reversibly insert Na+ ions into their structures) have higher specific salt storage capacities (mgsalt/gmaterial) than carbon-based electrode materials over smaller or similar voltage windows. These observations have led to the hypothesis that energy demands of electrochemical desalination systems can be decreased by replacing carbon-based electrodes with intercalating electrodes. It is believed that an aristolactam-nitrenium ion intermediate with a delocalized positive charge produced in the hepatic metabolism of AAs binds to DNA and the resulting DNA adduct is responsible for initiating the carcinoma development process. In this study, we demonstrated for the first time that the aristolactam-nitrenium ion intermediate will also react with endogenous aminothiols, for example, cysteine, N-acetylcysteine, and glutathione in vitro, and in rats, producing phase II-conjugated metabolites in a dosage-dependent manner. It is highly possible that this conjugation process consumes and ultimately deactivates this carcinogenic intermediate and acts as an important, but previously unreported, detoxification mechanism of AAs. Admission infarct core was measured on cerebral blood volume maps generated using the Intellispace Portal (Philips Healthcare, Best, the Netherlands) and final infarct was measured on noncontrast follow-up computed tomography at 24 hours. We defined overestimation of the infarct core as initial core minus final infarct >10 mL. RESULTS Out of 107 patients undergoing EVT in the study period, 60 were anterior circulation and had CTP done at our institute, and of them 31 were compatible with the inclusion criteria (known time of onset, no hemorrhagic conversion, and good recanalization). Median National Institute of Health Stroke Scale on admission was 13. Median time from symptoms to CTP was 148 minutes. Seventeen patients were found to have overestimation of the infarct core. Logistic regression analyses showed time from symptom onset to CTP to be inversely related to overestimation with a cutoff of 170 minutes (sensitivity 94% and specificity 43%). Independent of these interviews, a set of adjustments based on dietetic skills, nutritional database knowledge, food composition and dietary assessment was established to resolve probable reporting errors. The "adjusted" and "dietitian-assisted" records were compared to self-reported records for nutrient intakes and serves of The Five Food Groups using one-way repeated measures analysis of variance. RESULTS Sixty-two participants were recruited, with 48 using the RFD app which included eight records without any identified errors. Reporting errors contained in the raw self-reported records included food items with missing/implausible quantities or insufficient descriptions to allow automatic coding. After removal of unusable records, 44 records were analysed. Differences were found between the self-reported and adjusted records for protein, calcium, vitamin B12 , zinc and dairy food serves (all P  less then  .001; differences up to 8%). No significant differences were found between the adjusted and dietitian-assisted measures. CONCLUSIONS Similarities between adjusted and dietitian-assisted records suggest carefully applied dietetic assumptions are likely to improve accuracy of self-reported intake data where dietitian interviews are not possible.   • A variety of factors affect the success of music therapy students in practica. Many music therapy students may have invisible illnesses or invisible disabilities (II/ID) that affect their work. II/ID have physical or psychological effects but are not apparent to an observer. Such illnesses may include chronic illnesses, mental illnesses, and developmental disabilities. Although researchers have studied the success of post-secondary students with II/ID and the success of music therapy students without II/ID, there is a lack of research on music therapy students who identify with having II/ID. This researcher used an exploratory online survey to investigate the prevalence of II/ID among music therapy students and how it may affect their success in music therapy practica. Quantitative responses were compiled and analyzed into frequencies and percentages, and open-ended responses were coded and analyzed for patterns and themes. Results indicated that music therapy students with II/ID have various reasons for disclosure or nondisclosure. Some music therapy students with II/ID required accommodations, while many did not. Additionally, the effects of II/ID on music therapy practica students included physical, psychosocial, and cognitive symptoms, which led to various choices for disclosure/nondisclosure and the request/use of individualized accommodations. Music therapy students with II/ID self-reported that making decisions regarding appropriate disclosure and determining their need for accommodations or not allowed them to be more successful in practica. © The Author(s) 2020. For permissions, please e-mail journals.permissions@oup.com.PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to quantify the prevalence of impostor phenomenon (IP) and to assess well-being in pharmacy residents, as well as analyze the effects of demographics on these outcomes. METHODS A cross-sectional, survey-based study was performed. Pharmacy residency program directors and pharmacy directors were asked to forward an invitation email to actively enrolled postgraduate year 1 (PGY1) and postgraduate year 2 pharmacy residents in March 2019. The survey used the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale (CIPS) to identify IP and the Mayo Clinic Resident/Fellow Well-Being Index (RWBI) to assess resident well-being. RESULTS Survey respondents were mostly female, enrolled in PGY1 programs and single with no children. Of the 720 responses included in the study, 57.5% (n = 414) were identified as "impostors" (CIPS score of ≥62), with a mean CIPS score of 64.0 (SD, 15.0). Prior mental health treatment and increased hours worked per week were significant predictors of IP. The greatest correlation was found in those working greater than 80 hours per week compared to less than 60 hours per week (ß = 9.845; P less then 0.001). The mean RWBI score was 4.2 (SD, 1.8), with 47.8% (n = 344) of residents scoring ≥5, the cutoff for identifying those at greatest risk of distress. Age, previous mental health treatment, and increasing hours worked per week were significant predictors of RWBI ≥5. CIPS and RWBI scores were found to exhibit weak but significant correlation (ρ = 0.357; P less then 0.001). CONCLUSION Pharmacy residents displayed significantly higher prevalence of IP vs comparable groups as well as significantly more distress with potential for a personal and/or professional consequence. © American Society of Health-System Pharmacists 2020. PURPOSE This article provides an overview of the evidence relating to central nervous system changes (CNS) (structural and functional) associated with pain in spinal cord injuries (SCI).Data sources. A systematic review was performed, according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) recommendations, on PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science in March 2018. STUDY SELECTION Studies were selected if study changes in CNS of patients with SCI regardless of the type of imagery. DATA EXTRACTION Data were extracted by two blinded reviewers. DATA SYNTHESIS There is moderate evidence for impaired electroencephalographic function and metabolic abnormalities in the anterior cingulate in patients experiencing pain. There is preliminary evidence that patients with pain have morphological and functional changes to the somatosensory cortex and alterations to thalamic metabolism. There are conflicting data regarding the relationships between lesion characteristics and pain. In contrast, patients without pain may display protective neuroplasticity. LIMITATIONS AND CONCLUSION Further studies are required to elucidate fully the relationships between pain and neuroplasticity in patients with spinal cord injuries. In this work, we show that ADAR2 (adenosine deaminase that acts on RNA), an RNA editing enzyme, is expressed outside of the nucleus in squid neurons. Although researchers have studied the success of post-secondary students with II/ID and the success of music therapy students without II/ID, there is a lack of research on music therapy students who identify with having II/ID. This researcher used an exploratory online survey to investigate the prevalence of II/ID among music therapy students and how it may affect their success in music therapy practica. Quantitative responses were compiled and analyzed into frequencies and percentages, and open-ended responses were coded and analyzed for patterns and themes. Results indicated that music therapy students with II/ID have various reasons for disclosure or nondisclosure. Some music therapy students with II/ID required accommodations, while many did not. Additionally, the effects of II/ID on music therapy practica students included physical, psychosocial, and cognitive symptoms, which led to various choices for disclosure/nondisclosure and the request/use of individualized accommodations. Music therapy students with II/ID self-reported that making decisions regarding appropriate disclosure and determining their need for accommodations or not allowed them to be more successful in practica. © The Author(s) 2020. METHODS A cross-sectional, survey-based study was performed. Pharmacy residency program directors and pharmacy directors were asked to forward an invitation email to actively enrolled postgraduate year 1 (PGY1) and postgraduate year 2 pharmacy residents in March 2019. The survey used the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale (CIPS) to identify IP and the Mayo Clinic Resident/Fellow Well-Being Index (RWBI) to assess resident well-being. RESULTS Survey respondents were mostly female, enrolled in PGY1 programs and single with no children. Of the 720 responses included in the study, 57.5% (n = 414) were identified as "impostors" (CIPS score of ≥62), with a mean CIPS score of 64.0 (SD, 15.0). Prior mental health treatment and increased hours worked per week were significant predictors of IP. The greatest correlation was found in those working greater than 80 hours per week compared to less than 60 hours per week (ß = 9.845; P less then 0.001). The mean RWBI score was 4.2 (SD, 1.8), with 47.8% (n = 344) of residents scoring ≥5, the cutoff for identifying those at greatest risk of distress. Age, previous mental health treatment, and increasing hours worked per week were significant predictors of RWBI ≥5. CIPS and RWBI scores were found to exhibit weak but significant correlation (ρ = 0.357; P less then 0.001). CONCLUSION Pharmacy residents displayed significantly higher prevalence of IP vs comparable groups as well as significantly more distress with potential for a personal and/or professional consequence. © American Society of Health-System Pharmacists 2020. PURPOSE This article provides an overview of the evidence relating to central nervous system changes (CNS) (structural and functional) associated with pain in spinal cord injuries (SCI).Data sources. A systematic review was performed, according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) recommendations, on PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science in March 2018. STUDY SELECTION Studies were selected if study changes in CNS of patients with SCI regardless of the type of imagery. DATA EXTRACTION Data were extracted by two blinded reviewers. DATA SYNTHESIS There is moderate evidence for impaired electroencephalographic function and metabolic abnormalities in the anterior cingulate in patients experiencing pain. There is preliminary evidence that patients with pain have morphological and functional changes to the somatosensory cortex and alterations to thalamic metabolism. There are conflicting data regarding the relationships between lesion characteristics and pain. In contrast, patients without pain may display protective neuroplasticity. LIMITATIONS AND CONCLUSION Further studies are required to elucidate fully the relationships between pain and neuroplasticity in patients with spinal cord injuries.   • OBJECTIVES To evaluate two visual aid devices in blind dogs. MATERIALS AND METHODS Transit time and number of collisions through a maze were recorded for 12 chronically and irreversibly blind dogs. Each dog repeated the maze while fitted with a BlindSight® echolocation device, or Muffin's Halo® physical barrier. They then repeated another maze test after a 30-day device acclimation period at home. RESULTS All dogs had fewer collisions when wearing the halo device versus their baseline with no device. Dogs ≤11.8 kg had fewer collisions when acclimated to the halo versus their baseline with no device or when acclimated to the BlindSight®. For dogs >11.8 kg, maze completion time was faster when acclimated to the BlindSight® versus their baseline with no device or when acclimated to a halo. Owner surveys indicated no noticeable improvement in quality of life or dog navigation at home with either device. And there are also pressing political concerns that justify a reconsideration of his writings. Dysregulation of hDAT has been reported to be associated with different neuropsychiatric disorders. Dopamine transporter deficiency syndrome (DTDS) is a complex disease caused by defects in dopamine uptake within the synaptic cleft and patients manifest parkinsonian features. The extracellular loops are crucial for DAT activity and defects in these regions disturb dopamine transport. In the present study, a 3.5-year-old female in a consanguineous Iranian family with an initial diagnosis of gait imbalance and speech delay has been identified. We utilized whole-exome sequencing (WES) to identify the possible genetic defect(s). WES identified a novel homozygous in-frame indel variant, c.1139_1150del; p.(Gly380_Lys384delinsGlu), in the SLC6A3 gene (NM_001044.4), as the most likely disease-susceptibility variant. This variant is located in extracellular loop 4 (EL4) of the DAT protein. Our study highlights the role of extracellular loops and shows the EL4 of hDAT as a critical region for the protein activity. The identified variant in the EL4 region of DAT is predicted to compromise DAT function and may lead to DTDS in this case. This study aims to search for other flaviviruses likely to be associated with GBS. Amino acid (aa) sequence matching analysis was conducted to identify viruses molecularly similar to the Zika virus and human GBS-related proteins. A systematic review of clinical literature was performed to summarize the clinical findings of the GBS-associated flaviviruses identified in the aa sequence matching analysis. It was found that more than 10 pentapeptides were shared between 9 flaviviruses, Zika virus, and human GBS-related proteins. Twenty-six articles totaling 42 clinical cases were eligible for inclusion in the systematic review concerning the nine flaviviruses identified. While some patients showed signs of encephalitis, 5 out of 42 cases demonstrated typical GBS symptoms. Public health professionals should be aware of other GBS-associated flaviviruses and GBS cases with mild symptoms. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.PURPOSE To provide a proof of principle of a Pareto-based method to automatically generate optimal intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) plans for various noncoplanar beam orientations. METHODS A novel multicriteria beam orientation optimization (MCBOO) method was developed to generate Pareto database of optimal plans. The MCBOO method automatically explores the beam orientations and the scalarization parameters of the IMPT plans simultaneously. The MCBOO method is based on multicriteria bilevel optimization (i.e., hierarchical optimization with two nested levels, named the upper and lower level optimization). In MCBOO, the upper level optimization explores the noncoplanar beam orientation space, while the lower level explores the scalarization parameters for a given beam orientation. Differential evolution method was used in both levels, and the Pareto optimal plans were aggregated from the bilevel optimizations to construct the Pareto database. The MCBOO method was implemented on a multinode multi-GPU cluster, and it was tested on three brain tumor patient cases.

  • Two novel enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), designed to detect complexes containing DNA, leucocyte calprotectin and S100A12 proteins, were generated for improved specificity and rapid measurement of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). The assays were applied on plasma and serum samples from blood donors for establishment of reference values, and from patients with multiple myeloma (MM) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in order to examine putatively increased values in the two different inflammatory conditions. Although NETs were hardly detectable in healthy individuals, NET levels were as expected highly and statistically significantly increased in RA patients. The detection of statistically significantly increased NET levels in MM is a novel finding. © 2020 The Authors. Detailed recommendations were collected from the expert panel to define the criteria features and guide their implementation. These comments were then combined with a comprehensive review of available literature and opinion of an expanded group of international experts to develop detailed, evidence-based definitions and diagnostic methods. RESULTS The 2020 IACS Consensus Criteria for the Diagnosis of Scabies include three levels of diagnostic certainty and eight subcategories. Confirmed Scabies (Level A) requires direct visualisation of the mite or its products. Clinical Scabies (Level B) and Suspected Scabies (Level C) rely on clinical assessment of signs and symptoms. Evidence-based, consensus methods for microscopy, visualisation and clinical symptoms and signs were developed, along with a media library. CONCLUSIONS The 2020 IACS Criteria represent a pragmatic, yet robust set of diagnostic features and methods. The criteria may be implemented in a range of research, public health and clinical settings by selecting the appropriate diagnostic levels and subcategories. These criteria may provide greater consistency and standardisation for scabies diagnoses. Validation studies and development of training materials and development of survey methods are now required. Anaesthesiologists must maintain and update these crucial skills throughout their career, but how this is best achieved remains unclear. This study aimed to clarify anaesthesiologists' procedural volume, confidence in airway management and their current and preferred future educational strategies. METHODS A questionnaire was developed consisting of 28 items exploring essential skills in airway management. All anaesthesiologists in the Capital Region of Denmark were invited to participate. RESULTS The response rate was 84% (240/285). Most anaesthesiologists felt competent to a high or very high degree in basic airway management. Anaesthesiologists from anaesthesia felt confident to a significantly higher degree than those working in the intensive care unit (ICU) regarding the practical aspects of airway management in both the anticipated difficult airway (93% vs 73%, P  less then  .001) and the unanticipated difficult airway (81% vs 61%, P = .002). Both groups performed most of the key advanced techniques ≤4 times yearly, whereas anaesthesiologists from the ICU had a lower and less diverse procedural volume than those working in anaesthesia. The anaesthesiologists preferred training through their daily clinical work, hands-on workshops, and scenario-based simulation training. However, a large discrepancy was identified between the current and the desired level of training. CONCLUSION The anaesthesiologists felt competent to a high or very high degree in basic airway management but the current procedural volume in advanced airway management causes concern for skill maintenance. Here we compare the distribution and co-occurrence patterns of lichen photobiont and recently described secondary fungus (Cyphobasidiales yeast) to evaluate their dependency on lichen host fungus (mycobiont). We sequenced the nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS) strands for mycobiont, photobiont, and yeast from six widespread northern hemisphere epiphytic lichen species collected from 25 sites in Switzerland and Estonia. Interaction network analyses and multivariate analyses were conducted on operational taxonomic units based on ITS sequence data. Our study demonstrates the frequent presence of cystobasidiomycete yeasts in studied lichens and shows that they are **** less mycobiont-specific than the photobionts. Individuals of different lichen species growing on the same tree trunk consistently hosted the same or closely related mycobiont-specific Trebouxia lineage over geographic distances while the cystobasidiomycete yeasts were unevenly distributed over the study area - contrasting communities were found between Estonia and Switzerland. These results contradict previous findings of high mycobiont species specificity of Cyphobasidiales yeast at large geographic scales. The plasma protein binding of M-2 and M-5 was approximately 10-fold lower than that of regorafenib, whereas AUCu values for active metabolites on both days 1 and 15 were significantly higher than that of regorafenib. Anaesthesiologists from anaesthesia felt confident to a significantly higher degree than those working in the intensive care unit (ICU) regarding the practical aspects of airway management in both the anticipated difficult airway (93% vs 73%, P  less then  .001) and the unanticipated difficult airway (81% vs 61%, P = .002). Both groups performed most of the key advanced techniques ≤4 times yearly, whereas anaesthesiologists from the ICU had a lower and less diverse procedural volume than those working in anaesthesia. The anaesthesiologists preferred training through their daily clinical work, hands-on workshops, and scenario-based simulation training. However, a large discrepancy was identified between the current and the desired level of training. CONCLUSION The anaesthesiologists felt competent to a high or very high degree in basic airway management but the current procedural volume in advanced airway management causes concern for skill maintenance. Here we compare the distribution and co-occurrence patterns of lichen photobiont and recently described secondary fungus (Cyphobasidiales yeast) to evaluate their dependency on lichen host fungus (mycobiont). We sequenced the nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS) strands for mycobiont, photobiont, and yeast from six widespread northern hemisphere epiphytic lichen species collected from 25 sites in Switzerland and Estonia. Interaction network analyses and multivariate analyses were conducted on operational taxonomic units based on ITS sequence data. Our study demonstrates the frequent presence of cystobasidiomycete yeasts in studied lichens and shows that they are much less mycobiont-specific than the photobionts. Individuals of different lichen species growing on the same tree trunk consistently hosted the same or closely related mycobiont-specific Trebouxia lineage over geographic distances while the cystobasidiomycete yeasts were unevenly distributed over the study area - contrasting communities were found between Estonia and Switzerland. These results contradict previous findings of high mycobiont species specificity of Cyphobasidiales yeast at large geographic scales. We examined area under the unbound plasma concentration-time curve (AUCu) to these compounds to establish pharmacokinetic bases for individualized dosing strategies. The plasma protein binding of M-2 and M-5 was approximately 10-fold lower than that of regorafenib, whereas AUCu values for active metabolites on both days 1 and 15 were significantly higher than that of regorafenib.
